Best mechanic in the area. Straight shooter, sets expectations at the consult. I have used Mark and his crew for the last 25 years and would recommend them to anyone who needs outboard engines worked on or any other boat project.

Been working with Dink and Mark for a long time....mostly Dink on my smaller and antique motors. Great group of guys Dink, Mark, and Bill.... Dink is retired now, (well deserved) but take the time to talk with him when you see him, you will learn so much! Most of what Ive learned about outboards and my old antiques came from just talking and listening to Dink. And thats priceless knowledge! Price and service always good!

Mark was awesome. I think I’ve written one review in my life time, he went out of his way to explain everything he did to fix my lower unit and had it back to me in 3 days. I’ve been back on the water with zero issues since this repair, fair prices and awesome service. Thanks again

I took a tilt and trim unit to these guys a few months back and just recently was able to use it and discovered that it was still leaking. I brought it back to them and even though they did not remember working on it they honored the work and replaced the seals. Great guys who stand by their work, really appreciative for everything they did to help me.

Mark is an miracle working mechanic, ive witnessed him bring back water logged motors, blown motors, seized motors, reset cylinder sleeves, literally anything. He also will keep at it until your problem is fixed. Even better than that, Mark is a terrific person. The only drawback is usually he is swamped.

I am very fortunate to have found Dink, Mark, and Bill from Marine Mechanix.I live and cruise on my old motor yacht. She has an inflatable dinghy powered by a 2006 Johnson 9.9 hp, two stroke motor. The motor was I flooded by salt water, and I didnt know about the salt water submersion until more than three months after the flood. By then, the motor was totally seized. The manual pull starter was locked tight.I talked with three mechanics. They all told me that the motor was a total loss.I was devastated!I decided to contact one more professional mechanic, for an opinion, before heading to the scrap yard with my rare motor. That one professional was Dink. I explained my dilemma in detail. Dink listened carefully. Then, Dink said: Bring your motor here. Well take good care of you.The very next day, I was at Marine Mechanix. In less than an hour, Mark had the motor cranking!I left it with Marine Mechanix because there was still much work to be done with the salt-water innundated carburetor.Mark called me one week and one day later with the news. He had the motor working perfectly!I didnt get the motor until the next Friday because Friday is the day I left it there. On Fridays, these guys steam-cook brautworst, which I never had the pleasure of eating. They serve the brautworst with chilli, fresh onions, and other fixings. Not only did these great men save my motor, they treated me to the best lunch Ive had in many months! These men work on hundreds of motors; most far larger than my little kicker. Yet, they treated me like their best customer; and I was a total stranger. They treated me to two great lunches, and made me feel like we were old friendsThey did all of that for a VERY REASONABLE fee. I offered to pay more, but they all refused! These men make me proud again to be an American! They represent what once distinguished America from the rest of the world: GREAT SERVICE!

Amazing. Full tune-up, new Tachometer, new fuel meter, fixed the gas line, and replaced water pump WITHIN 24 hours, and the price was great. They were also able to fix a problem with one of the cylinders that three other mechanics couldnt fix. The last place I took my boat to had it for TWO MONTHS, and it was still not right. These guys have my business from now on. Great work and friendly guys.

Best damn boat mechanics in the Wilmington area. Care more about getting you onto the water then getting into your pockets. Talk to Mark, the man knows his stuff. My experience? Honest, mom and pop business, not pretty to look at but who cares when your wallet is thanking you.

Broke down and in need, Mark showed me that there are good people out there. He held out an open hand to help a stranger and I’m very grateful. He is a great mechanic and very efficient in time management and knowledge. Mark, I wish you the best of luck in your schooling and endeavors! If you ever find yourself in Murrells Inlet, dinner is on me!

I have rented a storage unit here for a long time. The flat out cheapest in town, I looked all over. The service from Mark is top notch, its the old fashioned service with a smile. I like working with him and this is a good place to store your junk on the cheap. Highly recommended.

The best experience Ive ever had with a boat mechanic. Not many times are you able to pull in a repair shop at 430 and they tell you to back it on in and lets look at it!!! Mark was very knowledgeable of all the wiring in the boat and on the motor.. ended up having a bad wire in the wiring harness 30 minutes later problem fixed!! Very reasonable and without a doubt I will be a returning customer!!! Thanks Mark

I couldnt be more satisfied. The repair of my old engine turned out great and the mechanic even explained to me everything that was wrong with the motor even before he worked on it. It now runs like a champ! The price for the repair was fair. Customer service was very friendly and I even got invited to lunch. I now have a boat mechanic that I can trust which makes me very happy.

I am surprised by the negative reviews. I stopped by Marine Mechanix today to ask some questions about a tilt and trim problem I was having. Mark was super helpful and took the time to explain what needed to be done to get me back on the water for a low cost. If I have something else come up with my outboard I would not hesitate to go back to see them.

Save yourself the headache and take your boat somewhere else. My experience was terrible. Dink, the man at the counter is very nice and knowledgeable but Mark is very arrogant and simply just doesnt care and he is the guy who does the work or lack thereof. My boat sat untouched at the shop for the whole month of April. I called once a week to see if any progress was made and everytime I called I was given a different excuse. After 4 weeks I decided to just go pick it up and take it somewhere else. Dont waste your time with this place!

This boat repair shop is poorly run and managed. The parking lot is not paved and frequently has standing water. The shop is dirty and unorganized. There is little to buy off the shelf. He does offer cheap storage rates and he does know boat engines.

Very knowledgeable about outboard motors and they do quality work. I highly recommend them to anyone. Boaters know that Spring is a very busy time for boat shops. Everyone wants there boat repaired immeadiately. . Any quality and reputeable boat shop will be overwhelmed with customers all wanting the same thing. Mr. Smith was told in advance that he was on the list in the order of arrival. He got mad simply because Mark told him he had to wait his turn....just like everyone else. Mr. Smith is a jerk.
