I was the MOH for my BFFs wedding. One of the things I was charged with was to create a playlist for her big night. It took me months to put together the most delicate, yet edgy and refined playlist to really bring together both sides of the union. ON the day of the event, while we were just getting to the reception venue, I realized there was no music. I looked around and realized there was no DJ. I called the mother-of-the-bride and she confirmed the DJ start time was on time. We had almost 120 people in a single room, with no freaking music. I was mortified. It was about :30 into the reception (bride was getting her 2nd glass of wine) and then he showed up. He was wearing a pair a black sweats (more of a heather gray rather from being owned for the past 15 years) and a white t-shirt. His hair was extremely greasy from the lack of a shower and he smelled terrible. I mean the epitome of what a DJ should look like as a semi-formal wedding of 150+ guests. I was pretty pissed at this point and demanded he put on something, anything, immediately. He informed me that he still had to set up. While he set up :30 mins late, I ended up using my cell phone and a borrowed blue tooth speaker for the fist :45 of the reception. When the music did start all the hard work I put into the playlist of identifying songs and artists when out the freaking window because he played the song I selected, but by an unknown artist! So instead of at last by Etta James, he played at last by a man singer covering Etta James song At Last and it wasnt just that song it was every, song he played. Covers of originals, song after song, after song. It ruined her wedding. She has cried about it many times since then. DO NOT USE THESE UNPROFESSIONAL DJS. TRUST ME! You dont want to jeopardize the most important day of your life, not to mention the most expensive party you will ever throw with a terrible entertainer. My BFF and I still talk about how pissed I was on what should have been such a wonderful celebration of her and her groom-to-be. It was awful! The entire experience. You dont realize how important the DJ is until you have the worse case scenario happen to your best friend. Do not let the worst case scenario happen to you! You have $ to spend dont give it to these who-has
