Just love The Blue Dot. Delicious food, great staff, fun patrons, local artwork on display.
An easy and relaxing place to have breakfast or brunch. I love the choice of healthy offerings. Almost all versions of eggs come with a spinach and lower calorie option. The classics are also available. Great choices of coffee. Their cappuccinos are excellent.
A surprising find in the middle of a residential neighborhood. I avoided trying them for almost 2 years for no reason other than the lack of seating and how crazy it would potentially get if they got slammed.Boy, I wish I started coming earlier! Their food is delicious and they seem to have more seating by way of an auxiliary room to the side.Their baked goods on display at the counter were an exercise in resisting temptation. We tried their strata and the waffle with fruit. The waffle was nothing too exciting but my little one was thrilled at the amount of whipped cream, butter, and fruit it showed up with. My strata was an unbelievably light and fluffy affair with leeks and bread, and a wonderfully crisp top hat. The only downside to the meal was how their bacon showed up- little porky rosettes they were rolled up and baked so it was baked unevenly, the tops done. Overlooking that small infraction, and the tight seating, especially at the communal table next to where folks in line are, we enjoyed our brunch. Hopefully youll be as delighted as I was when you pay a visit. *bonus point for the employee wearing the DIJ shirt!*
Though theres a great selection of eggy brunch items as well as pastries, my to go favorite thing to order is the BLT. The sandwich is overflowing with crispy bacon. The potato salad is good but under seasoned. Order the BLT only if you like your bacon very crispy. Please keep local businesses like this healthy by giving them your support and patronage.
Cosy coffee shop with full menu and delicious cakes.
Great place to eat! But be ready to spend 18 to 20 dollars.
Good food + coffee + wonderful great service=The best hidden jem of the Bay!
So yummy!! Thank you for having vegetarian options!
This place is an Alameda gem. Everything is fresh and homemade. Dont miss the Tomato Basil Soup.
Friendly service and yummy food
This place is consistently so great. The staff are so awesome and the vibe of the establishment is so casual and chill. The food is phenomenal, my favorite is the poached eggs, bacon and toast. They have a coffee/tea bar so you can add sugar, Splenda or whatever they really have a selection which I appreciate. Wish there was a fairy free creamer option for the vegan/lactose people but other than that this place is a must and very easily became our fav brunch spot. Ps this weekend is Mother’s Day weekend and they were making the bacon in little flower shapes that is so creative and beautiful. Love the chefs here
Really good lattes and poached egg sandwiches. The bacon is extra good. Good setup for getting to-go orders. The whole family loves this spot
I bought coffee for quite some time, their coffee is not hot enough. They dont see everyone equal.
Great place. Great people. Good food.great service.
Food is always on point. However, being an open kitchen, I would like to see the preparers wear gloves when preparing the food. Seating area is a little small and you sometimes have to sit at a community table which is OK if you dont mind that kind of thing.
You cant beat this place for friendliness, reliability, and great coffee and breakfast food (best scones and decent bagels - as a former New Yorker I dont make that claim lightly!). It can get crowded on the weekends but thats a testament to their quality. Kind owners and conscientious staff make this one of my faves on the island.
Avocado toast was pretty good. Its the closest place with food available from Alameda Municipal Power.
I like this place, good options for breakfast and brunch. Their chai is great especially with oat milk! What I like: it’s spacious, enough plugs for anyone working long hours with their laptopWhat I don’t like: it’s a bit loud, and hot in the cafe, there’s also a weird BO smell in some areas of the cafe
Delicious food, homemade pastries, warm staff and great service.
Nice quite spot to chill and have breakfast. Really easy going environment. Really like is place.
Called them today and its a personal voicemail for Megan and its full. I thought this was a business that wanted business. Wanted to find out if they deliver or have call in/pick up service for an upcoming board of directors meeting in Alameda. Bummer, Guess well need to find another deli.
Nice selection of fresh foods including veggie options. Good coffee. Cute location. Fast service.
