Bob and Ediths is a great diner, and even though theyve expanded to include some other locations, this original location retains a special charm that could be described as a comfortable, neighborly vibe. Ive eaten here a number of times and the servers have always been polite and friendly. Sometimes the diner concept borders on excess (e.g. The Silver Diner). While those more upscale spots are cool in their own way, sometimes you just want a quick, delicious, and affordable meal at a diner that doesnt take itself too seriously. Bob and Ediths is that diner, and I love it for that.
What a great place for breakfast! We went there on a hot Sunday morning and were able to find parking near by and a table within a few mins of waiting, the food was good and reasonably priced. The experience feels original with all the photos and memorabilia on the walls and the service is great. We had a great time and didn’t feel rushed. The shakes are great! We will be back anytime we are in the area for breakfast.
Its an old location so now its cooks of different nationalities and owners of different nationalities ..anyway I didnt get it how I wanted it which I know wasnt anlanguage barrier be the waitress and the cooks was the same nationalities and the waitress spoke great English....but she was running the whole restaurant and not appreciated or compensated..🤔😕 p.s all that butter on the toast 🤢🤮also I said no ham was almost done before I seen it and I was hungry when I ate wasnt inspecting the food. ..
I ordered my food online thinking it would be quicker because I dont like waiting long periods when Im starving. The order time for the order to be ready at 2:45am. I arrived at 2:35am. It is now 3:15 and Im still waiting for the order to be prepared. There is one waitress and one cook. For a busy place over night considering the pick up orders. A guy was picking up for doordash also waiting since 2:30am
I was surprised at how tasty this diner is! Good place to stop at one the way from D.C. to Arlington. Nothing spectacular stands out, but everything together made it a very good experience. I was glad there was parking. Theres a pretty good amount of seating inside. The staff is VERY courteous. I liked the food selection, as the was something that we all liked. The pancakes are pretty good, so be sure to try them out.
Sat down for 15 minutes without being waited on, greeted on, etc. with 4 other tables in the restaurant. I like the establishment and have had good experiences in the past but this one was awful. I know covid has affected things and I am sympathetic to that, but this was not the case/excuse relevant here.
100% recommend! We had breakfast here every morning during our trip, and we always had a great experience. Service was super friendly and our meals were really good!
I had the country fried steak with brown gravy and my 2 sides were hash brown and a salad. The food was great! But with that being said, my biggest pet peeve with me is customer service! PAY ATTENTION TO DETAIL has to be anyone’s number one especially when listening to the customer and not forgetting what they order!
Great little local diner. The cheese omelet and Country fried steak were excellent. The fried chicken is better elsewhere. Stick with the breakfast, burgers and beef. Service was fast, friendly and attentive. Well be back when in Virginia.
I usually eat here all the time. I even bought my Mom a gift card to this place because we love it so much. I usually come earlier in the morning so maybe thats the issue. I came in around lunch, and mostly Im greeted right away by a server, even if they cant get right to me. Today, I stood at the register for several minutes while servers rushed back and forth, one almost bumping into me, and not one of them even acknowledged a potential customer was standing there. Guess Ill stick to the early morning hours. 😒
Tried Bob & Ediths for the first time, and I was extremely disappointed. Im an easy person to please, and dont write many reviews about anything, but the bad food I had this morning warranted it. Ive never had scrambled eggs so runny in my life. They were barely cooked and inedible, had to toss them. The bacon was also undercooked and disgusting, and I love me some bacon. The only good part were the home fries and toast. With out those, I would have gone hungry, and the only reason I didnt give 1 star. Do yourself a favor and never order take out from this place. 100% will never go back. Barf.
I went to eat steak,it didnt happened, the server was so busy she didn care what I got, I ended eating fries and some weard meat, didnt like it
My go to restaurant for brunch and breakfast. I love the original location since they’ve opened up quite in few locations I the last 4 years. Ask for Sonny, he’ll take care of you.
This is a staple in the area. If you love diner food this is the place to get it at. Service is super fast portions are super generous for the price!! We are here weekly since moving to the area in June but I have been to other locations and confirm they all give great service!!
The food is delicious!! The place was pretty busy but all the food we got was exactly how it should taste. We got the biscuit and gravy and the corn beef hash. Highly recommend.
Ive ordered from here 3 times. The first time was the only time it was fabulous. I had hotcakes and ham.The other two times Ive ordered, I ordered via doordash. The first time I had the setting replace with recommended if not available and thus when I got the complete wrong order I figured eh, close enough and went on about my night. My third time ordering, I specifically selected Call me, or cancel order if unavailable. Instead I got the complete wrong order delivered.. again.I wont be returning in person, or via doordash.
24 hours open was perfect coming from working on a project late into the night...its something to fill you if you need a bite!
Great diner with great prices. 2 for breakfast for less than $20 and OPEN 24HRS. What a delightful surprise to find in the DC metro area.
I thought it wasn’t possible but my friend was right and this place is always packed. However the wait is worth it.The server I had was had good energy and very helpful with suggestions on the “classic” American diner menu.If you can manage waiting for a table you’ll be satisfied with your food and the size of your plate! I personally was and I went for my favorite...BREAKFAST!*the food looks a bit lackluster but it was good!**they have different specials everyday!
