Had an amazing experience learning open water scuba with Master Scuba Diver Trainer Instructor Ashley from Dive World. She did such an excellent job teaching us. She is competent, knowledgeable, and fun. I was nervous at first but she did such a wonderful job at easing my fears. Dive Master Carl was also great at ensuring our safety while diving at Windy Pointe. I feel confident in scuba now, due to their amazing teaching abilities. Would recommend anyone to learn scuba through Dive World Austin...and be sure to request Ashley as your teacher. She’s the best!!!
My experience with Dive World Austin was amazing! The rep (sorry, cant remember your name) assisted me with getting fitted with mask, boots, and fins and was very helpful to ensure I was getting gear that was the best fit for me. My dive instructor, John Redmon, did a great job during the next few days to ensure I was properly trained but also ensured I had a great reintroduction to diving. Each day I gained more confidence with wearing/using the gear and became more relaxed underwater. I highly recommend Dive World Austin and my instructor, John Redmon, for gear and profession dive instruction. Ill be back for more dive gear and instruction for continued education/certifications soon!
In my beginning scuba journey Dive World has been amazingly helpful and knowledgeable. The open water scuba class was so much fun and the instructor Ashley was absolutely incredible in creating a very entertaining and educational experience. Divemaster Carl was also highlight in the overall experience.
I called this store a few days before our trip to mexico looking for fins that would match my current mask and snorkel 🤿Thankfully they carried the same brand (Tusa) and in my size and color to match (metallic red).I found short booties for my fins, a shortie (I got a medium being that I normally wear a small but have a longer torso) and a dive bag to hold all my new goodies. They were so helpful, from the phone to in store experience. They explained differences between fins and equipment and were helpful in letting us know how everything should fit once we tried it on.Mexico here we come!!!
My husband, my 14 and 12 yr olds, and myself just got open water certified through Dive World Austin. They were willing to work with our family plus a large group of friends and they did a phenomenal job. The Dive Instructors and Dive Masters are professional, friendly, positive, organized and encouraging. They are thorough and safety conscious - great with adults and kids. I would highly recommend this dive shop for any training. The owners are fantastic as well.
Hadn’t been to this dive shop in a couple years, honestly didn’t like the owner. Needed a wrist band for my Mares puck computer, so decided to give them a try. So glad I did. Staff was super helpful. Ashley the manager took my info and found a band for me. Definitely will use them in the future.
Amazing experience from start to certification. My g/f and I recently got open water certified with Dive World Austin. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience. The staff was great and our instructor John was awesome! He made us feel very comfortable and provided a lot of knowledge that didn’t end with scuba. We’re going on a trip to St. Thomas in a few weeks and he was cool enough to give us some pro tips from his experience living on the island which was a big deal given we like to stay off the touristy path. Back to scuba though; it was an awesome experience and I’d highly recommend using Dive World Austin if you’re planning on getting your certification. Ask for John R.
Dive World Austin more than met my expectations -- they well exceeded them! From working with Seth to get myself and my son in an open water class; to going in the shop and receiving fantastic knowledge and help in choosing proper gear; to actually working with our instructor, John, everything about this was a 5 star experience. Everyone we interacted with was genuinely interested in giving us a great first experience with diving. Definitely recommend!
We booked the 3 person (private) open water scuba PADI certification. From the beginning, Seth and his staff were simply amazing! They worked around our schedules as the 3 of us being small business owners have crazy busy schedules and small time frames available.Seth lined us up with Nick, our Instructor.Hands down the ultimate best experience to kick start our adventures that we are so very excited to book.Nick was very clear, extremely patient, calm, and is a kick @#! Instructor.Everything went extremely smooth and on time.I will make sure to tell everyone to request Nick( if possible ) and book with Dive World Austin!!!!Also wanted to say, glad they chose Windy Point as the easy access in and out of the water, close parking, friendly staff, and scuba friendly to say the least. Thanks again to Seth, his team, and especially Scuba Nick ad hes saved in my phone.Hope to see yall out there soon!
