Listen...Dr. Roney is exceptional. The best Optician I have ever encountered....and I have been seeing them regularly since 1998. I am soooo glad that I was not moved by the reviews. If you are torn, just go for yourself. If you had a bad experience before, go back and request her. The health of your eyes is dependent upon you of course, but also the willingness of the provider to keep you in the loop. Intellect is a given (they are doctors), the way they convey information is not. Im smarter and feel more inclined to make better decisions as it relates to my eyes having met her. Im am so impressed...making my husband appointment too!

I was hesitant going here with the 2.7 stars but I needed my exam. Being a 40yr health professional I would know if my exam went left and was prepared to leave. Absolutely Not! Everyone was professional and delivered it with a smile and that hometown I know you feeling.Dr.Roney was excellent and explained everything in laymans terms and took her time. All of the staff were knowledgeable and proficient when I asked questoins. My fee with insurance was MINIMAL!!!!!!I will return next yr.

Im honestly surprised by some of the reviews here. I have always been pleased with my visits and glasses from here. Dr. Roney is absolutely stellar. When I needed eye surgery to correct an issue with my eyes, she was so reassuring and took the extra time to explain things in a way that I understand which I really appreciated because I was worried. I highly recommend Dr. Roney!

Stopped to see if they could service a pair of eyeglasses purchased at a different MyEyeDr location. Receptionist/front desk help was not helpful - but rather rude and acted as I was bothering them by stopping in. I will be looking for an ophthalmologist not associated with MyEyeDr.

We’ve been coming here for several years now. But today, unfortunately, that has ended. I was running late and called to let them know. When I arrived 12 minutes late (yes, I should have planned better), they told me I had to reschedule because I was more than 10 minutes late. I left, sobbing, and have found another eye dr. Just wish a little more grace could have been shown.

Many of the bad reviews you see are due to the previous doctor, management, and staff who were at this location. For patients like myself who have stuck it out over the years, we have finally reached solid ground with Dr. Roney and her staff. We have seen Dr. Roney for the last 3 years here, and she is hands down the best eye doctor I have ever seen. She is thoughtful and considerate, and she really takes the time to listen to and address my concerns. My husband and I both love seeing her yearly, and she is awesome with our 2 kids. They actually enjoy coming to the eye doctor. Ms. Cheryl is always great at answering their questions and providing stickers or suckers for them when they do a good job.I have only received top quality glasses from here in recent visits. While they may experience delays from time to time, I am always very happy with the outcome. They have a good selection of glasses and the quality of their products is much better than what I have received in years past at other eyeglass places.I highly recommend Dr. Roney at MyEyeDr in Burlington! As long as she is here, I will continue to bring my family here for years to come!

They canceled my appointment then rescheduled. When I arrived the second time, they said I didn’t give them some kind of info prior to the appointment so they canceled me again after I was already there! I’ve had friends who also said they will never be back because the prescriptions they were given were completely wrong. Not only because the staff is rude, but I highly suggest you go ANYWHERE else BUT HERE!

Don’t place an order with them. First off they won’t ship it to your home, they want you to collect it from the office.Once you visit after you received a pickup ready message asking you to collect your glasses they are closed in the working hours without even leaving a note with a reason. If you call, the the automated service says office is closed, call back in working hours! Really? I visited two different days during their normal business hours. They don’t even take calls in their working hours and say they are closed! Great service! You’ve just lost my business. This is ridiculous. You take my order, don’t deliver it and then bug me with messages to collect from nowhere. Doesn’t even take messages or calls saying you’re closed while you are supposed to be open.Update: The manager they mentioned in the below reply was of no help either

Well that wasnt very professional, I just called to confirm the hours and it was a few mins before 5 and someone picked up the phone but didnt say anything and I hear in the background no dont answer that, hang up they can leave a message . Iam sorry but that was extremely rude especially when whoever it was already picked the phone up and it was before 5. We were happy with our overall service but since the office staff wanted to be rude I only gave 1 star, maybe the people need some more training on phone etiquette.

