So went here to get a drink and found a surprise in it. Called them to just let them know. Not expecting anything from it and this assistant manager first accused me of lying and then gave me attitude. I let her know politely that I was just letting her know and that I didnt want anything for this. I get that people have bad days but when someone tries to help you, dont be rude. I will not go back.

There is no indoor ordering nor outdoor seating. Only a drive-through. This is a coffee kiosk on a corner. When I had a big van I could not get through here but now that I have a sedan I can. Fall flavors are out I got a maple latte with almond milk and I also got a blended caramel apple frappe. It tasted exactly like green apples with caramel. They serve food here and the menu looks health-conscious but I would suggest you not go through this drive-thru if youre in a hurry. If you have a large vehicle I suggest parking next door and walking over. It is absolutely worth it. They have packaged juice shots, you can see the photos Ive included. They also have a Red Bull blended drink that you can add flavors to if youre needing a pick-me-up.

Way better then Starbucks. I come here regularly and Im never disappointed. The butterfinger white mocha is amazing. And they carry almond milk.

I usually love this place… but today the barista was so rude. I always order an unsweetened iced tea. He gave me a sweet tea today. I took a sip and got his attention to ask for another without sugar. He told me that I shouldn’t even say the word “unsweetened” because he will only hear “sweetened” and give me a tea with sugar… I don’t know why he can’t just fully listen to the customer and why he had to have an attitude when I stated I had the wrong drink.

I have lived in Bakersfield for many years. I work downtown and drive on California Ave a least a couple times a week. I would always pass by Java Detour, yet I would never stop. And boy do I regret it! Ive been missing out on this gem for years. I have finally been enough times to confidently say, this is my go-to for a pick-me-up! This tiny drive-thru coffee shop is so awesome! The staff is always so nice. They always greet me with a smile and ask how my day is going. One thing I’ve learned is, always listen the their recommendations! If I didn’t do so, I would have never found my new favorite drinks.They have a Butterfinger Frappe that is so good! its literally like taking a sip of frozen blended candy deliciousness. I also love the caramel apple frappe but Im not sure if that one is a seasonal drink or not? And dont get me started on the RedBull drinks! I dont even like RedBull from the can lol, but theres something about these that is unlike anything Ive ever tasted. Its like a slushie with a kick of energy. I havent tried any of their food items besides their banana muffins. Ill be honest theyre not the best Ive ever had but still good to have with a warm cup of coffee. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone who lives in bakersfield, or even if you’re passing through! It’s worth the “Detour”. They’re conveniently located right off the freeway which is a plus. You won’t be disappointed!

Went a few days ago for the first time and got a strawberry banana smoothie which was sooooo good and the lady who helped me was really sweet as well and gave my puppy a treat :) definitely will be back!

The lady was rude, she didnt listen to what we ordered. My drink was awful and didnt taste like banana at all. When I asked her for a straw she gave me a huge straw and when I asked for a sleeve because the cup was really hot she huffed and said its a double insulated and I told her its hot and she rolled her eyes at me. Will never go there again.

Happy they were open in the later afternoon. A pretty good choice of blended drinks, especially in the heat of the day. Had SF White Mocha with SF Coconut, didnt taste like last time, so Ill have to try it again or use SF Mocha instead. Funky Monkey is a good choice too.

Dont order for delivery. First time I did my Frappuccino came in a soda cup. This time no whip cream .unless you order at the store they dont care what they send you. I tried to call the store twice they let it ring till it hung up. They know they are wrong .. place has gone down .

Good customer service as always but as of the pandemic not sure what safety measures are being taken because I received my order from a woman I didnt recognize so maybe new. She was maskless and handed me my drink with bare hands and her hands were touching the lid where I would drink from. There was another man in there looking like a security guard and he was maskless also. I was discouraged from going back now after witnessing this. If you want to be an anti masker, fine. But in your place of business, set an example or else you will lose customers. I was a long time customer but I am likely not going back. Ill be fine using my keurig if it means not getting service from maskless employees.

I absolutely love this place! Never once have I ever gotten a chunk of ice that wont go up the straw! Which I cant say the same for Sarbucks! The people at Java Detour Inc. are always very friendly and have knowledge about what they are selling. Their blended drinks are much smoother than Starbucks also!

Really like this little coffee shop! Just a tiny place with quite a few options for coffee, smoothies, teas and they also have breakfast sandwiches and burritos. Everyday they have a drink special for $3 instead of the normal $6 called the drink of the day and its a different drink every day. The staff are usually very friendly and if you get the same drink everyday they will to start making it when they see you pull up.

The water was very water. 10/10 would get water here again.

We just had a terrible experience at Starbucks..30 min wait and they screwed up my or so bad I preceded to throw it in their planter box... this coffee was amazing fast delicious and bigger and cheaper than Starbucks and 28min faster!

A novelty experience and friendly staff. Aside from being too hot, the cappuccino isnt too bad! Drive through is very convenient if you like coffee on the road.

I really like this place but one side was closed and the barrista said I would have to wait until ALL OF THE CARS WERE SERVED FIRST! I had to complain loudly in order to get served according to when I started waiting.

This was my first time through this nice little coffee hut. Staff seemed very friendly and the coffee was what I expected, decent bordering on excellent.

Only place ive found so far with iced redbull drinks, im from Washington where theyre big on coffee shops & the iced redbull drinks are big to so i can say that almost $6 for a small & XL for almost $11 is way pricy when in Washington its only $5 for a large. But im just happy they have them theyre amazing!

The Mexican Mocha is my favorite blended in the hot days and hot in the cold mornings

We have been several times and unfortunately it seems to be going downhill. The service tonight was terrible so much so that we ended up driving away after the girl working made it clear she wasnt interested in helping us. The guy in front of us chatting her up didnt seem to have any issue with his service. Hopefully management gets ahold of this issue before all the nearby coffee spots run them out of business.

On several occasions I have stopped here 10 minutes or more before close and have been refused service. Do not say closing time is 9pm if its really 8:45pm. Also, there are only a few good drinks on the menu. I have a couple go tos, but everytime Ive order something new Ive been disappointed.
