Our boiler went out two days before Thanksgiving, not great timing. We made a call on the emergency line and got a quick call back. Charlie was out promptly and scheduled an install for the following day, the removal of the old unit and install of new unit usually takes two days but Charlie and Howard stayed until it was completely done so we would have heat and hot water on Thanksgiving. They took the extra time needed to make sure all the units were working properly. I was so grateful for the time and work they put in. Customer service like this is rare. Definitely a 5 star experience. Thank you

Today I called to receive oil .The customer service was prompt and ready for me to spend money with them. I was charged for my delivery of oil. My tank was filled up and I went to start it up wouldn’t start thought maybe I needed a prime called them back and literally was just told and charged 50 bucks for a prime nothing else...no stipulations, no extra fees, nothing else was said .technician came and discovered my switch was off so I took the loss and realized I paid 50 bucks for him to come out (my mess up) but then I received an additional charge of 55 bucks because of a service fee and 15 mins of work ... none of this was explained to me over the phone before just “it’s 50 bucks”..the customer service agent said I was ill informed and she’s sorry for my mistake of not knowing I would be charged and additional 55 bucks... then gave me an Ultimatum to either pay 75 of the 105 I was being charged and keep business with them or I can get the additional 55 back that wasn’t explained to be charged at all just the original 50 bucks and not received their services anymore .I obviously wanted to be charged what I was told I’d be charged nothing more.The level of rudeness and disregard for doing they’re job right as a customer service individual was beyond me.

My oil tank sunk into the ground and tilted and ultimately cracked, I needed a new one and quick. Shellhorn & Hill came out right away and replaced my old tank, hooked up a new tank and even saved the oil that was left in my old tank so I could reuse it in my new tank. Denise from dispatch was awesome, when I called she knew her stuff! Was super knowledgeable, caring, and I could tell how genuine of a person she was. I called several places to get quotes and they were all comparable. The reason I went with Shellhorn & Hill was because of Denise’s customer service from the first interaction I had with her. Charlie and Jim were the guys that came out to replace my tank. They are really great guys. Very friendly and even stood out in the pouring rain to get the job done. They cleaned up the space better than they found it. Thank you very much for being here when I needed you. My family is grateful and you have a lifetime customer from us. I scheduled my AC checkup for the two units (two zone) I installed 17 years ago. I was lucky to have Kelly as my tech again ... he always does a great job and clearly explains what he is doing (and what I should do for maintenance) ... and what to watch for in my older units. He arrived on time and finished on schedule. Great job.

I definitely recommend Shellhorn and Hill..Jim the tech had the tenacity and knowledge to repair my furnance. Thanks to him I have heat and hot water again. The office staff was polite and accommodated my schedule.

Weve had Shellhorn and Hill for years! From our first house (oil heat) to our 4th house (gas heat). We have never been unsatisfied. We had them install a new air conditioning system a couple of years ago (CALVERT who I will warn everyone to stay away from) installed a faulty unit. The 2 men who came out to install a new one were great! Prompt and very professional. We have never ever been disappointed with them. I highly recommend them.

We have the Bronze Service Contract for boiler service for a few years now, and last weekend we called for a leaky circulator. After technician replaced the circulator (Taco 007), he presented me and my wife with paperwork to sign, he charged $75 for the call, $120 for labor which is fair, but $531 for this part on the ticket seemed high. The same part from local supply store for about $120 and online for $80. He assured me this is just the book price, and the final bill will come to me from the office since this is a weekend call. He asked me to sign to acknowledge the work has been done, so my mistake that I did.Today, I received a call from the owner stating this is the correct cost to me because he has to pay his guys salary and the fuel driving this part (8 pounds) on his truck!!! I offered to buy the same part to return it, but he refused it. I understand a company charging 15-20% more than the cost of a part, but not 400-500% more. So after the $400 annual service contract, this is one hell expensive service.I will never deal with this company again.

Would give negative stars if possible. they overfilled my tank and spill oil all over the basement. they did clean it but the fumes are terrible and mike hill jr. refused to pay for a hotel or alternate arrangements while the house ventilated. he said to leave the windows open and stay there. it is 30 degrees outside! Terrible experience. House still smells. AND THEY BILLED ME FOR THE OIL!!

I don’t usually write these type of reviews but I couldn’t find any other way to direct my frustration toward Shellhorn & Hill. Few weeks back during the coldest time, my propertys oil tank for heat/furnace decided to give up and start leaking oil. Tenant out of panic called 911 and emergency services came out to help. They pumped out all the oil into drums and cleaned the oil spill. Next morning Sunday called some HVAC company and found out only those who sell oil will normally install tanks as well. So called Shellhorn and found they do install oil tanks. Proceeded to scheduled appointment earliest possible which was next business day Monday. Meanwhile on Sunday, went to the property (3hrs away) to do some cleanup, check situation and provide portable heaters to keep house warm for time being.The 275gal Oil tank is located in basement 1ft away to the exit door, and door leads to parking spot in a back alley. There is absolutely no up or down steps, easy in and out. Monday technician showed and quote came out $2500. Called some other company, quote came out about hundred lower based on verbal description without actually coming out. So proceeded with Shellhorn since its seemed more reputable and because we were desperate, signed contract payed deposit %50 deposit. Next day Tuesday, they came out and did their job. No complain on customer service, no complain on installation, timeline was good everything good happy.Later found out from some other professionals while sharing experience that job could have been done for %50 less. Further looking into this issue found facts that job indeed could have been done for less. Oil was already out of the tank, removal and install wasn’t supposed to cost $2k not to mention tanks and materials top out at $500-700. The contract was vague with just the total cost and no description on work done, material whatsoever.I know they are probably happy with a nice easy job done ripping off custom. And of course me as the customer cant do anything other that write this post. I the unfair paid and learned a hard lesson. All I want is to share this experience with those who might run into same situation and release some of my frustration. FYI, In case you delete this post I am posting this in several consumer review sites so that it comes up when your company name is searched. Feel free to contact me if you decide to address this issue differently.

I am not happy with there service they gave me a price over the phone they took the money at that time. i make sure to tell them what i need done i payed over the phone! then we get this person to come out and take advantage of my wife saying he did not no what was to be done he did things that was not needed.when i came in now he done. NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!

They sent about 5 vans with 10+ guys who spent 15 hours in my house until 11pm on Friday night installing an entire new furnace because mine was not fixable and I had a week old baby in a freezing house.
