Today was the first time we had doughnuts from Wake n Bake, but definitely not our last one. Their Boston cream and strawberry are amazing, so are the other flavors. We will go back soon to get some more.

I ❤️ 🍩!!!! Small donut shop in Wilmington with fun flavors and interesting combinations of toppings and fillings. Was tempted to try several….like the chocolate couch potato or the PB Get Bizzy but had only one, the Cinnabomb with cream cheese icing and cinnamon sugar. It was like a cinnamon danish. It was good but I probably would have enjoyed one of the other flavors more. They were having a special that day and gave a “house” donut with each purchase which looked like a plain cake donut but it was packed with flavors of Fall….subtle pumpkin and cinnamon. It was moist and tasty, better than the Cinnabomb in my opinion. Lesson learned…choose wisely and when in doubt, choose them all!

My favorite donut place in town! Wish they were open more during the week though. My favorite is the Slim Shady!

This place has such variety! We got 6 to split between two people which was far too many but we got to try a lot of them! If you are craving a donut they will hit the spot. Nothing plain about the donuts though. Be prepared for them to be sweet and fancy! Great experience picking out donuts we had a lot of questions as we couldn’t choose and the guy was super helpful.

We grabbed two fancy donuts and an apple fritter for just $12. It was really reasonable--especially given that the apple fritter is the size of your face. We ended up making breakfast and lunch out of it.

I have found heaven on earth. While on vacation a few weeks ago we stopped in on our way home to check out Wake N Bake donuts. We’d heard so many amazing things about this place and just had to check it out before we hit the road.They had every possible type of donut one could ever want. We got a chocolate covered donut with potato Chips on top, we got one with vanilla icing and fruit loops, one with butterfingers on top. A Boston cream pie donut. And many more. The toppings were outrageously delicious.I definitely recommend stopping in to grab some donuts from Wake n Bake if ever in the area. The only thing I would warn about is get there early. They sell out fast everyday. We went around 11am and they were already sold out of quite a few options.

The donuts in the store were delicious and unique flavors. I gave them a poor rating because the server put my 4 donuts into 2 separate bags instead of a box. I did not appreciate that one of them was put in upside down which smeared the icing. The fact that she didnt even offer was rude and unprofessional.

Easily some of the best (and most creative) donuts that Ive had in a long time. They even worked with us and were super polite when Id accidentally placed an online order for the wrong store. Great selection of morning treats and merchandise.

I was very excited to try these donuts, but unfortunately left disappointed. I searched Google for donuts near me and found this. Seeing all the good reviews, I drove an hour from jacksonville to try them. Unfortunately, the donuts were stale, cold, and tasted like yeast since they were sitting out all day. In addition to the 2 donuts, we also got an apple fritter. The apple fritter was RAW! Hopefully we just went on an off day. Definitely not worth the trip.

Visited this location about a week ago with my daughter. The owner was so sweet and patient with her to pick out her donut! We got the trix cereal and the slim shady. They were incredible and so delicious. And for 2 donuts it was like 4 bucks. Thats a steal! Ill definitely be supporting this local business frequently! Thanks guys!

While we were walking around downtown Wilmington we couldnt make up our minds where to go. We walked in one coffe shop that was busy and left. Only to find this Gem. The owner was very nice and informative. He recommended all kinds of local places to eat. I ordered a white chocolate mocha and a pecan pie donut Out of this world Amazing❣ Come to find out they have another business in Carolina Beach. Overall customer service and experience was great. Our new go to place when we visit both areas.

So very good. I only get these a few times a year but everytime I try a new flavor and Im happily surprises. This was my first time going to this location and like the other local location this spot is on point. Everything is freshly made and not only tastes good but looks good as well. I cant say to much more that if you are into trying something different or you are a serious sweets lover then you wont be sorry you tried anything in wake n bake. My favorite doughnut is the bacon doughnut. Give wake n bake a try you wont be upset you did.