A delightfully quaint neighborhood cafe. I appreciate the interesting art work displayed on the colorfully painted walls. I also appreciate their creative combinations for breakfast faire, sandwiches and salads. Brunch offerings are my favorite.💖
Blue Dot Cafe is great for coffee and food. It can get busy during peak hours Ecspecially brunch time on the weekends. Its busy because its good and the staff are friendly and working hard.
Great place to grab some food and coffee! People are very friendly and the coffee is the best. A must try is the pouched egg with pepper jack and bacon.
I wont buy another croissant very hard and dry no freshness. They replaced it with gluten free muffin.
Very good food. Small Cafe with big menu. Very fresh and delicious offerings
The cashier should be a happier person! I Experience bad attitude from her. Not attentive it all. The food was good but definitely greasy. The place is nice for a breakfast-brunch or work in your computer.
Great open kitchen, pay-first style, café but with full breakfast menu. That menu gets as lean or as rich as you want. Nice, friendly, atmosphere. Loud but in a good way.
Their quinoa porridge is my favorite! Its drizzled with honey and topped with walnuts and sliced banana. Its a very large serving! My only complaint is that there is a woman who works there who appears to be in a bad mood all the time. Shes not really rude, shes just not very friendly. All the guys who work there are super friendly and nice!
Oh my goodness, this place is a must for breakfast if you are in Alameda. The food is so good and the relaxed environment will get you ready for the day.
Great food and even better portions! It has an awesome mom and pop vibe. I love coming here for brunch with friends who dont know the Alameda area. Always a crowd pleaser.
I love it, although I wish they had gluten free stuff. I also like it if they had things that were gluten-free with protein. I can only get one or two things there and even their eggs have gluten. For people that can eat gluten though, there are a lot of possibilities. Its a bit expensive but not too bad. Large portions.
Good food and Coffee. This is a really informal place and sort of a hang out and I will come back again for the food but it can be very noisy or very quiet: I suggest you bring earplugs. Free wifi works but its a bit slow. Its a really nice local place with different food then you might get elsewhere.I believe they have free coffee refills.
Popular cafe with home baked bakery breads and muffins. Wonderful breakfasts and lunch menu. A local favorite.
Pretty cool place with a good vibe and decent food. I had two poached eggs with chicken sausage and it was good.
A great breakfast! Creative! Place your order at the counter. Food gets delivered to your table. Grab your settings! Grab your coffee! Yum
Good for fresh baked cakes, but today a nice light breakfast. Somewhere which understands poached eggs.
People here are nice, chairs are comfy, service is good, and the coffee is tasty
The BBQ Brisket sandwich was pretty good, actually.
Poached eggs, crispy bacon, toast, fruit and a cup of coffee. This is how I like to start my day. The simple things in life make me feel good. Blue Dot you ROCK!
I love this place. Food is great! Amazing staff!
I had a bowl of oatmeal and fruit, and a side order of two scrambled eggs. Food was good. The cafe was very crowded, as it often is at the time I was there -- 9:30 to 10:30 am.
Very nice breakfast place. Unfortunately a bit victim of its success, staff are getting stress and tend to be over crowded on weekend brunch. A year ago I would have given 4 stars.
Just love this place...poached eggs great. Family style or separate tables...everything is always fresh and good!
Great coffee and sandwiches. Loved the cubano.
Its the little spot on the corner where everyone knows your game. Come, come in, be happy and be here
This is one of my favorite spots in Alameda. The coffee is top notch as well as their fresh bakery goods.
Amazing food and drinks that are simple but taste amazing, I always get their scones they are the best I have ever had.
My new favorite coffee shop in Alameda!Staff is super friendly, the pastries are delicious!Drinks are great and made fast.
Great coffee and really friendly staff. Sandwiches are very solid and the place has a fun vibe
Great scones. Got to get there early, its busy.
My favorite local place to hang out and catch a meal, meet up for coffee, or just read the paper while relaxing. Good folks, good food, good location. Nuff said.
Best ever avocado toast and salad. Fantastically fresh food!
Excellent breakfast and lunch, fresh food and a good variety. Good atmosphere, plenty of windows and sunlight.
