Had a really good experience here. I havent gotten my brakes done since buying my car and my car has 90K miles on it. I dont know anything about cars and would have believed anything they told me (friends and family told me I could be looking at a hefty bill depending on what was needed) but they ended up telling me I only needed front brake pads! I feel they were very honest and got me in quickly before my weekend trip to Kentucky. Definitely recommend!

100% satisfied! I had the catalytic converter taken from 4Runner while it was parked in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Affordable Mufflers was able to replace the stolen parts for one-tenth the price quoted by the dealership. The work was done in less than a day. Needless to say, I was thrilled. My catalytic converters were stolen while on an overnight hike. I was given a fair price even when he knew I was from out of town and needed to be headed back home in two days. He got the work done quickly and I drove the 700 miles home without a single problem. If I am ever in that unfortunate situation again, I would not hesitate to go back.

I appreciate affordable mufflers and brakes so much! My brakes needed replacing and I was expecting to go in and be told all four needed new brakes. To my surprise I only needed two and was even given an estimate as to how long my other brakes would last. It is first come first serve so make sure to arrive early but I would recommend my friends and family to come here for brake repair or other car issues.

This was a unique experience, they take appointments on a first come first serve basis, so my advice go at 7:15 am. I priced out new brake pads at several shops in Asheville, this shop was the most affordable in comparison. One shop wanted to charge me $500 for brake pads and new rotors I asked Gary if he could resurface the rotors I wanted to do that, he said they were still good enough to he resurfaced the other shop didn’t. I felt that they were honest, efficient and I waited maybe an hour. It’s been two weeks and my brakes work perfectly now!

I went here because I needed to have my front brakes/rotors replaced. I was quoted $350 and $400 to fix it at other places in Asheville but decided to give Affordable Mufflers and Brakes a try because of all the great reviews. I’m so glad I did! Gary fixed my brakes in less than a day and it was only $240! I had a great experience overall and will definitely recommend this place and come back myself.

I was having an issue with my muffler so a friend recommended this place. I dropped my car off rather than wait and he called me 3 hours later. He charged me $25 for a bolt replacement. He is a very timely, honest, and honorable man. 10/10 will recommend.

Straightforward, honest, and swift. I went in last week with soft brakes and thought it was gonna be an expensive job. A quick diagnosis revealed I only needed an adjustment and my brakes are working great now. $60. Cant beat that!I feel a lot safer driving in the mountains with strong breaks. Many other places mighta tried to rip me off by tacking on a bunch of costs and unnecessary parts. Not here. Recently had brakes repaired on my old Ford truck and could not be happier with the quality of the work and my experience with the shop. Great work at affordable prices. I read other reviews that explained that work is done here first come, first served so I went early to get in line for scheduling for the day and ended up waiting less time for the job completion than I have at other shops even with an appointment. Came to Asheville for my daughters graduation and her car was making a horrible racket!! Took it to Affordable Mufflers with no appointment. The gentleman looked at it within 5 minutes, diagnosed the problem, and had the work done in 20 minutes for $35 ! Very good fast service and friendly mechanic!

Poor customer service, tried to make an appointment was told its first come first serve. Show up a few days later and Im told hes booked for days. Shop looks like its in a sketchy area. No way Im gonna leave my car in this gravel lot for days to be worked in. Business must be good because the guy didnt seem to want mine.

I love supporting local businesses. Yet I will no longer go to this shop and recommend that others be cautious about how they approach working with Affordable Mufflers & Brakes.I have been to this shop maybe 3 or 4 times and have had the following experience twice. I go in with the noise that means theres a hole in my exhaust system. He takes the car into the shop, is done in 20 minutes and charges some small amount of money - usually between $30 and $100. And then I drive away with the EXACT SAME NOISE in my car. Then its up to me to either followup with him or take it to another shop.The last time I took it back he put the car up on the rack and welded it again said Oh, I missed a spot. This last time, I took it to another shop who said it was the most amateurish weld theyd ever seen and in a Y joint on my car that would never be fixed with a weld. Ive attached a photo to this review. This new shop replaced the Y joint entirely and the problem is fixed. So I spent 50% more than what I would have if I went to the second shop only.Heres my thing: I dont mind that this shop is doing cheap and quick work to slap some quick fixes on cars. And yes its affordable. But if the fixes dont work 50-75% of the time, its no longer affordable, its throwing good money at nothing. He doesnt explain the options or the choices for repair. He offers cheap, quick welds that mostly dont work. He doesnt specify what kind of work hes doing. And in my mind that means hes OVERCHARGING people for very low quality work. Work that either doesnt fix the problem or it needs repair again in short order.Other people seem to experience this shop in a good way and Im glad for them. Based on my experience I wont ever bring my car here again.

