My story is unique. I drove 2500 miles from Arizona to buy a KW 189 from Butler Marine. Crazy! Anyway my experience w sales department was average at best. After we left, I felt like my rep could have cared less.We needed some follow up and he would not respond.However, here’s to Bo Bliss in service. That dude is awesome. He has helped us on several occasions with great follow up. We lost one of our seat covers and he made sure we got one replaced.I know buying from across country has its problems but knowing Bo will help us in the future is cool.Big props to him. Enough to overcome the sales debacle and give them 5 stars.

I shopped for a key west boat for sometime before deciding on a used boat located at Butler Marine in Beaufort South Carolina. Wow what a great deal on this boat. And I could not have asked for a better boat. Excellent price, excellent condition, no problems with the boat. I purchased a Key West 211 With a 175 Suzuki. Granted the 175 Suzuki is a bit small for this boat but I like the gas mileage.

Bought a barely used 2019 Suzuki from a private individual. Needed a dealer to inspect and transfer warranty into my name. Even though they were closed for annual inventory Bo from the service department met us and handled everything. This was a free service and much appreciated. I am posting this review for John Fallon.... had my 26ft Wellcraft there for for problems with my 2 stroke Yamaha 250 of which I had previously taken to 3 other places with no solution. these guys were great had it up and running like new in no time and communicated what the problem was and how to fix it. Took it out and water tested it yesterday and it has never run better, 5600 RPM with no problems. Very happy and definitely recommend. Price of repairs was more than fair, wish I had taken it here first and saved myself lots of money and aggregation.

I had been looking for a Key West 176,but whenever I found one it had already been sold and the post not taken down. When I found the one at Butler Marine in Charleston it was at the right price and had everything I wanted. I called and it was still available so I put a down payment on it. I had spoken to Ken in sales and he said they would go over the boat and motor and make sure everything checked out well. I live 900 miles away in Louisiana so it wasn’t practical to drive there just to see it. About week later Ken called said everything checked out well and that they had changed the axles, wheel bearings and springs on the trailer at no cost to me since they didn’t think the trailer was up to a 900 mile trip. A week later my grandson and I drove to Charleston to Butler Marine and about 30 minutes later we were on our way home. The return trip went smooth and I’ve used the boat a couple of times and everything has worked well. My whole experience with this purchase was outstanding and all the staff were very knowledgeable and great to work with.

I am not at all happy with the service. There actually was no service. I dropped my boat off on 11/16. My T-top was shaking and seemed to be loose. Was told that they would contact Key west to see if it was a warranty possibility. After over a week with no feedback I called. At that point I was told that since I didnt buy my boat at their dealership they would not do any warranty work on it. Which is completely ridiculous! I live 5 minutes from the dealership. I made three attempts to purchase a boat from your them however each time I was met with a salesman that wouldnt give me the time of day. Never once was I even shown a boat on their lot. The last time I stopped by I was told that they had nothing and it would be three months before I could even look at a boat. I truly dont know if you can make it any harder to be a customer. I would think that they would like to be performing my service work. I have been thinking about upgrading looks as if I will be shopping for a different brand.

