Great place for crafts, best for your wacky Halloween ideas.
Its Michaels. It has what youre looking for. Pretty well stocked. Good staff. Good framing dept. Reasonable sales.
This is a huge store. It has everything! Its a cool basement space. My cashier was very sweet!
Great selection here. I always find what I need and then some.
Janelle was incredibly helpful in helping me track down my elusive UPS package close to closing hours that I missed the delivery on. Great professionalism and efficient service. I highly recommend this store based on Janelles helpfulness.
I love this place to buy handcraft supplies...
Cuz I have to go to all Michaels for arts and crafts stuff excellent if you want to make arts and crafts jewelry anything you can find it at Michaels they have everything
Great staff and clean organized store.
Stood waiting at the framing counter for over an hour while 2 employees helped one customer and didn’t acknowledge me being there at any point or tell me when they could help me. Not worth the money for bad service.
Pros: Potentially great collection of craft materials and at very competitive prices. Very convenient location.Cons: So much potential for being a great craft store thrown away by not enough customer support. The customer is leaves frustrated and empty handed. How is that a good sales model? I was trying to find stuff and advice on how to do things and nobody in sight to help me. The few people on the checkouts were polite but too busy with customer purchases to help. Other stores seem to make time and have people to interact with the customer, even in these times. Items were not stocked and some shelves appeared empty.
My favorite craft supplies shop! I hope they expand their selections in jewelry cords, findings, and tools.
I have shopped this location about 8 years and they consistently have great service and are clean and well stocked.
I like visiting this store. Always stopping by to get something good.
Great craft supplies
It was ok! Not very helpful in finding stuffs
Easy location, lots of parking and good quality art supplies! A good amount was on sale when I went, ended up getting quite a bit for a more than affordable cost. The staff was very helpful and kind as well.
This Michaels location is convenient for those with a car, public transit, or communing by bike. I biked again and there were plenty of bike rack spots open at the entrance to the parking lot by Mass Ave. The parking lot tends to be a bit busy, but you can generally find a parking spot, and the Porter Square T stop is at the edge of the parking lot. Most of the time I go to this Michaels for yarn and yarn notions. This time I came for silk flowers. As is usually the case, there were a number of things on sale, which I appreciated. The store seemed to have less stuff in it than on past trips (something that could be related to decreased in store shopping due to COVID or could be related to the transition from holiday stock to traditional inventory). I still found everything I needed! I also was greeted by several employees checking in to see if they could assist me in finding anything.
The stock of products was low. But I found what I needed for my project.
Always stopping by, and catching good deals.
Good varriety for a basement store. Things are somewhat compact and know that the store is separated into two sections. There were only a few of the supplies I was looking for that wernt in stock.
Kind of limited selection, but cant knock it for the convenience. I wish there was a fabric section.
Love it here.
Usually a decent selection. Recently seems low on stock for a lot of items. Definitely check ahead if you are looking for something specific.
Great place for people who love arts and crafts projects. A real variety of interesting items, paints, frames, canvases, stickers, etc.
Its more expensive than I remmeber but a good range of crafting supplies. A helpful young man answered my questions on their range of yarn although they could stock a little more quality wool.
Is a little pricey but it is a huge store
Such a fun place! Always makes me want to do more handicrafts. Went there for DMC threads and theyve got all the colors 👌🏼
I was 100% completely satisfied with my call to Michaels. Staff was on point with everything I needed and I appreciated it 100%
Good service and prices
This is a fairly large craft store for a city where big box stores are often compressed. Its clean and kept well organized. With the coupons prices are fairly reasonable. The reason I gave four stars rather than five, is that there is typically a fairly long line and they dont always have quite as many cashiers up front as they need to manage the crowd. As long as youre not in a hurry though, this is a reliable Michaels location.
I love this Michaels. Its so big and brightly lit. Its all underground but you wouldnt be able to tell! Selection is good. The staff are helpful and can look up specific items you are looking for to see if they have it there. The cashiers are particularly friendly! Ive had several pleasant chats while Im checking out!
This place is awesome theres so much to choose from and its clean and well organized Friendly staff
So many options. As a crafty person, I spend hours a visit in here. The staff is always readily available for help and very pleasant. The also offer classes
Staff is very friendly, the design of the location is interesting. Its smaller than other Michaels but they have used the space well. There is handicap access even though its underground. Ive noticed this Michael has a lot more clearance items available, though they dont last long, compared to other ones. The location of this Michaels is great for family outtings, plenty to do for shopping or waiting for a family member. Train station is about 2 blocks away but parking in this area is ALWAYS FULL. BE READY TO DRIVE AROUND.
Good location, lots of parking, friendly staff
Rachel is super helpful and helped me find card stock to design my card game prototype!
