When we got our boat, we were hoping to start a long term relationship with a boat shop for all our needs and projects. All the preliminary communication was fine, and it appeared that top to bottom was going to be a good place for us to go for as long as we owned the boat. We had out boat hauled out for bottom paint, zinc replacement, as well as other seal and bearing replacement that was needed after inspection. The problem came when it was time to settle the bill. There was some communication during the maintenance, mostly about the status of certain items being replaced. During the entire haul-out process, there was never any mention about the increase in price for service. When I was finally sent the invoice, it was 50% higher than the out-the-door price quoted for all the service we had requested. When I had a phone conversation to find out what happened, I was told that they should have contacted me, however they dont have the time to micro-manage each project and talk to each customer about additional costs for projects. I understand if we were talking about a trivial amount, but a fifty percent price increase above what was quoted is outrageous. I really truly believe that the people who work there care about their work product, and they do perform an outstanding job. This is why I give it 2 stars, and not 1 star. You will get quality work done here, but guard your wallet, and dont assume what youre told as the price for service is anywhere near what youll end up paying. Obviously well never use their service again, which is a shame.
I had quite a few big and little projects to get done on my new (old) boat. Roger and his team took great care of the boat and me as the project went along. Everything was done flawlessly. The thing I like about Top to Bottom is that its a one stop shop. If a particular part of the job is not their area of expertise, a referral is arranged to be done while the boat is in their care. Great job!
Top to Bottom and Diversified Diving do an A+ job. Always very pleased with the results.
I had received a frightening over blown estimate from Sea View and Roger from Top to Bottom saved the day. He knew my boat was out of the water and time was ticking $$$. He met with me on a Saturday and reassured me that he could do the job in a reasonable time/cost frame. His comments and questions lined up w/ my research and I knew I was in good hands. The following Monday I got a phone call that the first phase was complete. It took about 45 mins (which Sea View had estimated 16hrs). In a couple of days the entire job was done. Roger kept me informed and gave me good advice. He talked me out of a few things that would have made him more money, but wasnt in my best interest. I HIGHLY recommend.Work: Replaced drive shaft, cutlass bearing, PSS dripless seal without dropping my rudder on my Catalina 34 sailboat.
These guys are amazing. Ive used them a few times for bottom cleaning and zincs. This last time, not only did they manage to squeeze in my last minute request for a cleaning dive during their busiest week, they noticed one of my props was loose ( thanks to a prior vendor I dont use anymore ) and got it tightened back up securely, saving me an easy $3000 issue and a ruined vacation. Thanks guys!
Great to be able to get boat service at our home rather than taking it to a boat yard
Pros at work
Great crew
