Came here after seeing the good reviews, and we are so happy we did! The food was extremely tasty, fresh, and so fulfilling. Not only that, the customer service was top notch. Some of the nicest staff I’ve ever met. Funny bathroom sign too. Altogether this made for an extremely positive experience. This restaurant checks all the boxes and we will definitely be back. You owe it to yourself to give it a try.
We stopped by Viet Citron for lunch on the way up to Maine a few weeks ago. I wanted to write this review because of how impressed I was with the food! We got the pho, pork belly banh mi, and a special of the day, some pork sausage wrapped in betel leaves with herbs and noodles and a funky good fermented sauce. Everything was absolutely delicious and high quality - you could tell it was prepared with a lot of care and love. The pork belly had rich flavor and a satisfying crunchy skin that melded perfectly with the fresh pickled veggies and the pho broth was on point. This is pure, undiluted viet food deliciousness with maximum flavor (and this means a lot coming from a Vietnamese person). Another plus, the drinks are out-of-this-world good too- definitely try the salted limeade and the taro bubble tea. Damn, I’m missing this place already. Can’t wait to stop by again when I’m up that way!
Delicious food freshly prepared right in front of you. Grilled beef, chicken and prawns are all very flavourful. Big A* chicken portion is huge! Restaurant setup is modern. There are three small 2-person tables available for outside seating. Cannot wait to try their Pho next time!
Absolutely amazing food. I got the lemongrass garlic steak rice bowl, and Ive never had better Vietnamese food. The basil was fresh, my pickled vegetables were crunchy and flavorful, and my rice was the perfect balance between sticky and fluffy. Im already wanting to go back, and, next time, Ill bring everyone I know with me. 10/10!
Fantastic food and service. The staff are incredibly friendly and care about their customers. The food is fresh and delicious. Everything tastes as if it were prepared on the spot. The lemongrass steak is incredible, I definitely recommend giving it a try.
We came here for dinner over Labor day weekend and the food was incredible! They offer a chicken pho on the first weekend of every month, and we were lucky to have been in during such a weekend. The chicken broth was rich and flavorful, hands down the best pho Ive ever had! We also met the owner Tran, who was friendly and helpful. She brought out our food and gave us suggestions on how best to enjoy it. She also informed us that they make all of their broths in-house and the incredible flavor comes from slow-cooking beef or chicken with the bones. We were very impressed with our experience and will definitely be coming back often and soon!
Everything is so fresh and flavorful. I had a delicious banh mi and my kids got rice bowls (the lemongrass steak here is amazing.) The staff are really sweet and obviously invested in their food and service.
Banh mi and pho are fantastic!
This place is very clean and well designed. The service was great and the food was good as well. I’d definitely come back again and recommend it to others.
We were very excited to finally visit Viet Citron tonight! The food was delicious, fresh, and so flavorful! We loved the Crispy Tofu Puff Bahn Mi and the grilled eggplant!
If you are a fan of a bahn mi sandwich you must visit this place. I got the sirloin steak as protein. The quality of the meat was significantly better than most Ive had in the area. The bread was perfect. All of the add-on components were delicious. Really really worth the trip
My wife and I order here a few times for pick up. Very delicious Vietnamese food. You know the restaurant put their heart and soul into making quality food!
Vietnamese food was delicious! We ordered the sirloin banh mi with egg roll add on. The steak was perfectly freshly grilled and seasoned. I really like the meat warm and grilled. We waited quite a bit since there was a mix up of our order being dine in vs to go. However they gave us a Thai tea on the house which I really appreciated. It shows they care about the customers. Ill be back to try the chicken pho when the weather cools down.
One of the best phở in Massachusetts. Good food, the staffs are super friendly and helpful. Such a hidden gem
The Crispy Pork and pho was good. I really enjoyed the different flavors and the fresh vegetables and different flavors the Vietnamese use in cooking. Think fresh flower smells and limes with a nice herbal beef broth. The kitchen is in an open area where you can see them prepare the food but I opted to take a vacant seat while waiting for take-out. So if you like Pho, I say give it a try. I like Vietnamese food and I enjoyed this dish but I didnt love it hence my four out of five star rating.