Terrible service. This is our first experience with them as we got new insurance coverage and they are the only ones in Burlington to accept it. Took my daughter for her annual eye exam and was told her new glasses would be ready in less than 2 weeks. Two weeks pass and we call to follow up only to be told that her glasses had to be sent elsewhere for whatever reason with no notification to us and would be late but they cant tell us how late or even when we MIGHT be able to expect them. After my husband voiced his concern as our daughter is currently going on 3 weeks without glasses, the manager was extremely combative with him. I have called multiple times today trying to get an update but the phone continues to ring without answer. Not sure how you run a business and dont answer the phone. Funny enough, when I scheduled the appointment, my call was answered on the very first ring. Im an extremely angry mother right now and would NEVER recommend this eye doctor to anyone. Go to Lescrafters in Alamance Crossing. We would have went back if our new insurance was accepted there.

I have been visiting Eye Care Assoc. in Burlington for four years now. Every experience has been great and the entire staff very friendly. I am perplexed by the negative feedback I have seen but as I have been seeing optometrist from the age of two (yes 2 years old), my experience here has been on par with the best.

Honestly, I hate to make this review. Let me start off by saying that the staff at My Eye Dr. is excellent, theyre all very nice and helpful when you have questions or something wrong. Now, my issues, is odds are you will have something wrong. Ive been going here for about 3 or 4 years now, and every visit I have a new doctor. After my previous visit here, I said enough is enough and decided to switch.First, I ordered a pair of Gunners from them with my prescription for use while on my computer. The first time I received my glasses, I was supposed to have tinted yellow lenses, but received clear. I told them about the issue and the apologized and reordered them and let me keep the clear lenses as extras (which was nice), but sure enough weeks later when they arrives, they were wrong again. The center of focus (where the focal point of the lens sits in front of your eye) was off, so they had to return them and remake them AGAIN. Finally, I got my glasses after about a month and a half of issues.I had my most recent visit about a week ago. Everything was going fine, staff was great and taking care of me. I have my seat waiting for the doctor to take me into the room. Surprise surprise, new year, new doctor. He sits me down and begins prepping the machines for the exam and suddenly stops and walks outside. He comes back in and tells me Would you mind stepping out and letting this gentleman go in front of you? I just need to check his eyes really fast. Confused, I shrug and step out. The lady who had taken me back to the room stepped out and whispered an apology, but Im still confused. I finally walk in, and the eye exam begins. He wanted me to take my hands and turn the knobs and focus it like binoculars, which confused me since they had never done this before. As Im trying to focus something I have no idea how to work, hes bombarding me with Is it not focused?? Can you see now?? and eventually just grabbed my hands to do it himself. Why am I doing this? I am supposed to trust the doctor more than myself, Id assume. He starts asking the usual questions, flipping between the lenses asking if option 1 or 2 is better. They look about the same to me, I tell him, but he continues asking whether its one or two. Theyre the same, what do you want me to say? I eventually just picked one because my answer obviously wasnt satisfying him. We eventually got to the end and he showed me what my 20/20 is supposed to look like, then pulls it away from my face and quickly ushers me out. How am I supposed to make sure this is okay? Not to mention the lenses were so smudged with fingerprints, I was scared whether what I saw was truly right or not. When I walked out, they needed to trace my current lenses to fit into my frames. Now, I didnt notice this until a day later at home after cleaning them, but I have 10 to 15 small, perfectly straight-line scratches going across my right lens. I assume it came from the machine, because they were definitely not there prior to my visit.Speaking to others that I know that go here, they recently had the same thing happen. Another friend had issues in the past where it took five 45 minute trips to My Eye Dr. just to get a pair of contacts that they kept thinking they had, and was told otherwise when he arrived. That is ridiculous, especially with such a long drive, they should know when someones order is there. Overall, Ive been pretty disappointed with how downhill this place is going, because I love the staff, but the new doctor every year and the constant screw up and hurried nature has finally pushed me away.

I wasnt happy the 1st time I went here, an am less happy now. I lost a contact today and since my prescription had expired they would not replace it. They gave me several reasons, but without that contact I cant even see to drive. I would have already made an appt., but the person I talked to couldnt even give me an approximate price of the exam now. She finally said she would call me back with a price, which I finally called back a few days later and she still had no idea. I asked what the cost was the first time I went there and she didnt know. This place is very unprofessional, they dont even try to please the customers. I will not go back there, and now I know why they have bad reviews.

