This was my first experience ordering metal and worried I was taking a risk. In the end, Im a very happy customer. From order to arrival 700 miles away was about 9 days, which is a few days better than what I expected for custom cuts and shipping freight. Order arrived in good shape and well packaged so it was easy to remove from the freight truck. I got exactly what I expected including some custom cutting for rectangles, tubes and L bars of different sizes. The metal is in great shape having been manufactured in the past few months. I was worried that the pieces may have been sitting around corroding. Nothing of the sort.

I have used this company many times to buy metal for my projects. There website is very user-friendly. They also provide alot of information about the metals they sell on the site, which is quite helpful. There prices are reasonable and so far have had everything i have needed. I highly recommend using this company.

Worst company ever, I ordered a 2 OD pipe and they sent me 2.75... When I asked for a refund they told me it would be not even worth it.Edit: Maybe you should specify better in your advertisement. Waste of money. And the fact you charge 30% to put a 2 foot piece of pipe back on the shelf is TOTAL BS

Metals Depot, used this Kentucky company to buy steel, user-friendly website to easily find specific metal parts, an accurate shipping calculator at checkout, and it only took 6 days for them to ship it here 2 states away with high-quality packaging. However, due to design changes for my project, two out of the 10 items I ordered were sadly incorrect items that ended up being slightly too excessively big, which didnt give me enough thread space for my 9/16 bolts. I tried sending them an email through my Metals Depot account, and another email through my personal gmail on a Sunday, company opens at 8AM-5PM Mon-Fri only, 10:30ish AM Monday morning still had no response from either at the time, but since they only process returns within 10 days upon delivery I thus was obviously seeking a more urgent response, so they have a chat window option on their main website page, upon talking to their representative, Whitley unfortunately informed me that their 2ft 2 X 2 X 1/4 wall A500 Square Steel Tubes #T122250 are not stock items, The 2 footers are cut from full lengths. Those are non returnable. However, on the web page for steel square tubes that I ordered it from, it states at the top, AVAILABLE STOCK SIZES:2ft, 4ft. 6ft, 8ft, 12ft, 24ft, or Cut to Size, but though their website states the 2 footers are stock sizes, when you contact them about this the company states theyre not, so for constructive feedback I honestly recommend that Metals Depot should fix and edit that webpage, add to the bottom of that, AVAILABLE STOCK SIZES statement with an exception to that stock metal policy with something like this, *2ft 2x2x11 gauge square steel tubes are classified as custom cuts*, the way it is right now its just seems like outdated information . I originally ordered those 2 #T122250s thinking that they are stock sizes, since stock metal is already pre-cut they would have been faster to be packaged for quicker shipping compared to custom cuts. Just a heads-up for others that they dont accept any returns for any 2ft #T122250s since they are actually custom cuts and not considered as stock items, thus they dont offer returns for, special order item/non-standard/custom cuts according to #15 Returns & Cancellations in their Terms of Sale & Use.

Stopped in to get 3 foot of aluminum round. Ive been sitting in the parking lot waiting for it for well over an hour. Watched 4 other people come and go with a lot more stuff than I bought. Ill not come back!

I had a great experience with Metals Depot all around. My first order came bent. I sent pictures and they had wonderful customer service and they were able to ship me a new piece very quickly! I would recommend them if you need some metal👍

Ive ordered from Metals Depot a few different times and have been generally happy with their service and products.But it seems like things have been slipping lately.Most recently, I made an order which did not get shipped within their 1-3 day processing window. Not a custom, large or complicated order, just two 2 long pieces of steel tube. I wrote on the fourth day to ask about the status of the order. Later that day, the order shipped, but Metals Depot did not see fit to reply to my email and explain the delay. Not great on the communication front, but maybe this review will elicit a response.Also, on my last order previous to this, which was a larger order, I selected R&L Carriers as the shipper, which was an absolute nightmare to work with in arranging a delivery. It took another 10 days (and many excuses and runarounds) after the order should have arrived, to convince R&L to actually deliver the steel. This is not Metals Depots issue except that they offer R&L as an option, which they might want to reconsider.UPDATE:After posting this review I received an email from Kara at Metals Depot Inside Sales advising me that the order shipped yesterday, and providing a tracking number. Information I already knew. Still no apology or explanation for the delay.

