This bookstore is hands down my favorite store ever. I live in Birmingham, but every time I come to Auburn I always plan in at least one visit to Auburn Oil. Their staff is amazing and friendly, they have cards with handwritten reviews on the shelves, they have an ever-rotating staff favorites section, and an incredibly well-organized store. One of my favorite parts is that even if I go in the store multiple times within a month, theres something new every time. The kids section is wonderful too! One of my favorite activities both before and during the pandemic is to get a Rick Bragg coffee and peruse the store. If only they would open a second store in Birmingham!

Great store. Wide selection of books (including for middle school!) And the coffee drink I had was fantastic, not too sweet. Oh, and they have lemonade drinks that the kids really liked. Great service, too!

UNBELIEVABLE!!!! This store is nothing short of AMAZING. Yesterday I decided to treat myself to some new books. With a Pandemic happening around us it’s easier to just order a book online without needing to contact anyone else BUT I’m grateful I didn’t go about it this way. I messaged the online store about the “blind date” book program that they do (you should look into, it’s cute and a great way to find a new book BASED off of what you love rather than judging it by its cover....get it?) and surprisingly enough I was actually talking to a real life current worker! When I tell you that I have never once been spoken to in a bookstore much less asked for a suggestion (everyone has different taste, and I’m a little picky at times) I’m not lying. Katie (a ray of happiness and a great personality) not only gave me the information I asked for but then continues to give me suggestions, update me on new books to try, offer curbside services or porch drop offs AND thought of another book after hours and sent me an email with it( after I didn’t find a book Style that I was looking for, and the new book was a combination of genres I love!). Today I feel like I not only found 5 AMAZING books, but I was able to support a local business with and amazing staff that’s willing to go above and beyond. I was even greeted with smiles and the same enthusiasm from those that I picked my bag of goodies up from( didn’t catch their names but just as sweet and attentive!)In Summary, a huge shoutout to Katie for making me feel special and taking such good care of me, as well as the other store workers! For those that seek this place out in Auburn, you will NOT be disappointed! This town needed a good hearted bookstore like this one and we need to support our local businesses!!! Go give my girl Katie some love!

Very friendly and helpful staff! I ordered books they didnt have in stock (older, niche books), and they had them sent to the store for pickup. This store captures the Auburn spirit. Im looking forward to coming back!Masks required currently.Edit: Have since returned and picked up some new reads!

This is one of the best bookstores I’ve ever been to. The staff is friendly, helpful and engaging, the selection of books is incredible, the items for sale are fantastic with fair prices and their food/coffee is delicious. Even if you aren’t an avid reader, it has something for everyone. A true treasure.

Somehow I just discovered this place today! It’s absolutely lovely and they have such a wonderful selection of books. Can’t wait to grab a coffee next time!

Can’t say enough great things about this Auburn over-the-top bookstore! Tyra and Alissa were friendly, kind, enthusiastic and informative! Tyra suggested THE VANISHING HALF by Brit Bennett and it is one of my favorites for 2020! The staff also have index cards by their favorite books describing them with finesse similiar to my favorite bookstores in San Francisco and Pawlyes Island.Auburn Oil Co. Booksellers is hip, invigorating and enticing you back for more. They sell wines paired with their books (great GF gifts) and freshly baked cookies. They cover all genres and are well stocked! Just wished I lived closer so I could browse weekly! 😊💪❤️

It’s an extremely well-curated bookstore with a knowledgeable staff. Their recommendations—both in person and through the note cards scattered throughout the store under selected titles—have never steered me wrong.

This place is EXACTLY what Auburn needed! Everyone at the bookstore is super helpful and kind, the coffee is amazing, and the store offers something for everyone. Big fan!
