We have been using Calvins for all of our jewelry needs for many years. Weve had things restyled, repaired, appraised, etc. and have always had a wonderful experience. Having said that, despite our enjoyable relationship with them, going in to help our out of town son find just the right ring to give to the perfect girl gave me more than a little pause. I called and asked if someone would have a little time one afternoon to visit with me regarding the selection of an engagement ring. Ashley said that shed be delighted to help and that I could come in at my convenience. I showed up a little later and met this beautiful woman who I would later learn had to be my fairy godmother! She took me to a more private area of the store and began asking questions about my son and his lovely intended. We discussed a number of possibilities, and she educated me a great deal about the possible settings. Finally, we decided on a path. Thats where her true magic began to reveal itself, she went to work finding the best stone, optimal setting, etc. Oh, did I mention that we had a fairly serious time crunch? Despite all involved telling us that we couldnt get it in time, Ashley assured us that she would get involved and make it happen. Our AMAZING, 2.6 carat, internally flawless emerald cut solitaire arrived two days early! We have always loved this store, but our experience with Ashley was so special and we thank her from the bottom of our hearts!

When shopping around for an engagement ring, we went to about a dozen places. The last place we went was Calvin’s. No where else explained the 4 C’s of the diamonds to us. The service we received was not matched by any other store. Alex was incredible in explaining everything and taking notes to ensure my fiancée gets exactly what she wanted. Since we were getting a custom ring, we had mock ups sent to make sure they met all of our desires. The turn around time was much faster than expected, and it was a faster timeline than other places told us. It was so fast that I had the ring for weeks before I planned to propose. When we get our bands, we will almost certainly be returning to Calvin’s.

While shopping for an engagement ring, I first visited another jewelry store in downtown Austin. There was nothing in particular not to like about the store, but it wasnt anything special. The downtown store did have exactly the type of ring I wanted to buy, though. I wanted to try at least one other store before I made my purchase, and that led me to Calvins. Luckily, I met Calvin Jr. that day. I was immediately at ease with his welcoming and down to earth personality. The only problem was, he didnt have that perfect ring that I had found previously at the downtown store. However, he offered to custom make the exact ring that I wanted at a competitive price. Also, I was in a time crunch to meet the date I wanted to propose to my fiancée, and he offered to do all of that AND get it in time for my deadline. I was honestly shocked at this amazing level of service. I really dont think Ive seen that level of service before. The ring turned out GREAT, and even better than the ring from the other downtown store. I cannot say enough about how much I would recommend Calvins to anyone looking for jewelry. They have proven that will go above and beyond for their customers. Thank you Calvins!!

My boyfriend and I went in to shop for an engagement ring. Ashley texted me before the appointment to bring in diamonds in the size and shape that I was looking for. I went into Calvin’s after a friend recommended them to me. I wanted to have a custom engagement ring made using some diamonds that were gifted to me from family. My partner and I are Austin natives and it was important to us to have a local jeweler. I started looking at jewelers in February of 2020, right before the pandemic hit and locked everything down. It was such a shock and caused me some anxiety since I didnt know if I was going to be able to get my lady the ring of her dreams under those conditions. I fessed up to my partner that I had gone ring shopping and she said she wanted to come along, in order to try on rings herself.Ashley from Calvins was so great about everything and so easy to coordinate with. I purchased jewelry from Calvin’s many year ago, including, about a one carat round diamond pendant, brilliant cut with beautiful sparkle! I decided to remove it from the bezel setting and into a traditional basket with new chain. The exceptional service from 1998 through today still exist! My girlfriend and I started the process of shopping for an engagement ring several months ago with no clue where to start, what to look for in a diamond, etc. We were flying blind. We went to 4 jewelry stores that had great Google reviews (5 stars), but Calvins was the only one that lived up to their reviews. No other jewelers took the time to walk us through what to look for in a diamond, the give-and-take of clarity and color and how it affects price, etc. and all were very nonchalant in their approach to helping us and just didnt seem to care that much. Calvins was totally different. Calvin Jr. (the owners son) helped us through every step of finding the right ring. On our first visit he took over an hour to educate us on everything we needed to know about diamonds and rings. When it became apparent that the ring we wanted wasnt in store or something wed ever find off the shelf, Calvin Jr. walked us through what the process would be like to design and have a ring custom made. I wasnt quite ready to start the process of buying a ring right then and there, and Calvin totally understood, gave me his number, and told me to reach out when I was ready; truly a no pressure situation (which was important for me since it was my first big jewelry purchase). Fast forward about a month and I let Calvin know it was time to get the ball rolling towards finding the right stone for the ring and getting the design ironed out. From there, Calvin set out on a two week long hunt for the right diamond for our dream ring. Once he found it, I gave him the design of what my fiancé wanted in a ring and he turned it into a reality! He went above and beyond to get us exactly what we wanted. The quality of the ring is second to none, Calvin found a stone that fit into my budget perfectly, and I couldnt have asked for a better experience from a jewelry store or engagement ring buying process. Id like to preface this review with the statement that this is a follow-up post. I visited Calvins a couple months back by myself to try on engagement rings. My boyfriend (now fiance) lives in Germany and wanted me to try on rings so he knew what style I liked. I was tentative about going in, but had the most incredible experience with Calvin Jr. The quality of the rings for the price is amazing. I told them Id be back, with my now fiance, in December to buy the ring, and we did just that. We went in on a Tuesday and bought the ring. The staff was very welcoming and helpful. We chose this beauty, and Jackie (Calvins mom) gave us a great discount (to stay within our budget) and told us they could have it to us within a week or so. 1.5 days later Calvin Jr. called himself to tell me they had my ring ready! I have never been so happy with an overall experience, let alone the ring itself. Its my dream ring, but didnt cost an absolute fortune. I cannot say enough good things about the store, the staff, and the jewelry. I will be recommending Calvins to anyone looking for jewelry!

