This is a top notch provider of vision care. The optometrists are very knowledgeable and take the time to listen to patients, answering questions and addressing any concerns. The opticians are skillful and friendly, always ready to help. The shop is small enough to provide personal service, but they have the latest technology to make an eye exam comfortable and convenient while providing of clinical information inform the doctors. The selection of frames is amazing, and the opticians know just how to help you find exactly the right frame for you.

She explains every step of the visit and the place itself is welcoming and professional. Reception is helpful in all things insurance/prescriptions/glasses and contact procurement. Highly recommend. Ive been going to South End Eye for about 3-4 years and my yearly appointment recently. The new COVID precautions made me feel safe, but did not stop me from feeling comfortable during my appointment.

Great service, thoroughly modern top-of-the-line equipment housed in a charming brownstone. Everyone was great, knowledgeable, and gave options so I never felt pressured to take an extra test or update glasses lens like I have with other eye care businesses. Covid protocol was easy AND all ‘paperwork’ is filled out ahead of time on an app.And, this is my quirk,, they did NOT knock or complain about the work my previous provider did; indeed they complimented the optician on my tricky frame fit. I hate when providers - stylists, dentists, doctors, etc - bash on previous providers in a purely negative way instead of just being honest that the work wasn’t up to their standards. I think it speaks volumes how this can be handled and South End Eye was lovely in this regard.

Dr. Laura is perhaps one of the best eye docs I’ve had in years, and I’ve moved around quite a few times. She’s honest, efficient, friendly, seem very experienced, what I would expect from a great eye doc. I enjoyed my visit.

I searched around online last week due to severe blurry vision. I knew all appointments due to COVID-19 were hard to come by. South End Eye gave me a 1pm appointment due to a cancellation and the service was great. I was worried about my eyes due to family history of diabetes and the OD was patient and attentive to my needs. I had a great eye exam with no serious issues and my RX was so far off I purchased a pair of glasses from them. Cant wait for them to arrive. They were able to use my Davis Vision insurance and Eye Med but do not sell Davis Vision glasses which was fine. You can still use your FSA if you choose or take your RX to a Davis Vision provider. I highly recommend this place due to great customer service, clean environment, and social distancing measures. I will definitely go again.

Honestly, South End Eye (SEE, creatively), is the best eye doctor office in Boston. I have always had a great experience and recommend to anyone looking for an eye doctor.

Terrific eye exam. I was able to schedule it easily online and they took me right on time. The people were very professional and friendly, and explained the results very clearly. They offer a “high tech” alternative to having your eyes dilated, which is fabulous in being essentially non-invasive and you can go about your day immediately after you finish.

My retina specialist left her practice, so I booked an appointment with a new specialist at Mass Eye and Ear. Covid interrupted that appointment. When my husband made an appointment to upgrade his prescription, I asked if South End Eye could do the required investigation of my retina which has been affected by macular degeneration. The doctor was clear that they could do the check up but would have to send me to a specialist if more treatments were required. Both my husband and I were impressed with the time spent and the care that was taken about safety. I had a very thorough explanation of the state of each eye, which was reassuring. South End Eye is also extremely convenient, so I hope that fine local services like this will continue.

I have been a patient of Dr. Martins for years, and now my husband and daughter see her as well. She is a fantastic doctor and a lovely person. Making appointments online is very easy and everyone in the office and the store is great as well. A true neighborhood gem!

If you live in the South End then I hope you have the opportunity to get your eye exams at SEE. I originally found them online when searching for an new eye doctor after moving to Boston and I like them so much that I sometimes go in just to try on glasses for fun and pet the dog. For a tiny, uncluttered storefront they manage to have a lot of options for frames. Everyone is very friendly and informative. There is help available anytime I need but they also create an environment that makes me feel comfortable spending time on my own to try on as many frames as I want. My annual eye exams always seem thorough and I can tell they review my history because they sometimes ask question about things Ive had concerns with in the past. It is a reassuring when your doctors are paying attention to the details. Much appreciated!

Been going to SEE for about three years and would HIGHLY recommend it! Mary, Michelle & Dr. Martin (and the rest of the staff) have always taken care of me. I always feel like Im getting the best care and advice and appreciate how they take the time and effort to go above and beyond. If eye care and style are important to you, this is the place to go. I have been wearing glasses/contacts since I was in 8th grade (20 years ago!) and I have never had such a complete eye exam, and in a very comfortable neighborhood office setting with a clear sense of care and pride in all the staffs work. Everything was thoroughly explained, staff were all so friendly, doctor was awesome and so knowledgeable....I am very happy to have found South End Eye! Plus they take my insurance! Incredible. I was in Boston for work and forgot extra contacts at home. I called them and they immediately told me they would help me. I stopped by and quickly had a few days worth of contacts in order to survive my trip. Surprisingly, they didnt charge me anything. I offered to but they declined saying, this is what we do. We help people and we are happy we were able to be help you. Still astounded at how great the service was.

I would recommend South End Eye for eye exams, contacts and a great selection of frames. They custom make frames to fit your face! I have had a great experience with learning to use contact lenses. Dr Laura is professional and patient. I did not have an easy time getting used to the contacts, she was very helpful with tips and a few follow up visits. I have also been impressed with the quick turn around in replacing the lenses in some older almost vintage sunglasses.

Also, not too long ago that little nose piece fell off one of my older pair of glasses. I took them in (without an appointment) and while I sat and waited my eye glasses were fixed, cleaned and returned to me in perfect condition. Service is always friendly and professional.

My eye history is pretty complicated, so Im always a bit nervous about going to a new optometrist. However, the service I received at my first appointment at South End Eye was far beyond what I expected. I went in to have a regular eye exam and to order glasses that replace my RGPs+glasses that I wear now, so that I have options other than wearing contacts all the time. Marisol ran all of my tests quickly and confidently, despite the fact that my eyes both have nystagmus and shake on their own, which has made it difficult for technicians to get test results in the past. The optometrist, Amanda, was very professional and discussed with me the results of my tests, which was great. I especially enjoyed seeing the composite image of the inside of my eye, which was so detailed that it showed floaters. Some of my doctors in the past have been secretive about whats going on with me and dont share info, even when I ask, and even when its good news. But that wasnt the case here - I learned a lot by checking out my test results. The staff at the desk was also very professional and considerate, as was the woman who fitted me for my glasses (Im sorry I cant remember their names...). Best of all, the glasses I ordered are giving me the best vision Ive ever had in both of my eyes. I cant wait to pick them up and am really thankful that I found South End Eye. The Google reviews are no joke - they really are that good.