Most delicious and tender sirloin with fresh vegetables and bread. Will visit again & often
The first time I picked up my order from Viet Citron, I was immediately reminded of the wonderful memories from my youth. From the perfectly-cooked rice noodles to the delicately-seared beef, I could taste the love and pride of the owners in each bite. Portion sizes were excellent and generous as well - even considering it was take-out! If you even remotely consider yourself a fan of home-cooked pho and Viet cooking, you cant pass this up. And especially during these take-out-only times, its crucial for our local businesses to feel our support. VC just so happens to make it an easy choice! If this review was helpful, please hit the thumbs up. It would be greatly appreciated!
I love the vibe and they were super nice when I ordered my food. I would totally bring my friends and family here again!
I don’t typically review restaurants, but wanted to make it a point about how good it is here. One of the best Vietnamese places I’ve been to in the greater Boston area. You can tell that the owner really cares about the customer’s experience, and cares about the quality of food they put out. Super friendly staff as well!
The owner is one of the rudest people Ive ever met. You guys should really work on your politeness to your customers. Instead of yelling at your customers about how theyre wrong when theyre voicing their complaints, you should try to actually listen to what they have to say. When you start yelling at your customers, while in front of your customers, that clearly shows that youre lacking in the customer service department. Ridiculous.
Great food most of the time! Sometimes the bread can be a little dry and the wait times can be long. Also it closes at 7PM which might be a new on the market decision but I think it should stay open longer. Otherwise very fresh and authentic food, modern interior and experience.
Best chicken Ive ever had. Im almost afraid to leave a good review because it means that therell be less chicken for me
I went there today! This place is very clean. It was the first time I really enjoyed good food in 15 years. Best people, best food!!!
We visited Boston during our family vacation from Philadelphia. We want to try out Pho place in Boston and we were lucky to find Viet Citron in Burlington. This place was awesome, customer service was great. The owner was very friendly and genuine and provide a lot of great suggestions. We loved their Oxtail Pho, Vermicelli with grilled chicken and pork belly. It was delicious. We also brought home 3 Banh Mi, so so good. The restaurant was clean and the price was very reasonable for the location. We highly suggested if you ever visit Boston. Try this place out, we are definitely come back whenever we have a chance.
Im not sure how this place stays open. Authentic Vietnamese it is not. I come from the largest Vietnamese community outside of Vietnam (San Jose) and am appalled at both the vastly overpriced menu and the pseudo-fancy deconstructed dishes. $15 for a Bahn mi? Theyre under $5 in SJ.
This place is great! What have I tried?Classic banh mi with pork belly and fish sauce - excellent and my favorite item on their menu so farSteak and kimchi sandwich - excellentPho with local chicken - excellentChili lemongrass pork ribs - excellentAvocado milk tea - excellentSteak sandwich, no kimchi - alright but maybe youll like it better.Taro milk tea - alright but maybe youll like it better. Its apparently their most popular drink.Besides the excellent food, what makes this place truly special is the service. When I come in here, Im treated like a human being! Its so refreshing. I can get food a lot of places, but those places dont make me feel cared for as an individual the way this place does. Its food made with love! And it makes a difference! Some people have been knocking the price but, for the quality, its worth it in my opinion. They cook the sirloin and pork belly in-house, they use local chicken, etc. and the taste is great! You cant compare them to places in a different tier of quality in terms of ingredients or places in considerably cheaper areas. This place is awesome. I highly recommend!
I really dont know what to say. The banh mi was so fantastic that Ive considered flying to Boston JUST to get it again. What a find!
Ok so I’ll be honest....the pho broth was the best I’ve tasted from any pho restaurant. BUT!!!!! I was applaud at what they charge for a Bahn Mi sandwich....$12.00!!! plus add on a few extra dollars for a protein. There’s NO WAY I would pay almost $15.00 for a Bahn mi sandwich, especially if the bread they use is not authentic Bahn Mi bread.I edited this review in response to their petty pretentious reply. Well let’s talk about “a beautiful place for you to enjoy” If you enjoy ordering AND eating while hearing a SUPER LOAD BLENDER and greasy floors that patrons have to avoid slipping on, go on and eat their Bahn mi with chewy beef...The path to the restroom is not accessible for wheelchairs because they use it for storage and I’m sure it’s not supposed to be such a congested path for various safety reasons. No I’m not going to check prices everywhere. You think I’m dumb? AND I didn’t ask you how you like your bahn mi bread.Future customers....you can’t say anything about their business w/o them being jerky about it.Yeah keep replying to a customer review...it’s business. STOP taking ones observations personal, it’s not helping your business image.
Very fresh and tasty Banh Mis. Fast and friendly service.
