I enjoyed The Chelsea a bit more when it was independent of the Tropicana but its still a good place to stay. The rooms are good size, clean & most have a good view of the boardwalk & ocean. I do wish they still had the parking garage at the Chelsea open instead of having to park at the Tropicana & trek across the casino & sky bridge - its a bit of a hike!

I was supposed to stay in the Chelsea Tower but because of a lot of the reviews I’ve read and since the rooms didn’t look very modern I decided to upgrade to the South Tower.I checked out the Chelsea Tower and it’s great I love that it has its own entrance away from the casino and easy access to pool and beach, that’s why I stayed in south tower so I can just get off at the skywalk and walk over.I think the majority of the problems of the bad reviews is that the rooms in Chelsea haven’t really been renovated but besides that the tower is awesome and location is great. Once they renovate the rooms I think Chelsea Tower will be great. If you want easy access to the beach and pool stay in south tower or Chelsea, if you want to be close to the casino and quarter stay in Havana or West Tower. If you have kids and want to go to the other outdoor pool stay in North Tower.

Pros: Attractive lobby, Close to the Boardwalk and beach, Friendly staff, minutes from the Quarter, Ocean View, comfortable beds. Cons: Out dated furniture, stains on curtains and wall paper, dirty windows, flies and mosquitoes in the room. Bathroom toilet had urine under the seat, shower door and mirror streaked, carpet stained, room smelled stale. This hotel needs a makeover and a good scrubbing. I was able to manage fine for our one night getaway but I would not recommend this hotel nor would I stay here again. The only thing that appeared to be new or updated about this hotel was the Tropicana sign out front.

The Chelsea is a very nice hotel and mid price rage which is hard to find in Atlantic City. The food is great, breakfast is amazing.. If you go here you must try the stuffed french toast! There are 2 pools which is nice so you can choose either a quiet, relaxing pool, or the pool with music and a bar if you want to party. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are clean and upscale. It is also close to the Tropicana which is convenient. I definitely recommend this hotel!

Once we walked by the desk and the lady asked how are we doing we said fine and told her we dont usually complain she said well you doing a good job of it now. so rude. No more free lounge chairs and umbrellas on the beach. $15 for 2 chairs and an umbrella. They cancelled our reservation and so we stayed at The Annex 1 night and The Chelsea the other 2 nights. On a good note, the people that work there are very nice and will work with you when there is a problem. Online booking led us here while trying to room at the Tropicana. It is clear “the Chelsea tower” the recent acquisition by the Trop is still being staffed by the crew that put them out of business in the first place. Booked with friends for a special event and we were supposed to have 2 adjoining rooms with 2 beds each. The customer service rep my wife called on the phone prior to arriving said this would be no problem and wound up without adjoining rooms and the rooms weren’t directly next to each other. The rooms online were listed as fully renovated. Whoever renovated them should be fired. The caulk in the bathroom was black in certain areas. The bathroom shelving was hipped to the point that the cheap “wood” it was made of was showing. The rooms just look out dated and dingy at best. This trip was a huge disappointment and we will never stay at the Tropicana again.

The Chelsea used to be a beautiful hotel with two pools that was perfect walking distance from the boardwalk one of the only hotels without a casino in Atlantic City. So beautiful and amazing. The staff were always so friendly.then, this past year in 2017 Tropicana bought The Chelsea. I thought it was gonna be great since I’ve heard the Tropicana was also a great hotel. Wrong. The pools that were great at the Chelsea have now been changed. The rooftop pool is now 21+ only and the first floor salt water pool next to the restaurant is only open on the weekends. Tropicana also has the worst staff that are so rude. Tropicana, you ruined my favorite hotel in Atlantic City.

Went for the 2018 Air Show, got a reservation for the $35 price fixed lunch. Had a great server, Bob and another gentleman who kept my water glass and iced tea filled.Great location with spectacular views of the show thru very tall windows. Food was terrific, I had the Chelsea burger that was cooked to perfection and tasted delicious. When I was originally seated, I asked the host if we were permitted to stay the length of the show and he said yes... I felt bad because at a certain point after I finished my lunch, I was just sucking up iced teas and told the server, Bob, that I would be adding an additional $20 to the bill for his tip... Soon after I sat there for more than an hour with two empty glasses and no one even attempting to refill them... I asked for the check and notices that there was an alcoholic drink added to my check that I hadnt ordered and called for the server... It was taken off, but the tip was also reduced for the lack of service and the added item to the bill.... Nice experience up till then... But likely will not return unless contacted by management

We were fine with 5 minutes until we realized an hour has passed by and were still sitting in the waiting area. When we got to the room, the room was filthy! There was dust on the side tables, the TV table and the carpet was old and dirty and had fibers coming out of it. The bathroom flush has piss stains on it. This was by far the worst experience we had in a hotel. The property is worth a 2-star property and fifty dollars a night, not two hundred fifty. The staff is utterly rude, they act as if you are in their way, they are dismissive and unapologetic about the conditions and environment in the hotel. The front desk employee at the spa was inefficient, slow and once she was able to get to us, she was rude to us. The staff at the diner wasnt any better, slamming the menus on the table when we seated.... Overall poor customer service. Aside from the spa jacuzzi being too busy for us to use the amenities, the fifth floor lounge and restaurant were also closed due to a wedding, we paid $350.00 for a one night stay and were unable to use the amenities that were advertised. Very disappointing! One would think that due to the environment in Atlantic City, the employees would want to keep their jobs instead of discouraging people from staging with them again. Some people need to be reminded of what their industry represents, and not make guests feel like they are being a nuisance.