Wow. Talk about gourmet donuts and selection!!! This place is amazing. We got the daily special, Carolina Sand, Wake n Bacon, Samoa, and Purple Rain. They were all fresh and extremely tasty. I loved that the owners are all collaborating to make new flavors and hilarious names. Fun throwbacks to the late 90s, early 2000’s!

I only gave two stars because the donuts are truly wonderful. If you are just popping in I would definitely recommend. If I am basing my review solely on customer service I would give no stars. What follows is my experience trying to place a catering order. If you are looking to do a catering order for an event I would advise you look elsewhere. I contacted the Wilmington location two and a half months before my event about doing a catering order. The man I spoke with was extremely helpful and assured me they would be able to complete my order. He requested I email their catering email so they would have the details that way and then someone would be in touch to finalize the order. So I sent the email and waited a week to hear back. No response. I emailed again and waited another week for a response. Still nothing. Finally I called the Wilmington location twice during the business hours listed on the website and got no answer. At this point I thought maybe they had closed for some reason so I reached out to the Wrightsville Beach location. I was told that the person I needed to speak to was not there but they took my name and number with a promise to give me a call back. Again, nothing. I waited another week and called again. I was told the person I needed to speak to was with a customer and would call me back shortly. I still have not received a response from either location. I have been trying to get up with someone for over a month with no luck. For the prices they have advertised for the catering packages you would think they would be more motivated to respond to inquiries. I finally decided it is a lost cause this morning and I called the Donut Inn. They took my call on the first try, answered all of my questions and will be doing the catering order for my event at the end of this month.

The doughnuts didnt taste anything like the flavors they were supposed to taste like, particularly the Irish Cream. They definitely were not fresh either.

The lady is nice and friendly. This was my first time going. They have good donuts, but they run out of most flavors before the end of the day so to get the widest selection, you must go in the morning. I like the snickers donut and cinnamon sugar donut.

Not only does this place have vegan donuts... THEY ARE BETTER than the regular donuts. Dont believe me?? Go there, try them, and report back if you hate them. Guarantee no one will report back.

We had breakfast here on our way to the beach. Absolutely AMAZING donuts!! Dunkin, take a lesson. The key lime and cinnabomb were unbelievable!! The latte was really good, too. This place is in a class of its own!

Best homemade donuts Ive ever had. Fluffy dough, creative flavors, and good sized! Highly recommend the fruity pebble flavor. The frosting tastes like milk!

First time in and the guy at the front was awesome! He explained each donut, pastryz and fritter. Great first impression, Ill be going again!

Are you beyond stupid!?! The “tide pod challenge” is not a joke nor something you should encourage! All you are doing is making this ridiculous situation worse! Tide pods are POISON and you go and make a donut that looks like one?!? WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU THINKING! Pulling a stunt like this makes me hope this business goes bankrupt! I sincerely hope that when more people die from this stupid “trend” that they link the deaths to your company. Fire your designer and whoever approved this beyond stupid design.

These donuts are amazing! I stumbled across Wake n Bake Donuts a few years ago and unfortunately have only been back to the area once, but its a definite must stop whenever/ if ever Im in Wilmington. They are very rich though and I split the snickers donut with my husband.

Wowww! Hands down the best specialty donuts I’ve ever had! Really wish there was a location in the Richmond, Va. area!(Hint hint) Awesome service and donuts, can’t wait to go back on our next trip to Wilmington!

Had a hankering for some donuts. Stopped in to get some; nice selection to choose from. The apple fritter was huge with plenty of apple pieces in it.

I would share a photo, but it would only be of an empty bag as the donut was gone before I thought of taking a photo. The donut is soft and fluffy. I got the PB one and had good PB flavor with chocolate, so if you like PB and chocolate you love it. It is a little sweet so I got a cappuccino from Bespoke to go with it. The perfect duo.

