I am sad that this place is going out of business. They always had the best costumes anywhere hands down. I would drive up from Denver to get stuff from them. So much love to Debra for so many great years in business.

I like this place. Tremendous range of costume stuff, most at very reasonable prices. They have some pieces that are of better quality, so you dont look only at one-use Halloween items. We host quite a few costume events at the Avalon, and Ive been able to devise good costumes by purchasing a few items here to enhance thrift store clothing. Ive found the staff (generally in fun-quirky dress) to be helpful and nice on every visit. I advise not waiting to the last minute (before Halloween, for example) to shop. Then the place gets packed and that is when the staff is harried. I believe they have a all-sales-final policy (which makes sense), so be sure that your item is right for you. I found a minor problem with my most recent purchase - which I was able to remedy fairly easily and turned out better in the end - but I should have opened the bag before paying for the item. This is the best place to shop for costume items in Boulder because of its vast inventory. There is another costume shop in Boulder that rents costumes, if that is what you need.

Huge selection of costumes, wigs, accessories makeup. Prices in the off season are INCREDIBLE. Cant recommend it enough. Go buy something fun and awesome.

Ive been shopping at this store for a LONG time now (even before they moved into their current location). During that time Ive purchased: many wigs, dozens of costumes, a wide variety or theatrical and airbrush makeup and all sorts of accessories. During all that time, everyone Ive dealt with (including the owner) has been helpful, polite and fun. For costumes, makeup and the occasional whimsical purchase, I recommend this store very highly.

Its a treasure of a place here in Boulder, and the staff is very helpful. Why I went in today: Ive been struggling to find a good Halloween costume. I looked online on a lot of different sites, and just really wanted to be able to try something on. Last year, I bought a pretty cheap outfit online, and it didnt even make it through a night of trick or treating. So, I went into the Theatrical Costume place today, and was helped through the process of finding a great costume. I wont say what it was, but its really nice. I wanted something very high quality that I could re-use. I wound up buying a few extra accessories, too. (However, I was the one upsetting myself, not them.) Anyway - I really like the selection that they have, and Im super impressed with how helpful the staff is.

Unbelievable experience. This business blew me away with their level of customer service. I walked in and needed a last minute costume. They checked their inventory in-store and after realizing they didnt have what I was asking for in-store, they told me they would search through their storage at a different location. When they asked me when I needed the costume by I told them I needed it by tonight but I had to work until 8 PM, which is after they close. Not only did they search through their storage for my silly costume request, they also offered to deliver it to my place of work that same day. Unbelievably, later on that evening, in the middle of a rainstorm, they stuck to their word and delivered my costume at my place of work. I was completely blown away by their level of customer service and their willingness to go out of the way to fulfill my request. I highly recommend this costume store. The owners are incredible, interesting to talk to, their inventory is great, prices are fair, and they are more than happy to get you what you need when you need it. Thanks a bunch!!!

I went in looking for something to wear to the 40s winter ball. I had not idea what I was looking for. Luckily, Jeremy asked if i needed help and guided me to find the perfect outfit for the night. This place rocks. Their selection is ridiculous. Theyve got everything, and if its not available there, youre probably just going to have to make it yourself. The staff are so nice and helpful without being clingy. I love going in there just to look around and see all of the cool stuff they have. Seriously awesome. Go there, even if you dont have costuming needs. They have all sorts of cool an interesting stuff to browse through.

It was my first time coming in the store and I was blown away! The selection was great and the employees were friendly and helpful. It was busy and a little hectic, but that is expected for Halloween I am sure. I had to wait a little while to be helped and to be check out at the end. Overall, it was worth it because I found the PERFECT costume for my party. Thank you to the whole store!!

Debra and staff were incredibly generous about sponsoring my school for a project. They provided beautiful historical costumes that added so much to the students performances. I was amazed by the multitude of costumes and accessories on site, as well as by the helpfulness of each person I worked with.

This is THE best place to rent or buy costumes and great clothes. Great customer service and high quality with an awesome selection. I have rented several times from them for my rock band, and fans are always amazed at the great things we wear on stage....it adds so much to our performance that we keep going back. What Im shocked at, is that they also sell the most phenomenal clothes, all the latest styles, and at great prices. Im going to their store soon to buy some new pieces for my wardrobe. A huge selection of things Id never expected to even look for... The kind of place you can wander around for an hour just finding inspiration. Occasional issues with stock/missing pricing but overall a magical experience.

