First time visiting and it was amazing! Great service, great food, and atmosphere. The French toast had lots of flavor. My scrabble cheese eggs, not sure what they did but those were the best Ive tasted lol. Oh they forgot I ordered the seafood dip, but it was ok I didnt even bring it up because I was too full. The waiter was really nice too.
Service is poor. Food is... meh. Vibe is great. We’ve had to wait a long time for the waitress to come around and help us, and it took a long time for her to get us what we need. There’s a random chapter where another server came to our table to take our order but the order was never placed. Our food was already cold before the beverage is served.Hostess looked unpleasant when we requested to change seat.Eggs Benedict: muffin was over toasted (more like burnt). Potatoes were salted unevenly. Ketchup tastes cheap - felt like eating at McDonald’s.The vibe is 10/10. Interior design and theme takes me back to my days in Europe. I just hope that their service and food actually match up.
This is our third Intermezzo experience. Weve been to downtown and to Dunwoody. Havent had a bad experience yet. My order was the seafood crepe with a Turkish coffee. Always an enjoyable time. The Avalon location is tiny and quaint. Early morning is the best time to go. Right at opening. It will fill up fast. But, Avalon has a lot of shops. So if youre on the mood for exploring, youll have a good time regardless. And if anyone knows how to make Turkish coffee at home with out having a gas stove or anything, let me know 😁 thanks!
Great food, fabulous service, unique atmosphere and delicious coffees make this one of the must visit cafes in the area. We had the two egg breakfast and the Belgium waffles for brunch. The food was great and very tasty! Enjoyed the unique Cioccoloccino Bianco coffee as well. Definitely a recommended place to check out in the Avalon
We went for dessert. They have a nice selection of cakes. We ended up getting it to go since there is a lot of public seating in Avlon to relax and have food. Had heard a lot of good things about the desserts at this place - it was great but not extra special as I expected it to be but certainly wasnt disappointed.
Update 10/20/2021: In the interval I have been back to the Midtown location and I was incorrect, cheesecake slices are the same at both locations. My error.Original Comment: My second time at this location. The Cafe Intermezzo cheesecake is great! However this particular location, I have had long wait times for simple to-go cheesecake orders, lacking customer service and the cheesecakes are 1/2 to 2/3rds the size of the Midtown location at the same price of $10 per slice.
We went to Cafe Intermezzo at Avalon just for coffee and cake and really enjoyed our short experience! We sat in an area that was covered but partially exposed to the outdoors with big open gaps in the glass wall that made us feel safer than indoor dining. There were also heaters in these gaps that kept us nice and warm when it was a little chilly outside. We got a large classic latte ($7.50) and a slice of carrot torte ($9.50). While it was an expensive dessert, the torte was delicious and paired wonderfully with the latte. We will definitely return when we want to treat ourselves to dessert in a classy environment!
Delicious food and great service by Valy, who answered all of our questions and was very knowledgeable about what the cafe provided. And we were big fans of the all day breakfast being served.Management needs to pay their workers more, as we were told there would be a lengthy wait because of the lack of staff.
Once again...Ordered pickup. Love the euro vibe and variety. But no real service, rough experience Waited in line to go in.. Told to go in finally to the cake case.. Noone greeted me at the counter for almost 10 min. Order was supposed to be ready. It was not. The order was eventually bagged and presented after several other customers and I called a manager. $10.50 warm hummus was really cold, like fresh out of the fridge and $10 cake was thrown in and a mess. It was not busy. I do not understand 😕 😒. Bad experience.
They can only serve 6 people at a table. So our party of 7 had to go elsewhere. We went to the Koda Grill and it was fabulous.
Get the Cubano latte. Its one of the best coffee drinks and so simple but delicious to make. Ive been going there for years and this location is perfect for a walk, to cuddle with your loved one(s) outside or just meet with a friend or coworker. I definitely prefer the Avalon Cafe to the one by Perimeter Mall.
Very small, so wait time can climb fast. The food is amazing, and a decent portion size. I will definitely come back for dessert and drinks.
Café intermezzo is the perfect blend of sophisticated ambiance, delicious food, and a top notch drink menú. The space inside is a little small so don’t come here with more than 3 or 4 people. But definitely bring your significant other for a romantic evening. There is delectable classic music playing, lovely decor, great attention from the staff, and best of all amazing food.Pictured here are their lovely crepes, I got the chicken creme and my lady got the seafood crepe. Both were fantastic and we are going to return often to enjoy these.Their drink menu is extensive, especially their coffees. If you’re a coffee lover, skip Starbucks and come here on a Saturday morning.
Great customer service, in particular María. Cozy place with great coffee.
