I just wanted to commend your team at the Woodbridge and Herndon locations! I traded in my bike through the Giant TradeUp program and it seemed like a disaster. However, Tomas at the Woodbridge store provided the BEST customer service Ive had in a long time! He was helpful, insightful and extremely patient. Not to mention, at any point I needed to contact someone regarding the trad-up he always had an answer and if not, he certainly contacted someone else to get me the answers I needed. Colin at the Herndon location was very knowledgeable and helpful as well! He was able to locate the Trance X 29 2 in my size and drive it down to the Woodbridge store so that I could pick it up. Ben the Giant Rep. was also very helpful with contacting Giant to discuss the logistics of this process on the back end. All in all - someone buy these guys a beer because they not only made this process smooth, they also made it one of the best bike shop interactions Ive ever had.Cheers,Russ

I needed cycling shoes and wanted to try them on. So I wanted to go to a place that would have some options. So I went here. They had shoes on all displayed on a wall which was nice. However, one even came to see if I needed any help or told met they would be with me in a minute. I pick up every cycling shoe to see the weight, flexibility and such. I was there over 5 minutes checking out the shoes. No one came to see if i needed help and They didnt have any out to even try on myself so I left. I went to a REI and purchased shoes.

My personal bike was STOLEN out of this shop in September of 2020. I took it in for a tune up. They do not lock up the bikes you bring in. Someone walked out with it. They filed a police report and waited. Waited a little too long. It’s now May 2021. After filing with the bbb they called us for us to come look at a replacement bike or they would give us 200 cash. (Blue book value, 8 years old, ) We have been going back and forth with this issue. After us having to keep calling with no solid answer before the bbb review, we decided we didn’t want to do business with them. Now that we are not in need of a new bike, the replacement is not necessary. If we walked in there to sell them our bike the blue book value would seem reasonable. That’s not what we did. We brought in a seven hundred dollar bike that was in storage for 6 years to be tuned up. We realize we are probably s.o.l. with this. Update: they claim the staff knew we were coming or we would be right back? We were out of town in Boston and told them when we dropped it off that we would back the following weekend. No set time. My husband for reasons isn’t allowed to have his personal phone on him at all times. My husband did call back. Many times. The person in charge was not there and the few times he was he had to still get an answer from someone else and get back to us. We stopped by in person twice, this person wasn’t there. My review is mainly hoping that they keep a better eye on others properties. Also, it might be a good idea to use emails once in awhile.

I purchased my first bike from Old towne bicycles.I had a hybrid and fell in love with the hobby. The time came for me to upgrade to a road bike.I gotta tell you. The level of experience and expertise is through the roof. The technicians there helped sized me, test drive multiple road bikes and even suggested multiple bikes regardless of price.I ended with a perfectly sized and fitted giant contend road bike... And I love it!!!!!I highly recommend this place!Give it a shot you wont regret it!!!

Kudos to the A1 staff and their ability to provide timely bike repairs. I dropped in and inquired about them replacing a cable on my bike and they said they could do it within 2 days. Dropped the bike off, asked for both cables to be replaced new bar tape and to check the brakes and chain. I approved the chain replacement but they notified me it was not needed after checking over the bike. I got the bike back in less than the 2 full days they estimated. Work looks great and they we great to work with.

Horrible customer service. Bought a bike and it was assembled poorly. The directional chain was on backwards, the cranks were loose, the derailleur limit screws were not properly set, nor were the gears indexed properly, and other myriad of issues. I had one issue that i took it in to get looked at, and they return it with a complete different issue. They claim that this would NOT be covered under warranty. this wasn’t even the issue I took it in for. The situation was shady because the mechanic didn’t come talk to me about it. The manager went back to the shop, they talked for a minute before coming out. Very little willingness to help. I’m going to be selling this bike just so I don’t have to deal with them should any other issue arise.

I made it aware to the sales person he told me to come back the next day which I did. Guy told me part won’t be in tell June. June came around and still no part. It’s September and I still have a $700 bike with a broken part. Still haven’t got no update on why it hasn’t been fixed. disappointed on there customer service. Stay away or if you go make sure it’s not broken because they won’t fix it just lie to your face that there going to.

Took bike in for a tune-up. Turned it in with a little splattered mud. Got it back in the same condition. They do not clean your bike. Specifically asked that they take care of the squeaking noise coming from the front fork. They did not. Specifically asked that they look at what is causing a clicking sound in the front sprocket. Clicking noise is not as loud, but not eliminated. None of this was mentioned to me when I picked up the bike. They get two stars, because they performed a perfect adjustment of the derailleurs and brakes.

I can not recommend A 1 Cycling, they overcharged for the bike repair and did not repair the bike as promised. I have been looking to get back into mountain biking for a few years and finally took the plunge. I bought a used bike online and was now looking for a reputable shop. I came across A1 Cycling in Woodbridge and havent looked back. The staff has been a great help, not only getting my bike trail ready, but showing me many items in which i can do on my own (prior bike mechanic 15 years ago). They arent just in it to take your money like other shops. They will sit and talk shop with you and are genuine bike guys through and through. The manager, Rodrick, has been great to me and has helped me get back in the saddle quicker than I ever thought possible. Service is top notch, prices are great, and it is a great place to even swing by and chat bike stuff with the employees. I cannot recommend this place enough and will be a customer for life. Thanks for everything Rod and thank you A1 Cycling!!