I order regularly from here and have always been happy with my orders. I recently requested a custom cut diamond plate over 2 ft by 2ft expecting it would be bent up during shipping. But it arrived well packed and completely flat. Theyve earned my repeat business.

☹️The negative---Ordered 5 pieces of metal (4 custom lengths=4 cuts) on Friday at 2:00 pm hoping to have them by the following Friday for a project. Shipping label was created 4 work days later on Thursday, order left warehouse that night at 8pm was and received Tuesday, so expect 1 day for every piece cut before it leaves the warehouse. Also when they say +-1/16 or 1/8 they mean minus. Each piece custom cut was exactly minus the blade width (inside the line cuts so give your measurements extra if it will mater, mine didnt). Lightweight cardboard box was torn in half, luckily my UPS guy is awesome and all the pieces were still with the two halves.The positive😄---seems to be good product and cheaper than my local metals supermarket. Will try a company from Dallas on next order.

I had a small order of stainless steel and shipping was timely but 1st shipment, package arrived but nothing in it. Metal not package right and came out of the package I guess. No problem customer service shipped replacement a couple more different times and each time, metal not cut to order specs. Most all communications was with customer service lady E. Very helpful and concerned, but beginning to think communications breakdown at their warehouse. I finally requested a cancellation of my order and that went unanswered. I am not saying I would not order from them again as have previously ordered with no problems, but do it with tongue in cheek.

Last week when I called, Heather answered the call and was very helpful with the questions I had! Great customer service!

I have placed two orders recently and very pleased with the quality of the product, speed of processing and the condition of the order once it arrives. They package the orders to protect the ends and edges. I placed an on line order on Saturday and called Monday morning to make changes. Order was changed with no problems and the order arrived the next day. I have not purchased any custom work.

I used their chat system online to secure a quote, and then placed the order via phone to convey payment. I thought the quote was for angles as we discussed, but they shipped tubes. They demanded I pay shipping back to them to correct the error + shipping of appropriate items + 30% restocking fee. They were miserable to deal with and I won’t do it again!

Placed an order for 1 x 1 Hot Rolled A-36 Steel Square March 4th about 7:30pm CST. Within minutes, by 7:39pm CST, I received a reply with the message, “Your order will begin processing and should ship within 1 - 3 Business Days.”. 1-3 Business Days in bold font. On the forth business day, I called customer service around 10am CST. Shortly thereafter, I received notification the order shipped. It was outside the timeframe stated on the confirmation email, so I asked why it shipped late. Apparently there was a note on the ordering page that said it could take longer to process a custom order - missed that part. Anyway, no help other than to imply I messed up not catching the note, and that I should have followed up with a phone call earlier. Since I needed the material for a weekend project, I asked if it could be shipped faster. They said, yes absolutely, but it would cost extra - above and beyond the 3-day expedited service I paid for at order stage. At this point, I have $9.40 in material and $25.85 in shipping. I declined, thinking I could cancel the order or refuse the package and source the material locally. That was met with reciting their no refunds policy on custom orders. Again, I missed that part during the ordering page. Anyway, the material shipped within expedited shipping lead time and it was fine, so those parts scored two stars. If you are looking for good customer service, customer friendly policies, and clear website disclosures, shop elsewhere.I expect Metals Depot will respond to this post, like they did to others who provided negative feedback, referencing their policies and/or implying they did everything right (read their previous responses - repeating themes)

Attention!Shipping cost are set arbitrarily. Same size sheets quoted, same delivery company.Thinner sheets, weight 220 Lbs = $ 110.00 shipping cost.Thick sheets, weight 300 Lbs= $ 70.00 shipping cost.Confronted them over the phone, manager told me to have a nice day.Ill take my business elsewhere.

I wish they were open on Saturdays so working people could buy some steel I work Monday thru friday and get off at 5pm everyday so I never get to buy anything from them. They would sell a hell of lot more steel for the weekend warriors around their area for sure.

I am a fully satisfied customer. I have used Metals Depot at least a half dozen times. Things always are exactly what I expected and delivered as promised. My orders are small for home DIY use. I am glad I dont get clobbered by special fees on small orders.Sometimes IF I am in a hurry I might go to a local hardware store. But they offer only a small subset of what is offered at Metals Depot. At the hardware store I never know what the detailed steel or aluminum specification (chemistry, heat treat,...) is. That often matters to me.

I ordered 2 small pieces of aluminum and they came packaged really good and turned out really good. I received the items sooner than expected. I will definitely be ordering from them in the future.

