I absolutely love this shop. It has great antique and folk art. It has a day of the dead room, religious room and much more. No piece of art is the same. I found my own piece of wonderful jewelry. If you are ever in old town or visiting New Mexico you definitely need to stop by here. He does appointment only and quite a bit of his inventory is half off. Some of his day of the dead items was used in actual ceremonies. The owner is very kind and is very helpful. You will not be disappointed. If you are interested in contacting him I put a picture of his business card in the photos.

Visiting John Isaacs was a moving experience. He has collected such wonderful pieces of art and history, and he knows so much about them and cares about where they are going. I will treasure the items I bought there. I wish I lived nearer to the shop.

What a great place! I’m so glad I waited to buy my souvenirs until I found this place. John opened the store for us and gave us a personal tour and history of all the pieces. And, after a lot of comparison shopping, I am very confident that we got the good stuff at good prices. Thank you for allowing us in your wonderful store. We will cherish our purchases for years to come.

John is a treasure among his treasures. There is something for everyone in his antique and Folk Art shop (and yes, jewelry too) and I put this as a must see and shop if in Old Town in Albuquerque. He is very knowledgeable about all his items and has the experience to match.

True, Mr. Isaac scopes out his customers and only opens his shop to certain people. The sign says open by chance or appointment. True, this might slow down his business sales. After meeting Mr. Isaac and being allowed in his store, I think i understand his reasoning. From what I gather, he is an extremely intelligent man. He knows the history behind every single piece in his store. He either knows the Crafter of the piece or knows how the piece landed in his shop. I do believe he wants to know where each and every piece ends up. He wants to make sure they are in good hands and will be cared for. Could he make rash judgements about potential shoppers and deny admittance to a worthy customer? Sure. But when it comes down to it, it is his shop and he can do whatever he likes.I am not sure why he decided to open his shop to us, but I am glad he did. He has some amazing things. Prices of items range from a few dollars to thousands of dollars. If he does open the store to you, you will find a new possession. If you definitely want him to open the shop, I highly suggest calling and making an appointment.

John Isaac Antiques and Folk Art is fantastic. I had a wonderful time browsing some of the lovely antiques and folk art. I found a fabulous pig made of metal and painted black and white-it is a great piece for my garden and yet I adore it so much I cant seem to put it outside on my patio-I want to look at it all the time!John was very helpful to me and to a few other guests that were there. He has a incredile knowledge of masks I learned through his conversations with another purchaser and he was very patient as well as smart with several other clients. I only wish that he had pictures of his inventory on line so that I could buy more. I live too far away to visit his shop any other way. Thanks John!

Shockingly rude man. Store is only opened if he deems you are worthy of entering his store. Mightve bought something if allowed in. He chased us up the stairs and told us to look elsewhere.

I am from Los Angeles, and every time i cisit my dad in Albuqurque, John Isaacs store is the only place I want to go. Not only is he himself a treasure trove of information, his store has a wonderful eclectic collection of Mexican stuff and native Indian art like nowhere else that I have been.