I was really looking forward to eating lunch here the other day. I have been to 2 other vietnamese fast food restaurants and they were great. This place is very nice inside, very clean, very well run but rather pricey. Banh Mi sandwich, 2 shrimp summer rolls and an iced coffer($6) for 27$ and change. I could go to a nice restaurant for dinner and spend that. I ordered the Banh Mi sandwich with pork belly for $1.50 EXTRA. When i started to eat my sandwich outside, I gagged on the pork belly. It contained 10% meat and 90% slimy pork fat. it grossed me out so much that i had to toss the sandwich. I should have returned it but the place was too busy. I was so disappointed. The reviews look good but I would definitely stay away from the pork belly.
Food was great. Got the pho and rice bowl.
Pricy and although I like them and wish them well, it really isnt great food, but its good and available.
The best viet pho restaurant here in Boston area!
Delicious banh mi!
I got the Ox Tail Pho. It was pretty decent, however the ox tail was not very tender. Overall the prices were a little expensive for what you got as well
The chicken Bahn mi is unreal! So good!
After seeing this top the list on Boston Eater for best banh mi I was on a mission to try it. They werent wrong. The lemon grass sirloin blew me away. Dont fear the fish sauce.. embrace it.
Really amazing food, great service - will definitely come again.
One the best places for Vietnamese food in the area. Pho, Bahn Mi, Vietnamese iced coffee. All delicious.
Just tried their food. I drove all the way from Braintree to try their food. The crispy pork banh mi is amazing. I will definitely recommend to my friends.
Amazing service, Amazing food. Definitely Check this place out!
Great little spot putting out really good consistent food. Bahn Mi crispy pork belly is top notch also with Tofu is delicious. Ballerz special lives up to its name, baller. Wicked Rice bowl was great nice heat with a fresh cucumber salad. Great value
Same type of Vietnamese meals, but ingredients are used differently. They all taste great. However, they use a smaller container to squeeze all stuffs in together for 1 ordered meal for takeout when they could use a popular larger container.
Delicious fresh food!
Smells amazingly fresh when you walk in. Great bahn mi bread. Easy quick service
Delicious food and friendly staff. The lemongrass steak is EVERYTHING. Banh mi is a huge portion, definitely fresh ingredients. We have been 3x and keep returning.
The Vietnamese iced coffee is great!
Excellent Pho. Very Fresh ingredients, meat is lean, crispy pork is very crispy and fast service. Prices are higher than typical, but such great tasting pho, it is a treat. Authentic Vietnamese Cuisine.
Unbelievable Vietnamese food! The lemongrass rib is the best meat I’ve ever had in my entire life. The pho is seasoned so deliciously — the best pho broth I’ve ever had. Plus they sell bubble tea :-) I will be coming back here again ASAP!
Food is overpriced compare to another local restaurant with the same menu. (About $18 for one order) First time to try the food but will also be the last time to go there again.
The best family owned restaurant in Burlington! It may seem a bit pricey, but they are using the highest quality ingredients & take time to cook every dish super fresh. Pho broth is very flavorful. Banh Mi bread is perfect - a warm crunchy outside & soft inside. Pork belly & Prawns is a must. Ive had everything on the menu... TWICE! Please visit & support them during this pandemic time.
First time I’ve seen them open after spotting chairs and tables outside under a tent. I was curious how the food was. I had a banh mi with crispy roasted pork belly. It was the best food I’ve had in a long time. Prices aren’t cheap but reasonable -quality ingredients and food prep. Area needed a Vietnamese restaurant, and I am glad Viet Citron opened up. Best wishes to them in a tough time. Give them a try.
Good food.
Great restaurant. AMAZING FOOD!!!! Crispy pork is delicious best I have ever had! Definitely a must try.The owner is the best, very nice and friendly. This is a very clean restaurant. Food was very fresh.I highly recommend and I have never EVER written a review before! They have specials as well check them out on instagramENJOY!!!
We love Viet Citron! Fantastic food and friendly service!
Never have had Vietnamese food- They gave me great recommendations. Friendly staff ! the food is not only pretty it, is an amazing blend of fresh flavors! sooo good! I will be back - alot!
Love this place! For the price and the amount food you get it’s well worth it!!!!
Its nice not having to go to Lowell or Dorchester for authentic Vietnamese food. The menu ranges from popular entries to lesser known dishes, with some creative twists. All of the ones weve tried were delicious, and portions are quite generous. Kudos to the owners and chefs for their effort.