Pretty cool place and has so many cool donuts with so many different flavors. My favorites are creme brulee and peanut butter ones, and of course apple fritters. Staff is super friendly and helpful. It is nice to come here for breakfast (coffee and donuts) or afternoon snack after the beach. Nice treat for kids too!Recommend!Cheers

Love this no fuss donut place. You want donuts & maybe some coffee? This is what youre after & thats exactly what a donut place is about. The different flavors are always interesting but Im boring & go back to the same espresso donut. I had the GIANT cinnamon roll my first time & about died. That bad boy was the size of a plate just about & could have fed three but I downed it myself happily.

Great donuts. Very tasty. I like when i go at 7pm and all donuts are a $1. But they sell out very often. I have been by many times after 7 and they are closed all together, which is very frustrating after driving downtown to go there. But when they are open, the donuts are delicious.

My husband and I were visiting and this bakery came highly recommended. The donuts did not disappoint. We traveled back to Indianapolis with our donuts and ate them 2 days later. They were still soft and fresh. They were amazing and we will visit again.

Amazing!! Delicious like nothing else

I had an apple fritter which was quite delicious. I chose the king and Boston cream donut but I was not happy with them. My daughter bought an espresso, Samoa, and fruity pebbles donut. The Samoa and espresso were delicious I did not try the fruity pebbles donut. I would like to visit again and try some other flavors. However, for all the accolades, I was disappointed with the customer service. The person helping me got upset with me because I did not say my coffee order exactly how he liked it. Even after I apologized for the misunderstanding, he still had a bad attitude with me. The men who came in behind me were treated quite well and the difference in his attitude was remarkable. The morning I came in was not busy and I felt like I didnt have to apologize but I did so to smooth things over. The whole customer service exchange soured my experience. This was at the downtown Wilmington location.

Love Wake n Bake. They have some really tasty vegan donuts. I love the Samoa ones, with chocolate and coconut. The coffee is also pretty good. Ive ordered a large order a couple days before for an event and they got everything 100% right and the donuts were a huge hit at my party.

Owner was super friendly and knowledgable about his products as well as downtown area recommendations. Also very on top of his covid-19 response and keeping health and safety a top priority - we delt incredibly welcomed and incredibly comfortable. Plus, iced coffees (one with cookie dough flavoring) and the turtle donut were delicious!

Look no further! Youve just found the best donuts in Wilmington, with a sister store in Carolina Beach. I dare you not smile when you see the riotous donuts on display, inhale that amazing sweet, yeasty scent, and watch the happy counter crew select and box your choices. The maple bacon is my hands down favorite, but theyre all insanely good. (The coffees great too, and its ALL easy on the wallet!) You can eat in at Carolina Beach, but on Princess Street, grab them to go, and sit by the river. Bliss!

I CANNOT SAY ENOUGH GOOD THINGS ABOUT THIS PLACE. Its to the point where people know to bring me these delicious little wheels of delight on special occasions. Good vibes when you walk in and everyone is friendly. This one is smaller than the one in CB but it is still just as good!

Great donuts with unique flavors and classics. Also has a selection of reasonably priced hot and iced coffee. Very friendly staff. Sometimes closes around lunch time for staff lunch break so be aware of that.

Are you kidding me? How can so much flavor come out of such a tiny place. You can taste why they won the Donut Challenge on the Cooking Channel. Best in the SouthEast!

WHERE DOES ONE BEGIN WITH THE GREAT THINGS ABOUT THIS PLACE?There’s enough donut flavors to satisfy anyone’s taste buds. The coffee is pretty good. I don’t even drink coffee and I still think it’s pretty good. I like that this one is take out only since I mainly come for those sweet, sweet donuts!

Fabulous donuts! The peanut butter cup donut is crazy good! Weve been several times and that one is the best. A little pricey, but worth it for a unique donut. There is not a single place to sit so you have to take them and eat them elsewhere.

Award-winning, hole-in-the-wall donut and coffee shop. One of the very few places anywhere offering vegan donuts, which they often sell out of. Deducted a star because the texture of the vegan donuts (the only type Ive tried) is often way too dense... although the flavors are scrumptious. Open till late at night, which is convenient. No tables (its really small!), just counter service and take-out.

