I dont usually write these but I figured Id warn people- the owner seems very transphobic.I went in with my girlfriend and she seemed normal at first but when I told her we were just looking she bristled and glared at her. Soon another customer walked in and was warm and responsive to them but kept glaring at my girlfriend. The owner basically walked into her at one point (with ample space to not do so) and stared at her silently when she apologized. Her eyes followed us around the store the entire time and she was cold and rude at checkout, ending the interaction in a rather condescending way. My girlfriend said once we walked out she thinks she was overcharged for the bra (paid full price for an item on the discount rack).Frustrated she would treat her like this, especially since she ended up paying over $100 for the two items.

I have shopped at Bertha Church since moving to the area 10 years ago. Being a bit larger in size, it was nice to go to a store and be able to be fitted. Every time I visit, I usually spend between $150-300. And up until 3 years ago, Ive always had excellent service. However, Id notice that the service has really declined, especially from the owner. Then I had bought a few bras back in December but then lost 25lbs. One of the bras had to be ordered which I picked up on January. Because of COVID and working remotely, I dont travel to Burlington as often (live in Central VT over an hour away). So once I noticed that the bra didnt fit any more because I loss weight, I kept it in the bag to return. I tried stopping by several times but always kept missing them. I tried to go today and was told that I missed the 30 day window. I was also prepared to buy two more bras today but have decided that if the owner doesnt want to have good costume service then I can take my business elsewhere.

Special ordered a piece of lingerie for my wedding 3 weeks before the wedding and the owner said it would be in, no problem. Called 4 days before my wedding because I still didn’t hear from her to make sure it would be in on time and she said that she “couldn’t get it for me, they don’t have it”. A call would have been nice because she took my phone number down. She knew it was for a wedding too. So disappointed. Extremely unprofessional.

Based on other reviews, I assume it was the owner we interacted with - she ignored us for a long time, acted inconvenienced when we asked a question, was extremely unhelpful in her response, then ignored us again. Also heard some cringey fatphobic stuff from her as we left.

Bought something for my wife but it wasn’t what she was looking for. I tried to go back to exchange it with something else but owner refused to do that.

The staff is amazing!! I was in need of new bras after wearing nursing bras for to Long. I was sized and had many options in my larger size. It was great!!

This is really a review for my experience a tad more then three years ago... Wonderful. I am a full figured gal and needed bras for nursing at the time. She had a bunch of options, some the typical (and priced VERY fairly) and nicely she had a few pretty bras for nursing as well! Added plus to the A plus attention I got, choices offered... she even had my regular bras in sexy! Seriously Im a 38 G... and even some on sale! Felt like I hit the lotto! I would go again on a hearth beat!!

Best place in town for lingerie and bras. Local, owned and operated, for about 50 years, their new location is a much more roomy version of the old store. The new store is not far from the original location near ben & jerrys near the top of church street, about a block down the street. The new shop is bright and inviting. The renovations add to the excellent service provided by the knowledgeable employees.

This place is fantastic. I have a lot of trouble finding a comfortable bra, and today I went out in search of a strapless bra (talk about hard to find comfort...). Grace, who works at Bertha Church, was phenomenal. She was very knowledgeable and very patient. She really listened to me when I talked about all of the characteristics that I was looking for in a bra, and she didnt seem bothered at all to size me and to bring me all sorts of things to try on. I found what I was looking for! Actually, my expectations were far exceeded. I would recommend this place to anyone who feels like they really need help finding the right fit, style, etc. Bravo!

I had an amazing experience with Alaina!! She helped me find exactly what I needed and was patient as I tried the many different styles for my body type. She even stayed after closing to help me out!!! This will be the only lingerie shop that I go to!

If you require any level of customer service from the owner, forget about it. I had excellent interaction with the young woman who works there, but subsequent pick up of ordered items was horrendous. Owner is rude if you have any more than passing contact with her. My first purchase was about $400 worth of her product. I guess she has enough customers that she does not need retention. I will not shop there again.