I think this is a good shop. The older man (I think his name is Terry) is a little rough around the edges I dropped my bike off yesterday and he made me almost regret going there because of his abrasive personality. I picked my bike up today and had a completely different experience with Rod, the manager with the beard; he was excellent. Answered all the question a I had about my bike and made me feel comfortable and welcome. He even looked up the required pressure of my front shock to my body weight and dialed it in for me. I know I didn’t buy my bike from this shop but my experience with Rod today will bring me and my money back to have my bike serviced at this bike shop. They know what they are doing and encouraged me to get in touch with any questions I had about my bike as they want to be considered as an “information hub.” Rod was exactly the type of person you’d want to help you and the type of person I expected to help motivate me to be a part of the biking community.

Not a large space at all mind you. After not being able to find the item I walked over to the employee only area and had one guy look me in my face and still not say a word. Another guy walks out and about to pass by me then I tell him Im looking for an item I called in about. So he asked the employee who didnt speak to help and he didnt seem to enthused to help me. One employee Jake seemed to be friendlier and gave me 10% military discount after I asked if they offered it with my idso I will give 2 stars instead of one for that. I will start by providing some background, I have been ridding BMX for over 15 years and am pretty knowledgeable about bike repair for the most part. I had recently bought New rims, hubs, and spokes and was able to lace them up easily. However, I have never mastered the art of truing out a wheel, for that I had to go to a bike shop. Living in Woodbridge, I looked for the closest bike shop near my home which was Olde Towne Bicycles. When I dropped my wheels off Steve had a bit of an Attitude and was mildly abrasive, I said nothing because I just wanted my wheels taken care of and I am very understanding of their situation currently: out of stock and overwhelmed with the amount of people coming in. I get it. When going in to pick my wheels up, They were able to true the front wheel for me but stated they were unable to true the back wheel because “the spoke sizes are wrong”, despite the fact that I did all my research prior to purchase of the spokes to ensure I had the correct sizing. They then told me it would be best to just have them build the wheel using all new spokes they would source. I was told this would cost me $215+ for a single wheel! It was obvious that they were trying to turn a $20 truing job into a $215+ job by misinforming me. What was also obvious was that who ever attempted to true the back wheel didn’t know what the hell they were doing and actually scratched these brand new rims. One whole side of the wheel was tightened down so much some of the spokes were stripped out, almost warping this rim to the point being unusable. Some spokes were so damaged by them they had to be replaced, good thing I had a few extra. Thankfully I was smart enough not to take the bait and took it to another shop for a second opinion. I went to A-1 cycling bikes here in Woodbridge and spoke with their bike Tech Marcus. Marcus immediately confirmed what I thought, the spoke sizes were correct and wheel was so over tighten on that one side that it had to be loosened ASAP in order to preserve the structural integrity of the rim. Marcus was empathetic and explained to me that their best wheel tech was Colin who worked at the Herndon location. Today called ahead and spoke with Jake who was awesome! He told me to come right in and that they would be able to help me same day. I Drove down there, which is about 50 minutes from my house, and met with Colin. Colin was amazing and told me I had in fact had the correct spoke sizes! He complimented me on my ability to lace a rim and quickly got to work. He was able to true out the wheel and was so nice and professional. I cannot express how happy I am with the service provided at BOTH A-1 cycling bike shops. **if you want your bike needs taken care of by Competent, compassionate, and professional people, go to A-1! The whole staff was awesome, if I could give you a 10 star rating I would. Thank you guys so much! Sorry for the novel-length review.

I would rate this establishment a zero if it would let me!! My husband and I brought our kids into the store today to look at new bikes. We were greeted at the door by a gentleman who says he is the owner - but after this exchange would not give us his name. Upon being greeted, we told him we are in the market for new bikes. We asked if we could get our kids sized. His response was “yeah, but do you want to just get them sized or are you actually going to be buying bikes?” Excuse me?? The store was empty. They are open for another two hours. How do you expect to get my business starting with a question like that?! We told you we are in the market for new bikes. The starting point is to see what size they need. From there, be a salesman and sell me a couple bikes! Instead, your snarky bad business has me going elsewhere. My kids walked in excited for new bikes and walked out disappointed. I will make sure everyone I know stays away from here!

A class act store. The workers are knowledgeable and helpful. I went in looking to possibly rent a snowboard for a last minute trip. They were able to accommodate and cheaper than anyone anywhere. They have an option where you can rent for an entire season for only a few bucks more. If you rent more than once this is the option for you. I was informed from the beginning about their boot fit policy and it was worth it. Never before have I learned more about how to find the right boot and how to wear the boot properly. They did credit the fee back since I bought a pair of boots but even if I had not purchased a boot their it was worth it. The employees are friendly and the prices are not bad at all. I will be returning for any future purchases.

I dont have enough nice things to say about this place...the staff is all extremely helpful. Most of my interactions have been with Terry, who from what I understand does the vast majority of the mechanical work. I recently got a higher end full-suspension bike on the internet and Terry did the assembly for me. That was my first visit with that bike (assembly price was also cheaper than the local big box store) and the bike felt great right away, Terry and Tom (the owner) both took time to set-up and adjust the bike to me when I picked it up. As with new equipment there are always some quirks after the first few rides and sometimes you might even mess stuff up tinkering with it on your own...Ive brought the bike back to Terry 2 more times since to clean up and tap threads that I jacked up myself sapping pedals and to check out a cable that stretched out on its own after a few rides and he returned it to perfection extremely quickly. The mechanical and personal service at this place has been first-class for me (not a knock on the big box store, because I love that place too) you cant beat a really good, local small shop. Ive never been on anything but a mountain bike but Im going to buy a road bike with their advice and set-up in the very near future.
