Support this shop yall! Its an open, quiet space thats easy to navigate and loaded with charm. Reminds me of some landmark record shops Ive visited in NYC and Chicago, where the stacks are packed with both recognizable and underground picks and are hallmarks of authentic record appreciation. I had no trouble finding what I wanted and the owner, a super knowledgeable and friendly guy, even offered to play records I was interested in while I browsed. This will be a regular haunt for me.

This is hands down the best record store in the country. They have a huge selection of genres, including the most diverse selection of experimental and independent music Ive ever seen. They carry a lot of releases by great Baltimore bands too. Jason and Dave are also friendly people and talented musicians. Theyve got records, cassettes, CDs/CDrs, anything you could imagine. I come here every time Im in Baltimore and have consigned some of my own tapes here.

What an amazing experience. I was enthralled by the shop on my visit to Baltimore, and Ive made a few puchases by mail since then. Owner is so knowledgeable and passionate, it seems like hes actually listened to every record in his shop, and hes got interesting back stories behind many of them. He stands by what he sells with passion. Its like a farmers market for music.

Went in there once to dig through the crates and two staff members were smoking cigarettes in the shop. Even worst, they tried to hide it. So easy to smell. Totally unacceptable, especially considering the price they ask for records way less than VG.Also: Nice attitude, dude. You really don’t care about any customer service, do you? Smoking in your shop is disgusting, who cares about your grading experience when your staff is smoking in the record shop? Loser.

I will generally say that this store was my favorite place in Hampden if not all of Baltimore. Bring the fam, bring the kids, they should have an evocative early childhood introduction to music that they will likely never hear anywhere else. The world presents us with opportunities to learn from places and people we happen to stumble across, and the True Vine is open to anyone who is willing to listen.

This place rulez! Ive picked a ton of Obscure Experimental/Noise LPS there since they opened at their new location a few months ago. Taking advantage of consigned personal collections by the likes of Heresee and other Baltimore heads. Most of the the titles Ive picked up are from the 2000-2010 American Noise scene, and are an average of $5-$7 a pop.

The true vine is my favorite record shop in baltimore & one of my favorites ever. Almost every time i walk through the door something amazing that ive never heard before is playing on their stereo. They stock a lot of familiar titles but the level of discovering something unfamiliar there is giant. Ive spent many hours there & i still feel like i just scratched the surface. Everyone who works there is a musician & passionate about music. the last time i was there i sat near the desk listening to the music & the owner made me a coffee! awesome shop.

Just Ok. Went there on RSD, Didnt have any RSD releases? The shop and neighborhood is straight out of Portlandia. Hipster dads with pork pie hats and street kids. Good selection for such a small shop but prices were just to high for me to come back in the future. Bought a used record VG grade to G for $27, looked it up on discogs and ebay later and Mint and NM condition ones are going for $16 to $20.

This is an excellent record store, specializing in vinyl, though there is a good CD section as well. It is a place for the record loving community...with an emphasis (though not an exclusiveness) on unusual music, whether that means statistically unusual for an American record store (there are African, Malaysian, Sudanese, French, Indonesian records here, not reissues, the genuine article), or musically un-usual (there is noise, musique concrete, 20th century experimental composition, etc) as well as more normal things... Led Zeppelin, Bobby Brown, Little Feat, Baltimore Club, Hardcore, Zydeco, Early Music, Baroque music, horrible 80s 12s, etc.So, for Matthew, my fellow reviewer, does anyone in the 21st Century actually say things like, high on marijuana cigarettes?! Its a RECORD STORE, you putz! Its not a Christian Science Reading Room! The people who work there are, in my experience, super sweet, knowledgeable, friendly folks. I *have* noticed that people bring a lot of trips with them to record stores, afraid that they are being judged by the staff on their taste...I would like to assure those people that if it is stocked in a store, the staff WANTS YOU TO BUY IT.Take it easy, folks...jeez.