So glad this place opened. Food is excellent and people are really nice. Don’t have to go to Boston for my Bahn Mei anymore. Looking forward next time I visit for the beef pho.
My husband and I got takeout tonight and we wished we hadnt waited so long to try Viet Citron. The food is fresh and full of flavor. We got the Tru-Viet, Bahn Mi with Lemongrass Sirloin and an add-on Egg Roll, and Summer Rolls. The Bahn Mi and Summer Rolls were some of the best that we have had. The Tru-Viet was a bit too spicy for me, but perfect for my husband who loves spicy foods. The staff is super friendly as well. We definitely recommend!PS. If ordering online, go by the email confirmation pick up time and not the time the app you placed the order on gives you. That was the only hiccup, but it wasnt a big deal for us because we just went and got coffee at the Starbucks down the street and came back.
We ordered delivery for our first time eating here, and had the crispy pork belly banh mi and the oxtail pho. We were disappointed by the quality of meat. The oxtail came on the bone and was tough, and the broth overall was bland. The crispy pork was rather salty (in what would have been an otherwise decent sandwich- if you like aioli). My son’s rice bowl with chicken was good though, so maybe we will try again. Was surprised at the quality after looking over the great reviews, so maybe this is an example of an inconsistency.
Crispy pork belly and lemongrass beef bahn mi were both fantastic! The Customer service was great and we were greeted with smiles. Can’t wait to go back and try it again.
Overall decent place but quality is not consistent and pick up time is never respected. Their summer rolls are not of the same quality as at first, now missing hẹ, or bún. We’d like to support them but hope that they will not become victims of their own success, that they pay strict attention to quality and will not compromise ingredients. They have still to improve on many levels.
Truly fantastic top to bottom. The service is attentive and friendly, the kitchen is spotless clean. It may be a little pricey for a sandwich, but the bahn Mi is the best Ive ever had. The crispy pork belly has intensely crisp ends, strips of buttery fat, and meat with just enough bite to spread the flavors around. Ask for hot chilis on the side, its worth it.Theres a lot of good food in the area, but very few places can get the vibe right like this place has. Do not overlook eating here on your next drive through Burlington. Also, best to go on Thursday so you can grab a second one before they close for a few days.Edit: Just ate another one and I swear the longer Ive had to think about them, the better they get. One of the best sandwiches Ive ever had.
Food was amazing! It was ready in minutes and also fresh. The owner was friendly and the restaurant is super clean. Highly recommend to anyone looking for delicious vietnamese food.
Great banh my and bun bo Hue. They are not cheap but I would definitely come back!
Just order for take out today (pho dac biet and lemon grass pork ribs) . The food is so good. If I were to compare it to other Vietnamese restaurants around here, I would say this is the best. Just hoping they will stick to this recipe forever. (I know some restaurants’ food flavor change over time; hope this restaurant won’t ). And yes! the broth is so yummy. As for the price, I don’t think it’s too pricey. If I were to pay a dollar more and enjoy this flavor, I don’t mind doing that Anyways, it’s gonna be my first go to Vietnamese food place. Highly recommended.
Didnt loved, Id say 3.5 stars. The beef phos soup was too oily and the size is smaller than what were used to in the west coast for vietnamese restaurants. $13/bowl.It was my mistake to forget to ask for no cilantro and green onion, but the stuff was so finely chopped it was impossible to get it out T.T so I couldnt enjoy it at all.
Delicious Banh Mi with crispy pork belly. Friendly staff and great safety protocols for this time we live in
Shrimp was a bit fishy.
Decided to try this restaurant today and I was blown away in every aspect.Price - a little bit more expensive than other vietnamese restaurants but you get a significantly better ingredients and cleanliness. The portion I received is also noticeably more than other restaurants.Environment - I only went to pick up my order but it is located in a very convenient location with comfortable parking space. Interior is spacious with open concept and again it feels cleaner than other Asian restaurants. Staffs were very friendly, speak good English and they even gave me a free drink.Food - Im very picky and I know my asian food. The chef knows how to cook! For real, many places hire typical chefs that can cook typical generic recipe. Just looking at the food, I could tell that the chef took time to refine his or her recipes and executed my orders very well.Pho Dac Biet smelled so good, refreshing broth taste, fresh vegetables and meat. Even the sauce is pre-mixed in a very authentic style.Lemon grass pork ribs was grilled to perfection. I cant say for sure what the method was but from the look of the pork bone, it has been charred with flames, which to me is another level of cooking methods. The ribs was seasoned to perfection and the first bite was full of flavor. Even looking at the ribs, I knew right away it was quality and cooked with great attention to detail.Great place deserves great recognition and you have earned another fan.
