5 stars for effort! They were one of a few eateries on Bay Street that were open on Memorial Day and they were feeling the pressure. But the staff all kept their cool and worked extra hard and were still very polite and friendly to all their patrons. We got the Southern Nights hot dog and the Big Chill chili dog. Both were very good. The dogs themselves were quite good with a nice ‘snap’. And for dessert we had a delicious chocolate malt.

What a cute and friendly ice cream parlor! We brought our children and it was very comfortable and clean when we got there we tried a few different things and I would say the hot apple pie sundae way the best!! I would recommend it 10x’s over to anyone in the area.

Came in during rush hour. we had to wait awhile for our food. but, the two ladies working we’re working really hard, and the food was fresh and warm. plus, we got icecream after, which was just as great. cute little interior and had a good vibe. overall, pretty good experience 👍🏻

Southern Sweets Ice Cream & Sandwich Shop on Bay Street in Beaufort is a great place to go for all things sweets and ice cream all in one place. I really like the relaxed and laid back atmosphere here that allows you to really enjoy everything. The staff here is very attentive and they work hard to make sure that you have everything that you need. They are definitely worth checking out for a good treat.

Loved this place! I felt like I walked back into the 50s. The classic music was enjoyable, and the decorations reminded me of being in a movie. I have never had Pistachio ice cream drizzled in hot chocolate. It was amazing! They have a very big collection of rare combinations, with a lot of varieties. Its a perfect place for stopping by after a long hot walk up Bay St. on a sunny day!

The interior is very nostalgic like the old ice cream shoppes. Service rates negative from the owners daughter who threw bacon on my egg salad sandwich! Refused to give me a substitute meal or refund my money. Who does that? Pricey for the area too. Ice cream is really good and the store worth a visit for sure. Old fashioned candy, ice cream sodas too. Maybe they should consider hiring new help??

Awesome ice cream shop! Great place to grab some lunch and some sweet dessert. I got Carmel candy ice cream which I really recommend. Good prices and fun atmosphere, like an old diner.

Stopped for ice cream while in town for the water festival. Very nice little ice cream and sandwich shop. Staff was very friendly and service was fast and very good. There was a customer sitting at a table talking on her phone, with the speaker, so everyone could here the conversation. The staff asked her to please turn the speaker off. Thank you no one wants to here for phone conversation. The ice cream was delicious. Did not order any food so cant comment on that.

The people seemed uninterested in their job. it’s the second time we’ve been in there, and both times they didn’t have onions, or horseradish for the roast beef sandwich, and it tasted a bit bitter. i got the sandwich toasted and it wasn’t even warm. the cheese wasn’t melted at all. i also was shocked when one of the workers took off their mask at one point. would rate it a zero if I could. cute setup though!

The environment gives an upbeat 1950s/1960s feel. Very good service. Very good pizza. A big selection of ice cream flavors, as well. Would definitely recommend coming here.

I got a roast beef sandwich with cheddar, onions, and horseradish. They did not have the horseradish, and they did not have the purple onions. The sandwich was not good, the roast beef tasted odd, and it was overpriced. Staff members were rude and did not seem to want us in the shop. Cute aesthetic, but not worth another trip. Save your money and look elsewhere.

The food was okay, but the prices are overrated. We had a bad experience here, we pay $30 and Im sorry that I expect my order to be right. I pay $30 after being told a few things would be extra. The person who took my order come back to tell me she forgot to charge the extra $1 for bacon, so we dont have any cash but she insists on us paying the $1. She brings my card back to the table and the receipt says $3.27. ummm what? So I go up there and ask how much a milk is for my one year old and said since I was over charged if I could just get the milk for free. They did this & it was fine. But then my boyfriends order came out wrong. So then they had to remake it.This place is rated best of Beaufort but I went to down the street to get my ice cream at Kilwins and got WAY better service in the two minutes I was there.

This place has got a cool atmosphere, and even cooler treats.Yeah, it may be a little pricey, but look where your at for Petes sake. I mean come on, theres a Maserati parked around the corner at the park.