Five+ Stars and more would be how I described my experience at Dive World Austin. A truly amazing experience and one I cannot recommend enough. The whole team is amazing, from the owners Seth and Tracy to the in-depth knowledge of their in-store team and Dive instructors Britany, Ashley, John, and more.Just for the record, Im a big wooss and pretty anxious in open water, purely because I have a vivid imagination and have watched Jaws too often. But not only did John do a fantastic job reassuring and orientating me in the water, but he also knew that after practice, Id do great. His elegance and tranquility in the water were also infectious; he should star in the next Aquaman movie. My husband and I cannot thank the team enough; we are now Open Water Certified and cant wait till our next dive adventure.
Ashley at Dive World Austin did the impossible and helped me conquer my fear of diving. She had endless patience and encouragement. Honestly, I couldnt have imagined a better experience. Will recommend Dive World Austin and Ashley to anyone I come across in the future.
I certified for OW course last week with our amazing instructor John and a fantastic group of peers. It was such a great experience and I cant wait to start my AOW course with Dive World Austin in Oct!
Amazing staff and instructors who are very easy to talk to. Great way to make new friends and build your skillset. Highly recommend taking EFR and O2 provider in addition to your open water courses if you can
I cannot recommend Dive World Austin enough to anyone wanting to get Scuba certified or quite frankly have and Scuba needs. From the first interaction on the phone with Brittany to meeting the owners Seth and Tracy Wallace to picking out our gear with Ashley in the store- we felt well taken care of and were so impressed with the knowledge of everyone. As my 15 year old daughter, myself and my partner went through the Open Water certification with the incredible instructors- Chris and Michelle--it was amazing. They were so patient and knowledgeable and took great care with each of us in the pool and then in Lake Travis for our open water dives. Way to go Dive World Austin! We cant wait to go diving soon with you! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
I got open water certified here and my instructor Mark was super helpful and patient while the class was learning the new skills. The shop was also super helpful in picking out which gear would be best for me. I highly recommend getting certified here.
This place is awesome for diving and spearfishing gear. The staff were all super friendly. I just did my open water certification through them and honestly had a great experience with John and Divemaster Dan. Went from 0 scuba experience to feeling comfortable at 60ft in just 4 sessions. Highly recommend!
Im writing this review on behalf of my husband....If you are looking for a dive shop in Central Texas, Dive World Austin is it!!! The staff was amazing, helpful, and very knowledgeable. We took our older dive computers in to be looked at, and they were able to repair them. We drove over 2hrs so I could take the Open Water Course, to be able to dive with my wife. My instructor was Ashley and our dive master was Carl. They were awesome!! We had so much fun, they kept the class interesting and entertaining, it didnt feel like I was in a class. I highly recommend Dive World Austin! On behalf of myself, I got to experience my husbands lake dive with his class. Afterwards I told him, I was so jealous of his group and instructors. We will be signing up for the Advance Open Water next.#KeepAustinDiving
I needed to renew my scuba certification. I took the ReActivate course. Jesse, the instructor, was great and highly qualified. He clearly explained each skill and activity. He shared his own experiences to support the course content and required skills. I really appreciate the time and patience he showed with each student. Excellent experience!
Ashley Carter was an Amazing instuctor! I felt confident it my ability to dive safely after her class! She helped me understand how to dive and have fun!
I got my Padi Rescue here. I was looking for people taking their jobs seriously and here I found them. Ive been in other shops in USA which they dont worth to consider for nothing so I feel happy this time for choosing Dive World.
My family of four took an excellent Nitrox class with Brittany. She is extremely knowledgeable, upbeat, clear, and able to teach to all levels - a very gifted teacher. The shop was supportive and friendly and accommodating when weather changed our plans.
Recently got my AOW here, and the instructor and DM was amazing!
People working here are so sweet! Thanks for helping me get fitted for a mask!! I can’t wait to get certified and start becoming a regular!! :)
Being an anxious 59 year old student, I opted to take private instruction from Ashley Carter, manager at Dive World Austin. We hit it off right from the start. She was not only patient and extremely encouraging but she took extra time to explain and reiterate each technique and skill so I thoroughly understood and was comfortable with each concept. I was also inspired by her elegance and grace underwater during our dives and compare her clear delivery of hand signals to that of a symphony conductor. She’s definitely in her element underwater. We also had lots of fun with underwater dances to celebrate when I mastered a skill. I would highly recommend Ashley, not only for her professionalism, teaching style and fun personality, but for her vast diving experience. It was an incredible experience from start to finish!
