Very unhappy, jacked up my rate from 2.419 to 3.13 although I am under contract and pay monthly. They came up with the total number of gallons but nowhere in the contract do they state I will have to pay the MARKET RATE if I use more oil while under contract. Wish I had another heating options but Im stuck with this. Shopping for a different company!!

Back a few years ago, my wife noticed a small leak from the underside of the oil tank. The following day I was off work so I immediately drove down to Pioneer Oils old office first thing in the morning. I was greeted when I walked in to share my issue and they immediately dispatched someone to take a look at the issue. First thing, they did was put a temporary plug on the tank and advised that the tank will need to be replaced. Thankfully, I had paid my tank insurance 2 weeks prior as the new tank was covered by the insurance which saved us $2000.00. Within a couple days, they arranged to have a old tank removed and a new one removed. In additon, they did some new piping in front of our living room bay window to meet the necessary code. I was very thankful for the servce they provided especially in removing and installing the new tank within a few days. In addiition, since we are on a monthly budget we never have to call for oil delivery as they monitor it and delivery when necessary according to their records.

Very disgruntled customer after nearly twenty years. Joe from Pioneer gave me a highly inflated quote for a new boiler. I used a competitor instead, but kept Pioneer for oil out of loyalty. When the Pioneer tech came to service the brand new boiler, the nozzle was adjusted to use more oil, he spilled oil on some items, and broke the gauge on my oil tank--none of which Pioneer will own up to or repair now. They also never notified me they were using such a high percentage of biofuel, which gummed up the readjusted nozzle and caused the brand new boiler to leak out and flood my basement during a cold snap last winter. The customer service staff that answers the phones are not helpful and I have been dumped as a customer after filing a complaint with the BBB.

Pioneer technicians are great!!!! They came to fix my furnace right away. Edward H. was very nice and explain everything about my furnace history . Tom C. Is the “furnace whisper “ .He is the man that if the furnace doesn’t want to work, he knows what to do to make it work and he also went above and beyond by sealing up my furnace and preforming a test to see how well my furnace was burning oil. I would not mind having these technicians again.

I am so glad I found an oil company with great customer service. In August 2011 I decided to get a new furnace as mine was 65 years old and on its way out. I had a feeling I was going to make it through another winter. I called about 5 oil companies to give me prices. I was also starting a new job in a week and needed to get this done in a week time frame. My furnace also needed asbestos removed. Pioneer oil gave me a great price and bent over backwards to make sure my furnace was installed and up and running in the week time frame I gave them. They are awesome. Their oil techs are awesome. Why did I take so long to post this. Because everything is usually great when you first do business with a company, but my question is how good are they down the road. I must say its been over 2 years and they are still wonderful to do business with.The oil company I had previous to Pioneer had great oil techs but the office people neglected year after year to NOT send me a oil contract resulting in me paying higher oil prices.

We had Pioneer oil for over 10 years. They always go above and beyond when it comes to customer service. We lost our heat twice this year, and were thrilled to have them come out promptly and got us warm in no time. They recently replaced our Boiler and did an outstanding job. Joe Germain helped with every step of the way including all the paperwork for rebates. We highly recommend Pioneer.

Technician Albert helped me with an issue last Sunday afternoon. After calling Pioneer, Albert called me within 5 minutes. We werent able to resolve the issue over the phone (my fault), so he came to the house and was able to fix it fairly quickly. He was professional, friendly, and thorough. Pioneer has always been great and this experience was no different.

We have been customers of Pioneer Oil for more than 23 years. They are very responsive, their service is outstanding and their budgets plans are very helpful. We recently replaced our 14 year old water heater and 24 year old furnace through Pioneer. In addition to the furnace, Pioneer re-engineered our duct work providing much more consistent heating and eliminating a significant amount of noise. My wife and I were extremely pleased with their customer service, project managers and on-site technicians during regular maintenance and installations.

I had a new furnace and water tank installed by Pioneer Oil and Propane. They were punctual, explained everything they were doing and answered all my questions.The installation took all day and they removed all the old appliances and cleaned up very nicely. Any furniture that had to be removed to bring the equipment in and out was put back very neatly. Joe G. came in the morning when the crew arrived and also came back when the job was done. My experience with Joe G. and Pioneer Oil for the installation was excellent and I highly recommend them.

After having a heating oil account with Pioneer, I recently signed up for propane as well. After scheduling the installation I had to reschedule at the last minute which Pioneer was able to accommodate. Once the installation was rescheduled the crew including Gil and Joe G was very professional and installed the new propane tank efficiently. The customer service was outstanding and Gil and Joe took the time after the installation to make sure that I didnt have any issues or questions about the propane tank or heating system. I would definitely recommend Pioneer to anyone looking for oil or propane services.

