Good store to get South Asian food stuff. Found some items expired. Also the products dont have price labels, so everytime you have to ask the store owner for the price. Items are a bit expensive but ofcourse at least theyre available.

A1 is attached to the Taj Tandoor restaurant. I believe it is run by the same family, which would make a lot of sense as they already import Indian ingredients for the restaurant.They stock all kinds of speciality Indian ingredients. Ponni rice, paneer, curry leaves, snacks and ready to eat products like Parle G, hide and seek, Maggi, Chings, Haldirams, MTR, coconut flakes, mint, coriander, naan, chappatis.On Saturdays, they cut fresh halal meat. If you go by midday, I hear, they have the freshest cuts. The (younger?) son is usually at the counter serving customers. Hes very helpful and suggests great substitutions when you cant find the exact ingredient you need. They also carry onions, tomatoes, chilies, garlic, ginger and a few other seasonal veg from India.Theyre a great neighborhood alternative to the big supermarkets. Youd be getting your hands on a ingredients that you wont find at a regular grocery store and supporting a small business. Win-win :)

Since Birmingham has handful of South Asian stores, you dont get much choice interns grocery. This shop is quite costly. One can drive to Scranton to get grocery makes which would be much economical and also you will get variety.

I once went here to buy oxtail and was told that I had to pay more than thirty dollars to get pieces that were not all bone.Coercing me like that is not for good business and I will never do business with them again.
