Amazing place if youre looking for fine antiques, architectural salvage, and original hardware to fit in your old home. The era thats most prevalent is about 1890 through the 1940s, everything from lighting to furnishings, doors, mantles, cornices, hinges, and door knobs. Just as valuable as the items for sale is the vast wealth of knowledge readily shared by the shopkeepers. Prices are a little on the high side, but this is a curated selection thats professionally restored, some of the best items in the region.

Materials Unlimited has the most awesome Antiques that I ever laid my eyes on! You could spend a whole day looking and still not see everything there! Its like going to Greenfield Village visiting our historical past. Great place to see and shop for really great Antiques... A great place for old items

A beautiful collection of antiques and eccentric finds. The prices are out of this world, but its still a great place to browse. Possibly even to think of some ideas of how youd like to decorate your home. They have stunning pieces of stained glass windows and doors displayed throughout the store that capture the light at different angles. For those on a budget, you might consider purchasing from the variety of antique looking doorknobs, or drawer pulls. For a diy-er like myself, the salvage room downstairs was of particular interest. There were quite a few bits and bobs that could be used for a project. Of particular interest were the wooden ballusters, which (if one is handy enough) I imagine could be used to fashion the legs of a table or stool.A gem in Ypsilanti, dont forget to explore all three floors!!

This is a great place to shop for antiques; the main floor is a lovely showroom with the other two floors containing more hardware/accessories. Each tag tells a wonderful story!

Cool place to look around but everything is crazy expensive

While the items in this antique store were way out of my price range, it was still a lot of fun to look at all of the beautiful things they have. It is mostly antiques for restoring old homes or adding antique touches to your house like old doors, bath tubs, and mirrors. They also have an extensive selection of fully restored antique lighting and hardware. If you have an old home you are restoring, want to add an antique touch to your house, or just want to browse, I would definitely recommend checking this store out. Also, the staff was very friendly.

Wow. They definitely are an antique restoration store, but the prices are high end. I guess it pays to be in the depot Town District of Ypsilanti, where you find people who will restore antiques and who have very Deep Pockets. it is impressive to go to see the store though, as they have antiques that have been restored by them and they are beautiful. But to hire them to do restoration for you, all I can say is, hopefully you have a revolving line on your mortgage.

If you are looking to restore an old house this place is a must for details.

This lovely shop isnt cheap, but it is run by crack professionals who really know their stuff and put their back into meeting your needs. They have a terrific collection of old chandaliers, decorative objects, doors, stained glass windows, and hardware and fixtures. It is perfect for the accent pieces that really personalize your home.

This place is definately a destination in Southeast Michigan. A huge store loaded with architectural gems. They have furnishings, lighting, and all kinds of antique decor that you will find nowhere else!

Be ready to have your eyes stretched opened wide! Materials Unlimited is truly amazing. This place is where dreams are made. Im a part-time picker and theyve bought from me.... Im proud to see history that Ive saved, repurposed here!....I just have a quick note to those complaining about how much they pay-out for a pick. The pawn principle is 20% of the expected return value... however, pickers can expect to pay UP TO 50% generally IF they have no overhead AND dont have clean/prep/restoration costs. Materials Unlimited restores, cleans, and storefronts everything purchased... PLEASE dont bring something in there and expect to get more than 20-50% of the return value... thats just unreasonable for a business like that to stay floating.If you want unrestored/uncleaned finds, please go to Grand Illusion Architectural Salvage in Grass Lake... BUT, if you want perfect or truly unusual pieces without digging for them, then please go to Materials Unlimited. BTW they also have parts and pieces... Ive found skeleton keys for locks, matching hinges, matching door knobs all for customer projects.

Excellent place if your looking for good antiques.

If I could give the customer service alone 5 stars I would since they are helpful in helping you try to find what your looking for but the prices on things in there are ridiculous I think. Some of the antique side tables I have seen exact ones at other antique shops half the cost or less than half. Their huge mark ups are terrible. If it wasnt for the nice people who work there I honestly would probably give one star but I was in looking for something small and didnt find it however they did look around to help and made suggestions.

This is an incredible place for antique hunters and vintage restorers. Materials Unlimited isnt a junk store that calls itself an antique shop; it has all manner of furniture, hardware, building material, doors, fixtures, etc. This place is three floors of awesome finds, the staff are friendly and helpful, and you just wont find anywhere else like it around.

Staff are so friendly and too extra time to help us find the unusual pins we needed for our old French storm doors. Plus, they have beautiful antiques!

Dont get me wrong, this place has gorgeous furniture, accessories, nic-nacs, etc; but unless you have quite a bit of $, then go with the thought in mind that its just a museum :). I am not under any illusions that antique items or rare items (especially ones that have been well maintained over decades), are worth far more than the kind of furniture people buy today that includes a non-verbal instructional manual to get it put together; however, part of what makes items such as these so beautiful, is to actually get to enjoy them by using them & displaying them in your home.

This place provided top shelf assistance with finding the piece Ive been looking for, which is a small, decorative canopy.