I remember years ago, I asked if they made their corned beef hash from scratch. They didnt. Now they do. And there was much rejoicing.
Cute alameda cafe. Simple breakfast foods, like sausages and toast and eggs. Simple iced coffees. Simply sweet :).
Delish healthy foodie breakfast options. Friendly service. Yummy cappucino. Went mid-week: lots of laptop workers, solos and friend meetups.
Nice spot. Lots of space, very bright, lots of great food options, coffee and wifi. Will for sure go back.
Great breakfast place with healthy brunch options. Great coffee!
Gets crowded easily, but such great breakfast food. Toast and poached eggs... simple and delicious.
Good simple food, great coffee, and a cozy atmosphere. Also passable wifi.
Great breakfast place for families and pets! Some outdoor sitting available.
Very pricey, but smooth atmosphere, like the same Annies hang out at the cafe. If it wasnt for the price so high I would have given it one more star.
I love this place, we have been coming here for months .the food is good, people friendly, you can also try different drink...
Great coffee and ambiance. Mothers Day was a treat!
Great place for breakfast with a real local feeling. Blue Dot means the Earth : )
Breakfast menu excellent. Service fast and cappuccino excellent.
Great cafe with amazing food and good wifi (2-3 MBit)
Great local spot. Nothing fancy, but good food and good place to grab a quick bite.
Breakfast options favor sweet than savory -- waffles, baked goods vs eggs which are available only poached or part of a breakfast sandwich. Local artwork adorns the walls, free wifi, community atmosphere that is family friendly.
Super Scones & service. Love the Strata breakfast! Still doing great 3 years later, even through to the new normal.
Great coffee and food. Super friendly staff.
Eat breakfast here almost daily. Im hooked on the freshly made scones♡
Has the feel of a New England type of place very comfortable thank you
I have to stop here every time Im in Alameda. Food is amazing.
Meh. Inconsistent. Wife was pregnant and craving their oatmeal which can be good or horrible. Got home, no fixins and it was cold. Bummed pregnant wife. Emailed them about the inconsistency, no reply.Go for coffee.
Good cappuccino, serve bkf, clean, friendly staff, a bit crowded and I have been here b4, food pricey especially 4 a smaller cafe...btw, oddly, they serve beer, wine, & mimosas, somehow it all appears odd with 5 yr olds playing on the floor....
IMPORTANT: MUST READ IF YOU HAVE KIDS!!My 5.5 year old son was standing by the drink cooler in the front of the restaurant where you order food. He was calmly looking at what drink he wanted to get. One of the cooks who serves food walked out from the kitchen to where my son was standing and grabbed the back of his shirt by the collar and pulled it back. I saw this out of the corner of my eye and then he gave my son an intimidating look. This is not ok.I realized after seeing this cook that hes the same person who two weeks prior, I heard him tell a one year old who was clumsily walking around the restaurant and I guess he felt this baby was in his way, get back to your table baby.I called the restaurant afterwards and spoke with the manager. She was very understanding, said she would speak with him, document it, and that she had never had a problem with him doing something like this before.FYI - the man was caucasian, he has long brown hair that was pulled back into a low pony tail, he has a beard and mustache, tattoos on his arms, and was wearing a black beanie hat.
Simple, delicious food and friendly staff!
Full of life, so many people of all ages, good coffee and great spirit
Tried and true, Blue Dot is my favorite breakfast joint. Coffee, pastries and egg sandwiches are always bomb.
The Cubano sandwich: omg!! Great salads. Coffee is delish!
A nice local eatery with great sandwiches. When they are busy, the counter can be impatient and it shows.
Good food and great staff 👍
Great food and solid coffee
Great food, visiting family on Alameda and the breakfast did not disappoint!
Good coffee and food, although a bit crowded and busy to telecommute work.
The scones here are the best Ive had.
Great local spot for breakfast and lunch. Full service coffee bar as well.
Great place to hang out. Wifi can be unreliable, but is fast when it works.
Good tasty food. Kinda pricey for the amount you get.
