Commissaries are great for cost. The savings is significant. Staff is generally pleasant. Fellow shoppers are respectful and courteous.Quality of produce is very poor. I am not surprised when I find an onion, bell pepper, or other item is rotten when I cut into it.Additionally, commissary baggers for work tips only. I find it quite annoying that I need to remember cash before I go grocery shopping. I dont mind paying. I dislike needing to have cash.Ive attached pictures of produce I bought. I took these pictures two hours after getting back from the commissary.

I have only wonderful things to say about this commissary! The people are always friendly and helpful. They will look in back for toilet paper and such during the pandemic. I love this commissary

Be careful. My last comment was removed from a year ago. I was treated like a second class citizen by an employee there till they saw my husband was Caucasian, then suddenly he was spoken to politely. When I complained to management, they admitted it was wrong how I was treated but didn’t want their employee to get in trouble. This was a year ago and I have not been back since then.

Small commissary compared to others that serve larger communities like Ft Meade. Pros: Good deals on staples and non perishables as well as frozen foods. They have a Freedoms Choice brand that offers something like off brand slightly lower pricing than the name brands the commissary has historically offered as sole options. Cons: Perishables like produce and meats tend to be a roll of the dice for freshness but careful selection can mitigate that. Number one issue is lack of enforced COVID guidance. Yes you have to wear a mask but patrons seem to largely disregard distancing if not COMPLETELY ignore it altogether. I will only shop there now during the absolute lowest traffic times. Local grocers have one way isles and other measures in place but the commissary does not.

3.5 stars. A smaller commissary compared to most, with a modest selection that is frequently out of the more popular items on the weekends. Annoyingly, closed on the traditional Mondays, where many commissaries now remain open 7 days per week. There is a deli counter, but no bakery counter. There is oddly a sushi counter, which I rarely see anyone at on Saturday or Sunday when I go. They moved from a smaller building across the street, but somehow managed to have fewer aisles and a smaller selection. The freezer section is larger though. Staff is friendly. Prices are good. Watch for expired food, something Ive encountered a few times. Parking is good on the weekend, but space is limited on the weekdays because the new clinic shares the parking lot. The deli has Boars Head meats. Recently the self check lanes were reduced in number because of a problem with the scales.

Although a small commissary, the Annapolis facility is well-stocked with all the everyday items, dairy products, meats, cleaning supplies, specialty goods, produce, and dry goods you could ever want. This commissary is clean and well-kept. Having been a public liability claims adjuster many years ago for my first job out of college, I tend to look carefully at everything in a grocery store. The cashiers, the employees who stock the merchandise and the folks who verify IDs are very professional and helpful.I am very grateful the we have this Commissary here in Annapolis.

This commissary is the most mismanaged commissary ever. The produce is not fresh. I have to ask constantly if there is fresher stuff in the back. When I look at packaged tomatoes, half the time they are rotten on the bottom. The worker then goes and retrieves fresher stuff. The shelves are not stocked well. Half the time the shelves for the most common items are not present. The dairy case is not well monitored for expiration dates. Milk is very often stocked beyond expiration date. Sad state for a wonderful base.

Newer commissary, small but better than nothing. Store appeared to be well kept, didnt get a good look at the produce or meats while there. Commissaries used to have different items depending on location but that has changed in the last 10 or so years. They all mirror each other with the same stock. The only commissary I have seen with some unique items is Forest Glenn in the MD area.

This commissary is like a best kept secret! Although only authorized people can access it via military benefits, its EXTREMELY clean and the staff feels like family. Spacious aisles to avoid bumping with carts and great lighting. I didnt see the produce, but I could smell the strawberries from where I was!

