Awesome experience in June to test out (and purchase) a new canoe. Dave and staff were super helpful, explaining various boating aspects, letting us demo 3 different canoes, all in a very no-pressure environment. The shop was well set up for covid, with masks and sanitizer and other protocols in place. We even got instructions on tying the boat to the roof before we set off. If youre in the greater DMV area and in the market for a boat ACK is definitely a place worth visiting.

From rentals to purchases, ACK is a great local business if you are looking to get onto the water. Dave was great to work with during my mid-pandemic SUP purchase last year. They stand by the merchandise they sell, and when I was having repeated issues with the adhesive on my paddle failing (no fault of ACK, I chalk to up to pandemic QC issues that plagued much of manufacturing last year), they replaced my paddle free of charge not once, but twice, until finally the third paddle stuck. They even took back the one I had duct taped together without blinking an eye. We returned last night to purchase a kayak and again, Dave was incredibly helpful in educating us about all the features of each boat. No typical salesperson tactics or upselling, just straightforward information and genuine interest in connecting us with the right kayak for our needs. Super responsive via email as well. Cant recommend highly enough.

I had a fantastic experience here buying things for my first kayak. They didn’t have the rack I needed but took the time to write down everything I would need, and then called me when the paddles I needed were in stock. Also gave me some helpful tips and advice. As a beginner I was nervous I would get taken advantage of but everyone was very friendly and helpful - will be coming back for any yak related things!

Friendly staff and great inventory. They had the size paddle I was looking for, paddle float, bilge pump and sponge all in stock. Im glad I made the trip out to them from Fairfax, VA. I will be visiting again when Im ready to purchase one of the beautiful Current Design boats they have.

I’m 83 years old and going to attempt kayaking for the first time.😱 The staff here is great, helpful in getting me set up with what I need. No pressure to buy something, and if something I bought didn’t fit,no problem returning it. First class operation.👍 Hope I have some luck fishing.🙏

Parking here is great if you own a smart car, otherwise you might have to wait til a spot opens up. Lightly good selection. Provided the bare minimum for customer service. Since they didnt have what I needed they dropped me like a hot potato. Ended up leaving, although I could have spent a couple grand. Quaint but small. Worth at least a once through.

Rented 3 kayaks while visiting from the northwest. Although new to kayaking we had just returned from an amazing kayak trip to our San Juan Islands. Our expectations were low for kayaking at Annapolis but we thought it might be fun. The staff at Annapolis couldn’t have been better. Because we were experience they upgraded us to light touring kayaks and gave us good recommendations on where to go. It turned out to be the highlight of our vacation in the DC area. I wished we had a local kayak shop that was as friendly and accommodating.

I called ACK in early to July, 2016 to see if they had a particular boat in stock. I wanted to buy a Current Designs Solstice GT as I had paddled this sea kayak before and liked it, and I felt it would be a safe first boat for me. I wanted to depart soon on a long journey and ACK had the GT in stock. I placed a phone order for the boat and then came into the shop a few days later to purchase all the other equipment I needed. Dave Young, the owner, patiently spent the time with me to help me with each decision, I appreciated that much. He also showed me how to car top my boat home without a rack. That was a great skill to learn.. A few days later I set off from Alexandria, headed for the Great Lakes. I made it to Buffalo, NY and then I paddled the Mississippi River. My equipment worked out great and I think ACK played a big part in my success by stocking quality boats and equipment and offering advice based on much knowledge and experience. Im a believer in buying local and supporting small businesses. I feel good about making my purchases at ACK.

I went to Annapolis Canoe and Kayak for the first time today. I did not make a reservation, however, they had plenty of rentals and provided me with two single kayaks without wait. The staff was very knowledgeable and friendly. It should be noted for tourists that AC&K is located near the heart of downtown Annapolis and their prices are quite reasonable. I highly recommend and will definitely go back!.

I’ve bought 2 peddle Ocean Kayaks and my first SUP( Thunderbird Tahoe)- all awesome boats! I demo-ed my Sup - paying a rental fee for each SUP I used which the fee applied to my eventual purchase. Also, I was advised on purchases of bungee cords, roof racks, tie down straps( including a video -how to instruction), roof roll cushions, led hats, eyeglass leashes, and wallets. Dave Young guided me in making smart personal decisions that I’ve enjoyed for years!