Sure enough there was evident water damage all around on the ceiling and walls and the floors were damp. Next our AC wasnt working. We asked for a different room but were told no and that they were at full capacity. The AC did get fixed but not until much later that night. When I told the front desk of our problems at check out, they acted like they could care less and unfortunately I feel like nothing will get done about the poor state of our room. This hotel is the epitome of why AC is failing, over priced crap being pawned off as luxury. We could have had a nice stay if the walls werent paper thin. We literally know what the people in the room next to us ordered for breakfast. Those same lovely neighbors only slept for 3 hours which we also know because they kept us awake with screaming and normal conversation that sounded like they were in our room. We paid $250 for an ocean front room. This also included parking and a $20 credit for breakfast. The irony is this package is called rise, shine, and relax.... I am not shining or relaxing after that stay. They credited back the $20 for the breakfast since we needed to go home and sleep. We were told that maybe if we come back we could get a room upgrade or something. Do the room upgrades come with insulated walls? Unfortunately, I dont think well be back to find out. I am giving 2 stars because the staff was pleasant and the pillows were great.

Stayed at the Chelsea for the first time. From reading past reviews I had read that this hotel was more motel like than hotel. I booked this hotel using an Express deal on Expedia. I got the Tropicana with a room at the Chelsea since it is now owned by Tropicana. As soon as I checked in I was upgraded to a oceanfront room. There is no skyway connecting the Tropicana to Chelsea so you have to go outside and cross the street to get to the hotel. Hotel is a little outdated but still very clean and presentable. The room was big and very clean. The window facing the ocean was a small window but it was still a nice view. It did have a big side window facing the Tropicana which was nice. Pretty neat place to stay. Now that its part of Tropicana makes it nice. If youve stayed in a room in the south tower at Tropicana, you know what to expect. But the rooms are actually clean, and seem to be renovated somewhat recently. Only problem is they seem to have jumped the gun and maybe should have waited until the sky bridge was put in. Theres also an outdoor pool. The only way to park near there is valet or one of the other lots where its 5 or 10 dollars for 8 hrs. You can always park at Tropicana, but youll have to walk. However, its just a 5 minute walk anyways.

This hotel was bought by the Tropicana in October of 2017 and you can access the Tropicana casino by a bridge. This hotel has been upgraded and has alot of modern and new amenitites including the Whiskey bar, 21+ salt water pool and a new restaurant. You are steps from the Beach. There are two cautions to have a great experience. One this Hotel is designed for Adults, so if you have Children, this is not the place for you. Two if you stay on the Tropicana facing side the rooms on that side overlook the Days Inn, so you can see people out on the balconies there. The bed was heavenly, the room had an art deco feel and I awoke looking out at the Ocean, the room was quiet no outside noise could be heard.Parking tips: You can Valet at the Chelsea or Tropicana, the Valet at the Chelsea will bring your car over from the Tropicana garages. If you self- park do so at the Chelsea because you will have to walk over to the Tropicana garages. Getting out of the Chelsea garage is quick and easy which is an advantage over parking at the Tropicana where you can wait an hour to leave after you get into your car in the valet queue line waiting to exit.I will stay at the Chelsea again and will recommend to friends and family.

Upon checkout, even the woman at the check out desk could not tell me the easiest way to get to the Tropicana Parking Garage from inside the Chelsea. The Chelsea 5 restaurant was decent; food was above average and priced appropriately; ambiance is nice but likely to be dated quickly; the view however, is not pleasing... Like staying at a room the the budget motel! Very disappointed the the appearance, the smell, and the price for the room. Not to mention I had to continually adjust the water in the shower to keep it the same temperature! Poor lighting throughout made it very hard to get ready and the only space with good lighting had no outlet near or was behind the bathroom door. We also requested ocean front and got a room that had a 2x3 window in the corner that was ocean view. Really. ps... $25 worth of additional fees for being a tourist on top of the $10 advertised for valet parking is a slap in the face on the way out after an already disappointing stay. Especially when you wanted to self park but there was no suitable space within the hotel that wasnt valet. Will never come back here! Not one time did anyone ask how our stay was. They probably wouldnt have liked my response though. Dont waste your money here. Go somewhere nicer thats worth the cost of $300/night

The rooms are pretty cool, I appreciated the cotton sheets and fluffy pillows. BUT, we went down during the week and arrived at 7pm to find it dead. The salt water pools, for which I had chosen the hotel were already closed. I had planned on mixing work with relaxation and found that the promised internet connection did not work in the rooms, about which I had asked prior to booking. The lobby was full of complaining people so I had to wait about 2 hours to switch to a room, for which they charged me extra, that had wireless access. Oh, and the TV stations that it promises are 3 stations that run exercise programs and infomercials. Other than that the staff was nice, the place looks awesome to hang out in if there were crowds, which is not the case on weekdays. Definitely not a family-oriented place. They also say the pools are included, but upon registering, I found out that there was an extra charge for those as well.