Very satisfied with the quality of service
Very easy to find what you need and very helpful staff that will help you if not.
You get what you pay for, in this case its a good thing!
This is a great store with a remarkable variety of supplies and products, and ample square footage (which isnt evident until descending in the escalator into the roomy retail complex). Well-kept and roomy, you could go in quickly to find a specific item or find there is so much to see that you just want to spend time browsing for bargains or ideas.
A large craft store with a wide selection of materials. If you are looking for a specialty item, youll likely be able to find it here (although you will pay more than online). The staff are helpful and overall, if you want to shop at a crafts store instead of online (with lower prices), this is a nice place for buying materials.
I was not in the store long enough to have a real opinion. I want to say 3 and a half stars. The signage was straight forward. I was able to find what I needed. I was in and out in less then 5 minutes. However being familiar Michaels I gave it a 3 and 1/2.
Michaels has the stuff you see at the high end plant stores for $80 for $6 .. ( teranium)
Great Sale going got yarn to start Christmas projects and great art supplies
I really like this store. They have a great selection of yarn which is what I go buy. Sometimes they have cashiers that dont seem very willing to help though I rarely have issues. Today was a good shopping there.
Always find what i am looking for. I was looking for artificial flowers for my project. Even had a huge discount. Recommend this place!
Greatest Breakfast joint in the Greater Boston Area. Nice staff, priced right to.
Its was fine
Awesome!!
Great customer service. Very clean and organized.
The place is cleaned, and organized, with super helpful friendly staff.
Nice, convenient location. Helpful staff, and a deceptively large space for the store. There are some differences in what is stocked between this location in Porter Square and the next nearest location in Everett, so it can be helpful to check the stock online before going to make sure what you want is actually available.
Delicious savory crepes! Only thing is that the fillings needs to be spread out more throughout.
Great selection of all things you need for crafting and decorations. Be sure to check their coupons before you go shopping. Using those you can make some great day savings almost every day! Also great selection of baking tools and some ingredients.
Everybody loves this place... especially me.... they have so many great things for creative people
The weird basement Michaels of Porter Square. It has a wider selection of fine arts supplies than many other Michaels stores, as well as everything else youd expect. It can be unusual to navigate the store, but its great overall.
I had a tremendous experience here. I came here with my girlfriend to get some paint for a project she was doing with her students. The associate that worked here was able to point us in the right direction for the supplies we needed and when we went to check out, went out of his out of his way to supply us with a discount that is given to teachers buying supplies. Highly recommend this place!
I usually make time to do arts and crafts with my boys and i love coming to michaels to stock up on supplies every time i come in there is a different promotion or sale available and i do take advantage. not only do they have great arts and crafts things but they have almost anything else you might need for handy work at home, the workers are very helpful and friendly so i usually go in and simply ask and i get my shopping done faster because of the workers so i appreciate that
Massive arts and craft supply store. Most of the floorspace is dedicated to crafts, decor. and childrens art supplies, though they have a section for serious art supplies too (though for serious arts/crafts, A&C in central is better - this is more for the masses)
Helpful staff. Okayish prices and selection. I recommend checking the prices of everything on Amazon before buying.
I watched the store staff avoid helping a mother and child searching for polymer clay for 20 minutes while I myself searched for the item I had originally gone in there for. After I knocked on the employees only door, an employee begrudgingly informed me they didn’t carry the item I was searching for. After directing the employee towards the mother and child who were still searching for someone to help them, I was told all available employees are on the floor. A disappointing experience built around truly awful customer service.
More on the basic side of arts and crafts. This store is pretty big, so you will find all your essentials here, but if you are a hardcore artist, dont expect to find very specific equipment. That being said, they do carry some professional-grade stuff!
Craft supplies
The store is not bad my wife likes the products in your store because she likes to draw a lot on your sketch pads
I couldnt believe how giant this store was. Seeing that its in a very compact shopping center I thought it would be smaller, but no its huge! We were able to find a whole lot of stuff we didnt need which includes Halloween decorations that were 50% off. Cha! I wish the fake flower selection was larger but think the sparse selection may be due to having just missed a sale? In any case very happy with the deals we got that day and will most certainly add this Michaels to one of my go-to shops.
I found what I was looking for and the staff is very friendly
Didnt have stencils i was looking for but great store
Super nice staff and a fabulous store!
Im in here at least twice a week. I love Michaels in general, and the staff at this store is great, very friendly and helpful. I particularly recommend their Custom Framing department--Ive had eight pieces framed there and loved the result each time. My only complaint, if you could call it that, is that I wish the store itself was larger so they could carry larger lines of products like the Michaels stores in the suburbs do. But considering this store is smack dab in the middle of one of the most densely populated areas in New England, I think they do a remarkable job supplying products for a wide array of crafting needs!