Best of everything with people who know what their doing. The lady who complained about not being able to get a rental at 6 its because they dont rent after 3:30 and if she could read shed have seen the signs. Plenty of choices and space to walk. They should get 10 stars.

Recently purchased a kayak, PFD, and paddle here. Very friendly staff. I already knew what kayak I wanted and saw that a big box store also had the kayak, I chose to support local business and I was not let down. It was a trip of a drive so I called ahead and they set the kayak aside so the trip would not be a waste of time. This was my first kayak and gear purchase and they were helpful in getting me the right equipment. I will go here again for future kayak related purchases.

I bought a canoe, paddles, and a life vest from them. They are very helpful and pleasant. I do not think you can go wrong shopping here. They were also very helpful tying up the canoe to transport it.

I’m a new paddler and went to ACK to learn about what kind of kayak would best work for me. I ended up talking extensively about the dynamics of different boats and what I should be looking for being a bigger person. I was able to rent one of their kayaks for a day to be sure buying a boat is what I wanted to do, and then ultimately purchased a beautiful Kestrel 140 from the shop.Everyone I interacted with was wonderfully helpful. I took advantage of their Mother’s Day sale and got a boat I could not be happier with for a great price.A day after purchasing I noticed a minor math mistake in the purchase receipt, and a quick 5 minute trip to the shop got it all sorted out with no hassle. I’m very happy with my experience with the store and have a feeling I’ll be coming back as I grow into the sport of paddling.

If your looking to try stand up paddle boarding - this is the place to start. They offer rentals by the hour and Dave and his staff are super nice and knowledgeable ... they will outfit you with the right gear to get you SUPin’. We thought we’d go out for 30 min, but ended up going all the way up Spa Creek for a 2 hour trek. Can’t say enough good things about ACK.

Visiting the area and decided to check this place out. My disappointments were: they say on their site that they rent composite kayaks, but they dont; they close at 7 on weekdays, but if you show up before 6 to rent a kayak for the weekend, an unfriendly person tells you you cant, because they put the boats away early (and are apparently in a netherworld inaccessible until the next morning that looks remarkably like a shed); their showroom is so crammed full of boats, many of which to my understanding appeared improperly stored, that you can barely get around in it and see whats what. Wanted to support a local place, but ended up at a nearby EMS to make my purchases and rent instead.

Great place for acquiring a Kayak and/or Kayak Accessories. We found Lee to be knowledgeable, patient and friendly. They have a great show room, and a great selection!

I rented a few kayaks from them two years ago when friends came to visit and I was quickly bitten by the kayaking bug. Fast forward a year and they were selling their rental fleet at bargain rates. I stopped by and picked out a fantastic Tarpon 140 which would suit my fishing and paddling needs quite nicely. When I asked about a paddle they measured me alongside a few and asked what I would find my time doing in the kayak. It was obvious they knew how to place the perfect paddle and kayak for my needs.The people there were full of knowledge and friendly to boot. Each and every time I stop in im pleasantly greeted and know that if I ask a question they will answer based on their own experiences.They manage to also build up the community in and around Annapolis by throwing grilling parties, paddling parties, SUP parties, etc. An amazing addition to the Annapolis area. I know I will always be sending my business their way.

This place is nestled in Eastport/ Annapolis Md. I was looking all over for a new fishing Kayak. I had lots to learn about then as well as regular ones. I came here and learned everything that I needed to know by these well knowleged people. You can also take a test ride for $20 but that is refundable toward a purchase. This is a great benefit to assure that this is the right chouce for you.

Parking is ok, but not great and be ready to launch from a dock (I learned thats definitely different than from shore)

Staff are wonderful... THey know their kayaks too.... listened to what we wanted and made some suggestions that worked out great for my wife and I. Price is not an option since all kayaks are the same price regardless of the store... so you look for what else the business has to offer... this one has knowlegable friendly staff!