Sooooo good! My family of 5 and I got takeout from them today and it was amazing- we got the lemongrass ribs, 3 types of pho, xoi bap, banh hoi bowl, and a taro milk tea. The pho broth was rich and complex- everything it should be- and had of course all the fixings. Probably the best pho I have ever had. The taro milk tea (which was new to me) was sweet, creamy, and thick, and cut nicely through the spicyness of my meal. One member of my party who was vegetarian asked them to leave out the fish sauce in the bahn hoi bowl, and put chili crisp oil and their veg. substitute instead- they said it was one of the best meals theyve had from a takeout place. The lemongrass ribs were also really good- and the rice & lemongrass oil that came with it was truly amazing
Viet Citron is run by great people who make very tasty food. We get a big takeout order every weekend that everyone looks forward to all week. Their banh mi is the best Ive had in New England. (I have fond memories of the $3 banh mi in Houston, but that was 15 years ago). Today someone else accidentally took our pick-up order, and instead of trying to correct the situation, that dishonest customer just took home a bunch of free food without saying anything! Viet Citron made it right by offering to deliver to our house as soon as possible. The food and the two free drinks they included were delicious as usual.
Slowest operation I have ever witnessed. It does not take 15 minutes to cook chicken. Then they went ahead and took way longer than that. They made me use gross, sticky sanitizer. I got the wicked rice bowl. They somehow expected me to eat chicken on the bone with chopsticks and a spoon. The was one of the worst and most pointless things I have ever eaten.
Fresh and tasty.
My husband randomly found this place but it is 25 minutes away from where we live. After seeing those pictures from other reviewers, we decided to give it a try, and we were so glad we did! We order three dishes - Ban Hoi Bowl with Lemongrass Sirloin (added $3 for extra meat), Wicked Rice Bowl with Crispy Pork Belly (added $3 for extra meat), and Dac Biet Ballerz Special XL. Everything was sooooo delicious and made from top quality meat! One drawback though...the food is slightly pricey but we don’t mind to pay extra for the best Vietnamese in MA!
Great place.
Absolutely delicious! The food is filled with tons of flavor! Everything we ordered was excellent!!! Can’t wait to go back!
Had the summer dish, pork belly banh mi, and chicken pho. All very good. Located conveniently next to market basket and hmart. Will come back after doing some groceries for sure.
Horrible service. Terrible listeners. Disappointing as I wanted to try the Pho but no one rang up my order. 20 minutes wasted. Would not come again.
Got the bon mi, at first thought it was a tad expensive. For the quantity and quality of ingredients was well worth every penny. Easily the most authentic bon me in the area without going to the city. The lemon grass beef was well worth the dollar extra. Perfect sandwhich.
Yesterday, I had just passed the H Mart entrance in Burlington when an attractive sign for Viet Citron called to me from the right on Middlesex Turnpike. I have been a fan of Vietnamese cuisine ever since Uncle Sam treated me to an all expense paid sabbatical there in 69-70. As I entered, the first thing that struck me was how clean, bright, open and well designed the place was, with sleek, attractive finishing surfaces, branding and signage throughout. (I later discovered that the owner has an architectural background.)The attention given to the design trappings carried over into the food preparation area, where everything was displayed sumptuously under perfect lighting to enhance the fresh ingredients. I ordered two bánh mì sandwiches (one lemongrass sirloin and one roasted pork belly) and had a delightful chat with the owner about modern Vietnam as she carefully prepared and wrapped my food. It could not have been a more satisfying transaction, and when I brought the warm sandwiches home, they were fantastic -- the freshest, crispest bánh mì I had had in many years. Yes, they were somewhat more expensive than other metro area competitors, but well worth it to my taste. I will definitely return, and look forward to trying their phở, chả giò and other specialty offerings.
My husband and I got the oxtail ballerz and banh mi sandwich with sides of cha gio and summer rolls. Our meal was amazing, full of so many wonderful fresh flavors. Can’t wait to go back and try other things on the menu - Would highly recommend the place!
I would not come here again. The owner is very rude, the food is subpar, and the prices are too high.
Fantastic!
Delicious food! My whole family loved it!
Great service and good food!
Food was great Wait was long!!
Yummy
Delicious food
