Decent place for breakfast and coffee - I had an egg and bacon sandwich on rosemary focaccia bread and a cappuccino. It was pretty good, but a little skimpy on the bacon. Its best attribute is being open early on a Sunday morning. Staff very cheerful and friendly.
This is the best coffee in Blacksburg without a doubt. The staff are super friendly and efficient, atmosphere is great. Highly recommend!
Wide selection of coffees and teas. Good espresso. Breakfast sandwiches are pretty good.
Deliberately asked for a small chai, had a conversation with the clerk about getting medium or small. They charge us for and serve us a Large.Parents coffees.. One was cold, one was too hot, gave us to go cups when we asked for here.Coffee tasted alright at best.Wouldnt recommend going here with high standards.
The quality of the coffee is great, the atmosphere is cozy, and the staff is pleasant. Indoor and outdoor seating present and adequate. Overall a nice place to relax and have a cup of coffee.
Food is good but wait is really unacceptable. Over an hour for our order. When we finally got it, part of order was missing
Best coffee in town. Period. No competition. Roast all their beans in house. Really nice staff. Pure coffee shop atmosphere. Doesnt get better than that.
The coffee is really good, waiters are greatBut Why are you guys still using styrofoam when its not recyclable and gonna stay forever in a landfill ?Why not regular cups ?It is very hard to understand knowing the consequences of those behaviors for our planet and for our generation
Vanilla espresso cooler is one of the best coffee drinks Ive ever had! Also, I would also recommend trying their cream cheese pastries
Great little local joint. Expedient and cheerful service with good freshly roasted coffee.
While Mill Mountain is a quite decent coffee shop overall, I felt the need to edit my review from 5 stars to 3 after the very small, lukewarm oatmeal serving I got today. Ive also had a few encounters with rude and somewhat lazy staff, though Id say the majority of the staff is very attentive and friendly.
Cute coffee shop with great coffee.
Excellent customer service and great food and coffee
Great smell can I take it with me ☺️ great service and too many options for me Ill have to come back more than 100 times. 💯👍
Good aesthetic for doing work or going on a date. Fresh coffee and lots of options.
Best quick grab-n-go coffee shop.
Very friendly staff, amazing coffee.
Better coffee in town, sandwiches and whole beans. The roast is noticeably milder than Starbucks, plus the breakfast sandwiches are made fresh to order on avariety of breads. Recommended, park in back.
This is by far my favorite coffee shop, the girl at the front with purple hair seems so genuinely happy to be there and was soo nice to me. I love this place.
This is purely a reflection of the styrofoam that mill mountain uses. I consistantly work in Mill Mountain. It has a good atmosphere, nice staff and decent espresso. However in the time I have been living and working in Blacksburg, I have seen the management shift to styrofoam cups despite the obvious impact this has on the environment. I have never ordered a thing to go yet I recieved my drink in a strofoam cup with a plastic lid neither of which can be recycled in the Blacksburg municipality. I am happy to change my review if the management will shift away from its use of styrofoam to atleast a recycled paper product.
Normally I would have smacked a five-star on here because they have a great whole beans selection but during the pandemic, I cant. The credit card reader is at a table in front of the counter to keep distance, I get that. But short people cannot reach the touch screen to sign. And why do we still have a touch screen during a pandemic? No stylus in sight and no hand-sanitizer on the counter either.
Coffee and tea with space to work. Inexpensive
Great coffee and cider. Breakfast sandwiches were filling. Rosemary bread was a nice touch
Neat little place
I love local coffee shops and Mill Mountain always has an interesting and diverse selection of food, coffees, teas, and handmade drinks. Ive always had good experiences here except when placing a large order for pick-up.I was a graduate student at Virginia Tech and placed an order for group servings of coffee and cider for the day I was defending my thesis. As most know, this is an incredibly stressful time and I purposefully called 2 weeks in advance to place this order. I called twice to check in because I was anxious for this to be right. The day of picking up my 8:30 AM order, I was told it was not ready and it was marked for 12 pm pick-up even thought two people on the phone confirmed the 8:30 AM time.I was lucky my husband was able to stay and get the order while I went on campus to prepare for my defense. The employees were apologetic and quickly worked to get it ready, but none of my atendees were able to get refreshments prior to my defense and my husband arrived 15 minutes after I started my presentation. After talking to other graduate students, this is not a one-time incident. This is a warning to those who may place a large order to allow for extra time as your order may not be ready when you want it.
Their iced coffee should be banned along with water boarding as a form of torture. No amount of milk and sugar can erase the intense bitterness. It tastes like a cruel joke
Pretty packed but awesome coffee, good prices, and fast service
Best coffee shop experience I have ever had. They are my gold standard that I compare all others to when I travel.
I really enjoyed the feel of this place and that they had a hot tea offering that was steeped and in a carafe, ready to pour. We even ordered breakfast sandwiches, which were good, they were just a little on the dry side. A couple sauce options for breakfast sandwiches would be a nice touch!