Service was slow but that wasn’t a problem. The burgers are basically frozen and tasted like they put it in the microwave. The biscuits and gravy made my girlfriend sick, the sausage was NOT cooked.
Packed house but food was satisfying.. Ive been here a few times and its normally pretty busy.. I hope at some point they renovate and make their dining room larger.. Im sure they can afford to!
Food was good. I felt it was a bit over priced. Booths are old time small. Air was really cranked up.
I went here for the first time after the club and let me say that time will be my last time. The food was mediocre. The apple juice tasted hella weird. The home fries were dry and disgusting. Each potato chunk was huge, the size of plums. It is like they didnt even take the time to chop the potato to cook it all the way through. I will say the bacon was crispy.
This is the best and one of the only true diners in the DC area. Everything about it is what you want from the food to the ambiance. I end up eating here way too much..
Food is tasteful, fresh, properly serviced, but atte tion to custumer and learning is not the best.
Theres a lot to unpack here. Im not gonna do that. Just know that the grilled cheese sandwich was the best thing they offered us that night 😫.
This Place Is Amazing. It Feels Like and Old School Dinner and The Food Is Amazing. The Servers Are Always Fast and Polite, Its A Small Place But The Service Is So Fast That It Doesnt Take That Long To Get A Table. Milkshakes Are Awsome and The Best Part Is That Its Open 24/7. Will Be Coming Back Very Soon. I Wish They Had Avocado But Its All Good. Good Bye Ihop, Hello Bob and Ediths!
The food at this location is trash. My steak is red not done at all I ask for well done the eggs are burnt. This the second time my food was rushed and not right. The best location is 23RD Bob Edith.
So darn good! Exactly what we were after - no-frills, in and out, delicious breakfast. Quick and friendly staff, great prices, will definitely return and glad to have finally experienced a DMV classic!
Not coming back. Grits were terrible, omelet was under cooked and toast was limp. Not good and definitely overpriced for what you get.
Original diner with great customer service and delicious food. We had a great time! Highly recommend!
Very friendly staff but food got reduced and prices went up some. Also tasted little greasy.
Shazam!!! We searched long and far for a rustic, bare bones, good food breakfast place. As NYC and NJ transplants, we have been exposed to good diner type eats and this is hands down the best we have come across. Delicious, simple, satisfying serving size and classic diner pricing. Its loud, busy, tight and just right.Best of all: family owned!
Yes, there is a perfect 24-hour diner *outside* New Jersey. That country-fried steak breakfast is to die for!
Servers are worthless. Had me waiting 10minutes at the door before saying they were done taking orders for the night.Food is usually pretty good, but come on, dont waste my time like that.
Wonderful local diner. Great un- fussy food, good service. The blueberry pancakes were delicious and the bacon was plentiful and crispy with a good flavor. Very clean!
One the best burgers I have ever had.
Excellent food, quickly delivered to the table. Excellent attention to keeping our drinks topped off. I will return soon.
Great food prices and service. Excellent value. Breakfast anytime. Dont miss it!
Good food. Friendly staff. No complaints 👍🏼
Open 24 x 7. Great food at better prices.
Best diner food within twenty miles, open 24/7, there is in-restaurant dining. Amazing chicken fried steak (called county fried steak), home fries, hash browns, and hamburgers. Also, wonderful take out and multiple locations.
Food was good. Me and my 6’6 boyfriend ended up on a small booth that seats two. Not much room to move around but it is so busy there they never come ask you if everything is okay or if I needed anything. We paid cash and left. They never even checked. We asked another waitress to get our tab.
Started going here in 1993. Great diner food!
Brought my visiting family and they absolutely loved it. Good was delicious and service was great. Both my grandparents are on mobility scooters and the staff was so helpful and kind. Many diners in DC attempt to try to bring the hometown dinner to the city but miss the mark. This place is the hometown diner the DMV needs.
Best brunch spot in DMV. Is an ESTABLISHMENT. Their hashbrowns da bomb 💣🥇 Try the iced coffee and milkshakes
EDIT: Now that I’m vaccinated, I love this place and come regularly! Great food and nice staff!Original review below.—If you’re COVID sensitive, don’t order - even for takeout. So, the food was good! I’m looking forward to going back once COVID has died down. However, it felt crazily unsafe inside covid wise. Poor ventilation, no separation between booths, some cooks with masks below their chins, definitely not six feet of space between people. They could have different practices here for takeout: call when you’re out front to get it brought to you for example.I regret going hugely, it was probably the biggest risk I’ve taken this entire year for Covid, and I had no idea that was going to be the case until I walked in. I wish I had turned around honestly.
The original. When a hole in the wall in the parking lot of a gas station is always this crowded, you know its awesome. Lives up to the hype.
