Occasions is such an interesting store and definitely one of the best in the Cotton Exchange. Its rare now to find a store selling stationary, quality pens, cards, journals etc. Peg, the owner, is always friendly and welcoming. She will give you any help you need but will also allow you to browse at your leisure. Covid affected so many small business negatively but gotta say Peg never lost her smile throughout.I buy all my cards there and my grand kids love the Pop Ups. She also has a great selection of unusual fun gifts, art and decor items. I never leave the store without making a purchase and this also makes me happy as I am helping a very well deserving local small business.
Occasions had a small assortment of fountain pens, small, but, good choices. Janet was helpful in selecting the Platignum fountain pen.
Great cards. Limited selection of writing pens but better than the average brick and mortar.
We are visiting Wilmington and decided to meander thru the little shops. This was my favorite! I loved all of the neat and unique gift items. They have a wonderful selection of papers and pens. Ill be back!
The employees are extremely rude. We went in today and my 3 year old accidentally knocks a charm on the ground. A little section came unhooked from the rest of the charm so I put it back together. You would have thought we destroyed the entire store. The lady at the register was beyond rude. I’ll never be back and will discourage anyone from going there.
Mostly greeting cards, but also sells some gift items as well as personalized invitations. Had a good selection of micron pens, brush lettering markers, fountain pens, and several different brands of ink.
Cute friendly stationary shop.
I wouldn’t go back.
Im crazy about Occasions. They have an excellent selection of cards, papers, writing instruments, inks, etc. The staff is friendly and helpful. Theres always something new. Good gift items. An amazing amount of nice things in a small shop. Parking is easy.
My family came in to see if they have origami paper. The lady working said sorry we do not have that type of paper, all good so far. While we where there, our kids needed new journals so we decided to look and purchase two journals and new pens. So here is why Im giving this store 1 star. While we where looking for journals for our kids and browsing the store. The lady came up to our girls which are 10 and 8 and very responsible and said let me take your drinks (which had lids with stickers covering the openings), but not our drinks we were holding, and placed our daughters drinks on her counter without any explanation. The girls asked for their drinks back very politely, and the lady said no they are fine right here, with no further explanation. She didnt explain to us why she was taking our daughters covered drinks, and not ours, and we didnt see any sign saying do not bring in food or drink products. It was very rude of her to assume that our children wouldnt be able to walk through her store without spilling, but that we adults were fine. It felt very biased, as if she had something against our children. Theres a coffee shop across the breeze way FYI. Beside not explaining why she was doing it, she also didnt smile, or say thank you. While our girls were picking out their journals the lady was just standing there staring at us like we were going to steal something. It was a very uncomfortable feeling. The lady seemed annoyed that we were even in the shop. We wont be going in that shop in the future. Customer service was horrible (5/17/2018).
Just wanted to say how much I enjoyed this store! Bought the book “Illuminated Letters” by Jane Sullivan. Such a great purchase! Having so much fun with it!
Nice store
