This restaurant completely met my expectations! It’s a very simple place but we were not looking for a fancy breakfast. If you want down home simple cooking, then this is the place for you. I thought our breakfast was great! I also liked the totally modest local vibe. Wait staff is friendly, checkered table cloths & hearty simple but good local food. Give it a try!
Not a single component of my bacon egg and cheese biscuit was warm, but it still tasted ok. my side of grits was completely unappealing. it was a tiny bowl of unseasoned watery gruel and Im pretty sure the description mentioned bacon... my husband ordered the ribeye breakfast. lets just say it was aged to the point of being sour, the over-easy eggs were over cooked. disappointing.
Country style dining with limited sides on their plate lunch. They seem to lean more towards Burgers and Sandwiches. Breakfast is served till 11:00AM, and they close at 2:00. Nothing special to talk about.

Great diner for homemade tasting breakfast and lunch. Get in early as they only serve their satisfying breakfast until 11. The food was fresh, fast and delicious. Keep in mind they close by 2 even on the weekends.

I have had their breakfast almost all this week it is so good. Looking at the place you may think oh this an older place that’s what I thought and so I never tried it but they have really good food and the prices you can’t beat it for him much food you get. Great Quality and Quantity!!!!

Great price, very friendly, clean all around. But upset that this was my first time coming here and no employees including the kitchen staff were wearing masks. I saw 2 cooks within 2ft from each other talking and packaging a hamburger. Here I come walking in wearing my mask protecting myself, while others are not watching out for me. I personally won’t be coming back till this Covid is over. Sad to see that people are still NOT using common sense to protect each other.
Decent Food. Atmosphere was special in the sense that it was southern blue collar acletic. Think Nascar and Duck Dynasty. Very Friendly staff for the most part. The place is just older and drowned in the business of the decor and is more of a daily local spot for an ok repeat bite than a fantastic cuisine breakthrough.

Very disappointed 😔 ...I have been ordering from here through DoorDash, multiple times, and decided today to call in my order for take-out, since I was out and about running errands... They have really good prices and very tasty food BUT when I went in to pick up my order, none of the staff were wearing masks 😷... Say what you want whether Covid is a hoax or real, but I ask, what’s the difference if you were to walk into a restaurant that has roaches or rats running around? Most people would think that’s gross and know that would be against the health and safety of the public. Now think about an invisible virus 🦠 being spread through droplets...I would rather not encounter either scenario...so sadly I won’t be ordering from here anymore until they decide to take the health and safety of the public seriously...
COVID breeding ground.Good food but does not follow COVID precautions at all. I enter this store somewhat regularly for deliveries and while the staff have always been kind to me, the restaurant has always been extremely packed with no masks on anyone. Im usually extremely uncomfortable coming in there. I know its an incredibly tough time for restaurants right now, but an attempt should be made to take this situation seriously instead of the strange game of russian roulette I feel that I play when I come inside.
I love this place! For my summer internship my friends and I eat here each morning. Food is great! Place feels very homey and everyone is so kind. Great atmosphere 😄

This is my Go To breakfast spot! Its small, the dining area is at 50%.The breakfast menu is pretty standard BUT... their own special dish... The Breakfast Bowl & Super Bowl! Everything you need for breakfast served in a bowl! Service is great, breakfast served until 11:00 and theyre open for lunch too.

The food is great and they have the awesome crushed ice. The atmosphere is friendly and laid back. The cooks are fast and the food is tasty. The waitresses are friendly and make sure you have everything. Amazing place. The waitresses all help everyone so you can ask any of them for anything. I had Amber, Flor, and Antia today...they are wonderful and a great team.
Probably the best restaurant in the candlerish area. Best breakfasts and you get soooooo much food for the price. The country fried steak is the best with the white gravy I get cravings for it sometimes

Its a good little diner! Seats 20 people on the regular basis. Half of the tables are currently closed for the quarentine. Good flavor 👌. Ample portions available at a good price.