Not a huge fan of their selection, prices are decent. I did walk in without a mask on and the young guy behind the counter asked me to put a mask on, so I adhered. Then another coworker was right at the counter talking to him without a mask on. I asked So I have to wear a mask but she doesnt? The guy said I work with her every day, 7 days a week. If one of us have Covid, the other is going to get it so it doesnt matter.I guess my health doesnt matter either. Thats why we wear the masks, right? To protect others from ourselves. Very rude. Ill stick with my business at Scubaland.
I whole heartedly recommend DIVE WORLD AUSTIN for all your dive needs. I needed to upgrade my certification and it has been more than a year since my last dive and scuba certification. I was anxious and nervous but John made me feel at home in the water again!I have anxiety and was worried I would freak out under water but we took it slow and he was very patient with me. The class was small and it was great. Give them a call or go check them out. Thanks again Dive world Austin and John and Nate!!
We recently completed our scuba certification with private lessons from Ashley Carter, and it was truly an incredible experience. Ashley was a wonderful instructor and her knowledge of and passion for the sport of diving was amazing. She was very thorough, made certain we understood and successfully completed all of the required skills to enjoy safe diving. Best of all, she is hilariously funny and made this entire experience so much fun. I would highly recommend taking scuba lessons from her.
Instructors and staff are great, very knowledgeable, and did a wonderful job at making the class a fun and inviting experience.
Obtained my Open Water Certification here.Really nice experience! People and instructors are very attentive!
A shop that completely turned my dive and day around.I left my mask in Houston before a dive, so i borrowed a mask on Saturday. During the course of that dive I lost the mask I borrowed. 😂😂I was really down in the dump so as Faye has it I stopped into “dive shop Austin” to purchase a replacement mask. The young lady that helped me was very kind and help to calm my mood. After I purchased the replacement mask, I was pulling out, a gentleman came running out asking if I had lost a make at the lake, YES!!!!!! 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾 It was the mask I borrowed.DSA offer to refund the mask I bought as a replacement. After this ordeal I keep that great cressi mask I purchased as a back up. I can’t say enough great things, it was a blessing and end to a hard day. It made my Sunday Dive go excellent I was on cloud 9 all day. All this to say DIVE Shop Austin, thank you so much for everything, anyone ask about Austin I will tell them to stop in your shop!!!! Excellent. Quad-doople KUDOS!!!! 🤿 🤿🤿🤿🤿🤿🤿🤿
Best staff and service. The store has everything youd need
I took a recertification class a few weeks ago at Dive World Austin. Jesse was the instructor. It had been several years since those of us in the class had been diving. Jesse did a great job getting everyone reoriented to SCUBA and helping everyone get their comfort level back. He was patient, thorough, paid attention to detail and had a great attitude which really helped with knocking some major cobwebs off of the required underwater skills. All in all, a great experience.
Absolutely awesome dive shop! Everyone there was nice, very informative and helpful!
The staff always take the time to get you the right items no matter how small. They take the time to actually listen and really understand YOUR individual needs. The management team Brittany and Ashley are second to none. The instructor staff always friendly and ready to answer questions. From air fills to equipment service and sales they have you covered.Customer service is 1000%.See ya at the Wednesday evening dives @ Windy Point.
One more shop I have been screwed over by a instructor, Did not get what I paid for.
Just went there to rent a few tanks they were $10.00 a piece for 24hr, the place is not too far from the watter how ever it is not walking distance close I meant in general is in a good location with very friendly people
I rented my equipment and did 3 of the 5 dives for Advanced Open Water course with Nikki and Dive World of Austin. Nikki is an amazing instructor- patient, knowledgeable, and pleasant. The store staff was great. However, it would have been helpful if the guy checking my equipment in was more helpful and courteous Highly recommend!
I just got PADI open water certified through Dive World Austin. The process from start to finish was simply amazing. First of all, the staff at the store is so friendly and patient with you as you begin obtaining your gear. Then, the instructors are great. Though there may be a few others in your class, the instructor made it feel like I was the only student, taking time to demonstrate skills and answers questions. My instructor was Mark and the Dive Master was Jesse - great guys. Very knowledgable. So if you are thinking about getting certified, need to purchase or rent equipment - go see Dive World Austin.
All of the staff are very welcoming and knowledgeable. I had a ton of questions for them and they were able to answer all of them.