I have no idea why this place is as busy as it is or why it has such stellar reviews. I had the biscuits and gravy the first time and they were incredibly disappointing. I love food and am not hard to please so for me to not be able even finish it really says something about just how subpar it was. The biscuits werent fresh, they were dense and tasted like they came from a factory. The gravy didnt have much flavor at all.I wanted to give them a second chance so I tried the pecan waffles... let me correct myself: pecan waffle. It was almost $10 for a single waffle. It wasnt even anything special. Ive made significantly better waffles at home. The only positive about it was that it actually had a reasonable amount of pecans in it.I was going to give 1 star but I added a star only because of how nice and personable the staff always is.
Friendly environment, very affordable. Fast service.
This is a great place to go when you need a quality meal for a reasonable price! Our server was great as was our meal.
Their sandwiches really hit the spot. Yum!
Good ole Bob& Ediths on Colombia Pike, Arl., Va. Been loving breakfast there since 1981❤️😋
My son and I had a blast. Extra crispy fried and a chocolate shake.
Great dinner food. Wish they had booze. Wish the windows opened…
The diner was small but just fine for us. The menu is exactly what you would expect from a diner and the service was quick and super friendly. Im only knocking 1 star cause Im my opinion the bacon was overcooked, the hash browns were over cooked (good but thin and dark and crunchy)I would for sure go back and try other dishes. The best part of the diner was the people and service (my plate was literally wiped clean and he asked me if I was going to need a box.. haha great joke!)
Best customer service around. Felt so lucky to have gone to this location and it was the very first open. Omg the food was absolutely delicious and worth it. Sitting In front of that pic of The Big Show signing autographs really made my night. Thank u Bob and Ediths!!!!
Its a classic and this original Columbia Pike location is the best. French fries are awesome.
Went there and the waitress took too long to take our order, so we left.
I pretty much grew up my whole life here in Arlington and this still remains as one of the most iconic restaurants in the Arlington areaFor a good reasonBECAUSE THE FOOD IS SO GOOD!I can type here all the reasons why the food tastes good but you have to try it yourself. Trust me, you wont regret it!Also it has a cute old diner look to it a bonus!RECOMMEND FOR SURE!
Seems to have lost some of its charm and taste once they expanded. Food tasted like Applebees and was overpriced.
Good food service and prices.
I havent even left yet and Im already leaving a positive review. This place is great. Its a diner down the a main street in Arlington. Parking was iffy(we had to park in an unmarked spot), but the food absolutely made up for it. I ordered the French Toast with scrambled eggs, and grapefruit juice. Sprinkled a little sugar on the French toast, and dug in. Absolutely amazing. Best French Toast I have ever had, and French Toast is a hard item to nail. I definitely recommend coming here for breakfast, even if youre staying on the other side of DC.
With the new attitude towards food I even expect a diner to offer some healthier and varied options. The diner is fine for the standards, but I cant say what makes it special, except the staff. The do not have fresh juice, veggie sausage or bacon, nor goat cheese. The goods quality is basic...basic wheat bread, boxed sugar cereals, American cheese, packaged jelly. And yet a plate is still $7 to $12. To take it further the lighting is bad. I dont equate diner with low grade expectations or experience. This place needs an Interior design review. For me I wouldnt go out of my way. The Top in Gainesville Florida sets my standard for comparison. However if you dont mind your diet, its ok. Ask for brown sugar if you want it.
Awesome place for breakfast in the mornings.
Diner food and coffee the way it should be, quick and delicious.
Good place and the service was excellent. Not as busy as I thought it would be for a table of 4 at 9:45 am on Sunday.
Very small diner, very clean and exceptional food and service! Would definitely recommend
Wonderful small 24 hour diner with fast, friendly, efficient service. Expect to find delicious, hot breakfast; cooked as ordered. There will be a wait during prime breakfast hours, but the self monitored line moves quickly. This local chain is a go-to when I need a stick to the ribs breakfast at a reasonable price.
Great little diner. Wide range of options.
Love this place! I used to eat here in the 80s!! It still has the exact same charm as it did back then and the same t-shirts for sale. The food was good and the service was very fast. Ate there about 10pm and there was plenty of seating. Definitely recommend.
Food is not ready when I went to pick up the food after an hour and my hashbrons is missing.
This is the second time in the last three days that I have ordered take out breakfast for my son and me. Both times the order received was incorrect. The first time they forgot an order grits, put the pancakes in the container with vents on the bottom, so the syrup leaked all over my desk. Today, first they forgot the chili, and when I got back to the hotel found they also forgot the bacon. The only upside to this mess was that the general manager was very apologetic, refunded my charge, and promised to talk with the staff about the need to pay attention to customer orders.
Very tasty and not pricey at all
The food is so bland maybe if they had people who actually understood American food nvm
Nice diner. A staple whenever Im in the area.
Bob and Ediths is a nice diner. My friend and I go here a lot. I love the omelet.
The food and service was great.
Watch out for that top step! First time visiting and I enjoyed myself. I was shocked when I saw they served turkey sausage (rare find) for breakfast; so they have a customer for life. The breakfast menu included the basics (eggs, waffles, corn beef hash, scrapple, etc) but the only combos were on the eggs portion of the menu; extras like pancakes needed to be ordered separately. Good place to stop for a hardy breakfast before hitting the road again.
Had lunch w the family, great family atmosphere