This is a small store. They are understaffed due to budget cuts. While there are many empty areas on the shelves, it’s not all the staff’s fault. They have a contracting company (Pride) who are supposed to stock a lot of the items. They can only stock what is shipped. The warehouse sends out what they can when they get it in. Do not blame management or the store workers! They can only do what they can do.The meat department has a new manager and they are clean and well stocked. Although they leave a little too much fat cap on some of the meat cuts. The produce department is going through a transition and will get it together soon. They are all still figuring it out. If you ask, they will get produce out of the back if you don’t like what you see. There are awesome store workers who will stop whatever they are doing to go find a product for you even if they aren’t working in that area. They have assigned areas and it’s not their job to stock out the milk or frozen if they are working in produce or doing their after their working hours vendor stocking. The cashiers can be a little slow at times and the front end supervisor needs to learn to open more registers when they have a line, even if they have to jump on to clear the line.It irritates me when I see people complaining about a store that is a privilege to shop at. Not everyone can shop there as you have to be part of the military community and be a valid ID card holder. Be happy we have it. It is appropriated funds and Congress can take it away if and when the budget calls for it. Keep it in mind that you can also have your individual access revoked if you show cause. I have been allowed to shop at the commissary and NEX/PX/AAFES system for over 40 years. Never take it for granted and cut them a little slack. Especially now when you have people who are clearing out the shelves because of the current crisis. Don’t blame the workers/Management. Blame the hoarders who only think about themselves.

Remember Tom Peters bestseller In Search of Excellence, in which he profiled companies that excelled in customer service while increasing their bottom line? I recalled this business Bible last week when I returned home from the Annapolis Naval Commissary and couldnt locate a grocery bag. I phoned the store, was given Customer Service and a patient woman asked which check-out I used and who put the groceries in the car. She checked with the employees; no luck. She then gingerly suggested that I search my car one more time, although I had insisted I had covered every inch. Please come back and well take care of you, she concluded, as warmly as if she were inviting me to Thanksgiving dinner. You know the rest: Of course, the missing bag was in the CRV, in full view. The point is: Great customer service. No accusations. No apologies needed or given (shes likely heard this story before). But a quick offering to take care of me, left as good a taste in my mouth as all the treats in their gourmet bakery and other super selections. Way to go Navy Commissary.

Overall good store with lots of deals and a good variety. Their reduced meat section always has a lot available. Only negative is that I wish there were more USDA Organic meat options or that they were easier to find. Could only find a small chicken selection and ground beef.

Clean and well-kept, but the inventory is low and there isnt a great selection of anything. Produce is relatively fresh, but if you need fresh herbs you should go somewhere else. Small selections on things like salad dressings, pasta, and soups.

I used to love to go to the commissary at the Navy but lately produces disgusting half the time they dont have what you need when they first opened up the store it was fabulous now they look at you like youre doing them a favor to come in it said the Delta store for the people to come in and out but its gotten worse in the last year or so its always nice to see the lady at the front door that you check in she is always so pleasant I very rarely go to Navy Commissary anymore I do most of my shopping at Fort Meade

Its nice for a Commissary. A nice improvement over the old one... The selection is also better than the old one, and the layout is better over all. I wish their hours were a little longer, but really, it seems pretty slow in the evenings, so I understand why they close earlier than say the nearby Ft. Meade commissary. Because it is smaller than a lot of commissaries Ive visited, I have to comment on the selection... they have almost everything youd expect in most general purpose grocery stores so they keep their inventory manageable through reduced variety... eg: fewer cerial or coffee options and a smaller cosmetics section, etc.... I still like the store!!

Only stocked when the military hasnt been payed yet, the day of and after the place is empty. I would think management would know that there business consists of and only of military personnel and family. So one would think that inventory should be upped around the 1st and 15th.

Great small-sized commissary. Has most of what we need and is generally well-stocked. Produce can be hit-or-miss at times. Check the expiration dates on your more-perishable products because they tend to leave things on the shelf too long. They take Apple Pay which is convenient and they have Wi-FI since every commissary I have shopped at in the DoD must have a faraday chage to prevent cell signals! It is nice to be able to sync you grocery list app, text home for a Hey, do we have blank?, or just price compare.