My husband and I found Dive World Austin while shopping around for new dive computers to replace our defunct old ones. While shopping for computers I contacted the shop several times and spoke with Ashley (manager) regarding the computers we were interested in.....as time went on, a trip that the dive shop was taking to Roatan, HN was mentioned to us. We decided to take that trip and as we were nervous about taking a trip with complete strangers (aside from speaking to Ashley) our apprehensions completely subsided when we got to Roatan. Dive World Austin is the best dive shop we have ever been with. So much so that just in the few months we have dealt with Dive World, we have taken two classes (Nitrox for my husband and myself) and UW Digital Photographer that I took while in Roatan under the instruction of manager/instructor Ashley! I can not say enough about Dive World Austin. We instantly felt like we were welcome from the first time we walked in the door to family after taking our trip with them to Roatan! From the owners Seth and Traci to the manager Ashley and other members of the shop....everyone is absolutely wonderful! So if youre looking for a different dive shop or a new shop for you, you cant go wrong with Dive World Austin where you will feel like family!
We just moved to Austin, we found dive world they have been fantastic. We took our advanced certification. Then decided to buy our equipment. Ashley completely took care of all our needs, she listened, fitted us into the perfect fit of BCD’s and regulators. She was focused and got us completely taken care of, for two people who hate to shop she was a gift. Thank you Ashley and dive world
Dive World Austin is a great place to go if youve always wanted to learn how to scuba dive. The staff are very helpful, and they all seem happy that you want to discover the world of scuba diving. I took the open water certification course, and it was a great experience. My Dive Instructor, John Redmon, was professional, extremely knowledgeable, an exceptional educator, and most importantly for me, he was fantastic at keeping me calm throughout the process (I can be a bit jumpy!). Once we began the open water dives, I met Divemaster Dan, who was also extremely experienced and knowledgeable which made me feel very safe.We also had some great laughs along the way. Everyone has such a positive vibe at Dive World Austin. What a great experience. Thanks to everyone at Team Dive World Austin!
The owner and staff are knowledgeable, nice, caring advice makes you feel one of the family. They host events to bring divers together as well as put together dive trips to various places. The trips range in price, location, and the time of the year to meet everyone’s goal. The variety of gear and willingness to special order gear for their customers without hesitation. Definitely my first recommendation to everyone concerning scuba diving or looking for places to dive in Texas. Thanks Dive World Austin!
I never write reviews unless Im blown away, and this place blew me away. Great atmosphere, very knowledgeable and friendly employees. I bought my daughter and I full snorkeling gear and plan to return for the scuba diving classes!
Dive World Austin has been an amazing place to help us get back into the world of diving after many years away. The owners and staff are all great! Not only knowledgeable but kind and very helpful. Looking forward to seeing what all they have planned for 2020.
I went to Dive World Austin to check out gear for my family before our snorkeling trip and they were great! Ashley and the rest of the staff first explained how to tell if equipment fits, then tried 4 or 5 options before we found the right ones. Im glad we did this before the trip rather than shuffling through a rental bin and hoping to get stuff that doesnt leak when we are out in the water. We bought equipment for less than the cost to rent for two days through the hotel, and we have personal equipment we can trust. It has been 20 years since my last dive, but I cant wait to bring the family back to get scuba certified for the next trip!
Got my Open Water certification in 2018 with them and just finished my Nitrox certification as well.Nothing but first class service and instruction. Friendly staff and great store (wow I love the redesign)! Plan to get my Advanced certification with them this summer and can’t imagine going to any other shop for all things dive-related as long as we are in Austin. Also seem to have amazing dive trips lined up all the time. Haven’t been on one with them yet but that will likely change soon!Keep up the great work and thanks for everything, y’all!
I found Dive World Austin when I was looking for a shop to complete my Open Water certification. Brittany and Ashley answered all my questions and have continued to be resources anytime I have a question. I have since completed my Advanced and Rescue Diver certs and plan to do more. I also plan to use them for dive travel in the future. Dive World Austin has a great selection of gear. Thanks DWA!
I love this place! Very friendly staff! They answer all your questions and the instructors were great! Can’t wait to take more classes!🤘🏾🤘🏾👍🏾👍🏾
I always have a great experience at Dive World Austin. Ive gotten 4 certifications here over the last year. The instructors are knowledgable and patient, the staff professional, friendly and helpful. 10/10 would recommended getting any certification here.