If you have a party they have the costume! I love just coming here to explore coming up with ideas for playing dress up! The new location is twice as big as the old one... Bring your kids! Bring your inner kid & have some fun!

Theatrical Costumes is an amazing place to rent or buy costumes, wigs, fascinators, hats, tights, and accessories--definitely the best place in Boulder and probably for miles around. They have a very large selection, and some of the most unique outfits and costumes Ive ever seen. The staff was so very helpful and kind. Im a model, and the helpfulness astounded me. They helped with my concept and outfit ideas, assisted me in the dressing room, and their rates are extremely reasonable. I wouldnt shop anywhere else!! I will be returning time and time again. Theyre the best!!

It was my first time in this store. I had heard good things about it so I was excited to visit. I went in the Saturday after Thanksgiving around noon. There was a older female employee with a purple wig. Again, promising. That all changed when the employee approached me. She welcomed me and asked if i needed anything. I told her I was looking. She said to come to her with any questions. about 10 minutes later, I had found a wig I wanted to try on. But when I asked the employee, she abruptly told me I am too busy to help you right now. She was sitting at the register and texting on her phone. I wandered for another 5 minutes, and went back to ask again. This time, she said I have to much to do to help you. Could you come back some other time? This time, she was just folding a dress. There were NO other customers in the store. I asked for her name and she said We are not allowed to give out our names. I will not be entering this business again if that is the kind of employees that they have.

I came back to this store after finding it last year. The staff, once helpful and attentive, were no more. I was in the store for almost 30 minutes and was ignored the whole time. The only employees I could find were busy doing their makeup. When I asked for help, they told me you will just have to wait till Im done With new staff like this, I will not be going back. I will be telling everyone I know to look for a different place. I suggest The Ritz

I love this store! By far my favorite costume store. Every time people visit me, I take them there and theyre always happy with what they find. The staff is very knowledgeable and willing to help.

I am only 12 years old and I walked in and was absolutely amazed there was so many things. I needed a pair of orange tights and the girl helped me right away. Amazing service

They were closed on Saturday and Monday, one day before NYE! Awful business strategy but you can find good costumes and accessories when theyre open!

Decent selection, though a little confusing setup. Most of the employees are helpful, but been in a few times and been helped by an older female employee who comes across abrasive and confusing to the point where she makes me frustrated have to leave the store. I make a point to go to another employee as do other people I know. Sara and Molly are the ones I would recommend.

Love the variety of costumes and props, I was able to find some things that it would take me hours to find online if at all! Ill definitely be stopping by again.

The store had great costumes and products but the staff was not helpful at all and they were very aggressive. Including the owner who was super rude and didn’t allow anyone to look in peace. It was frustrating because she kept following us around everywhere.

Been here a few times and I must say that the staff where extreamly helpful. Both Philip and Be bell help both my sister and I to find what we needed.

When I first saw this place open I was a little skeptical. I really love making costumes and have come to become weary of costumes shops as it tends to be third rate costumes or skimpy costumes for University girls to parade around it. The first time I went it I was mildly impressed. There were some pretty great masks and other accessories along with some costumes that I could care less about as I like to make my own. The next time I went back it I went with my roommates and friends. This time we had more time and discovered a back room. Rows of more masks, colored contacts, wigs and even some steampunk. As a cosplayer this was a great resource and we loved trying on all the masks and finding one for each of us. It was great fun. I would recommend it and make sure to check out the back room when you go.

Called to ask if the store had spirit gum. Was told that the store was understaffed and that the person on the line (Paul?) wouldnt look. I was told to come in to look for myself to see if there was any left. I said okay, and was about to ask if they would be open tomorrow, but Paul(?) hung up on me.I have no idea if the store is really that good of a store - I dont really feel inclined to go look in person if the people answering the phone are that unhelpful or rude. Ill probably just go look somewhere else for the spirit gum and costume makeup.

I LOVE this store! My fiance and I went in looking for costumes for an upcoming conventions and there is so much more than just regular costumes in there! They have special effects makeup, Manic Panic hair dye (just in time for the new year!) and really nice wigs. The Zatsune Miku wig was such high quality and extremely moldable. Highly recommend for even beginner cosplayers and pros alike!

Staff ignored me almost the entire time in store. Was about to leave when Sofia asked if I needed help. She saved my night. The store is too large and confusing without a guide. Not sure if I will make a return trip in future.