We always stop by for ice cream and or hot dogs when in town (which is often) staff is always nice & good service. I have never had a disappointing visit till this past weekend. Granted it is Water Festival week, shop was very busy, I ordered the hot dog that has a chow chow like relish (dont remember the exact name) to keep it simple, I asked for chili, slaw & cheese on the side. When I received my meal, the chili was literally barely a milkshake spoon size, the cheese didnt cover half of the hot dog, when I asked the server for additional chili/cheese as this amount didnt cover one bite she stated it was their policy to provide the amounts served and what do you want me to do she reluctantly provided another spoonful of chili but no cheese. Family members were a bit upset as it took 45 minutes to get our food, milkshake & ice cream. Again it was Water Festival weekend, shop was busy. But the nonchalant attitude when asking for at least half a serving size of chili/cheese that could be tasted on the hot dog was very disappointing. When you want a good hot dog and you know where to go for one and then dont have the serving sizes that you normally get and then you get the nonchalant response it is highly disappointing.

Best ice cream around!! Fantastic staff! Great sandwiches and gift items! Always friendly and helpful. Cool music! Check out their new flavors that they add occasionally...yummy! They also have cool old fashioned sodas that you cant find anywhere else!

Amazing service! We had 9 kids in our party and the staff was excellent. The old fashioned floats were yummy! We will come back next time we are in town.

I love this place! I came here when we first moved to Beaufort with my cousin and my brother. We all got sandwiches and absolutely loved them. We came back another time for ice cream, and they have the best ice cream in town. :D10/10 would reccomend.

Best hot dogs in town. The ice cream is so creamy. Once you have some, you will want more. Staff is very friendly and helpful. You find yourself in down town Beaufort- stop in for a bite or a cone. You will not be sorry. Thanks Southern Sweets! Your the best!

We visited this place twice during our visit to Beaufort. The first time was great! Ice cream is good - service was great. We enjoyed it so much we came back two nights later - but to a different experience. It was near closing time which I understand. If you don’t want to serve someone, politely say, sorry we are closed. Instead the older woman ( who wasn’t there the previous visit) says we can give you something to go! So we decided to order. She makes another comment about getting the doors locked and made it known we were there at closing time. She seemed flustered. Another couple came in and that really seemed to upset her as she says loudly “ we need to get these people out of here! “. I was so taken back! We loved the place our first visit, but this time wow. The whole family was shocked by how the lady kept going on and on about locking the doors and hurrying to get us out! Very disappointing!

Every time my family visits Beaufort we must stop at Southern Sweets! The atmosphere is fun, the ice cream is delicious, and the staff is caring and friendly! We love them! Our personal favorites are the salted caramel candy ice cream and the pimento cheese sandwich! So good!

They got something for everyone, (Max is eating dog ice-cream sundae )some waffle cones and sundaes...ice cream is on point (tastes really good) not too dry not too sweet. Just right. Later

We visited on a Friday night, and it was packed with people. The wait was frustrating but we knew the staff were working as hard as they could, and they were really doing a great job. It definitely wasnt their fault we had to wait! Blame the great ice cream that everyone wanted. We had milkshakes and really enjoyed them!

Friendly Staff excellent food! Everything Ice-Cream wise is made homage at southern sweets there chocolate, vanilla, strawberry everything is great! Even there pizzas are homage as well as there whipped cream. Everything is great at Southern Sweets!

My family & I visited yesterday. I was the first to order, which was a child size. I always order that particular size, when out for ice cream. My husband also wanted a child size portion, he was told that he could not order that size, it is for 10 years, & younger. My 11 year old was told to order 2 flavors, that she couldnt have the child size. (I got away with it because our 15 month old was also with us & the employee assumed that my order was for him, which I did split with him). I have never heard of an age limit for ice cream. We are sorry that we didnt come in with the intentions of pigging out, only for you to only care about the mighty dollar.

Extremely friendly & helpful staff. We had a fairly large group (17) & even though the place is small, they had everything arranged perfectly for us.

Went in close to closing time and the little lady was nice and super happy to have customers. She even was nice to local folks as well and that made me have faith in mankind. Thank you for my chocolate and peanut butter milkshake!!

Service was awful, a waitress stepped on my daughters foot after literally pushing her out if the way to get behind the counter. We asked for our treats to go and then got them in glassware, so we had to stay. As we were preparing to leave a section of the ceiling came down and struck my daughters arm. No one apologized or asked if we were ok. $25 for 5 ice creams. Cute place, if it didnt try to kill us.

The service is terrible. The white lady is not friendly (arrogant) she keeps talking to her co worker with tattoos while the young one do the work. Looks like she is a racist. The hot chocolate is pretty good though.