I came in late on a Saturday night for some drinks with a friend and we were treated to an absolutely wonderful time. Our bartenders Letty and Serena crafted some exceptional cocktails, especially the Sazerac. I will certainly be back to try the rest of the menu!
Excellent food (which was delicious btw! 😉)Karen, the nicest server youll meet 👌🏼😎, was very kind and friendly to us. We totally recommend this spot even during these covid-19 times, Café Intermezzo is taking all precautions and measures to handle their business in the most professional and conscious manner 👏🏼👏🏼
Walked in and stood at the front waiting to be acknowledged for about 10 minutes. I’m not sure why no one, not even the waiters passing by could inform us why there was no one to seat us or at least tell us if there was a wait. I also don’t get why they won’t take reservations or pick up their phones- this is the 3rd time I’ve come here only to end up being told there’s a 1.5 hour wait or to be ignored completely. The atmosphere is romantic and unique- but the service is nonexistent.
I had my first date with my girlfriend here, it was great. I wanted to have our anniversary here to replicate our first date, unfortunately they won’t do reservations for any event. Nonetheless I tried to make it work. We were seated for dinner and after 15 minutes, we still had not even been greeted by a server, let alone had any water. After having to request service, our server finally showed up and did apologize for the long wait and even offered dessert on the house. The overall dining experience was awkward and tense. When we received the check, I was charged in full for the “on the house” dessert. Between the absentee service and less than ideal atmosphere, the only thing on my mind was leaving as soon as possible. The food was good as per usual, but I can’t recommend dining in
Dessert overpriced for what you receive. Otherwise okay place for coffee and dessert 🍨.
I absolutely love this place! Great service and awesome food. Great for an occasion
Got to the cafe and told there was a 20-30 min wait, so we waited. 30 mins later we were told it would be another 30 mins.Sorry… the coffee here isn’t that good. Heading to the coffee shop next door where they appreciate customers and provide good service.
I was there yesterday and not sure why I even wasted my time. For starters, they put whip cream on cappuccinos which is ironic since they tout themselves as a European cafe. I have been to Italy, France, Spain, not to mention Ethiopia and Indonesia (if you don’t understand why I added those 2 for reference, not my problem) and in none of these counties was I ever served a “cappuccino” with whipped cream.I ordered what was supposed to be a regular cappuccino and there wasn’t any foam. I wish they would just remove cappuccinos from their menu and stick to desserts.
The spicy tortellini (add chicken!) is AMAZING! Cute atmosphere inside and outside. Will definitely return.
I am still shocked after visiting this place today. I went there with my friend and her little child. There were no seats available at the patio, so we decided to buy and sit ourselves in front of the main entrance, where they do not have service but still have tables. So I got for us two cups coffee/latte and a cheese cake, paid 19$ and left $3 tip to the bartender. I went out and my friend asked me to get her water. I went back inside and asked for a cup of water- the bartender refused to give me water, he said we have no cups, he suggested I go and find water fountain in the area to get myself water. I went out to get my wallet and try again with money, however I decided to ask the Manager why they dont give me water in a plastic or glass cup...her answer was- they dont have enough cups to give me water. At the end of the story she found not one but two cups and we had water in this hot day.My point is what a shame for such a nice place to not serve water to the customer because they dont have enough cups.I have never had such experience in Georgia or anywhere in the world I visited so far. Shame on you Intermezzo!
The food was great! We had a great experience with Valy, her service was fast and she was so attentive to our table!
The waffles with banana pudding and mango coconut toppings will definately keep me coming back..and the service was awesome.
Old Rome feel..Fantastic ambiance great coffee and hot chocolate.
NOT DOG FRIENDLYFood was amazing and even the cheesecake too (which I never like)EDIT: they lie about being dog friendly 😂. I brought my own dog bowl from my car because they don’t even have a simple offering. DO NOT BRING DOGS HERE. 10000000% NOT dog friendly.
Just a cool place to hang out in the patio, have a cocktail and people watch!
Great place to hangout in the Alpharetta area. The Avalon offers a lot of shopping option and the Intermezzo is an excellent place to take a break and chill. However the place is relatively small with waiting times exceeding an hour on weekends. Parking is also a challenge.Go there and enjoy, but plan ahead
Two experiences that did not meet Intermezzo standards: the first time we attempted to dine at this location we were told they only accept debit cards. We went back and grabbed one from the car in 5 minutes and then we’re told they are no longer accepting customers to order from the kitchen. Why couldn’t we have been told that before?Second experience: waited for an hour to be seated- there were multiple dirty tables that weren’t being cleaned where customers could’ve sat. That’s still okay. However, the chef accidentally dropped several pasta pieces when cooking my entree. The item ordered was far from the normal serving size. This was disappointing.Cafe Intermezzo is a personal favorite for our family. So we will dine at the restaurant again but just not this location anymore.