I dont usually give a small breakfast/lunch diner a 5 star rating, but this place is awesome. Good food. Super fast service & they actually have some Vegan options! This is going to be our new breakfast out together place.I had the Skinny Bear & hubby had the Papa Bear. Awesome country, diner breaskfast. Everything is what you would expect from this small, passable restaurant.When you go in and see old, farmers and country folk eating in an establishment, you know you have to sit down and eat. The sausage gravy and flaky biscuits are great and the over medium eggs were perfectly cooked. I would have like thicker cuts of bologna and more seasoned home fries.Overall a great experience... definitely will try lunch.
This place is awesome!!! We got there as they were closing and they brought us in anyway and I am so glad they did. One if the best cheeseburgers I have had in a while and the chicken, bacon, ranch sandwich my wife had was out of this world!! Definitely will eat there again next time were up that way!!

Crazy affordable and delicious diner food! This is my #1 favorite spot for a diner-style breakfast. They also serve lunch but they close in the early afternoon (no dinner service.)
Good place for a quick breakfast. Homey atmosphere. And they expressed surprise when this desert rat asked how to eat the grits. With a spoon they answered!

The Hungry Bear Cafe is everything youd expect from a small country diner. Good food, friendly service and an Americana type feel to it. This reminds me of how America used to be like when I was a kid. Memorable good time w/ my daughter. Will be coming here again. Thanks Hungry Bear Cafe!
Portions large & tasty. Despatraetly needs updating and husband had to go up to counter to pay check as no one ever came back over after food was delivered. Seemed like more of a locals place where they know how things are done.

We were returning from a vacation in Tennessee and the tire pressure indicator illuminated. So I pulled of at the next exit. Sure enough my expert diagnosis was a tire going down. We proceeded to the Chevrolet dealership in town a got the news that the hole was in the sidewall. While waiting for a set of brand new shoes for the wifes Rav4 (it was due), we decided to grab some lunch. This quaint place was located just next door so for convenience sake we decided to give it a try. We are so glad we did. Nice little local diner. Food was very good, but the people are great. This is the kind of place where you pick up the vibe of the whole community. Everyone that came in was treated as old friends. Highly recommend.
The biscuits was hard not hot and soft. Didnt get a refill of coffee. Gravy was not hot enough. Asked for eggs scrambled well done they were still runny.
I came in after the breakfast cut off time (1 1/2hrs) and asked if someone could suggest a place that might still be serving breakfast. Instead of making suggestions I was offered breakfast with a couple of menu item exceptions. The meal was served quickly and with a smile and was delicious. Just what I needed. As the tiny spot filled there were regulars and out of towners and as their meals passed by each looked and smelled great and the portions were generous. I like to support local non-chain businesses and this one certainly is that
Reasonably priced, decent portions, decent food and a friendly wait staff.Now a couple of suggestions. Since the bread is off the shelf quality, I buttering with melted butter should be offered. Otherwise the butter doesnt melt.Also soft-boiled eggs are foreign to them.
UPDATE: after eating here a few times I find the food to be a little bland. From the freezer to the fryer to your plate. Though the service seems constantly good.I went in for the first time on a Wednesday around 12:50 p.m. there were a few tables to sit the staff greeted me as I came in and they were quick to take my drink order gave me a little time and then took my food order I got the ribeye sandwich and it was straightforward nothing more or nothing less then a thin piece of ribeye steak on a sandwich. The steak was tender and cook just right for the sandwich. My girlfriend and I tend to go to The Waffle House on Saturdays so I would like to maybe give this place a few more tries and try some of their breakfast items. While I am very satisfied with my meal it wasnt something that stood out to me but the overall experience was good.

Excellent service, great food. Three of us came here on Christmas Eve within an hour of closing and the place was mostly full, (1 person got breaded chicken fingers they were very good, another got the Philly cheesesteak(they are from near philly) said it was very good, and I got the ribeye steak also very good!) we did not feel rushed at all, they even gave me coffee to go no extra charge! Next time I am in town I definitely will come back!