I am an Open Water scuba-diver from out of Austin I was having lunch in a restaurant nearby when I saw the shop and decided to go in and checkout their wetsuit (time for an upgrade) and maybe see if they do instruction too for my little brother who wants to get PADI certified. But the two employees were very rude and kept following us with their eyes as if something was off although I insisted I just wanted to look around at their equipment before I apologized for coming in to their store and left. The worst experience of my life.
I set up a private lesson for my girlfriend and I...and couldnt have been happier. We opted for the online, which is really convenient and worth the extra it cost, I believe it was $50ish. With our schedules, it was too difficult to try to attend the classes. They worked w/ our schedule and we did our pool sessions in 2 visits, then just finished our open water at Lake Travis (took 2 more sessions). Brittany was the one that explained the online course and did our first session...very friendly gal w/ lots of knowledge. Our instructor for sessions 2(indoor), 3 and 4(Lake Travis) was Patrick Walsh. He was fantastic. Hes a laid back dude, w/ a good sense of humor, but most important, he is VERY PATIENT. We felt very secure with him while getting our certifications completed. He was very attentive and was able to walk us through any and all anxiety we had. I honestly can say, it was a great experience and if I could do it again, I would 100% NOT change a thing. Thanks Dive World for introducing us to SCUBA!!! I can only speak of private lessons, but if anyone wants to get it done quickly and at your pace, I highly recommend private lessons with Dive World Austin!
After 3 separate visits to the shop, I will never return again. The staff seems to always have an attitude and has mislead me when answering my questions regarding tank fills and rentals.I would recommend Toms Dive and Swim any day of the week over Dive World. Save yourself the time and find another shop for your needs.
These guys Rock!!A fantastic dive shop where their focus is on customer/diver satisfaction, not blatant marketing and profit margin. If they dont have it or cant do whatever needs to be done, they will find it or get it done, fast, friendly and reasonably priced. Staff has a good attitude, and wont try to hustle or intimidate an unnecessary sale. The best dive shop in Austin since at least 2006! My highest recommendations.
Very friendly service, knowledgeable and they offer products that are a little more on the specialty end. They are also great for freediving information and equipment.
I had a Discovery Dive to see if Id want to get into SCUBA. I was a little late due to accidents on the road and they were still super welcoming and friendly. The most welcoming thing is that they reiterate time and time again that once in the water, they go at your pace and comfort level, which definitely eased any nerves. Once I picked up some muscle memory, it became a lot of fun and felt comfortable. I will definitely get certified from them knowing how much they seem to care about their students.
I received my open water diver certification thru Dive World Austin and had a great time doing it. Instructor Richie was very knowledgeable and a fantastic instructor.
I am so glad to see this shop under new ownership! The husband and wife couple that own the shop know their trade, truly care about their customers, and are friendly and helpful. This is now my go to shop for all my dive supply! Their general manager, Ashley, is one of the most knowledgeable divers I have ever met. Have a question about dive gear? Assume she will have the answer, even if it is not about something you bought from Dive World.. She is extremely helpful and will answer your questions or get back to you timely if she doesnt know the answer. I purchased all of my wifes dive gear from Ashley, she made me a good deal for good equipment and I have the local support of her and her staff. She called me the day it arrived and couldnt be happier! If you went a few years ago and werent happy with the service, give them another shot under new owners and team. I am sure glad I did!
The employees were nice enough and inviting so I will start off with the positive. They had some good recreational dive gear. The reason for my 2 star review is that both my tanks were under filled by about 500 psi. Its normal to be 100 to 200 psi short once a tank is in the cold weather but not 500 psi short on both tanks. I paid 50 for 2 vis inspections and 2 regular compressed air fills which is a bit higher than the average that I am used to paying. Average vis inspection is about 10 bucks and average regular compressed air fill is about 7 or 8. Even nitrox is usually only 10 dollars. Meaning I over paid for under filled tanks. Also they oiled the threads on the valves so much that it spit oil when I let my reg free flow in open air. I try not to be negative but I will stick to my local SSI shop in the future.
Knowledge,Wisdom.Patience.. The staff is Always informed and ready to answer any question... The staff..Awesome !!!!!Helping me with my needs and and wants is just well wow.. Go by..Thank to John..Darn good instructors and make you laugh to boot..Go see them!!!