Michaels in general is amazing. The customer service at this store, though, is the absolute worst. I ordered online and chose to pick up in store to save time, yknow like its designed to do for the customer. I went to the custom framing dept to pick up my online order and get FLAT OUT IGNORED by a worker named Bobbie. She wouldnt even LOOK at me. And she had just been helping someone else with an online order so clearly she knew how. I then got passed to two other people because apparent framing workers are too good to get online orders. And then as Im waiting (way too long for someone to pick up a single bag with my name on it, by the way) I see Bobbie walking out without her apron so clearly she was ignoring me because she was on her way out. The kid who ended up helping me was rude as well. Horrendous humans. Shouldnt be in customer service.
Hard to find things in this divided, underground store. Not many staff around. I guess if you knew exactly what you were looking for it might be easier...
Great company to get art supplies from.
Super convenient for all the random crafty things I just realized I need. The staff here are really cool and nice
I was in a jam involving framing something and deadline was close. Larissa went above and beyond to help me secure a mat. So professional and friendly. Really appreciated her help.
This review is based on their customer service. Ive called twice in a row to see if there was a certain item in stock. I was put on hold for over 10 minutes each time. Terrible customer service. I told the girl who picked up the second time how I was on hold for a long time and just want to see if they have something in stock and that I have the item number, so she said shes gonna transfer my call to a floor member and was on hold for forever again.
Gem in the city, small storefront, but extensive underground store (space used to be filenes basement i think. Next to Tags, next to Cambridge Naturals, Bookstore and Shaws. An incredible combination for Cambridge/Somerville. Parking is tough.
Big for a Michaels -- employees are pretty awesome, too.
Pretty decent pricing on products but the store has a weird layout. Felt like I was walking in circles until I finally found the products. Helpful staff.
Its a Michaels -- Have all the basic frames, arts, and crafts supplies you could ask for, plus they have amazing sales and coupons.
Very under stocked compared to the one in Everett
Large standard selection for your arts and crafts needs. Classes are available. Whatever your medium may be you can find what you need and a kindred spirit somewhere on staff. Staff is knowledgeable in select areas of crafts to seek additional inspiration and support. Not all staff use or have the same knowledge in a particular medium but can usually give some basic tips and suggestions. Because it covers many mediums of your looking for specifics you may or may not find the exact thing your looking for. If your planning a get together and doing a lot of DIY this is a great way to get that uniform look. Your creativity is your limit. ☆☆☆☆
I love visiting this store. Theres always something that catches my interest, and 5he prices arent bad. I wish Michaels sold fabric and sewing patterns too so I didnt have to travel so far to get those supplies. I come in for yarn or home decor most of the time, but always end up with some other craft supplies that I didnt even know I needed. Lol
Its a speciality arts and craft store offering a lot of variety. Prices tend to be a little high but overall a great place to shop.
Great store. Staff is always very helpful. Great location too.
It was a lot bigger inside than I was expecting, and it had a great selection. My cashier was very nice and she even told me how to find a coupon online!
Nice!we got what we want.
If you are into all things art Michaels Art and Craft is a place to be. My suggestion is to start at their clearance section, they got great treasures for super discounts!
Great if youre looking for yarn and hobby items.
Huge place exclusively for arts and crafts!I took my sister there since she likes crafts and she loved the entire range of Michaels products. Affordable prices too!Easy to reach, right across the road from Porter Square station.
Such an amazing store. Huge selection, helpful staff. Easily accessible by foot, public transportation and plenty of free parking.
I have been going into this store for needlework supplies for the last 6 months. Each time I come to buy floss, I notice that more and more colors are not stocked. Yesterday approx. 40% of the floss bins were empty. I will be shopping at the new AC Moore soon.
Clean, tidy, mostly helpful staff, but it is underground, so if you need to get a coupon online, do it before you go in.
You can basically get anything you want here. Its honestly pretty crazy. The thing is you can also get basically anything you want online too, and its always cheaper there... That being said: if you need something fast or just like seeing things before you actually buy them, then this is a good place to go.
Like it, dont love it. But thank God they have embroidery floss! Is only place I know that does
Always a good place to shop if looking for craft supplies and ideas. A very good selection of picture frames and custom framing available. On site parking available.
They have what I need, but the check out line is always a lifetime. I dont know why this upsets me, but it does. Everyone is very helpful and nice.
Okay. Did not find what I wanted. Ended up buying something else.
Every time I go to Michaels I am deeply skeptical that they will have what I need but every time they have it! A large and well-equipped store with absolutely every art and craft item you can think of, and then some.