Metals Depot can make whatever quantity and size you need, the website is easy to use, and the customer service and staff at Metals Depot are top notch! The only corners they cut are the ones you request. :-) Highly recommended.

My order arrived damaged which I understood. I called them and they gave me my options: a discount or returning and reshipping a replacement. Unbeknownst to me, they only give you 10 days to determine what youre going to do. In ordinary circumstances, thats reasonable but when that ten days falls in the Holidays, I find their lack of flexibility unacceptable. This couldve been a 5 star review but their customer service (or lack thereof) is lacking.EDIT: After this review and a BBB complaint I was contacted by their customer service department and they remedied the situation. Im amending the review from 1 star to 3 star.

This company is a giant waste of everybody’s time. The people on the sales side seem to be very friendly. God forbid you have a return and have to deal with the manager regarding a return. Lesson learned. My purchase was $577 total. After the 30% restock fee the chargeback on shipping and me shipping back with my own account I would get $161 back for a product that is in the original packaging as it was sent to me. A 30-year-old policy is the defense. Laughable. By the way the product is still on opened and in the exact same boxes you shipped to me with zero damage. I even offered to send you pictures for proof. No return email. Bad business. By the way you even failed to ship out the product on time and I had to reschedule my concrete cutter at my expense. No apology no discount nothing but a hassle.Update: After sending pictures of the product and the multiple issues with the metalwork they agreed to take the merchandise back and refund 100 percent of my money. I’m changing my review to five stars only because of one employee that I interacted with. Kara in the sales department has incredible communication and really does care about her customers. You can always tell when you’re working with an absolute professional that not only knows her craft but realizes that the customer is the most important thing for the long-term success of a business. I couldn’t be more happy with the service she provided. All of my issues were generated by policies that were completely out of her control. The only reason I will do business with this company in the future is if I can work with Kara. Not sure if she will ever see this review but if she does I hope she knows she is appreciated by me and all of her other customers.

Although prices are decent and you can get things shipped right to you the shipping speeds are UNACCEPTABLE. I placed an order on the 7th and here it is the 22nd and it still hasnt arrived. It was supposed to be here the 21st. I depend on my orders to arrive in a timely manner. Never again, i need a competent company that can provide timely shipping speeds. This is the second and LAST time i will deal with this incompetence.

Sent in a quote request for a specialty item. It was for a single 3x4 foot 16 gauge sheet with slotted perforations. They quickly responded with an astonishingly high price of $300 for just 15 pound sheet! I went to McNICHOLS website and saw similar products for $50 to $55. Will buy there instead. Metal Depot seems to have good service so they got two stars instead of one. On the other hand, the prices are outrageous!

I worked there for two weeks the boss eric leadford has zero respect for employees! Almost the whole factory is druggies running around messing everything up. After a policy disagreement. I told them i would abide policy but I put in a two week notice. They owner called me in the office cussing me bad and would not let me finish my shift or the two weeks!! Worst Experience ever, very slow to process payment and slow to ship too. when I cancelled the order because of ETA, they charged me 30 % restock fee on an order of $5,228.25.I edit my review, and turn it positive because vendor at the end was very considered. I have several projects that need ALL sorts of different type of metal tubing, angle, and flat steel.Aluminum, steel and stainless have all been in their scrap pile and special sizes in their inside storage racks. These guys are great to let me Shop around with my tape measure and calipers to get just the right needed material. This is a gold mine for the hobbiest and DIY guy. This is my go to supplier. Prices are very, very reasonable too!

Had a huge order and I was depending on getting it within the time frame provided. Not only did I not get my order in the time frame I was told but my order was totally wrong nothing I ordered was on the pallet sent out to me. Kara Puckett took my order but from looking at the other reviews apparently she is to busy with other peoples husbands to do her job. Had never had an issue any order before this but after having to deal with her attitude, rudeness, and frustration toward me over my order being wrong I will not be a returning customer.

I had a fairly large order, almost 400lbs. Placed order on 5-19, order shipped on 5-24, arrived 5/25. I had a mix of plate steel, sheet aluminum, and square tubing. Order was packaged well and arrived in excellent condition. Processing did seem to take a little long, but local suppliers were not able to service my needs in the same time frame. Cost of material is comparable to local shops. A little high on some pieces and a little lower on others. Over all was a good experience.