Elayna (I hope Im spelling her time right) is phenomenal. She was friendly, warm, extremley knowledgeable and incredibly patient. In a lot of customer service settings I feel like they want you in and out, spending money inbetween. Elayna genuinely cared about helping me find something in which I felt comfortable. I probably tried on 50 bras and she was always more than happy to get me something else.Its ture that things can be pretty pricey there, but I feel like bras (especially in less common sizes like 30G etc.are always expensive). Im always able to find something in my size on the sale rack. The most recent bras that Ive bought there I payed $25, $35, and $40 for, which is an incredible deal.Ive also been in when the woman who I believe is the manager was working, I found her explanations confusing and her affect to be a little gruff (im sure shes a prefectly lovely person, this was just my experience). If youve been here but havent had help form Elayna go back when shes working!

Other associate was a total sweetheart, owner needs to work on communication skills or she’ll keep losing customers.

I never write reviews online, but I had a really bad experience trying to purchase a bra from Bertha Church. The first time I went in I asked to do a fitting and the sales girl told me to pick out some bras and shed help me when I was ready. Once I had the bras on she came into the room and didnt check the band or adjust the straps or anything that they normally do at other shops that do fittings. In the end she suggested ordering the bra I liked best in a couple of sizes since they didnt have my size in the store, which was perfectly fine with me. They called me 3 weeks later when the bras came in and I went in the try them on and they werent quite right, which didnt surprise me given that I wasnt actually fitted. One the band fit but the cups were too small and the other the cups fit but the band was too big. No big deal - we agreed to try ordering again the size that should be right this time. Fast forward 3 weeks and I havent heard from the store, so I go into the store just to check because I am moving out of state in a few weeks and the sales girl finds my order card and is cagey about whether or not the order has actually been placed, but updates my card with the info about me moving etc. Fast forward another three weeks and still nothing. So I call the store on Monday and talk to a woman who wants to know when I came in, what the bra brand was, and what size it was. I didnt know any of this info because so much time had passed and the sales girl just wrote down the order so I never looked at the bra brand. The woman on the phone told me shed have to look it up and call me back. I still hadnt heard from her by Wednesday morning two days later, but had figured out which day I had been in the store, so I called and left a message with all of my info and asked them to call me back. Again, no call back by Thursday afternoon and at this point I just want to know what bra I was trying to order so I could just go order it myself somewhere else. I call the store again and tell the woman that I am looking for information about a bra I was trying to order and she asks Are you Jessica? So apparently, they had gotten my message, but just chose to ignore it or something? She then asks me again when I had been in and what bra it was and after some digging she finds my card and tells me They dont make that bra in that size. After all of this I could have been told that a month and a half ago! So I politely hang up and go online and lo-and-behold they do in fact make that bra in that size and I have ordered it myself directly through the manufacturers website. It is safe to say that I will never attempt to give Bertha Church my business again.

There are a lot of bad reviews for this business, but I had a really good experience here! Was visiting Burlington from out-of-state, and after walking by the shop a few times decided to go in after dinner. There was one salesgirl there (unfortunately cannot remember her name) and she was unbelievably helpful. I was, at first, the only person in the shop, but within 10 minutes she had about 5 or 6 other women come in so I spent time waiting in the dressing room while she was trying to help everyone at once. Their selection is overwhelming and very inclusive, and I have a hard time buying bras so I didnt know where to start, but after a short explanation, the salewoman knew exactly what I was looking for, which made the experience so much easier for me! I ended up buying 3 items there and had one mailed to my house (which arrived a week later). After I finished checking out and I chatted with the saleswoman, it turns out the shop had closed about 45 minutes prior. She helped myself and all those other customers without a peep about the fact that we came in at closing time. Very happy with the level of service, and even happier with my items!

Burtha Church makes the most of the space they have with a good store selection, though the shop could have better management.

My friend went in looking for a bra because she is a small girl but is big chested and has issues finding bras that fit. The owner didnt seem to want anything to do with us for the first 20 minutes...even though the size she needed was kept inside a drawer that we werent allowed in. She left us to look though the bras on display for a good 20 minutes before we finally asked her...and she knew her size. Then when she was paying attention to us, she walked in on my friend changing...WHO DOES THAT TO A COMPLETE STRANGER!? After that happened, we were both really uncomfortable - I wasnt even trying anything on and I was uncomfortable. We got out of there ASAP and she ended up buying the ones she found that she liked online and got a better price.So freaking weird, the entire situation. We talked to an employee from another store and apparently this lady has a reputation around town for being a nut case. We were glad it wasnt just us...

I returned a week later to find she hadNot bothered to call the supplier or me. What addisapointment and frustration as this was to be a Christmas present. Poor sales rep!!!
