This place is great! I drove from Raleigh to go here today with my girlfriend and we got the cheapest bag to sift and it still filled a decent sized plastic bag. It was a good experience and the lady working was very informative and knowledgeable. Overall I would highly recommend going even if youre not into this sort of thing. The shop was full of great fossils and minerals/crystals! Thanks for the experience.

Traveled quite a bit to get here and it was not a disappointment! The owner met us at the door and was extraordinarily welcoming and knowledgeable.My entire family had a wonderful time. Cant wait to come back.

What a fun place to take the family or even go by yourself. You never know what you are going to get in your bucket and the surprise of it all is so exciting. We definitely made long lasting memories with our 5 children here.

Invited my mom to come during her visit from Alabama! We had a great time with my 3 year old and 5 year old. The Jurassic bucket and Rockhound bucket were super fun to work through! The staff were very knowledgeable and polite, which was awesome! My 3 year old had a potty accident and I couldnt have been more happy with with way it was handled by the staff, no shaming, just reassuring that it was OK and it happens (which made my 3 y.o. feel better about the situation and not embarrassed). We will for sure be coming back again! Everything was very fairly priced, and the items for sale were cool, theres something for everyone!

I found Treasure Quest Mining online while searching for things to do with the kids on a rainy afternoon. So glad I found it. Took three of our boys, ages 8, 8, and 11, and they had a blast. Really cool set up. They have a “river” running down a wood platform that everyone stands at. We bought a large bucket to pan through. It was less expensive to get the bucket than three individual bags so we ended up getting rock candy too. The bucket is equal to five bags. Very kind and knowledgeable staff. They answered all the kids’ questions about what they found. The gems were a great size; the kids think they’re legit rich now. One gem was about the size of a golf ball. Everyone ended up with about 40 gems each. We were there about 40 minutes but you could spend tons more time there if you search through the smaller rocks that my kids just kept spilling out in favor of the bigger ones 😑 Would be so much fun for a birthday party. Highly recommend.

Absolutely loved mining for gems and minerals! We found this place by chance one day and loved it so much, were back again today. If you want something fun to do with the kids, have them dig for hidden treasures. Treasure Quest doesnt disappoint!

This place is awesome!! We took my 10 year year old son and his 12 year old best friend here today after church, and they both wanted to do the Meg dig. I can’t even tell you how much fun we all had sifting through the buckets together! Honestly, I was pretty blown away at all the awesome shells and shark’s teeth they found! Next time we go, I’m pretty certain my wife and I will also be getting a bucket for ourselves! Also, the gift shop is absolutely wonderful, and the lady working there was so helpful and knowledgeable!! We will definitely be back very soon!!

My grandson was thrilled with his time sifting for rocks. He is 11 and visiting and could hardly wait to share with his parents all the new specimens to add to his collection. I also will be back to get him a Christmas present. They had a treasure trove of ideas from which to choose . Thanks to the young ladies working there for their help.

Loved this place! Great fun activity for kids, my 6 and 9 year olds both enjoyed it (as did I!). Cute little store with lots of unique items. Thought the mining bags were very reasonably priced. We look forward to coming back again!

OMG! I’m was in complete energetic heaven in this store! The owner is so knowledgeable. You can bring your children here and enjoy indoor gem mining. It’s clean and the prices are amazing. They have a geode cracker so you can safely open them. Obviously I am in love with this place. This is my opinion. You decide for yourself. :)

Visited for the first time today, it was a great time and we felt very safe due to the COVID measures that were kindly but firmly enforced. Beautiful treasures at every price point. I enjoyed looking at the jewelry, rocks and fossils, and my kids loved the break your own geodes and small collector rocks. Great place to take your kids to have fun. The $12 bags that I got for each kid had enough treasures to wow them.

Fun, affordable, no obnoxious gimmicks, very kind and accommodating owner and staff. Recommend %100! As a side note, their selection of purchasable Crystals are very competitively be priced. Gem & Shell Mining was a Blast for these 8 year olds! It was an excellent value and the store is beautiful! The two women who were working there were super helpful and knowledgeable.

What a fantastically awesome and unique place! My sister brought me in to show me where she had been buying our grandfathers Christmas and birthday gifts from. Without a doubt I will be coming back to get more things for him and myself. The prices are super reasonable as well. This place has such a great energy to it, and the staff and owners are all so friendly!