We took our boat in for a full service (to include oil change) and sold it through Butler Marine in the same month. We just spoke with the gentleman that bought our boat and he informed us that the boat had no oil in it, even though we were charged for it when we took it in AND they charged him to add the oil.They also charged our card without prior approval when they repaired something on our boat prior to selling it. They did not inform us they found an issue, so we were completely blindsided by the charge.
OH BOY !!!!!!!! WE DID NOT EXPERIENCE THE SAME RESULTS as in 2012 FROM THE PURCHASE WITH tISON MOTORS .The boat was $ 14k more and we received 140% less in service and QUALITY from KEYWEST TO BUTLER MARINE . THIS HAS BEEN A VERY DISSATISFYING PURCHASE. So much, Key West has lost the faith in their product of a 20 year loyal customer. I PROMISE! 2022 we will be searching OTHER manufactures.This process started august 3rd 2016, we asked for a 2017 motor and was told it could be April before we would receive the boat because the motors are installed as stocked. We compromised and accepted the 2016 motor. we asked for the six year extended warranty. We signed and agreed October 5, 2016. The boat, which we custom ordered, which we put in detailed writing and pictures. Was to be picked up after the first of the year.We received a call from stating the boat would arrive the second week of December. We wanted to take an initial look to assure we were on the same page.This is where my experience started to turn negative. We first noticed water up to the hydraulic pump in the center console. (What hit me like a ton of bricks is when the sales rep stated this was normal) . What, I found was debris in the hull that would not let water drain. The hydraulic pump was right in the floor of under the center console which was disturbing, because things get thrown into this compartment. . (POOR QUALITY CONTROL FROM KEY WEST) The stereo was below the cup holders. I heard more justification and trying to sell me the fact of why electronics were put under drink holders. There was a compass installed which was evidently not there in the pictures we provided for the custom boat. . The bolts that hold the jack plate on were reamed. I was later told by Chris Butler the jack plate was not flush from Key West, hence the reason for the stripped heads on the bolts . the boat was going back to Key West for adjustments.The cover for the hydraulic pump was started however not complete, The cup holder and it plastic flange was a joke. (The owner Chris gave me a $ 60.00 allowance to fix it) so far the stainless cost me $ 60.00 and I have it to be painted from Morris auto in Bloomingdale Ga. We brought a check for the balance of the 75,000.00 purchase THAT DAY . We gave it to Butler. Before we left I decided to just check the oil in the motor. Ir was inches above the max line on the dip stick. I brought this to Lindsey attention. Lindsey went to get there mechanic, when he checked. He stated. It was good we did not run the engine. He removed what seemed to be adequate. We took the boat.When I started working on the boat, I started to notice other imperfections. By the front bait well.) You could see disc sanding swirls under the paint or gelcoat. The gull package zippers did not line up. It really was just not a good fit for this new top . The was a gouge in rear aft from when they work the adjustment of Jack plate.The boat showed compound where the detail was never complete.Along the skid deck, there showed almost like an over spray. I was told this was a mold issues because this is an older model.KNOW, I REACHED OUT TO THE CONTACT (upper management) at KEY WEST four TIMES via email and phone ….. no response !!WHEN THIS IS ALL SAID IN DONE. WE END UP WITH A 2017 KEY WEST HULL AN 8/2016 MOTOR. A SKID DECK THAT IS LOOKS LIKE IT WAS JUST DONE BY MY CHILD. A MISSING REMOTE FOR THE POWER POLE, (That he probably will offer to sell me at cost) A WARRANTY THAT STATERD IN NOVEMEBER 2016. The FIRST TIME THE MOTOR HIT THE WATER WAS 4-07-17 . A GULL PACKAGE THAT IS WORTHLESS. THE NEW TOP IS WIDER AND ALLOWS RAIN AND WIND TO THE AREA THAT THE GULL IS DESIGNED TO PROTECT.

Al was great to work with. They estimated it would be 3-4 weeks, but got it back to us in 2 weeks. He had to search for the scarce replacement part we needed, but was able to find it and get us back on the water. I would definitely recommend them to others for service on their boat.

Im from Greenville, and my purchase was only for a new Wesco trailer for my 1720 Key West sportsman and several of my local boat dealers never even tried to help. Wife and I wanted to downsize boats. We sold our 25ft sea hunt for an inshore 19ft sea hunt. New job positions don’t allow us to use the 25ft boat like we used to. Went to 3 other dealerships before we found a boat that met our needs and wants. Ken in the Charleston store made a customer for life. Next boat will come from Butler marine. If work needs to be done we will go to Butler marine. The entire sales experience pre/during and post sale were excellent. The only regret at the time of sale we couldn’t do any hand shakes. We’ll be back for sure! ****update**** one year later: I drove the boat past several other dealerships and service centers for service, I needed some electrical and engine service that were beyond my capabilities. Bo at the Beaufort shop had the senior technician install a new battery switch, and clean the fuel injectors. Once again the communication, value, and total experience is why I am a customer for life. Once our family is done growing we will be getting a sportsman or world cat from Butler Marine. If you need a filter or a new boat your time and business is appreciated and respected.
The Dry-stack and service teams are excellent. I have had my boat in the dry stack for a year and very pleased with Todd and his team. Recently had service work done and Mark, Bo / the service team were a pleasure to work with. Very fair and good communication. They went above and beyond to take care of me.
I was in desperate need of getting one of my trailer hubs replaced. Butler Marine is close to my house so I was able to make it there safely. The service department was backed up but got me worked in quickly. Now I don’t have to worry able my hub while trailering my boat. Great job!!