Signed my son up for certification class at Dive World. We bought his mask with the stores owner assisting my son, we also bought snorkel, and fins at the same time. We paid full price less the 10% discount for taking class. The equipment seemed good in the store pool class on 1st day (we had just bought the equipment the day before), on second day with the store SCUBA class, he went to the local lake for one of the open water dive classes - the mask leaked very badly all day. My son had to clear it constantly. That evening we took the maks back in to the store as we helped bring in the stores tanks from the class dive, the owner was there and simply said, it has been to the lake, it is used and would not allow a store exchange and was not interested in helping to fix issue. My son owned the mask less than 3 full days a that point and had only used it in class dives (1 day in store pool, 1/2 day in open dives with class.) I will not recommend store purchases to anyone, and will not purchase anything else there. The class and instructor of class were very good. I noticed the store is very busy all the times we were there for class sessions. Customers are buying and having SCUBA tanks filled constantly. Please take caution, if you have trouble you are apparently on your own.
Dive world no longer fills 4500psi carbon fiber tanks. Its a shame as they were one of the few places in Austin that could. Service was great while they did. I always enjoyed speaking with John at the shop.
**This is a follow up from a negative review I posted and it was resolved asap by the new owner, John. The issue I had was with the previous owner (unbeknownst to me until today) and the incident occurred last year. John immediately responded to my review and we worked out the issue promptly. Thats the way to run a business! Thank you John for reaching out to me and completely changing my opinion of the Dive World establishment.
Cheaper than other places, people here are super helpful and knowledgeable! fast an easy to find exactly what you need.
My son and I recently completed an open water dive course via Dive World with Instructor Russ Dubose. Russ did a terrific job at covering the course material, in water scuba skills and open water dives. Most importantly, he patiently worked with each member to ensure that they had it down.
Patient, very experienced team that actually cares about long term relationship with the costumer. and brand new updated shop!
I will give this dive shop high marks for its customer service. Timely hydros, VIPs, and air fills make me happy. If you are driving in from the North, this shop will be on your way to Lake Travis.
Had a *great* experience getting certified by John! Class was filled with in-depth discussion of chapter materials and stories from Johns extensive diving background. There are two days of classroom training, two days of in pool training then two open water days at Lake Travis. My husband and I both completed our certifications in Lake Travis in December 2015. We wore wet suits from the shop so we were warm when we completed our diving exercises, but I was cold when we were out of the water getting ready for our second dives or heading back to the shop. John is very patient throughout the entire process. He breaks everything down to the bare minimum so you know *exactly* what you are supposed to do. He even explained all the *bad* things newbies do on their first dives which I did (all of them) on our two dives during our honeymoon in Cozumel. They were: dont spit in your mask then dunk it in the buckets on the boat, and hold your mask and weight belt when you jump into the water. One thing to share with other divers is that the pool and lake are *very* drying on skin and hair. I recommend taking a container of Argan Oil conditioner (the mask) to put in your hair after pool/lake exercises and Jergens wet skin moisturizer for your skin. Bring a ton of good moisturizer for moments when your skin is very dry. You can thank me later! ;-)Overall, I recommend Dive World Austin for your diving needs especially for certification. My husband and I are looking forward to taking more advanced classes with John this summer.Happy Diving!
Open water dive certification program was outstanding. Very professional instructor that was patient and provided practical information that has given me the confidence that I will have a safe and fun dive experience.
This is a friendly dive shop where the owner John and his awesome staff LISTEN to your questions and recognize the difference between wants and needs. John has personally assisted me with setting up a real RBS system, discussed dive lights, reviewed the merits of steel vs. aluminum dive tanks. Never once did John try to sell me fluff or dive equipment that I really did not need. We discussed uses and limits of equipment, and above all we discussed safe and unsafe practices. Most of this discussion happened before the first sales. All my purchases will be with John. Thank you for the fantastic customer service!
The staff is super friendly and knows what theyre talking about! Whether you need certification for an upcoming vacation or just want a dive mask that actually works, I would highly recommend Dive World.
Purchased snorkeling gear. Great customer service. Much better selection vs the larger stores or general sporting good stores.