The lady who did the initial tests was great. The dr was good but maybe over booked and I had to wait a while. Also felt rushed and not very clear. The girl who I was sent to to pick out my glasses was VERY unfriendly and not helpful at ALL! They had dilated my eyes and then sent me to pick out glasses... I couldn’t even see what I was looking at. Was frustrated and just picked out a pair without really knowing what they looked like. Not to mention couldn’t read prices. Also she lead me to the designer ones and it want till I said how expensive they are that she opened some drawers hastily and said here are more and walked away. FWD- go to pick up my glasses and I asked a question and she said no so I mention what the de said and she says oh maybe, I don’t know. Packs up my bag and sent me on my way. I was annoyed and frustrated that I walked out clueless about when I’m even supposed to wear them. I’m not even sure if my rx is correct....

I have visited this office multiple times and have never had a good experience. This last time is the reason I WILL NEVER RETURN TO EYE CARE ASSOCIATES. The technician was very rude, and has acted this way before. After I informed her that I would not be paying for extra testing, such as a contact fitting or retina testing, she immediately became ruder. I did not buy contacts because of the extra cost associated with your contact fitting that did not include any lenses in that price. I asked if I would still be receiving a trial pair of lenses and the tech snapped, I dont know! It depends on what the doctor says!. She continued to act hostile in the way she spoke with me until I was taken to the examination room. The doctor was pleasant at first. He asked if I was coming for a regular check up and I confirmed. He checked my eyes and even said that the previous doctors prescription of a certain contact was more expensive and unneeded. I thought my visit was getting better. He brought me a trial pair of lenses to try and then left the room. Thinking that I was clearly getting a trial pair and would be able to keep them, I threw my lenses within their case in the trash. Upon the doctor returning to the room, he seemed flustered. He exclaimed that I had not informed him that I would not be buying contacts (see statement above about check up). He then told me to open my eyes. I thought that he was just going to do another test on my eyes but HE STUCK HIS FINGERS INTO MY EYES AND TOOK OUT MY CONTACTS! Not only did he not inform me of his intentions but he stuck his fingers into my eyes, took my contacts out and threw them away. I was so in shock I couldnt say anything. He then snapped at me and asked if I had any questions and I said no, but that now I would have to dig my container with my old contacts out of the trash to be able to get home. He yelled, Well, where are they? I didnt touch them! I had to explain that since I had trial contacts in my eyes, I threw my old ones away. I have never felt so violated by a doctor. The only reason I ever went to this office was due to the fact of my insurance was changing. My insurance changed back not too long ago and now I am going back to my old provider. After I left ECA I called my previous eye doctor and told them I had a bad experience. They confirmed that others were calling their office and leaving ECA as well due to bad experiences. They immediately offered to take care of my contacts and even contacted the office so I wouldnt have to deal with them anymore.

Honestly this is the worst experience I have had at an eye appointment and it took two appointments for one order for contact lenses and it sounds like they still have messed up the contact order. (Seriously I was forgotten and left in the waiting room at another eye center and after forty minutes left them without seeing the doctor but even that was better than the mess ECA/My Eye Doc is putting me through.) Today I went back in for my contact lens fitting exam (after they tried to talk me out of getting contacts due to my age (im 43 and have worn contacts on and off for well over 20 years with no problem). During the preliminary exam the tech discusses with me the cost difference between toric and toric with multifocal and how my insurance covers and we decide Ill just go toric and buy readers since I only need the bifocal portion to read tiny things on my smartphone. She walks me to the doc who fits me with the lenses which by the way Im pretty sure my right lens prescription is off or they chose the wrong prescription lens in their stock but he says it just needs to settle. So I am led to the frame/salesroom to finish up and pay. The lady there puts my order in her computer and advises the system is running slow but asks for and accepts payment (and I go for the annual supply and buy readers). She is only able to give me a cc receipt and says she will email me the full receipt and my contacts should arrive via mail at my home in a week or less. My appointment was at 2:20pm. Now it sounds like all is settled. NOT. She calls me back after 6pm to say she screwed up something and she thinks I owe her another $65 but cant clarify what the hell she is talking about. So I advise her to email me the workup of the difference in price she charged me and what she is now saying it should be. It is 3 hours later. No email no call and no one answers there or at their customer service line (since they are now a chain I tried using the number in a survey they somehow seemed to be able to email me). Now my insurance they say is very sketchy about paying claims if the order and fitting arent on the same day (at least per the staff at this center). Um....if they deny my claim and I am out anything extra because they dont know how to use a calculator and figure out a bill before charging my credit card and sending me on my way then they had better eat the difference. Ill update this if they make it right but Im doubting that is going to happen. How the heck can they make something so freaking simple so impossible and unpleasant. Unbelievable!