I liked this place a lot but its very hipster and the service could be more friendly. The cashier allowed a women to cut in front of my friend and I and we both agreed we caught a snobbish vibe. I would still go back though because they have quality products there and I love coffee. Their tea was fabulous.
Really cool joint. Plenty of options, both food and beverage. I had a reasonably priced (rare among coffee shops) iced dirty-chai latte and a scone. Decor was cool, too. Had a big ole roaster right there when you walk in. More form over function, I suppose, but Ill leave that question to the aesthetes. College-kids: go here for some solid study-time and maybe a little commiserating about how busy/tired you are.
Best place to study in Blacksburg. Good food, amazing coffee, and a great atmosphere. It can be hard to find a table, but thats my only complaint.
Cool coffee shop!
Best coffee East of the Mississippi
I come here at least once a week. They have the best ambiance and great coffee for their prices. Their breakfast sandwiches are good too. Cant recommend enough!
Perfect coffee shop for those who are not into the trendy places. It is simply a casual atmosphere with no attempts to be fancy or modern but simply provide a good, clean space to drink your beverage, do work, talk with your friends, etc. Plus, it is usually either quiet or there is enough ambient noise that it just seems like white noise. They have several brews you can get by the cup that change daily, the standard specialty drinks, and a huge loose-leaf tea selection, which is what I like the most.
Quaint little local coffee shop with great variety.
I went here not really knowing what to expect. All of the tables, whether for two or four people, each have one person with a laptop and all of their gear taking up the entire table. The menus are rediculous with too many choices and too many flavor add-ins available. It looked more like a menu for a sno-cone stand. The drinks are tasty but as an outsider I did not feel welcome inside.
Dont drink coffee, but am told it is good. They roast the beans on site in the morning. This is the locals hangout; lots of repeat customers. I go weekly for the wonderful atmosphere in which to do work. Excellent sandwiches and hot tea!
Great local coffee shop within walking distance of campus. Serves both coffee and tea. I believe they roast their own coffee beans, which is for sale in whole bean and ground. They are proceed pretty fair too!
If you are a coffee enthusiast, you may not be satisfied with the quality. I ordered 1 2-shot espresso and 1 coffee latte today. The latte was too thin with ice melted too fast, and it came with kind of obvious bitter taste. The single-origin was what disappointed me the most. They are not really just brewed quality coffee but Americano stored in a container. The staffs were very nice though. They answered my questions patiently.
Hands down my favorite coffee shop Ive ever tried. Nothing compares to the quality and flavor of their coffee. highly recommend to anyone in the Blacksburg area.
I just paid $2.60 for a medium coffee because I had to use my credit card. What a stupid rule! I can understand a few cents per credit transaction but $0.50 on a $2.00 cup of coffee?? I had already waited in line before I saw the little post-it taped to the counter. Thanks for the heads up! That should be posted on the door next to OPEN.So, what does a $2.60 cup of coffee taste like? It tastes like instant coffee from Kroger. That will be the last time for me.
Im all for supporting a local coffee shop but frankly the quality here is only mediocre. There doesnt seem to be a lot of pride in the fact that they are both a roastery and cafe (when I requested a single origin my barista had no idea what I was talking about). Serviceable coffee, better than the chains but by no means the best available.
Quality coffee. Fast service!
The roasted coffees are sold by weight, and they are fresh and delicious. I think you get a pound free if you buy two, but I cant remember exactly.Friendly staff, clean store, and lots of tables (usually full) to lounge at. Great atmosphere.
Visiting family for Thanksgiving and decided to drop into my favorite coffee shop in Blacksburg. Ive always loved MMC, but my experience this time was the worst Ive ever experienced. There were roughly 8 or 9 people inside (day before Thanksgiving, no surprise), and I stood at the counter for over 5 minutes with no reaction by the staff. The creepy white guy, fat brown girl with glasses, and the short white girl never said a word to me, and wouldnt even meet my eyes. Have you ever stood and been ignored for 5 minutes? It is an eternity. In the end, I walked the extra mile to Starbucks and got objectively bad coffee there, but at least their staff acknowledged my existence. Tip to management: customers trying to buy coffee like it when staff will sell coffee to them.
Huge selection of bulk coffee and tea. Latte and drip coffee were great, as well as the egg sandwich. Limited breakfast menu. Docking a star because they were out of granola after order was placed.
Very nice and quiet place and the theme is original with that old big coffee roaster and coffee beans bags around itI like it
I love Mill Mountain Coffee Shop because they offer a great variety of coffees and teas to choose from. Theyre food, although limited, is delicious and reasonably price. Whats best however is the customer service.