Gary at Affordable Muffler and Brake is great! Twice over the last few years, the heat shields on my Subaru have come lose. Gary tack wields them back and refuses to take any money for his time. That speaks volumes in todays world! Looking for quality at a fair price - go here!

I will always recommend this shop as much as I can. I went there recently for the first time.. I was told good things by my friends and told to check it out. Needed some muffler repair. So I went and met the owner, told him my issue. Left my number and he said he would call in a couple days once he has my repair plan figured out. After a day or so, he called me with the repair plan and to tell me the parts for my car he ordered the day I came in arrived. I dropped my car off, and in about an hour or so.. He called me to tell me it was done. It got it done super quickly, and the price was unbeatable. And its quality work for sure.My car had the worst hole in the muffler, made the worst putter noise. I took my vehicle to two shops before this one. The 1st store quoted me $650 for a brake job, whereas the second quoted me $350. This store not only began working on my vehicle at the crack of dawn, but also ended up doing an excellent job for $150. Whereas the other stores insisted I needed to replace my brake disks etc, the gentleman who worked on my vehicle opted to simply repair them, rather than try to squeeze extra cash out of me.I left feeling very happy, and could tell this establishment is run by good people who do good work, and will not try to take you for a ride.

They fixed my cars muffler and also resurfaced my brakes EXTENDING the life of them. Gary could have easily said I needed to just get new brakes but he did not. The other place I had called wanted to charge me $200+ for brakes! Gary extended the life of mine. They ALSO went out of there way to see why my check engine light was on and gave me advice on where I should take it to get the codes looked at. BEST SERVICE EVER.

Been using them since I could first drive at 16. Honest, professional and yes affordable as in their title. When Joey was around he would generously give me a ride to work while they worked on my car. Gary has caught things on my vehicle that other shops have not while up on the rack.

Got our vehicle in same day and for less than $70 fixed an issue that had plagued our 14 Honda Odyssey for over a year, made worse braking downhill in the mountains. The service was great! Fast, friendly, and like the sign said affordable.1) I was a walk in with a Jeep that had an exhaust rattle. (Bad catalytic converter)2) They had one in stock.3) I was in and out in about an hour.Please understand... I got lucky. I just drove up to have the problem identified so that I could set up an appointment for some time later. They were almost finished with a break job that was ahead of me, and did not have any jobs lined up to do at that time. They took a minuet, identified the issue, finished the break job, and got to work on mine. I will definitely be using them again if my other car (daily driver) needs work.

Went in for a muffler because my exhaust was loud and rattling. Someone recommended Gary as doing good work and being fair. When he called and said my car was ready, he told me that I did not need a $100 muffler, only some replacement brackets. My car sounds great now and it only cost me $32 total. Highly recommended for all brake and muffler work!

Dealer recommended replacing muffler and exhaust pipe for over a $1000. Affordable patched the kink in the pipe for $30 in like an hour and a half - spring break was saved, my vehicles rattle is gone and Im not in debt. Id recommend to anyone.

I have known Gary most of my adult life (a long time!!) He has always done me right. I took my truck to him last week for a muffler and tailpipe. He also took care of a sensor so that I could get an inspection . He noticed that the U bolts were rusted and one was even broken! If he had not told me about that I probably never would have known and it could have been very costly and even dangerous. If you need brake or muffler work you cant go wrong here . Thanks Gary, Id give you six or seven stars if I could!!

This place is awesome! They have replaced my muffler and my brakes (rotors, calipers, and pads). Very affordable price and great service. You may wait a little bit because they are first come first serve but its well worth it. I wouldnt suggest anywhere else! Once they got it back it was done quickly. Im impressed!!!😁

Gary is a very helpful guy and a throwback to the old days when a mechanic would help you out without a bunch of forms and signatures. I needed a little adjustment made to my truck exhaust shields and he took care of it in five minutes, and didnt even charge me. Highly recommend.
