Im really happy to have stopped in this shop, I went to a few bookstores in town first that disappointed me. The owner was very helpful, both books I was searching for were in stock, there was a great selection of books and movie at good prices, even classic books in Spanish which we were so excited to find. If I lived in Bend I wouldnt bother with another book store

What a wonderful bookstore! The atmosphere is cozy, friendly and calm. Perfect for a long stroll around the store. So many finds at every turn. I’m so happy that they are open! With so much downtime these days all I want to do is read. The combination of Big Story’s selection and prices can’t be beat. Best bookstore in Bend!

Very clean and well-kept space. Prices are extremely affordable, even on the more rare items! I didnt see a thing over $10 with all the books and movies I was looking at. The selection is vast in both the movies and books. Theres a small selection of CDs. The staff is helpful and kind. Overall a wonderful experience! Thanks!

Owners are friendly and knowledgeable. I really enjoy browsing the book cases for new authors and old favorites.The shop is clean and spacious; easy to keep your social distance.

Good selection, but as with all used book stores it can be hard to find specific books sometimes. Oh well, just another excuse to go back I suppose.

Some of the things i always look for in a book store are atmosphere, selection, and price.Does the book store make me feel like I have just stepped onto a special place? Is it cozy? Exciting? Artsy? Classic?Does the store have a selection of classics? Modern and contemporary books? Childrens? Fiction and non-fiction? What about coverage of the arts, and pastoral literature? Can my kids appreciate the selection, as well as myself? Would a collector be intrigued by whats available?Finally, are the prices reasonable enough that I dont feel any pressure when i bring a stack to the counter?I can honestly, and rather surprisingly say that I was impressed in all 3 of my criterion. I felt that the atmosphere was warm, inviting, intriguing. There was a wonderfully broad selection of books for a diverse audience. And i walked out of the store with several books (having shopped for 4 people), and i spent less than $30.Big story is very much worth a visit.

If you are a buyer: 5 stars for the impressive collection of books and DVDs. The store is extremely well organized and the owner keeps the junk out.If you are seller: 0 stars for the misleading information on the website regarding the prices they are willing to pay for used items. Very disappointing, and in my opinion, dishonest.Website says they will pay 20% to 50% of what they will sell an item for. Recent items can fetch substantially more.They gave me $2 each for two high quality, high demand DVD sets. (Breaking Bad and Godfather). When I revisited the store today, those were priced at $15 and $20 respectively.I was offered $1 each for several well known business books (M. Gladwell). They are selling them for $6.I was offered $2 and $3 each for several NY Times Bestsellers (hardbacks) from 2020 and 2019. Where was the substantially more for recent, top-sellers.I was a fool to trust them. In the future, Ill give my books (library) or DVDs (Blockbuster) away before I go back to this store.

Love this bookstore! So glad Bend finally has a legitimate place to purchase tangible books (aside from a major chain)! Organized, clean, with a fantastic variety of new and used books to choose from - all very reasonably priced! Friendly staff, great light and a few chairs to read in - I could spend all my time there. Excited to see it become a permanent part of Bend!

I was looking forward to going into the Big Story. However, I was disappointed in all ways. They only take books in pristine condition-no cracks or creases in the spine. Um, you are a USED bookstore, not Barnes and Noble. You offered me $8 in-store credit, $5 cash. You stated in reply to a review that you give 50% of the cash price with in-store credit. So, I should have been offered $10 in-store credit. Well organized, but the salesperson and the entire store felt cold and non welcoming. I took the rest of my books to the Open Book across the street and have $30 of in-store credit. I find Open Book to be a perfect used bookstore-I love the fact that many others have read the very book that Im holding in my hand-instead of a brand new pristine copy. Also, the prices were VERY HIGH. I wont be taking my business to Big Story. Big Disappointment.

Nice modern space with a nice variety of books, movies,audio books as well as a great kids to young adult selection.Several cozy chairs to kick back & read a few pages.My favourite thing about The Big Story bookstore is a really unique wave of books outlighn the store w/ colors of bookends fading into the next.I prefer to shop here vs other book stores in Bend. And finally the best part is the prices!Ps. They also buy books outright or trade from vintage to current ☝

Great used book store in central Oregon! Sadly, there are very few of them here. That said this store is really nicely organized, with books 📚 that are in great condition. Average price for a paperback is $4-10 depending on the books condition so it can get spendy.

Setting foot in such a place as Big Story that smells of delicious old books and where the walls are covered with a rainbow of books is like home away from home. In my opinion, there should be more seating areas as there is only a couple of chairs in the whole place. But books are generally great prices and theres a good selection, too.

Sounds like they got rid of the gal that could not look up book stores in N Hollywood, Burbank and West Hollywood. The service was absolutely terrible back 2018😲 if you cant look up the location of other book stores, how can you look up books period 😱😱🤪

Great used and new book store. Found exactly what I was looking for and very knowledgeable and helpful staff. You can tell the store is really taken care of and I loved the decor! Very cool.

I like books. Ill read on my iPad or Kindle too, but books are rad. If you read as much as my wife and I do, the last thing you want to do is pay full price for a book. Big Story is a clean, open, well-lighted place to choose a few new roads. The prices are low (between $6-$8 per book) and they have some great titles. I have to commend the buyer because I picked up some amazing books for less than $40.

Found a book I have been thinking of buying, in great shape, and about 1/4 the list price!

They took a lot of 10 books, (worth about 3$ used a piece online, so a total of $30) they gave me two bucks, and no chance to take my business elsewhere before they were on the shelf. was talked down to, would not go again.

Just visited for the first time today. They have a wonderful childrens section, with new and used books, including kids series like How to Train Your Dragon, with reasonable prices. Very welcoming and easy to find adult books as well.

Best used book store in Central Oregon. Great collection of fiction, art books and graphic novels. They rotate books from their other shop in LA.

Had a few bad experiences here, but today needed a negative review. Whoever was working on Aug 22nd posted a sign saying closed from 3 to 3:30 and they didnt return until 4:15. She acted like it was no big deal and did not apologize until I made a purchase. She said sorry you had to wait instead of something like sorry I closed the store and was 45 minutes late. During that time, 9 potential customers came to the store and left. This will probably be the last time I visit

Went in with several totes of good used books. They sorted through them and bought a few. The rest I donated to a thrift store. I looked around while there. They seem to be going for quality not so much quantity on the books they have. The strore is divided into carious generes. They also have a small collection of used DVD s for sale.

Probably my favorite bookstore in the area, I found some hard to find books here a while ago

It’s a place of warm ness when you first enter the store you hear a voice that welcomes Hi ..... what a great feeling and I have been to many book stores and they are cold and really in friendly .....and don’t want to be bugged when going to there counter to buy something, Big story is a very nice place to shop and very friendly too they have a great lay out of the store nice and clean and there shelf’s are not dusty like other book stores, they really know how to stock the book selfs with good books . they are so nice there I wish more stores in bend where this friendly . it’s a real gem of a placehow do you give this store 300 starsthey have great picks of dvds great prices too ......I am very happy shopping there