I am thrilled with my experience at Calvin’s Fine Jewelry! My fiancé bought my custom ring from another jeweler out of state, but unfortunately the ring was a full size too small so the jeweler reached out to Calvin’s to have my ring resized. I was super nervous about resizing my ring because my finger was still swollen from shoving the small ring on my finger, but Calvin and Calvin JR assured me they knew what size it would need to be. The ring fits perfect and they had it done in less than an hour! My fiancé and I will definitely be purchasing our wedding bands from Calvin’s after the amazing customer service we experienced.

We went to Calvins for both my engagement ring and both of our wedding bands. We had such a wonderful experience from the moment we walked in the door. Ashley in particular went above and beyond. I have never felt comfortable walking into a jewelry store until I walked into Calvins. Their staff is truly top-notch. Their pieces are classy and diverse but absolutley nothing tacky and they do not use any pushy sales or up-sell tactics at all. Fantastic jeweler in Austin. We moved here a year ago and had to find wedding bands for myself and my husband. We knew we wanted to see styles and pick them out in person so we wanted someone local and used a different jeweler for my engagement ring. My GF and i visited Calvins when we first started ring shopping. Calvin Jr. took care of us and very quickly navigated our picky ring preferences to bring this beauty out of the back. We immediately fell in love with this one, but entertained the idea of looking at multiple jewelry stores to keep our options open. After each new store we tried, we always agreed that Calvins was still the one. Even after our first visit, Calvin Jr. continued to keep in simple contact and offered extremely flexible assistance.When i was ready to purchase the ring, they had it sized and re-set by next day, which was done by Calvin Sr. himself. This is very much a family run business, which only sweetens the deal. Summer 2018 was always my intended time to propose, but finding this ring/Calvins has encouraged me to pop the question this November. I cant say enough good things about this place.

I definitely shouldve listened to her advice the first time and gotten a smaller size, but when I went in the 2nd time for another resize she was super nice and helped me out again. It was very clear that all he cared about was making sure we got exactly what we wanted. My girlfriend and I are both super indecisive. He sat with us for almost 2 hours one Saturday to talk through all the options we were looking at for the diamond and setting. We checked out another jewelry store and it felt like they were quick to rush us out. They didnt even bother following up after our visit. Calvin constantly checked in with me. and communication was never an issue. He would respond at any time of the day. Overall, it was a great customer and buying experience. HIGHLY recommended.

My husband ordered it and shortly after, the design company closed in Los Angeles due to COVID. What an Amazing experience! I could not be happier with the service and the ring itself. I shopped around for over a month and even put money down on a ring somewhere else before I talked to Calvin Jr and it was night and day difference from all the other places. No pressure they just honestly wanted you to be happy with what you get.Out of all the places I went, Calvin’s was the first place that made me excited about what I was getting. Every other place was nice at first then shifted to wanting you to pick something so they could move on to the next. I explained to Calvin Jr exactly what I wanted, and they found they exact diamond for less than I found online and made the ring with all the very specific request I had. Not that it mattered at the time, but they were also much less expensive than the other rings that only had bits and pieces of what I wanted. I am not a customer for life but so is my fiancé (she said yes).I don’t really write reviews, but this was one case I wanted give credit where it was due. For me this this was a huge purchase and after working with Calvin Jr I have no questions or regrets at all.