Kids had a blast searching for all different types of rocks. 3 of them found huge beautiful quartz rocks but they all came home with a big bag of all types of finds. Our kids ranged from 3 - 9 and they all really enjoyed it. It was about $85 total for a huge bucket and kept them busy for a good 30 mins.

I can NOT resist a polished gemstone - like it’s a problem. Finding Treasure Quest not only provided me so much personal happiness (so many beautiful specimens on display and for sale) but the gem mining was a really fun activity for my almost 5 year old! SO many raw gemstones were in the bucket and what kid doesn’t love playing in a little water and finding surprises?! I’m now trying to repress the memories / sounds I know come with buying an in-home rock tumbler (SO loud for so long.ha.) and give tumbling another try. Also, their Etsy shop is 🔥. This place is definitely in my top 10 reasons of why I’m glad I moved to the area. 🙂

This place is so fun for adults and kids! For COVID they have appointments so you know you’ll be spaced out and you’ll be able to start mining when you arrive. We took our friends 10 year old here and he had an absolutely amazing time. He got so many fossils to bring home and the prices are so reasonable. They also have kits you can take home but it’s much more fun to do in person!

I love this store and their selection of gems and fossils. Prices are fantastic and the employee was so friendly and helpful. You can buy half bucket or a full bucket of dirt with gemstones and sort them in the store or at home.

Amazing prices and great selection for crystals

We have had a ton of fun quarantined with 7 kids; a few buckets of gems, a bag of geodes, and some cute little dragons we found at your shop! We went and picked the items up; easy social distancing. The staff were AMAZING! They made sure we had the best supplies to make sure all the kids had great backyard mining adventures. We found so many neat treasures in our mining buckets. We sifted out some of the little rock and made resin pictures with them. Finding the treasures inside of the geodes was like opening a Christmas present with a hammer. The baby birthstone gem dragons were a huge hit with the kids. We made special boxes for each one. Thank you so so much for helping us find quarantine safe family fun adventures; that lasted several days.

This is a great activity that is reasonably priced and a lot of fun. I recently took my son and his friends here and they spent a good 30 minutes shifting through their buckets for gems and minerals. Angeline and her crew are very knowledgable and talk you through all the treasures youve found. The gift shop is well stocked with items in a variety of price ranges for both kids and adults. I especially like the little animal sculptures made out of minerals, these are fun to collect! I splurged at Christmas and got a shark tooth necklace (see picture) - there are lots of high quality jewelry pieces to choose from.

I was pleasantly surprised by the prices here. Attentive staff and a good selection of minerals and stones and fossils.

We stopped by here coming back from vacation, and grabbed a bucket of dirt to treasure hunt. We started sifting, and found lots of interesting pieces. Still have to finish sifting, clean them, and identify.

Fun for all ages. Helpful staff. Weve gotten the largest bucket twice now for pickup and havent been disappointed. The geodes have been really beautiful as well! Will definitely recommend to others and be back in the future.

Absolutely wonderful! We came in today with a 2,3 and 7 year old. The employees were very nice but not over bearing. They were very kind to all of the boys and WOW the items we found!!We did the shell/shark teeth and the gems both $10 buckets. This was the perfect amount for the boys to split!!Fantastic experience! We were driving from Wilmington to Philadelphia and I could NOT have a complete trip to North Carolina without finding and taking home some beautiful treasures, my boyfriend and I stopped here on a Thursday afternoon and the owners were so incredibly nice and hospitable! We left feeling like we really should have paid more with all the beautiful treasures our 55$ bucket turned up! A lot of beautiful specimens in their shop as well- if I lived in the area I’d spend every birthday here 😍

We went to a childs birthday party here. It was such a neat and fun experience. The boys found plenty of seashells and sharks teeth. Staff were friendly and helpful. I think the Birthday boy enjoyed his party.

This was a lot of fun for my 5 year old son! He was so excited to sift for gems and brought home a lovely little collection. Way better than the landscape gravel he tries to collect.

