Fair Pricing, went into Rising Sun for a diagnostic to troubleshoot my cars starting issues. Kai was super awesome, and quickly found the issue. Parts and Service were charged a fair price. Will be taking my car to them in the future, if further issues arise.

My Corolla had broken down needing an alternator replacement. I came in around 10am to get the repair and received a call at 2pm telling me the car was ready. I have an older Toyota and was experiencing acceleration issues. Some dash lights were on and I called and got an appointment easily. They had my car for half day, did the diagnostic and determined everything was in good order. Wouldn’t take any money for their services. This is the second time I’ve taken a vehicle to Rising Sun and had a fantastic customer experience. The first time I made an appointment for a break job somewhere else and inadvertently showed up here by accident. They fit me in and saved me $200 from what the other guys quoted me. Absolute rip-off, and super condescending and rude. This place was recommended by multiple people, so I brought it in before I moved halfway across the country, already knowing one repair that needed to be done- I told them what it was over the phone before I brought the car in. They kept my car for over a day and then told me they didn’t have time to fix that, and anyway it could wait for months to get fixed (still charged me $400 for the other stuff they apparently had time to do). I had to leave town and didn’t have time to take it elsewhere. Now, a month and a half later, it’s gotten much worse and is costing $1200 to fix. They also missed a bunch of small issues like the spark plugs and the bent heat shield that caused awful rattling. Don’t take your car here- HUGE waste of time and money.

Have been taking my Jeep Compass for oil changes since my sister and I moved to Bellingham in September 2019. Excellent service. I appreciate how they accommodate me when I call for an oil change in the morning without an appointment. The only downside is that it costs $49.89 for an oil change when Im used to paying $40 for oil change in Utah. However, it is worth it since I do not want to experience sitting in my car waiting for AAA or a tow truck to come to my rescue.

I had a busted water pump and an over heating VW Golf and they told me to bring it by Friday at 4:30. They said I could leave it over the weekend and it would be done in a few days, and on Monday morning I got a call that it was ready for pickup! Since fixing a car can be very frustrating, I think customer service might be just as important as how they actually fix the car. Each time I called (dealing with a crappy insurance stuff), I really thought I may have worn them down, BUT nope, super nice and helpful every time! The fix they did on my car was exactly what they had promised and their price is very fair for being a 5 star shop. I dont see us going anywhere else for our next fix. My wifes 2015 Nissan Altima CVT Transmission started humming badly at freeway speeds. I took it to Dealership who wanted over $5,000 to replace the CVT. Rising Sun did the job for 30% less in the same amount of time. Now I know they have a crowded parking lot and dont always have a loaner available, but if youre looking for good reliable repairs, you can trust these guys. Ive brought my Nissan vehicles here for problems I cant solve myself for over 25 years now.

This is the only shop I could find that would work on my 30 year old Toyota pick-up. They diagnosed the problem, called me with the cost of the repair, and had my truck ready by the end of the day. Cost was what I expected and reasonable, service good. I will for sure go back!

They are very friendly, I had a break down and they came out to me and fixed my car. There has also been times when I have had car problems and I was out of town, called them to tell them I was going to have my car towed there. They are not that expensive, and they arent out looking to drain you of your money there have been times where they did not even charge me (obviously for little things bending my heat shield back in place...etc.) They can get pretty busy sometimes so it could be better to call ahead or make an appointment. Honestly nothing bad to say.

Khai is very competent, fair and honest. Ive been taking my car there for 12 years now and Ive never dealt with a better mechanic. He wont wring every last dollar out of you and he knows what the hell hes doing. Thats almost impossible to find.

This was a good company 10 years ago. In the past two years they have made mistake after mistake on my car. From rookie mistakes like not refilling fluids on oil changes and not replacing plastic tabs that hold the engine cover down, to major mistakes like pulling my engine and not sealing an o-ring, leaning on my radiator and puncturing the top hose, over-inflating my tires, installing the wrong brake pads, and not cleaning up the rotors on a brake change. I have spent hundreds of dollars in the last two months repairing their repair jobs. When I contacted them to fix the problems, they did not return my emails.

Ive had to take my car in several times in the past year or so since coming to Bellingham, and every time Ive taken it in here at Rising Sun Motors, and Ive always been blown away by how affordable they make it and how kind theyve been. Many times Ive gone in with one problem, and theyll notice another problem here and there with my 20 year old car, and theyll fix it and only charge for part.I dont know about how helpful they are with cars that arent Japanese and all, but if theyre even half as helpful as they are with their specialty, I recommend asking for help.They often dont even charge for taking a look at the vehicle and will get it back to you as soon as possible.

These mechanics are amazingly good, honest, and expedient. I was referred by a long-time Bellingham resident, who always had excellent service from them.As a specific example of the service I received, I had visited two major brand auto shops in the Seattle area: Aamco and Sears. I was told by both places my head gasket needed to be replaced and that it would cost $1100-$1300, because of the intensive labor involved. A radiator hose burst on my way to work one day, so I had to immediately take my car to Rising Sun. Kai diagnosed that a smaller seal had broken causing oil to leak onto my cooling hose and eventually disintegrate it. He replaced and repaired all items at a fraction of the cost I was quoted for the head gasket repairs I needed.

Kai knows his cars! Truly great mechanic who really understands customer service too. We will take our Honda and Toyota no where else from now on.

BEWARE - They will rip you off on part prices! They charged me 101.38 Dollars for ONE Fuel Injector (FJ454) of which you can buy roughly 6 with the same amount of money yourself. They also charged me 136.82 for a Jeep Grand Cherokee 2001 ignition coil which you can buy for 60-80 dollars.

They had asked me if one of my family members still stays with me. 2 years after they had delt with her in the past. My sister owed them money for a job . I didnt know nothing about it. But what does my sister hafto do with me and mt car. Nothing at all. So they messed up car up because she owed them money. They saw that we had the same last name on the system. Worst experince.