Wonderful intimate experience. We thoroughly enjoyed our carrot torte we ordered, and we ordered the peppermint herbal tea.Our service was prompt and they kept checking on us. John was wonderful - he really took very good care of us and was there throughout. What a great addition to the shops and restaurants here at the Avalon.
Always a great experience. Dope ambiance and always a great vibe!!
Our waiterrr was a queeen love her (valy) 10/10 recommend
Nice little cozy place. I will definitely go back.
Visited with a few friends for a cup of coffee and tasty food. Does not disappoint, I would highly recommend this place for brunch or for some occasional get to get her with friends. The atmosphere is usually warm and cozy, and the staffs and services are super great. I got one of their chocolate alcoholic drinks with a mint taste to it and it was the best decision ever. The crepe we got tasted very good as well.
This is a WOW little place to go! This was my first time and I recommend this place! Sean was our waiter and he was very nice and helpful. I asked what cold coffee with liquor he recommended and he offered me the Cafe Dolce Vita on Ice which I LOVED! My wife got a slice of cake and I got their waffle with strawberries and ice cream. This is the BEST waffle I’ve ever ate.Price is not bad. We spent like $50 plus tip on coffee and dessert only but it was worth it because of the experience.
I was between 3 & 4 stars but rating as a parent going with a group. I think going as a couple or with adults would have been different so I’m keeping in mind what this restaurant wants to project versus what we brought ‘to the table’ persay. We waited for the whole group (10 including 3 kids) but glad to have a cool outdoor space for kids to run. The restaurant was chosen by a couple who lives in Avalon with their baby... but I don’t think it’s made for large groups as they probably want intimacy in this type of cafe. We were squeezed in back around two circular tables. I am glad they had a kids menu and crayons. I appreciated two sides to their entree including fruit choices. We tried to keep it down but I could tell between talking across table and a preschooler we were bothering other tables by their glances to us (sorry patrons!)Great coffee menu ! The server was friendly and helpful. I went with the ham and cheese crepe. It wasn’t the best crepe I’ve ever had and a bit on heavy side with cheese and sauce. I wouldn’t get that again.Based on how they tried to accommodate us, I’ll give 4 stars based on coffee and service. 3 stars for food. Don’t recommend for groups or small kids!
Wow. We had our waitress from another dining establishment recommend this place for dessert and it did not disappoint. The signature Cappuccino was perfect, and the Crepe was delicious. I will absolutely be back.
Great food and atmosphere! Disappointed that couldnt sit 7 people together. Service was good, however definitely slow 🐌 !!!!
So I called ahead of time and asked to reserve a table because we are a big group but they told us that they are unable to reserve for us. When we showed up they said at least half the group has to be here before they can even put us on the list. We had to wait 45 min for a table… unbelievable!
Food/service was good; inside is a bit small/limited but no one seemed to care. The atmosphere was good
Omg, we love this location we have not had one bad experience!! Staff is always super friendly. Food is served hot!!! Joy the General Manger Amazing leader ship. It’s shows high five for this location.
After sitting out and waiting for 35 minutes (it was 8:52 pm) for our table they called me to let me know that the kitchen close at 9 but we can still get a table and order beverages.Unacceptable you could let me know when i gave you my name and number and i wont have to wait 35 minutes
Always a enjoyable experience trying out new cakes. I had the cannoli cheesecake which had a bite size cannoli on top. It was lite and could have been a bit more favorable, however was good.
The food quality has gone down over the years. Keep it fresh and worth the price you charge please
The deserts are great and the selection of coffee is endless. Its and enjoyable place to grab coffee and desert after a visit to a local restaurant. They do offer more substantial food here but I have never had any. My only issues with this place are that its a bit cramped and the staff seems to hit or miss depending on the night. I would highly recommend this place for a slice of their cake and an Irish coffee!
I came to the bar for dessert after being disappointed by another restaurant. The service was excellent! I can’t remember the bartenders name but he was very kind and attentive. And the desserts & drinks always hit the spot. I personally recommend the peanut butter cup cheesecake. I’ll definitely keep returning!
I come here often with my wife and I was extremely disappointed I sat for 10 min plus without even being offered as much as water. Had the wait staff pass me by countless times with a sign stating I needed service. The only time anyone had anything to say was when I got up and walked out. I would understand if there were busy but this is at 3pm plenty of free seats and staff standing around. Made eye contact but not so much as a glass of water.Very disappointed and disrespected.
The waffles that I had were extremely dry for waffles. My girlfriend found eggshells in her eggs Benedict. Despite this, the coffee drinks were very good. Overall, I was unimpressed though.
