Very helpful staff. Will definitely buy from them again

Having grown up in Alaska, I am used to abysmal customer service but this shop is next level. The staff seem to go out of their way to be unhelpful and are borderline angry at having to actually answer questions. Obviously, like many similar niche Alaskan businesses, they take it for granted they can treat customers in this manner because many will shop there anyway out of desperation due to limited local options. Wanting to naturally support the local economy, I went in to the shop with the intention of spending a signifiant amount of money but instead left irritated and promptly placed an order for the same products online. With free shipping even! Experiences like this make me feel increasingly less guilty about not giving my money to local shops. One star as a no star option is unavailable.

Staff is very knowledgeable and gave some good tips on lakes in the area. Rental fees are affordable and I believe they have product offerings that cannot be found elsewhere in the Anchorage area.

I brought my zodiac to get a patch job here few years ago I waited and waited then month past so I decided to go there and see what’s going on, I was surprised they didn’t do nothing to my zodiac at all the guy there told me I should throw my zodiac to there dumpster and buy a new one from them. I almost lost it I was a about to say something to that guy but but I kept my self calm, so I just left and went to a different store and bought some patch kit for my boat and fix my boat myself.

Bough a 4oz can of Stabond adhesive, they charged me $54.95. It retails for $29 everywhere else, talk about price gouging. I should have checked prices before purchasing. That’s the last time I go to this place.

Rob is the man, anything you need raft related in Alaska go see these guys. Very professional, took time to go over our rental, reviewed the equipment with us and help do a double check on everything.

Very nice organized shop. I was just looking and the staff let me. Would have like to see more prices in some of the merchandise but I am sure if I had asked they would got for me.

I’ve had good experiences in the past but customer service was lacking today. Called to buy a kayak paddle, told what I needed, seemed uninterested in helping if I couldn’t come in, told him I live 200 miles away, no help. AMH was helpful and will mail my paddle to me. 👍 6/18/20 16:40

Just got off the phone with Rob. He was super nice and got me setup with a custom patch for a giant hole in my boat. I wanted to pay him to get it to me ASAP since we use the skiff for work. Ive been to the kayak site shop they repair boats and they have all kinds of different knowledges and education is about rivers lakes and even the area where I had actually did my kayaking with the golden kayak so I would recommend them if you were looking for or repairs for an actual kayak boat blow ups that kind of thing so I could then five stars

Amazingly friendly and helpful. I actually came by when they were closed without realizing it, but they noticed me parking and offered to help me out regardless. Great selection and good prices. Cannot recommend enough.

We did a rental from Alaska Raft and Kayak and the service was top notch. The gear for the rental was great too- they provided everything we needed! We will be back!

I ordered some synthetic logs for a Woodland Power Stove form A.R.&K. Their online catalog showed them as being in stock. At no time during the online transaction was I told they werent in stock. They didnt arrive after 15 days. There was no communication from them regarding stock, credit, etc. I finally send an e-mail asking about my order and get a credit memo (I think) back from them with an adjustment fee taken out of my credit for $1.80. The credit hasnt shown up in my Paypal account and why the hell should I pay $1.80 for an adjustment fee, whatever that is? This could be considered a scam but I am holding out that it is just some bumpkins that are typical country folk mis-managers. I dont recommend these folks based on my experience. If you are going to have a web presence have a little expertise and some awareness of customer service and potential feedback both positive and negative.