I went here for Fathers Day with the family. The owner was super helpful and very nice. We bought the $30 bucket and it was plenty for my family of 4 to sift through. We found a bunch of great gems, part of a geode and one huge crystal. The gems are planted in the buckets but that doesnt make the experience any less enjoyable. Its still need sifting for what you can find. I had a great time and my kids keep begging me to go back. Its a great idea for a birthday party or just a fun little treat for the family to do. Well definitely try this place again. The shop also has a nice display of gems, fossils and other knickknacks you can buy. Its very nice inside and looks almost like a museum. Fun place!

This family owned business offered prehistoric gifts, hand made gifts, along with the owner mentioning home parties & group events.During our mining experience we discovered different size gems, minerals, shells, and fossils, ranging from large to minuet for our own crafts.Above all, the quality and costs for four adults was/is worth the price and enjoyment.👍

We had a GREAT family experience! While the kids were busy panning for gems and stones, we stayed busy looking at ALL the great values in the shop! We picked up a couple of geodes for the kids to smash for 6 bucks too! The price to VALUE is unreal! Angeline was super informative and engaging. My kids are ready to go back ASAP! We have 2 kids 7 and 9 and they are intrested in this sort of thing and they loved it. The girls working the counter were very helpful the whole experience was great. They definitely over delivered when it came to the buckets the have shells, fossils, and gyms.

We have a five year old and two year old and we had an absolute blast. The staff is very friendly and you get a lot of goodies to bring home. It kept them entertained for awhile. Another major plus is it is in air conditioned!!! They also have an awesome gift shop with a great selection of toys for the kids, fossils, and gems. We will be back again.

We had an absolutely amazing experience here!! There were eight of us, 2 adults, 2 grandparents, 2 teenagers, and 2 little kids ages 4 and 2. And to quote the 4 year old “Nana this was the most awesome best water play ever!!”The staff/owners were super friendly and helpful and didn’t seem to mind the 2 year old screaming with excitement every time she would find a crystal or colored stone!!It was a great way to spend a few hours with “all” our kids!! Not to mention finding 2 rubies and 1 emerald large enough to have cut and set wasn’t too bad either!!Come check this place out! You won’t be disappointed!!

Absolutely amazing experience! I have not done gem mining/panning in years and this was far better than anything I have done. To start off with, the whole facility is so clean and kept cool which is a blessing in this NC heat. I went with my brother and we each got a bucket of shells and then shared a big bucket of gems which totaled out to be $70 or so and we had some amazing finds. We each received multiple shark teeth and a variety of full unbroken shells large and small. I know some places used to do the fake coloured stones and charge a lot for them but for the $55 bucket we received a large amount of actual gems and minerals. My brother even found 2 very large geode-esque pieced of amethyst amongst many other gorgeous finds. The owner was very sweet and hospitable. She regularly checked in on us as we panned and made sure we were having a good time. I will definitely be coming back hopefully many times in the future, even if it is to purchase some stones or fossils from the gift shop portion of the facility. The prices for everything is just so reasonable and with the friendly staff, you just cant beat this place.

We held my daughters 7th birthday party here and I cant say enough good things about our experience. Communication was great, the decorations were wonderful and the kids had a blast. We got the deluxe miners package and the staff did such a great job leading the kids through identification games. They kept the party moving along so the kids were kept engaged throughout the party. Plus the kids got to take a ton of fabulous gems home with them! I felt the cost was well worth it, and would highly recommend this experience.

We had an absolute blast! The shop is beautiful and even nicer than Id hoped--they have an unusual and beautiful selection of stones and fossils at very reasonable prices! My husband and I got the $30 prospector bucket to split between us, which was just right. We came home with so much treasure!! I cant recommend this place enough!

Had a birthday party here for my 7 year old daughter. Everything was organized and the party room was fabulous. Each kid got a BIG bucket of treasure to use in the sleuce. They provided table cloths, paper products, utensils, ligthers, etc for free and offered water and juice boxes for the entire group (including adults) for only $5 extra. Very affordable and fun! I would highly recommend treasure quest mining for a fun family outing or birthday party!

I hate to recommend this place, lest everyone steal my secret!There are a few rock shops in Raleigh. Ive been to most of them. This one has the BEST deals by far. Inventory will change regularly, as they hand-pick everything they buy. Literally.You will pay 4-8 times as much other places.Plus, and this is a BIG plus, they know the source of everything. Once you buy a few fakes, you know how important this is.They also have rare stuff! I bought a super 7 crystal and a piece of shungite (straight from Russia) for about $10.#morethanmeetstheeye