In 2008 my husband and I purchased a Key West from Butler Marine in Charleston. We had an incredible experience!! Mr. Jenkins was professional and honest. We had many great years with our Key West. So of course when we were on the hunt for a new boat in 2020 Butler Marine was our first choice.Our Charleston location did not have the boat we were looking for so we purchased our boat from the Lady’s Island location.We dealt with Lindsay on the sale of this boat.We were told the motor had just been serviced, no issues, etc. A few short weeks after having the boat home we had to spend $3,000 getting work done on the motor. The motor had not been serviced. And according to our boat mechanic... it had not been serviced in years. This was very upsetting to us as this was an establishment that we have trusted for years and did not think it was necessary to have our boat mechanic drive from Charleston to check out the motor for us prior to the sale. We will know better next time!Lastly, we have never dealt with someone more rude and unprofessional than Jennifer. She handles the titles and boy was it a nightmare getting in touch with her. She never sent the title over to our bank like she was supposed to and when we FINALLY got in touch with her she was defensive and “laughing” condescendingly telling me my husband should “get his voicemail fixed.” It was very disheartening to have her speak to us (the customer) this way.My husband and I are business owners and we pride ourselves on honesty and professionalism. Which Butler Marine Lady’s Island lacks completely.DO NOT BUY A BOAT FROM HERE!!!

My experience purchasing my boat from Lindsay was delightful and I would recommend her if your in the market for a boat.I purchased my boat in August last year. My experience since then has not been very pleasant. I have been reaching out to the service department since October about a couple issues that simply will not get resolved. I have been very patient. When I call and check on the resolution to my issues, Im told they will get back to me and then I never hear from them. The Bimini is not sized correctly to fit the boat and the damaged paint to the outdrive is still not repaired or replaced. The boat is under warranty. Why cant they fix these issues??7/24/19 Update:Soon after this review was posted, I recieved a call from Chris Butler. He acknowledged that I have been seeking to get these things resolved and that Butler fell down on getting them repaired. The service department and the drystack team thought each other was taking care of it taking care of the issues. The Bimini was fixed. Thank you Chris.However, the cover for my motor was not repaired but I could buy a very discounted replacement for $300. Im not sure how I feel about that since I know I did not cause the damage.

Butler Marine in Charleston resolved the engine issues with my boat in a timely manner. They sent a mechanic to the dry storage facility, replaced both batteries, and repaired the faulty wiring problem.

After you buy a boat here its like they put you on their do not answer the phone list. I have called numerous times and left messages with the service dept for warranty work, never been called back. I called Key West directly and they sent me replacement parts. Take your money somewhere else.
Was quoted a price on a very routine task of changing an antenna, and when I went to pick the boat up the invoice was double of what the quoted price was. The service manager was overall very rude during this experience . On another occasion it seemed near impossible to get my boat into the shop to have a recall performed. The service manager said he would look into what the recalled called for and get back to me, but this never happened multiple times. Absolutely disgusted that I have to deal with them for my factory warranty.

I cant thank these guys enough. Heading out on the water at noon on July 3rd to start our long weekend and the hubs fall out of the trailer. We limped the trailer over and 4 hours later it was fixed and our family got to finish off our holiday weekend on the water. Thanks guys and gals at Butler for making this happen.

Wow these people are insane ! Just had a salesman named John yell and curse at us for asking if the top and cover came with the boat. Seemed like a reasonable question. But he proceeded to yell at us, he didnt need our f*****g kind here! Accused us of starting trouble. And used extreme profanity telling us to go f ourself. We asked to see the owner and he told us he didnt care who we spoke to, to just get he f out of here. Im sure there was a lot more but I was so shocked that I just crawled out of the place. May want to find somewhere else to buy your boat these people a crazy.

I took my 26ft boat here for a full service and replace a macerator pump. Full service was overpriced and boat was left a mess. I was back on the water and went to use the macerator to flush the toilet. Long and behold it still did not work. My bill was well over $1500 as well. Not a great place for my boat.

Its an alright Marine shop like anything else parts will cost you a small fortune for your engine but its that way everywhere you go staff is very friendly though and knowledgeable overall thumbs up
They say they can get me a mechanic but will be a week. A week and a half later and they tell me they dont have time. Very unprofessional. Instead of apologizing, they were rude about blowing smoke.
