The coffee is delicious, love the atmosphere, and the service has been great. Got to meet the owner this morning randomly and they were so nice! The barista was also nice enough to explain their flash brewed coffee to me. Have been getting the house vanilla flavor in my lattes and would recommend!

Sophomore coffee just opened today and let me tell you how excited I am to have affordable but delicious local coffee in the neighborhood! It helps that the owners and workers are fantastic as well. If youre having trouble finding the entrance its just down the steps out front!

A once normal basement filled with possibility now brims with the spirit of the old gods. Here, the hope and elation of the people are tethered to their dreams once again. The coffee is good too.

Ya it’s good; let me tell you how good. It’s hip, it’s Afro-Zen, it supports other local businesses (like with the beautiful flower arrangement at the entrance), it’s part of the neighborhood in a way that makes the neighborhood.That’s the shop.The coffee is a dream, I had an iced mocha that made everything in my life right in that moment because it was so well made. I closed my eyes and smiled when I tasted it. I had a pear pastry, and a savory croissant as well (so delicious). All served up in a way that was mindful that I had stopped in, distanced waited on line, and was paying good money. The service said yes, we noticed, here’s coffee and crumpets made just for you, please stop by again.I will stop by again.

First visit here while on a bike ride (the shop is right off the Maryland Ave. cycling track). The iced coffee is exceptional and doesn’t need anything more than maybe a splash of creamer, if that’s your thing. Shoutout to the owner for offering an exceptional experience in Old Goucher. Definitely will be back.

So excited for the opening of our neighbor Sophomore Coffee. My husband is a huge coffee nerd and is obsessed with the perfectly brewed beans, I’m loving the unsweetened chai and gingery lemongrass herbal infusion. It will be a daily ritual!

Super cute, amazing staff, local and Black-owned - as if I needed more reasons to love this place! Owner is very cool and personable. This company really cares about what theyre selling you, which means a lot to me too. Highly recommend.

Sophomore coffee is consistently the coolest, friendliest, and highest quality coffee shop in the area! If you haven’t been, you must! Highly recommend the chai latte and the Bramble Bakes pastries.

You better believe it’s the best coffee shop in Baltimore! I’ve been to them all, but this excels in all areas: shop appearance and cleanliness, coffee quality, customer service, and COVID precautions.

A friend brought me here a while ago and the Americano I got tasted great! Very busy when we went (right before COVID restrictions back in February) which is a testament to its popularity as a new neighborhood staple. Support your local businesses and baristas and dont forget to tip!

The iced teas are phenomenal. I’ve never had anything like this! I’m not a coffee drinker, so this is the perfect alternative.

Ahhh! Its cold enough for me to once again really enjoy hot coffee and Sophomore Coffee is a great place to have a great cup of coffee! Theyve put a lot of love into this basement space and pour lots of love into the coffee drinks they make. There are goodies and other drinks to enjoy here but when the weather outside is chilly Im going with one of their many delicious hot coffee choices. Friendly owner and staff and a welcoming atmosphere make this a great stop!

The coffee is great, the ambiance is cool and somehow cozy. I loved it. The seasonal drink shakerato is made with a good quality espresso and vanilla, its cold and perfect for summer time. Be aware of the closing times ( it closes at 4 pm). The attendees are very congenial and attentive.

I had a most excellent cappuccino, perfectly made, and the staff was very friendly. The basement room is not at all dark. Really nice place to get out of the sun on a hot morning.