Not a place to go for dinner. This cute little bistro might be nice for coffee, drinks and dessert but the should pull dinners off their menus. Their tables and chairs are incredibly tiny and not particularly comfortable to sit in. The waitstaff is incompetent. The waitress never told us her name, when asked if their were any specials she said “I don’t know. I don’t think so” and never asked anyone. The drink menu specifically says there is a soup of the day and martini of the month. I may have been interested in one of those if given that information.I ordered the dinner sized mussels and received 20 mussels, 3 of which were not opened which meant I could not eat them. I almost thought it was the appetizer portion, it wasn’t. It was topped with what could only be described as a can of crushed tomatoes. It was completely bland and lacked any kind of broth. It was served with a few pieces of stale baguette. The crab crepe that my companion ordered was incredibly heavy and lacked any flavor except cream. It left a greasy taste in my mouth when I had a bite. He offered me more but It was so rich I couldn’t eat another bite. They asked if we wanted desserts but all I wanted to do was leave. I was going to give them 1 star but I can imagine this place might be nice after a movie for coffee and desserts. It’s just not nice for dinner
Food is good but not outstanding. A little slow from the bartender and kitchen. Server was attentive and pleasant.
Had the Shrimp and Crab crepe.Very creamy sauce and we could not find any shrimp in the crepe. The crab meat was very sparce too. This item needs to be on the appetizer side... Not as a Main Course.Dessert was deliciousNice atmosphere
I love their desserts ❤️ and peppermint tea 😊
Nice Venue, European feel. Good Breakfast and Coffee place for couples.
Every time we dine here .. we have wonderful experience .
Used to come here all the time (the one in ashford dunwoody) havent been in awhile so came in today and got the frutti Bosco and an Americano with 4 shots. They charged me for 2 coffees ($8) to add 2 shots....then the fruitti Bosco was just mushy. Terrible all around. Wont be back
This place was amazing and the service was excellent Maria did an excellent job
Nice area and nice atmosphere. The service is a bit slow, but they seem understaffed.
I work in the area and come here almost everyday. I tried a new tea that I had a few sips of, returned it for what I normally get since I didn’t like this one too much. The chef passive aggressively said, “Are we just giving out free tea’s now?” As I was sitting directly across from him while he wasn’t looking at me. (There’s a word I’d prefer to use for that) After that, they decided to charge me for a new one.
We were waiting for one our after that we went to asked them for our table they said we didn’t serve outside table??? So you can just tell us !! Dose not make sense to leave us waiting for nothing
I just remember when Intermezzo was a place you could go for great food and a great atmosphere. The atmosphere is still great. The food- not so much. I ordered Salmon and pasta and it was terribly disappointing. Felt like I was having an Applebees meal.Everything is full of cheese which in my opinion is an effort to cover over a mediocre menu. The staff is nice here though so you will be treated well. Go for the cheesecake and the ambiance, not the food and you wont be disappointed like I was.
I went to this place 3 weeks ago and it was nice to have a coffee and a sandwich, the place has a beautiful vibe, decoration but most of all the music is my favorite part... so i took my dad and my son last Saturday afternoon for a nice snack again, as soon as we arrived the placed looked busy but it was a table available and we were seated right away inside just in front of the cakes .we waited 15 Minutes for someone to come and ask if we wanted something even with the card on the green side and we were totally ignored by the servers and the hostess .the servers were on a corner and even if I put my hand up couple of times they decided not to look my way., after 15 min we left thru the back door someplace else we didnt feel unappreciated or that my money has value.i can say that from the last time i went there the cappuccinos were good and the bruschettas are a little small and missing a little bit of flavor but they are not bad also the chicken and mushroom sandwich is good .
Great like always high quality of good and service. This place have a sentimental meaning for me! I always come here to celebrate :)
Great food and great atmosphere (as well as staff). It’s pricey but worth it for a trip every now and then
The Lady Karen with the crazy blond hair is the sweetest and the most adorable there !!!!!!
We saw many vacant tables outside and had no idea that we would have to wait to be seated so we sat down at one of the tables. Immediately someone from the staff ran there saying we have to leave as those tables are for people on the waitlist. She was very rude and didn’t say where we should be waiting. Eventually we went into the cafe where a lady said we would have to wait about 30-40 minutes to get seated—although there were MANY empty tables outside. We were basically turned away even though they would have had the capacity to offer us a table. I’m not waiting for at least half an hour to be able to get a coffee especially when many tables are vacant. Rude staff—we’re not going back.
Good food, great coffee and good service
The food is always great not to mention the desserts and coffee, but the tables at this location are little round nothings, so dont go if you have more then two in your party .....its VERY HARD to have more then two plates of anything on your table along with drinks . The service is top notch as well .
Best waffles and coffee in town!! And nice service as well..
