DO NOT go to this place! Had an awful experience with getting glasses for my son. They were paid for and ordered in mid-July. After giving it the appropriate amount of time and not hearing back, I called to follow up. And have been following up on weekly basis ever since. The explanation and remediation suggestions have been repeated week after week, and 2+ months later the latest explanation is no better and no more assuring than the ones before that. The basic story is that the practice is escalating with the lab. They cannot provide an eta because they don’t control the lab. There is no one else to call or escalate to because “I can’t give you my manager’s personal phone number”, and there is no way to call the lab directly, and on and on. After many hours wasted, and my son without glasses for months, I finally requested a refund and taking my business elsewhere. This is beyond an awful experience and service.
I have a 25 yr experience with Dr. Heimlich. I wear Hard Contacts. His services have always been positive. He is thorough. I am older now and he is finding I need more eye care. I cannot thank any more that I have his knowledge and experience available to me.
Dr. Heimlich and the entire staff always go above and beyond to provide exceptional care in all matters of services I have used, including eye exams, billing, and glasses. They work well with insurance companies to provide the best rate possible. It is without a doubt, that I highly recommend Buffalo Grove Eye Care Center.
Dr. Heimlich is simply the best. His knowledge, concern for his patient and expertise is second to none.
Having been going to Buffalo Grove Eye Care Center for many many years .The staff is kind, courteous, always smiling and always willing to help.Helps that they are located down the street from where I live also.Have called about different eye problems I experienced and the staff got me in right away for a doctor to look at my eye. You cant beat that kind of service.
I went in for my yearly checkup and to get a spare pair of glasses. I saw Dr. Heimlich, who explained everything and answered all questions. The people at the Buffalo Grove location are very friendly and helpful. I highly recommend this location.
First time contacts. Tried 3 different brands and powers in 5 visits but nothing worked out. Nothing productive! Decided to establish at a different Optometrist. This is just my experience and you might have better opinion!
Very helpful, friendly professional staff! I am so happy that I found out about this business. Everyone on the staff is so helpful and friendly. I got a great eye exam and then chose new glasses. They have a great selection of reasonably priced frames, as well as beautiful designer frames. The staff helped me pick my frames and offered excellent advice for choosing the right pair. I will definitely go back!
Hands down the best optometry experience I have had in a long time. The staff were courteous, efficient, and worked with my budget. The doctor was able to assess my eye health and prescription even though I did not have any records from my previous doctors. Lastly when I was diagnosed with a stigmatism and had trouble getting used to my new glasses, the doctor worked with me, lessened the correction, and replaced my glasses with ones that I was able to get used to. Now I see better than ever. I highly recommend Buffalo Grove Eye Care Center!!!
Ive been coming to BG eye care my entire life (18+ years) and have received nothing but personable and exceptional care. The doctors and staff go above and beyond for their patients, making every visit a pleasure. I highly recommend this practice to anyone seeking eye care for any reason. This is a practice you can trust.
The eye exam seemed thorough, but I feel like their main goal is to sell glasses, regardless of whether you really need them. All three us left with prescriptions, including my 12 year old. My uncle, who is an opthamologist (retired) laughed when I told him that I bought my son glasses. My sons prescription was so weak that he definitely did not need glasses. My uncle made fun of me falling for their hard sell to get him $400 glasses...not thrilled about that!
I went in for an eye exam and to have my glasses updated for computer use. The exam was done quickly, efficiently and professionally. The exam showed that my prescription had changed so getting new lenses was really needed. The person who assisted me with adding the computer section was also helpful.
I went to get tested for reading/computer glasses, and the had to go two different times because the first doc went way too fast while testing my eyes. The second time wasn’t much better, always being rushed to make a decision of what you see, and the results were different on the two different testings. The glasses provided to me were progressive which I had no idea they would make you feel like you were on LSD. If you would have explained the effects of that type of glass, I would have not chosen them. Had to bring them back and I was then given another progressive pair of glasses that were similar to the first pair several weeks later, REALLY ?? I just told you how much I didn’t like the first pair. Maybe I should have brought a translator because I made myself very clear what I wanted in the beginning on day one. I then got a third pair weeks later and felt they were just trying to get rid of you like all this was my fault. There are so many Eye Care Centers in this neighborhood (one across the street) as I drive around it, I REALLY regret not going to one of them before I visited your place. To summarize the experience at Buffalo Grove Eye Care Center, I really didn’t expect to have to go there eight different times just to get a pair of reading glasses. I would say there are better places to get your eye care from. The only referral you will be getting from me is a negative one because you have earned your grade. I suggest anyone who wants accurate eye care to go somewhere else.
Dr. Heimlich and all of the staff I have encountered here are always professional and attentive and also warm and friendly. I have been coming here for six years and I would not go anywhere else, I am very happy with the care I receive every visit. I insisted that my wife and children come here as well, as I think that getting to know a doctor is a good practice and the history of treatment is important information. This is not a big box store and it is not necessarily cheap, nor would I consider it expensive. Taking care of your health is always worth what it costs, honestly how much is you eye sight worth? I have terrible vision and I wear gas permeable hard contacts, they are not inexpensive and they are not always easy to have to wear, but they allow me to do everything that I need to do in my life. People, if you are going to leave reviews about how expensive it is to get contacts or voice the opinion that it is difficult or uncomfortable to get used to a new prescription, go and try to drive without your glasses, or eat dinner with your eyes closed. Then - find some common sense and do what you need to do to take care of yourself and others.
First time going in as a adult, I also took my dependent. Every single person was so kind, so friendly. When it was my 4 year olds turn, everyone was talking him through the process. He was able to sit through the whole exam.
As usual the service was excellent. I went there this time because a had an irritation in my left eye. Dr. Heimlich identified the problem in a very short time, and called in an eyedrop prescription for me. Just 4 drops a day for about a week. I have to admit it only took 2 days for the irritation to stop, but to be sure I continued using the eyedrops for the rest of the week.
Great place with friendly staff! I had my first annual checkup here a few months ago and I would definitely recommend checking Buffalo Grove Eye Care Center out.
I have been going to BG eye care for 7 years for vision screenings. I shared concerns about my eyes feeling dry and having to blink a lot to see clearly with my right eye. The doctors didnt take my concerns seriously - one actually said the exact words youre too young for that to be a problem - and said I should just use eye drops. I considered them experts and listened. Well, my eyes continued to bother me so I went to an ophthalmologist. They immediately diagnosed me with Occular Roseacea and clogged ducts that are so bad I now need surgery --- definitely NOT dry eyes! Save your eyes and go somewhere else!!!!!!
Im happy with the service and very knowledgeable friendly staff!
If you need a diagnostic - please go somewhere else! All Dr Heimlich did was send me to another doctor - and charge $289 for this! The place is a rip-off.
Called trying to get an appointment due to broken glasses. They told me I would need to wait 12 days before theey could see me. I was very surprised they would not get me in same day or even next day. How do they expect people to go without their glasses?