I was extremely pleased and satisfied with the work done by the Pioneer team of project manager Joe G. and service technicians Chris, Chris, and Wayne. They installed a new oil fired boiler in one day as promised and at a very reasonable price that included removal and disposal of the old boiler. The service technicians were very knowledgeable, worked very efficiently together with little disruption to the functioning of my house, and they cleaned the work space completely at the conclusion of their work. I believe you would find it difficult to find a company that could do as good a job as Pioneer did for me.

Most recently, a leaking oil tank had to be replaced and Wayne, Albert, and Brian could not have been more professional and careful. I met Joe Germain through Marr Oil, I had been a client for years, where Joe went, I followed.I had to reach out on a cold Friday night to have someone look at my heating system and called Pioneer. He was so caring and kind and tried everything he could to save my system, but there was nothing they could do except replace the system. Joe Germain called me early the next morning, happen to be a Saturday, and discussed options, pricing and really had sympathy for what had happened. He quickly put his plan into play and had two techs out there that Monday morning and replaced the entire system in less than 8 hours. They were clean and kind and the system runs beautiful! After checking reviews I know for a fact I would not have received the service from any other propane company. We recently purchased a home in Central Massachusetts and the previous owner had used Pioneer Oil & Propane for years and had nothing but great things to say about the company so we decided to continue to use them as our service provider. This has turned out to be a great decision and I have had several excellent experiences with the company.The customer service staff made the change over from the previous owner and enrollment to an auto oil delivery plan a breeze. We have also had wonderful experiences with the service staff since moving in as well. Service and per gallon oil prices are reasonable and the team is RESPONSIVE!!!1. Early last fall we scheduled the annual maintenance of our boiler and they were out within a few weeks (not an emergency call and I thought this was great turn around time given the fact that I called to schedule in mid-October).2. We had some issues with one of our heat zones in late November. Called Pioneer in the morning, they had someone out in the afternoon and the problem was solved in under two hours. The technician that came out also believed there was another issue (that would have been costly) but upon consultation with the service manager it was confirmed it was a non issue which speaks to their honesty with their customers.3. Last night I discovered a very small leak in our above ground oil storage tank. We called at 9pm, received a call back at 9:10pm and Zach M. (service tech) was at my doorstep at 10pm. Zach was able to quickly patch the leak to hold us over until the morning. Joe (service manager) called me at 7:30am the following morning, was here at 8:00am at which point he triaged the issue and the team is on site as I write removing and replacing my old tank at a reasonable price.Bottom line here is that Pioneer Oil & Propane has provided nothing short of exceptional customer service on a repeated and consistent basis. You cant go wrong with this company and its team.

Ive been with Pioneer Oil since I bought my house 11+ years ago. They have provided me with oil at fair prices, replaced my furnace when needed and the one time we found ourselves without heat, in the middle of the night, with a newborn baby!, they were here within an hour and got us running again.It can be unclear as to what you are getting for services. I prepay for the year and I dont think I get a yearly service on the furnace included. I feel like I used to when I used to pay-by-the-month.

Ive been a customer since 1994. Dave and his crew have always been there for me whenever I have a problem or just a question. Dave is an expert in his field and keeps up with the latest research and trends. A few years ago when oil prices skyrocketed in the middle of the season and other oil companies refused to honor their contracts with customers (my neighbor was one who got taken advantage of), Pioneer held fast and refused to raise the prices even though they had to have taken a loss that year. I have never thought to look around and compare prices in the 20 years Ive been with Pioneer because I know Dave and Pioneer Oil are giving me the best price they can. No matter how high the prices go, their service more than makes up for the increases.

Weve had Pioneer oil for over 20 years, love their prepay process, never have to worry about getting a delivery. Recently our pipes froze and they were there working to get our heat back on that day, as well as assist us with the insurance claim and repairs.

Joe G was very helpful and explained my options for propane and oil. So far so good working with them.

AWFUL COMPANY SINCE NEW OWNERSHIP, NOT RECOMMENDEDPioneer oil WAS a great company when it was run and operated by the Brunell family.NOW, this new ownership is driving the company into the ground from greed and AWFUL management. I have heard many good people have left the company as a result...including long time customers like myself.They will charge you the upper limit of normal on ALL services and even overcharge if they can. Customer service and satisfaction is LOW priority.My example includes a hot water heater that was covered 100% other than outside parts and labor. They replaced it for me for over $1,000. That only included 15 ft of copper pipe, fittings and a mixer. They were at my house for 4 hours (2 men, one acted like an ignorant trainee).I knew I got screwed in the moment, but I needed hot water. I subsequently got quotes after the fact and the average to replace a warranteed water heater was $500-$600. I believe they were annoyed to travel outside Worcester with a new water heater they couldnt make money on so they charged me extra for it in parts and labor.SIX months later, this hot water heater is malfunctioning and the manager stated I would be charged for travel, parts and labor to fix it...6 months after brand new installation?!?!?They do NOT guarantee their work. This would never happen with the previous ownership. I have moved on to another oil company that I can trust, has better customer service and fair pricing.Bottom Line: Stay away from this company as their greed and lack of customer service and satisfaction will likely be its demise in the near future. AWFUL COMPANY

Matt from Pioneer Oil responded within a few hours to get my furnace going again. He is very knowledgeable and I would recommend Matt and Pioneer Oil for anyone locally with oil heat.