I these people are the greatest.Iam a commercial diver and inland its hard to find a shop that has the time to listen to my special needs as a diver .The new management is a breath of fresh air from those other shopsthat really dont want our business because we want performance and not flash.s far as friendly the folks are the most professional courteous and friendly that Ive meant.after 50 + years of diving seen em all .goes to show they dont have much dive experience. Hats off try to Brittney and the gang
Great nicely remodeled dive shop. Very friendly and fun owner and staff. Good selection of dive equipment and right on the way to lake travis.
I was extremely disappointed with my experience at Dive World Austin and definitely would not recommend this dive shop to anyone. I paid $450 to complete the PADI touch open water certification and had high expectations for the class. I did not have a good experience with anyone at the shop including, my instructor (Basim F.), his wife/assistant (Emma F.), the store manager (Brittany H.), and sales associate (Jay M.). Every single person at Dive World Austin that I had an encounter with (minus the people in my class) were all extremely condescending and rude. My instructor and his wife, led our lake dives and they treated everyone in our group like we were complete idiots when we would ask questions or when we were unsure of something. On numerous occasions someone in our group (including me) got yelled at or made fun of for stupid things (Example: Our group was told by the instructors that we had to complete a “on surface skill” with our compass, so I’m in the water waiting for my buddy to get in the water and do the exercise with me when Emma F. yells at me from about 5 feet away that I need to be doing the exercise right that instant. She condescendingly asks what I’m doing and if I even know how to do the exercise. I then calmly explain to her that I’m waiting for my buddy and she freaks out and tells me I don’t need a buddy... but I’m almost certain one of the rules in scuba diving is to do everything with a buddy so I sit there and wait for my buddy anyways. Also, after the fact Basim corrected his wife telling her that we actually were supposed to be doing it with our buddies and she just rolled her eyes and laid off. The point is she should not have acted that way towards a student ever. It was extremely unprofessional and rude.) Personally, being super excited to get certified, I feel this treatment was the exact opposite of what I should’ve received from my instructors. They hand-in-hand made the experience for everyone extremely stressful and negative.
Nice PADI Open Water dive refresher course. I havent been SCUBA diving in 30+ years, but wanted to book a dive trip on an upcoming vacation to Belize. The refresher course I took last week gave me the confidence to start blowing bubbles again. Thanks Divd World!
Fantastic instruction and fantastic diver support! I will definitely dive with these folks again when I am in the Austin Texas area!!Thank you!!!
I worked with Brittany and she was knowledgeable and kind. I would highly recommend this business to anyone looking for diving advice or equipment.
Extremely helpful and knowledgeable staff. Everyone there is friendly and they have great instructors too.
Most helpful and kind scuba shop Ive ever been in.
Great instructor and great storeHope to be back in class this summer for my Advanced Certificationcant wait to see the new store set up!
Knowledgeable, friendly, no pressure (pun intended) local dive shop.
I had an amazing last minute trip to Mexico largely due to the amazing bookings from DWA. I took in fantastic reefs, an underwater museum, the Ceneotes and a Whale Shark excursion!Thank you DWA!
Super Helpful for people interested in getting certified and new divers!
Excellent dive instructors and staff, good equipment and clean facility.
Went by here to get a paintball tank filled, everyone was friendly, service was quick. Ill be back if I need a refill!
Great service rented Tanks there many times over the years. Thanks,Will
There was a complete lack of customer service. The owner alleged that my certification through NASE is invalid because he hasnt heard of the organization. I was astonished by how rude and unprofessional the service was.
Dive WorldProfessional and friendly! I enjoyed refreshing my dive certification and updating my equipment with Dive World.
Great experience with Dive World! John was the best.
Extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Will be back!
Always helpful, knowledgeable, and nice :)
Very, very rude ownership and staff
Couldnt have asked for a better experience. Our Instructor Jesse was incredible. Our Dive Master Dan was on point and very helpful. I already signed up for additional classes....cant wait to get back there with this wonderful group of people..
Had the great experience of doing the Discover Scuba as well as getting my Open Water Certification done here. Jesse and Dan are amazing to learn from! Sales reps in the store were also incredibly helpful and provided great recommendations for purchasing gear. Will definitely be going back. Thanks again!
Dive World Austin is spectacular! I took the PADI Open Water certification program with Ashley Carter and she was phenomenal. Ashley was so knowledgeable and encouraging, making sure each student felt comfortable and prepared. If you need to get certified or just looking to learn more about scuba diving, Dive World Austin is the place to go!
