My now husband and I have been going to Denise and C & R Mercantile for the past several years (just around the time it opened) and are huge supporters of the amazing work Denise has done to bring delicious, local foods, fresh flower arrangements, and unique, specialty goods to Bristol. Her vision and creative outlook have inspired our taste buds and gifts for others, so much so that C & R Mercantile has become a staple for our holiday presents. In fact, theres so many reasons why we keep going back to our favorite, neighborhood grocer. Whether its knowing that we are going to get mouthwatering and fresh foods to satisfy every palate, or that we will find the perfect gift from a Rhode Island artist, C & R Mercantile has whatever you need to feel or make someone else feel special. And that is exactly how Denise makes you feel the moment you walk in - that you are warmly welcome and that you are a close friend of hers. Long-time customers know that its not just the eclectic wares, but also Denises inviting and outgoing nature that continuously brings in more and more people throughout the years. My husband and I were recently married and were lucky enough to have Denise put together our boutonnieres and bouquets for the wedding. I cant say enough that throughout the entire process, Denise took such good care of us. From planning the design, to discussing ideas, to delivering and even putting together a luncheon for my family and I the day of the wedding, Denise was there with her whole heart and creative spirit. Her involvement in my day put me at ease and made it that much more special. Not only did the final results blow me away, but most of my guests complimented me on our flowers and asked where I got such gorgeous arrangements. For those looking for a dedicated and hard-working person to inspire them, or a special item (be it food or art), I highly recommend stopping in to C & R Mercantile, if not just to say, Hi to Denise (and perhaps her dogs).

Having C & R Mercantile as a part of the neighborhood is such a privilege. I love being able to walk two mins to get my eggs and bacon on the weekend, or stopping by to grab crackers and cheese on the way to visit with friends. Denise has created such a welcoming, fully stocked shop that brings such a life force into the neighborhood. Breathtaking little hole in the wall. Amazing selection of organic health foods, cured meat, cheeses, organic juice, pickled veggies galore, smoked and cured fish and so much more. Go and check this place out at your earliest convenience, you will want to spend an hour just looking over the selection. Amazing, will go back again and again!