Matts been to our house twice for service issues. He always does a great job and explains fully whats going on.

Ba aware of these thieves. They will over charge you big time. Look at the photo how they install a thermostat. Pioneer Oil is a joke.

We recently had a new heating and AC system installed in our 1950s house. Its was expected to be a bear of a job will all the changes to the house over the years. After getting a few quotes, I still wasnt happy. I happened to see some Pioneer trucks and decided to check out the company. Paul came to meet with me and discuss the project. I explained I wasnt happy with the plans the other companies came up with. He agreed with them initally, but continued to listen to my requests for options. He went off to take some measurements and I heard him yell, I know how we can do this! He was true to his word. A few weeks later the crew arrived. They were happy to explain what they were doing every day. Id love to name them all but Im sure Id forget someone. We made a few modifications over the course of the installation, but we are thrilled with the finished system. 3 separate zones. I received multiple calls from the owner Dave to be sure his employees were polite and proffessional and if we were happy with the progress. Im happy to be a Pioneer Customer

Their customer service is excellent. They will always listen to you and work with you to make sure you are well taken care of. The only negative is the cost of oil and of course that is not their fault. Just wish it was less.

Awesome customer service. My boiler stopped working on a Sunday night, two days after moving into my new house. Pioneer had somebody at the house in under a half hour. The technician figured out the problems within minutes and had the heat working within an hour. The next day I called them again to have the boiler tuned up and have some shut off valves installed in the water lines (hot water heating). Two technicians arrived within an hour and completed the job very quickly. All of them were friendly and informative, and offered advice on possible upgrades without trying to push anything on me. On top of that the president of the company personally called me to thank me for doing business with them and inform me of the service and insurance plans they offer.

As a recent first time homebuyer, we have been using Pioneer Oil since we moved into our home in September of 2012. Not knowing much about the oil delivery or troubleshooting process, we started calling in oil orders and eventually had our first service call last winter. Within one hour of being without heat, a service man showed up to resolve our issue on a late Sunday evening. We recently had our boiler replaced (using the MassSave program) and between Dave answering all of my questions and the professionalism of all of the technicians at our house, we were more than thrilled with the service. The customer service is great and we are looking forward to continuing on as customers with our new boiler this winter!

We have been getting great service from Pioneer Oil for over 17 years ever since we bought our current house.

Ww recently had to have our hot water heater replaced. We called Joe Gemain who came out to take a look at what type of water heater would be the best for us. Pioneer oil sells both oil & propane. Joe suggested a Hybrid electric hot water heater which we selected. An installation date and time was set up for the work to be done. They arrived at the time we agreed on. The plumbers and the technician promptly got to work. I have to comment on their personalities. Excellent. They explained exactly what the process was to compete the change over. When finished they picked up all of the trash they had, explained how the new hot water heater worked, the optons we had, answered my questions, packed their gear and told me to call if have any questions and left. Managing a small business most of my life I know the difficulties involved in being succesful. Pioneer is a company that knows what the word service means and knows the dificulty being competative to keep their customer base. This is the type of company I want to and enjoy doing business with.R. Culross

Their bills are very confusing and not transparent at all. I paid each and every one on time and suddenly they sent me bill in June for some amount that was 120 days overdue.In the account printout that I have requested there were certain flags right away - for example, they charged me 2 different oil prices on the same day of fueling once and didnt bill be right amounts on time (thats why I had some overdue at the end).Closed account for good and hope not to deal with them ever again.

Tech was 35 minutes late and there was not a phone call telling me that he was delayed. When he arrived I asked him about any company policy about letting the customer know there would be a late arrival, he said he did not know of any such policy.

Had a couple of service items not all related to Matt. In regards to Matt, like all his team members provided excelent service and leaving the work area clean with the Burner (oil) ready to go. Can always count on Pioneer with quick (low downtime).Have had a couple of needs this last couple of mounths involving many members of the service organzation managed by Cade C.Had a water heater fail, caused by failure of city water preasure valve. The heater was 80 gals attached to the oil Burner. As always Pioneer is at the high end of technoligy and introduced to me Heat Pump Solution. State of the art. It is decoupled from the existing burner (no oil needed). It working terrific. Took a large effort in co-ordination as outside assist was needed for Pluming and Electrical work (fix original problem)Also a full inspection was needed of the H/AC for another purpose and Cade came out on a hot muggy day (attic) to verify all items met code .Needed a more formal document for the leagal requirements. He provided for meI have been with Pioneer for 17 plus years and they they keep geting better. I recomend them to all, from top to bottom all eager to help us the client. PIONEER is a KEEPER
