A very neat coffee experience, its amazing how coffee tastes when its made thoughtfully. I appreciate the detailed descriptions of each roast and the helpful suggestions from the barista. Lots of space to sit and sip.

A sophisticated cup of coffee for sure. You have several bean options when you walk in, all well described (think wine flavors). You can order any type of coffee (cappuccino, latte, flat white, etc.) with any of the coffee flavors. I chose a cold drink that was coffee and lemonade, that was amazing. I was surprised that I was actually drinking something that tasted so good that I had never tried before. This place is also quintessential Burlington from a vibe perspective.

First I will say that the cappuccino I ordered was really good. It was everything I would expect out of a great cappuccino. This comes after scratching my head and looking at all the information about different coffee types. The inside scoop is when you stand there reading the alien language wall menu for over 5 minutes you earn a free 10 minute class on how to read the menu and select a drink from a bilingual barista. The class was helpful and I somehow felt accomplished. So off to ordering as I could see the next person in line was approaching 10 minutes of menu staring contest. Service was good but the end result was no different. I thought after all of that, Im drinking a cappuccino. I fully expected to see into the future, or grow antennas or something.

It was a cold and rainy day ... when we meandered into Onyx Tonics. I ordered a Kagumo black coffee. The barista redirected me away from adding cream. He said doing so would dilute the subtle flavors of the coffee. The coffee was delightful. The Cafe has a clean European look to it. I highly recommend making time to stop in here, especially on a cold and rainy day.

Thanks for being open during all of this, despite a change in how the shop interacts with customers(no dine in services at this time.) The whole team still shares amazing singe origin coffees from a wide selection of local and national roasters. With a menu thats constantly rotating, allowing long time customers to continue to find something new and interesting in their morning cup. thank you all and much love.

Best espresso I’ve had all year. I drink a lot of coffee, worked as a barista at a high end roastery, and am pretty snobby about my coffee in general. This is really, really, really good coffee. Even my wife’s decaf espresso was pulled perfectly, which almost never happens. And even with the high quality, the staff is super down to earth and kind. Way to go, Burlington!

Overpriced, but good coffee, the tipping options are a bit ludicrous. How do you ask for a tip equal to half the price of the coffee?

Ca
Review №49

I go out of my way to come here. They really put so much thought and care into every cup, all for the same prices every other coffee shop is charging, including the big corporate chains that get wholesale prices for pretty mediocre tasting coffee. This shop is all quality over quantity, people over profit, coffee over cash 😂, and in this day and age that should be lauded! Onyx Tonics forever!

Review №59

A spacious and comfortable coffee shop for people who like coffee to be complex and flavorful. The ordering process is complex, but the staff is there because they love coffee in the way people love fine wine. The flavor profile of each roast will be on a chalkboard to your left, and you can select how you want your roast prepared. This is not a spot to get a take away of a cup of autodrip to keep you up for work. This is a wine bar for coffee. Bring a book or your laptop and enjoy the flavors and the setting.

A gem. More than just another high-end cafe, which are too often cold and cookie-cutter, Onyx excels at the best aspects you want in a friendly neighborhood locale: exceptional drinks, authentic staff, and a beautiful granite bar where regulars can congregate and gab away leisurely amongst themselves and with the staff. Additionally, the excellent wifi makes it a great place to plop down and do some work. Highly recommended.

To call this place a coffee shop is to sell it tremendously short of what it actually is: an Elixir of Life Dispensary. I frequented this establishment multiple times a day whilst living in Burlington. The outrageously attractive and charismatic staff are not only excellent conversationalists and joke tellers, but also experts at their craft. Sourcing only the finest coffees from the ends of the earth, it seems these baristas/artists will stop at nothing to ensure that every drop of perfection that is associated with their name is equivalent to nectar of the gods.Ever since moving away from Burlington Ive felt that a large part of my soul has been ripped out and left at 126 College Street. I am planning a pilgrimage later this year to retrieve it.

The best coffee in Vermont, hands down. This shop is all about the quality of the drink but the setting and interior is very unique as well.
