It begins with me making an appt with an opthomaligist so I thought. I called for that yet they booked me with optometrist. When I realized I called back and was told they were basically the same...?. I had to explain I was losing vision and experiencing double vision. Had to explain to appt taker I need an M D.. She concurred and rescheduled me. It was near a month to get in. So day of appt. Which was 8am. I show up little early. Check in was fine. Waited about 20 min to get into room. Young lady that did eye exam ask about what was happening was sweet and professional. Then I sat for another 1 hr and 20 min. Dr.was not there. When Dr finally showed up I over heard them asking the Dr. to get busy. People are and have been waiting. Maybe he didnt know? Dr. was very rude and condescending to his assistant. He did not apologize for his tardiness. And of course was now in a hurry. Would and will I go back. Nope. Would I recommend...Nope. I give 3 star because of Dr.. I give Dr. a 1 for showing up before day was over. He obviously is doing for the money and not because he wants to help people. Staff i give a 4 because of scheduler.

From office staff to surgery planning including costs and cataract surgery itself the entire office and staff is fabulous

It sounds like all those individuals awarding a single star are not regular patients. I can’t explain what might have lead to the issues they encountered, but I can tell you I have been a patient for over 10 years and I’ve never had a problem. For any doubters, I know the Santa Barbara office hasn’t been there 10 years. I was a patient when they were still located on Del Prado, and my first appointment was scheduled the same day I called. Prior to living in Cape Coral I lived in 7 other cities. I’ve had a lot of optometrists. Dr. Avril is one of the best. He explains every procedure step by step as he performs it, and answers all of my question thoroughly and thoughtfully. In other words, when I leave his office I understand exactly what he did, and exactly why he did it. He doesn’t talk to me like a doctor. He talks to me like a teacher and a friend and he speaks in terms I can understand. I am more aware of the current condition of my eyes and what potential health issues I may face in the future than I have ever been before. For those of you who gave these guys a “one star” keep looking maybe you’ll find an office you are as pleased with as I am with mine. Plus, I’ll have even shorter wait times if you’re somewhere else.

I have a very good experience with Southwest Florida Eye Care. The staff was wonderful, very helpful and explanatory. Eye technicians were very professional and experienced, supportive and understanding. I had Doctor Avril. I highly recommend this doctor especially for people with astigmatism. He did a right prescription for my contacts. Doctors, which I had before him could not work on my prescription. Some doctors said that I am not able to wear contacts. Doctor Avril proved that I can and I do wear contacts now. This doctor is very competent and has very good developed listening skills, which is very rare for doctors. He explains every detail for his patients, and I consider it is very important. The doctor Avril will be your advocate and will help you to chose what is THE best option for your vision.

Very Rude Staff can’t answer questions about if they take insurance, Lady that answers the phone was more worried about Luern conversation with someone in the background and laughing instead of try to answering the questions that the customers ask. Lost two customers today.

Update:Changing my rating to 5 stars after being contacted by Christy & then seeing Paula today. Paula gaves us anti-reflective leans cleaner (huge difference from regular eye glass cleaner) and also told us we could get our lenses replaced without anti glare. Thank you for the great customer service!The doctor and the staff all did a great job. My 1 star review are for their glasses. My new glasses are the worst glasses I have ever had. The lenses are not clear and are extremely hard to clean. The same goes for my husbands glasses. I will continue to see this eye doctor but will never buy glasses from this office again.

We had a wonderful experience at this office! Dr. Avril and the team are so caring and accommodating. Dr. Avril took extra time to explain everything to my boys and answer their many questions. Premier Service!!

Good doctor receptionist needs to be more clear on cost

Dr Avril and his team are wonderful, very caring and accommodating. He is a highly skilled physician who cares about his patients. I would highly recommend his office and his services.

Wow service was slow.! Spent one hour and fifty-five minutes in the office to spend less than ten minutes with a doctor. Only two other clients in the waiting room. No explanation from staff. The receptionist was acting like this is perfectly normal for them. Clearly not the only one having this problem, as I overheard the receptionist arguing with another customer who was angry about the wait time. Will not be going back.

Dr. Avril is excellent. However, I did have to wait a while.

I called for an apt. For both my husband and myself together. When I called the person answering told me she was filling in and didn’t know what she was doing. I had to give her my information 3 times and she still didn’t get it finally someone else got on the phone and wanted my info again. I said forget it if this is the way you run your business. my husband decided to give them another chance and called back to make the appts.. we had to wait 3 weeks to get the appt. we were given 10:00 and 10:45 appts and told to arrive early. Which we did. There were only 2 patients in waiting room yet we had to wait over an hour for my husband to be seen first. Then when they called someone else after my husband I asked what’s up. They said they made 2 appts between us...??????? I told them to cancel mine I wasn’t waiting another hour for my appt. terrible way to do business the office staff needs to get their act together there’s too many other eye drs out there to put up with inadequate people