Came to Mill Mountain one night for dinner because I was really in the mood for a coffee and it was late on a Sunday, with really no other coffee shops open. Love that this place has late hours- which is nice for people who live nearby, and for the college students who go there to study/do work. The place itself is smaller than I expected, tucked away under a building, but the food was awesome. I got a salad and three cheese grilled cheese and a regular coffee, and it really hit the spot. The coffee was pretty good, although my fiance, who got a latte, was much better in comparison. I do wish they had more vegetarian options, but overall the experience was good. The staff was friendly and made adjustments to my order as asked. Would recommend!
Great coffee, good simple breakfast food. Nice place to hang out.
Wonderful selection of teas at a great price! Its also nice how if you order a tea to drink on site they put it in glass rather than giving you a plastic cup. Yay for sustainability!
Love this place! It can get crowded but well worth any wait or feeling a little cramped. Great coffee, tea, and simple food options
Nice quiet coffee shop in the heart of Blacksburg. They offer a great selection of in house roasted coffees as well as dozens of teas. Highly recommend to anyone who wants a better alternative to Starbucks.
A favorite local coffee shop!Great coffee and tea (try their green tea). Staff are friendly and nice
I was unimpressed. Maybe my coffee expectations are higher than I realize. I drink coffee with a little cream. I was given a blend, unaware of some of the single bean options.
Overpriced, coffee wasnt very good. Lot of pretentious workers and patrons. Our cashier got pretty snippy and sarcastic with me when I stated we had never been there before. Uncomfortable seating. Wont be back.
The place has an old world charm and NY cheesecake is really awesome. One of the best places for cheesecake. Besides that they have a wide variety of deserts, tea and coffee. It has a set of sandwiches too with quite a few vegetarian options besides the breakfast sandwhich menu.
Best latte ever! If youre not into all the baked goods they will make you a protein breakfast bowl....eggs, veggie sausage, cheddar and tomatoes. It was delish! Quaint environment where I meet the most interesting people. Love to come sit and hang out with my awesome hubster too.
The best coffee I have ever had! I have been a customer for the past 10 years and I have no complaints! Excellent coffee, great customer service! French Vanilla coffee is my favorite :) If you need a great cup of joe this is the place to get it!
Great coffee! Very good flavor, and reasonable prices. Love the art on the walls and the general atmosphere.
Outstanding coffee every time and no matter what I try!
Great place to chill. Good breakfast sandwiches. Amazing coffee. Provided me my (very much needed) caffeine through college. Open till 10!
Great food and coffee. Staff really pleasant. Very college atmosphere. Prices are not bad either.
Mill Mountain is my favorite coffee shop in Blacksburg! I love the smell of coffee roasting and the ample tables and outlets. Service is fairly fast and I love that they have multiple coffees on hand. However, it can be very warm inside and its usually very crowded.
It was okay. Wish I knew that the iced tea wasnt sweet
Get your coffee beans here, fresh roasted
Great place for some good coffee, and getting your work done enjoying the calm traditional cafe ambience. Love the latte here !!
Coffee is not that good…
Coffee is great, tea is great.. but the hot chocolate definitely needs work. Great place to work / write in peace.
Best coffee shop in town. Great home-roasted blends, solid food, and a great atmosphere for getting some work done. Always reliably fast wifi
The cups say Good coffee is common, excellent coffee is rare. and this coffee is neither of those things. The atmosphere is nice though and the staff are friendly
This is the go-to spot for my hubs if he wants to have a good conversation with someone during the day, free refill on the house mug is always a bonus.
Average coffee shop with good service and a nice atmosphere. The coffee was good but not super amazing.
Lots of room to make yourself comfortable - nice atmosphere. Good struedels and bagels.
All of coffee and tea that offer is good and you can enjoy seeing roast
Cute place, great atmosphere, good service, just outside of the VT campus.
A great little Main Street cafe. Excellent beverages, baked goods, and light lunch options. Cozy place to meet a friend.
Great coffee and food but can be hard to find seating.
Good coffee, food, service, and people. Worth the 12 minute detour from the interstate. Will definitely come back again.
A cozy shop to just relax, grab food or a drink and talk with friends. Great place to just destress and do work!
Great coffee. Great space to work, if you can get a table. Busy in the mornings.
Wow! What a quaint place! Amazing ambiance. Loved it!!
My favorite place to study and do work off campus, plus the coffee is amazing!
Did not go
Other than the low prices this place is terrible. Cashiers were rude and not helpful. Coffee was not mixed well and was worse than something I could make at home. The website lied about breakfast options, there was only breakfast sandwiches. When the sandwich came it was made wrong and didnt even taste good. Not going there again, better coffee at Starbucks, better breakfast at McDonalds.
God must have personally Blessed this coffee shop.... 🙏
Good price and good food. The coffee/lattes are rather meh, but not bad. Free wifi is nice, and next to campus.
Great variety of teas and drinks. Good as atmosphere to study in 👍 friendly employees
