Phone staff is friendly and understanding during COVID, but the pickup location/satellite store is very slow. I ordered what I needed the day prior, and double checked to make sure they had it. They said I could come any time after 10 to get it... I came at 2pm. You think it would be ready for pickup right? Wrong. I’ve been here for more than half hour and I’m still waiting. I’m going to just get what I need from the manufacturer next time.

Ive been to their new satellite store on three different occasions and Ive never been out of there in less than an hour. Their in-store staff is painfully slow and disorganized. The sales people I speak to on the phone dont have accurate stock information and seem to want nothing more than to get you off the phone. I would never spend my own money at this place.

Make sure your online order is perfect because if you have to deal with customer service, they might not care. At least they didnt in my case. I needed my equipment to be ready to use at 5AM on Monday. Ordered on Thurs. The invoice indicated I was going to be contacted about the freight cost. I got an email saying my order was shipped and realized it wasnt going to get to me on time. I called customer service as soon as my order went out and the phone answerer didn’t know how to deal with web orders and didn’t want to bother with it and just connected me to the β€œweb orders” department. They werent around, and then I left a message - this was mid-afternoon - and no one got back to me. I left two emails to customer service. The next day I got an email. It was just my tracking number. Nothing else. No effort to help correct the issue. Just like most places in Hollywood. When youre kind of the only game in town, and a little pricey, you dont care about the customer too much. Poor form, Filmtools.UPDATE 159PM: After sending a couple more emails and doing the live chat, I was finally connected to the manager and she helped trace the path of lack of customer service. Also, Marcus resolved the matter upon receiving my 3rd email. So my faith is restored in Filmtools. (Sort of - their stuff is still pretty pricey, but hey, thats Hollywood.

They never answer the phone. Which is incredibly frustrating. You can call 8 times in a row, and no one will answer. The phone system kicks you out after 3 rings, and makes you leave a voicemail no one may ever respond to. Ugh.If you can somehow interact with this business without ever having to call them, they are lovely. I wish there was an option for NO STARS! We ordered Super Clear cases from this company and they sent us tinted yellow cases, stating that they are clear and we are responsible for returning the product at our own expense. Even though they clearly state they are Super Clear, Mary Crevoiserat made a point to tell us that they are only clear, its the same product and same manufacturer that they have been using. Can someone please help me to understand how SUPER CLEAR equates to tinted yellow?!? Poor customer service and liars about product descriptions. Filmtools has been quite unprofessional. Let me tell you my experience and why this was my first and last time dealing with them.1. I make an order of four lights. These lights were not in stock and I recieved a misleading email that looked like an order confirmation. Anyone would probably glance at it and think β€œnice, my order has been recieved.” Well I’m glad I read everything because at the bottom, they have fine print that says they have a 20% cancelation and restocking fee. There is text that follows that mentioning to respond to the email saying that I understand that the items I ordered are on back order and if they did not receive an email response that they would charge me the 20%. Right off the bat, I felt like I was being hustled.2. I get notification that my order has shipped. Great! I followed the fedex tracking and I scheduled a shoot relying on the equipment I ordered. Well to my surprise, the order comes in incomplete. Now this causes a huge inconvenience because I don’t have everything for my shoot.3. I contact them and they said β€œLooks like your shipment was split in two due to different warehouse locations. The remainder of your order is shipping out today and you will receive another e-mail shorty with a tracking number :)” As if they didn’t even check in the first place and just fixed the problem by sending it out as soon as they found out they made a mistake.I responded to that email with my situation hoping they would do an overnight rush but no answer.The tracking number never came in. I contact them yet again and didn’t receive a response.I contacted again a third time and then I get a response saying that they still don’t know what is going on with the rest of the order and that they would provide me with details. They never did. I hate to beg people for things. I’ve given up. These people just don’t care. They have my money and I am left with an incomplete order. I don’t think they plan on doing anything about it either.I don’t like to leave negative reviews, but I’ve done everything trying to resolve things directly and it hasn’t worked. Hopefully others will see this and know what bad service these people have. I reccomend buying from B&H or amazon or any other trusted company that actually care about the customer and delivering. Even eBay has a good customer satisfaction. Not these people.

Bad communication, forgotten orders, missing parts, delayed orders and confusion. If youre needing to pick up something at the last minute for a shoot, good luck. I paid for an online order using PayPal but after more than a month I still had not received my order. I contacted film tools and was told the item was on backorder. I had a project for school and I needed the tool belt I had ordered and was not able to wait so I went into the store on the weekend to purchase something similar. I was told by the staff in the store that because I had come in on the weekend I would have to wait to speak with someone in accounting to have refunded to me the original purchase made online. I made the second purchase in good faith believing I was going to get a refund but it has been more than a month and I have received no refund. When I called to speak to someone in accounting the lady was rude to me and unable to give me answers. After a few minutes she sent me to a voicemail and no one ever returned my call or issued me a refund. The last I heard from the staff was that they successfully cancelled the backorder for the item I paid for but I still have not been refunded. They stole $150 from me, Not Cool. I am very unhappy!

I was originally a fan of this business. They always had competitive prices and prompt shipping. However, my most recent experience has been very poor! I purchased a 5-piece flag kit and didnt here anything for about 2-3 weeks. When I called, I was given a vague answer about the kit being back ordered with no other information. I patiently waited an entire month before calling back. During that time, I did receive only 1 of the pieces. When I called back a MONTH later to see where the rest was, Im told the entire order was canceled because it was on back order for so long. No notification to me of this happening at all. So, I reluctantly have them put the order in again and wait nearly another month. Over the course of a few days I receive a duplicate piece to the original one sent (only supposed to be one) and two other pieces (one of the scrims has a hole). I let another week pass to see where the two remaining flags are and its a big mystery to them. Mind you, every time I call, Im on hold 10-15 minutes. So, to date, my order is still incomplete, I have to send their duplicate back, and who knows where the rest of my kit is. Maybe they are good for individual items, but Id look else where for any kits...EDIT - This review was originally posted to Yelp. About two hours after posting, a member of Filmtools damage control team was emailing me (maybe if they put this much effort into their fulfillment department?). I got the same assurances that they would look into my order and that I would receive an update the following day. Well, fast forward more than a week later and Filmtools has gone dark again. As it stands, my order is now over two months old and is still incomplete. Ive spent 2+ hours on the phone with them and via email with no answers. This is officially the worst service experience Ive ever had.
