If I could give 10 Stars, I would! I love this place! This is a hidden gem. The people they have now are Super Friendly and always willing to go that extra mile to make sure you and your family are safe and have everything you need. They have some new faces up there and I know personally from going up there, they help you out with the loading/unloading of the boats if you need help. I could go on for days guys, but trust me, go visit this place and have a beautiful time on the water! The prices are fair. The hours are great! You wont regret it! The new lady at the front office desk is amazing! The new girl that helps on the outside is amazing! And the new manager is amazing as well! They all are! God bless. - Brian

Had a wonderful time. Very quite even on a holiday weekend. Just ordered a simple, no motor, boat and tooled around the lake. Pretty landscape also offered a wonderful breeze. We will definitely go back!!

Terrible place! Our puppy was followed and terrorized by several dogs running lose, owned by staff. The dock was sunk and going sideways; made it scary and unsafe to load the boat. Then after about 5 minutes, the pantoon boat simply shut itself off and broke down. Could not get it started again. Called and they told us they were busy and will be a while before they can tow us. Finally after a while we got towed; too late to get another boat. Staff could not provide a printed receipt; said the refund receipt will send itself via email. After waiting for the Email for a while it did not post. So we demanded a refund receipt and they wrote one out by hand. Receipt does not have the business label. It’s a completely blank refund receipt. We asked the staff member to put her name on the receipt. Terrible experience for our kids to go through, crying and sad.

Nice local tackle shop. They have worms, crickets, and minnows as well as a decent selection of hard and soft plastics. They rent small Jon boats with or with out motors. You can also rent a small pontoon if you want to take the family. The lake has so good fishing if you know where to go. The Crappie fishing is good once you get off the beaten path. It is a nice lake close to town for a lazy day on the water.

I grew up fishing at lake purdy, Along with my family and some friends.I had gotten to watch on television several pro fisherman catch really good fish there as well.Please just remember that it is called Fishing not catching for a reason. Do enjoy your visit and Family time there.

I live 10 minutes away and I fish this place a lot I personally fish for bass and crappie more than any other species but this lakes holds other fish like carp, catfish and stripped bass, you cant bring your own boat but you can rent a boat there they have fishing boats, kayaks and pontoons highly recommend this place!!

Excellent lake for many species with many walking trails and a great option for boat rentals. Unfortunately carp are starting to take over and are eating much of the vegitation, I hope something will be done about this before it has negative affects.Please ignore the negative reviews for not catching fish. My friends and I catch plenty of fish and most catch and release. There is truly no reason to rate below 5 stars....it has it all, beauty, tons of fish, great wildlife, good structure for the fish, nice employees and sufficient rentals.

This lake is absolutely beautiful. Great place to fish for crappie. The local marinas are very friendly as well and very affordable.

Nice place to fish. Has nice bait and tackle shop. Cant bring your own boat but they have fishing boats to rent for a good price. Closed on mondays. Saw deer, cranes, squirrels, geese, hawks in the woods while trolling.

Good place to fish or just relax on the water. No private boats allowed, but you can rent a boat at a decent price. Bait shop fully equipped with all your fishing needs.

This place is so beautiful. I would recommend going at 530 pm to rent a kayak. Although I wish they were free 15 dollars for 2 hours isnt that bad. They close at 730 so its the perfect golden hour to show up at 530. Lake purdy also has great fishing holes so be sure to give that a shot too!

When fishing with my son, my wife and a friend. Only caught one small fish and a couple of other people on the lake were very non courteous but thats not on the lake staff. We rented a boat and had a very pleasant overall experience

My absolute favorite quick get away! Cant beat going to Lake Purdy on the weekend, renting a boat, and spend time with your family and friends. We have even rented a pontoon from lake Purdy! The price are very reasonable for boat rentals. There customer service is excellent! Good clean place to fish. A must go place for the Birmingham area! FYI... they dont want you to swim in their Lake due to the fact that it is the local county drinking supply is what I was told by employees at one vist.

Lake Purdy is on of my favorite places to fish, I just wish there where more places around the lake to bank fish.

This is a wonderful lake with a very helpful crew, in the bait shop and outside. They are so accommodating with my family since we are from out of town and don’t fish much. The girl in the shop got a kid outside to come recommend the correct bait so my boys could catch their first fish while visiting their grandparents.The African American gentleman who showed us to our boat made sure we were comfortable with the boat since this was our first time on one. He put our fears to rest. He started talking to the kids and gave us very helpful info and areas to drive the boat to for good fishing spots. It worked because we all caught fish! I did not have cash on me but I’m definitely tipping extra next time. Seems everyone here works very hard, I don’t know how they keep up but everyone seems to work together.Great trip and great service, even though they were so busy that we could hardly find a place to park, but we received excellent service despite that fact. We will be back the next time we visit family in town.Thank you for sharing such a beautiful lake with the public. We will return! -JW

This is a great hidden treasure only about 20 minutes away from downtown. It’s a great convenient spot to get away from all the hustle. Go rent a boat, buy or bring your fishing gear and spend some time on the lake. We loved it! I love the bait shop and the guys who work there were great.

Total monopoly!Public lake with the only launch site! They will hunt you down if they see you on your own boat. They will try to get you to pay for their high priced rental boats and rods.They say you are not allowed to swim due to this being a fresh water source. Honestly my toilet water is cleaner than their lake.... They literally use gas powered boats in their so called fresh water supply makes total sense, right...?

We were in the area looking at different fishing spots and fell in love with this place. We will be getting a boat and hitting some better spots but its so pretty and quiet

This place is a scam! The people are very nice and informative at the shop. The lake however is shut off to bank fishing. I moved to the area (from out of state) because I thought this would be a great place to fish based on satellite images. I was wrong the lake has great access points online but in person all the roads are shut down. You can maybe fish 1/16th of the lake from the shore. Otherwise you have to rent a boat and again the people at the shop are very nice and do their jobs well. It is a terrible place to fish without a boat. The dam is completely off limits every access point other than the entrance is closed. The reasoning for why you cant bank fish is unknown. Avoid this place at all cost unless you intend to spend close to 100$ a day.

This was a really nice place. We went fishing and got on a boat. Fishing was free and the boat was around $45. We fished around the lake and caught bass, catfish and crappies.

Going this Saturday for the first time. Hoping I can catch some nice size Crappies. Bringing my kids fishing on a boat for the very first time. I hope the boats are reliable too. Would suck if one broke down. but guys, this is a fishing lake, not a rapid river....to these crazy comments.

Terrible Experience! Took my boat in to have work done on my Nissan Outboard Motor. I was told that it would take about 1 -2 weeks for the issue to be fixed. Ended up taking 3.5 weeks to get the boat back. They did not order part because technician went out of town and waited until he got back to order part. I asked if they tested motor out when I went to pick it up, they said yes, and assured me that everything was repaired. So, I took my boat out and it overheated again, the problem was not fixed and almost got stranded on lake, luckily I was able to get back to ramp with trolling motor. Turns out they replaced impeller but did not replace cotter key. Which evidently is something that you should not forget to do if you knew what you were doing. I called the owner Ken and asked for my money back and he said no that he wanted to fix the issue. I told him there is no way that I would ever let work on my boat again after the lousy experience. I ended up letting Alabama Marine fix my motor and the technician over there said that there was no excuse for the mistake made. Long story short, dont take your boat motor to be serviced! It will take too long and it probably wont be done right and if it isnt done right, they will not give your money back!! Super Shady and terrible customer service!

Friendly people is why Im giving this 3 stars. Fishing isnt that great for the skill level of average weekend family man. You cant use your own boat, while theirs are a little high priced.