Randomly walked by and decided to give this place a try today. As a huge donut lover, I was underwhelmed. It reminded me of Rise Donuts in Raleigh and Durham, as they provide several of the same exact donut options. You definitely get your moneys worth in these huge treats though, and the customer service was awesome! The donuts are cold and obviously not the freshest, after a few hours they tasted rather stale. If youre looking for an even better donut place in Wilmington I would recommend Ducks Donuts.

Visiting from out of town and website indicated 8pm closing on Sunday. Called the business, no answer; the answering machine came on but I couldnt leave a message as the voicemail had not been set up. Rode to the business establishment only to find they were not open.

The cinnamon roll was amazing! Lots of great flavors and combinations on their donuts as well as late night hours. Yum!

OMG, this little hole in the wall shop is beyond anything words can describe. They have the most imaginative donut combinations I have EVER experienced. Going into this shop is as much a feast for your eyes as it is for your taste buds. The donuts are large, so you may be satisfied with one, but good luck deciding on which one. I dont think they use many or even any preservatives, so you will want to down them in short order.

The donuts are wonderful. Very delicious toppings. But there seems to be a problem with Packaging. I was deciding on what Donuts to get and was asked about three times how many donuts am I going to get in all. If boxes are really expensive get some cheap ones we dont care about the boxes but the bags are not working out for more than one donut. I dont want to have to lick all those good toppings off of the paper you pull the donut out with.

The vegan donuts were a huge disappointment. Dry, dense, flavorless cake donuts that are much smaller and less delicious than the non-vegan ones but cost the same! The many award-winning vegan donut shops around the world prove its easy to make an incredible, yeast-based vegan donut. In fact, Wake N Bake could convert all its donuts to be vegan and no one would notice.

Theyre donuts and customer service are the bomb! What a cool donut shoppe in historic wilmington! I would definitely recommend and WOULD LOVE TO RECOMMEND their Snickerbomb donut. It has a full sized snicker in the middle of the donut. Pure fattening and sweet perfection.

I normally only eat cake donuts and I am not a fan of tons of frosting. However, I ordered a Slim Shady: chocolate frosting, chocolate chips and M&Ms on a glazed donut. It was fabulous! Quality chocolate chips, not overwhelmingly sweet, soft dough, just excellent.

Simple, delicious. Fast and inexpensive without sacrificing quality. Lots of pastries. The cinnamon rolls were barely cooked in the middle both times I got them, but thats acceptable when theyre the size of your head.

Normally go to the location in Carolina Beach every trip down. I stayed in down town Wilmington this week and just had to visit. If you don’t like their donuts, quite frankly you have no taste. My trip the the location was great. They had exactly what I wanted, the staff was great and we had a great conversation. Next trip to Wilmington I am stopping by.

My husband and I are both vegan and have been sad and donut-less for the last year until we moved to Wilmington. We got one of every vegan donut they had when we went which was 4 options (options... As a vegan... what?!) I think the plain glazed and salted caramel were my favorites, but the chocolate icing was still delicious too.

Has amazing and unusual donuts. They have a donate for everyone, with almost anything on top of them. It is right next to all these places so when it done eating, its a great place to dessert.

This is the best donut place in Wilmington. Variety out the wahoo. You should come looking to take at least a dozen home just so you can try as many as possible. My Recommendation is the Slim Shady.

Some of the best donuts Ive tried! I tried some bacon donut and wasnt expecting that much but was treated to a delicious surprise! So many different flavors that you can try!

Every time Ive been here my doughnut or cinnamon roll was raw in the middle, or the filling was only in one corner, so a big bite of filling and the rest dry. The flavors were surprisingly bland. The coffee however is good, but when I inquired where they source their beans, the staff had no idea. I would definitely go back if they worked on their quality and consistency, but too many bad experiences to try again, especially with their prices.

I love coming here the donuts are amazingly good and the creative variety they offer is out of this world. The Wake and Bacon Alo f with Carolina sands are my personal favorites. Give em a try Im sure you will find a personal favorite also. Its just right around the corner from Beer Bario.
