My son had to get his trumpet from the 50s fixed. It was missing two screws that go on the trigger that makes the trumpet be able to pitch bend (thats what he says it does) so I took it to the repair shop thats on-site. They had to make new screws for it and also make new internal threads on part of it. The guys did an amazing job. First class customer service and it was done in about 20 minutes. I would definitely recommend going to this store!!

Buyer beware!!!Festival rental instruments (rental upgrade) are tremendously marked up. They anticipate you are going to have equity for a trade in so they raise the purchase price so they make more money on the upgrade. It’s a classic move that has been used for years by auto dealers. We went to purchase/rent a clarinet invoiced at $1700 but we’re going to charged $2500. The manager kept telling us 3 times, in 3 different conversations, how she was doing something special for us by allowing us to rent an upgraded instrument AFTER paying off and purchasing our last rental. Well some deal! The professional model clarinet from the same maker was only $1900 and it’s a better clarinet. The second issue that made its appearance from this transaction is student rentals may be new or used instruments BUT the rental agreement price appears to be the same no matter if it’s new or used. In other words a person renting an instrument is making payments but is not told if it’s for a new instrument or used. That seems pretty underhanded and could be easily addressed by indicating to the customer if the instrument is used or new and let the price reflect the condition.Shop around. There are many other mom and pop music stores that don’t have these types of business practices. Just because Marshall’s develops a relationship with band instructors (similar to drug reps and physicians) doesn’t mean you must buy or rent from them. Look around and find a place that will treat you right and provide service as long as you are a customer.

Just about everything you need in music including lessons! If it is obscure sheet music, you still need to go to that place in Ann Arbor. Guitar Center has a wider selection of stringed instruments, but for everything else this is the place. It is an institution since 1948!

I bought my first guitar from there years ago but sadly they dont carry guitars like they used to... They do focus more on band instruments which they carry a nice verity of great place still to go if you enjoy playing instruments

Literally your one-stop shop! Rent/buy instruments for yourself or your children, extremely inexpensive and flexible rental rates, can rent-to-own or just rent month to month, cancel anytime! The latter is extremely convenient as many band students change their mind often. The option to exchange for a different instrument at any time is fantastic. Every instrument that you can think of plus instructional books, accessories and completely free repairs! Rentals are replaced at no charge for loss, theft or fire. Classes for each instrument are offered at affordable prices as well, and Marshall visits most schools for the entire duration of the school year so that parents dont even have find a store! I mean literally...this company thought of everything! Allen Park is my favorite! If you visit them, tell them Mia sent you 😉

Review №14

Good if you have to buy a reed or something small, just a quick in and out but if you have to buy an instrument I would go elsewhere. Their prices are very high on instruments, entry level instruments at that. Although they work with you and set up low monthly payments, you will be paying for an instrument that isnt worth the money you are paying for a long time. If you do set up a payment plan there are perks like maintenance you get at no cost while you are within your lease agreement but to me you are paying for that on the backend. As an example my son needed the Pearl percussion kit it was $538 brand new at Marshall, the exact same kit with the exact same model # was only $249 at Guitar Center.

Just wanted to give the repair shop a big THANK YOU! Took my tuba to the repair shop thinking I would drop it off for repairs. Instead the fine people/ person repaired it while I waited and refused to take any money for the repair!! This wasnt the first time I took my horns here for repair and certainly wont be the last! Thanks again. Mark

Seriously the best music store in the downriver area. Especially for band and orchestra. The guitar and drum department is a little lacking in inventory, but what they lack in that regard they make up for in knowledge and helpfulness. If youre making an investment in a guitar, allow them to help you out and wait for the order. It will be worth it.

Experienced and friendly staff. This is my first time going in to Marshall. I went with a friend to check on rental instruments. They were very professional and helpful. I felt comfortable asking questions. Being someone who doesnt know a thing about musical instruments, I had a lot of questions. They did nothing to make me feel uncomfortable or foolish for asking. I would highly recommend their business for your music needs.

Marshall Music in Allen Park on the corner of Allen Road and Southfield has changed guitar center on Outer Drive his reduce their business which is a shame I like both of the places I still go to Marshalls because there is a service there is that I need but they are very fine establishment if you need something for the local schools go there every child should learn to play an instrument they will never regret it well thats what Marshalls here in Allen Park is catering to now not a bad thing very good thing its not very good but big business and franchises try to put everyone else out of business I like family-owned stores always did never work for a union though theyre not bad I think its a good thing but sometimes they go too far dont put small businesses out of business for instance sometimes when you go to a small family restaurant family-owned things taste a lot better then just a formula on a cheeseburger or a good steak I think you should all know that by now

I have been taking guitar lessons here for almost a year. My teacher has been great and I have progressed a lot. They have some really weird scheduling where the entire building is shut down on holiday weeks though, its really odd as I have showed up once or twice not realizing they were not open. I think that has been my only negative experience.Their selection is pretty small but they can order anything you need. Its fun to walk in sometimes and there will be a couple people just jamming together in a corner. They do have a ton of sheet music though which is nice.

The minute you walk (Allen Park) someone is there to help you with the friendliest service around. If you bought an instrument through them, it makes sense to buy replacement parts for it there bc they keep a record of what parts either you have bought or need.Their prices are no more expensive than the retailer down the street or anywhere else.Marshall Music not only stick by their instruments, they stick by their customers!

Brought my Epiphone Thunderbird Bass there for a set up. No problems with it at all just needed a basic set up. Get it back from NIKO and the E string tuning key was loose, buzzing. The truss rod is conpletely stripped and the neck is bowed. I have multiple witnessed that know my bass was not like this when i brought it there. Now I have a BIG problem. My band is leaving for Europe Wednesday.. and I need my bass fixed ASAP. Im going to make a visit to Marshall before I leave.. this is a serious situation and I cannot explain the anger and hatred I feel right now.

I gotta pulled out my Son to his Guitar class with frustrations .. after they left my son alone by himself waiting at their lobby not giving him a lesson at 7pm due to non payment of tuition.. i was texted earlier by that day by his teacher that he had a class resume yesterday so i asked texted him back if that covers the 2 lessons he missed on december because they had a long holiday vacation that their company needed to shut down for 3 weeks. I got no reply so i drop my son by 7 pm and left cause I ws painting the new babys room at home. My son was asked by his teacher SAM if he brings the money in which we are not well informed about their policy on DECEMBER LONG HOLIDAY so i was assuming it was covered since i paid the DECEMBER and he only took 2 classes that supposed 2b 2classes. I was told later that they ELAINE had left a vm on my cp .. They asked my son to go out and see if im still at the parking lot so when he comes back no one was there at the lobby for 45minutes. I came back and my son told me he did not given a class because they said it was not covered by their 2 missed class last December. $80 a month and i always paid my dues &dumped my kid for the simple misunderstanding of their HOLIDAY LONG 3WEEK VACATION. Why not send me txt since u asked to bring my son for his class was resume. U asked me 4some money not soG8t not giving him a lesson and left him alone. at least u cud checked or txt me .. coz my vm is full and PLZ let ur COMPANY explain to parents and students about that LONG HOLIDAY SHUT DOWN
