Such a cozy little place, very unique. I enjoyed seeing some of their antique books, fascinating to see how those books survived over a century. Glad I finally got to see this place.

Ive only ordered from them online and not been in person, but the service was fast and perfect (I even wanted a specific edition) and well packaged - which was important to me bc I used APO shipping and it had to come across an ocean. Hope to visit in real life someday!

Underground Books has an almost legendary status in certain sectors of the Carrollton and UWG community. When I first started working in Carrollton I heard a lot about it and was impressed with the selection when I finally visited the store, as well as the knowledge and helpfulness of the staff.I havent been there very often at all, but got the urge to stop by yesterday. When I did, I found the following sign posted on their doors (see attached picture) which indicates that patrons can support UB by purchasing books through the Libro app/website. (FYI, the site requires a subscription, but customers can get a free trial period to check it out first). You can see a sample of their book selection in the other image, which in my opinion is stellar. Im familiar with some of the books in the window, and those that Im not familiar with quite interesting to me. I look forward to UB being able to open fully and safely.

We really enjoyed spending time as a family here. All three of us found books to bring home. Go and support this local business.I loved seeing the signs that all were accepted there . The lady who rang us up also gave us some history on one of the books we were purchasing. Welcoming feel to this little gem.

Underground Books is an absolute necessity for me every time I visit Carrollton. It is such a joy to be there— cozy and warm and inviting. Megan has always been very helpful to me. She helped my mom find me a beautiful antique copy of Little Women for Christmas! This place is not only a store but also a community for small town readers. Much love.

This place is a real gem, small but exquisite. They carry a carefully curated collection that will please and excite book lovers, along with some interesting gift items like journals made with covers from old books. We stepped inside intending to take a quick look and stayed for about 45 minutes.

This place is a dream come true for avid readers and collectors of all types. Phenomenal atmosphere! When entering the store, it’s almost as if you’re stepping into an intellectuals secret basement library. They truly have an impressive collection and the “suggested reading” cards by the staff convey personal views almost as diverse as the books themselves. I don’t mean to be political, but diversity is what it’s all about. To me, this little store personifies the saying “I may not agree with your opinion, but I respect your right to it”. Maybe the world would be a better place if every town in the world was lucky enough to have a fun bookstore like this one in its town square.

Underground Books is the best place I’ve found for getting books that are obscure. They have a wonderful selection of every type of book imaginable. I have easily spent over $500 there just to fill in spaces on my bookshelf and my thirst for knowledge. You can easily spend 2 hours there just looking through the selection.

Although the advertising of the bookstore drew me to drive 60 miles to check it out, I was disappointed in the selection and variety of books. It is a wonderful location on the historic square and the entrance beckons you inside. I admit I have eclectic tastes but I could not find a single book to add to my collection. Perhaps their YA section is popular and keeps them stock moving.

I love this store. The prices are great and the staff is super helpful. I have never had a bad experience. I like the whole basement library feel that they have going on, and even if you dont buy anything this is still a really cool store to check out with their interesting décor and vintage books. If your in the area with time to kill stop by say hello and check out their books.

Were blessed to have this place in town. It is obvious that quite a bit of labor and love go into making Underground Books what it is - namely, a friendly neighborhood book store with lots of character. I am constantly impressed by their creativity (e.g. the locally famous book arch, confetti made from old books). Definitely worth your time. Also, check them out on Insta - they do a great job in the social media space as well.

My favorite bookstore ever! They have such an interesting selection of books on all subjects. A few books are new -- many of them are from local authors, and you can even get autographed copies! Most of the books are used/secondhand. They are often in excellent condition. There is also a great selection of antique books.Prices might be higher than youd expect if you dont typically buy secondhand, but I often frequent used bookstores and find the prices pretty reasonable for the condition. It is obvious that they purchase with great care and aim to have a wide variety -- something for everyone. The store environment is possibly my favorite part. It is below street-level; you walk down into the shop via a stone staircase. The store feels a bit like a hobbit-hole -- nice & cozy and filled with wonderful treasures. There are several chairs & even a couch for those whod like to sit and read. Unfortunately, it is not wheelchair accessible. Once you walk into the store, there is another set of stairs to go into the back room (where most of the fiction is).The proprietors, Josh & Megan, are lovely people and so nice to talk to. It is clear that they really love what they do. They even offer t-shirts and tote bags with their beautiful logo free with a purchase of a certain dollar amount. (I dont recall what amount but believe it might be $100.)Overall, Id recommend this shop to any booklover and anyone who enjoys a unique environment. I love this store so much that I drive over an hour & a half each way, several times a year. It is well worth the trip!

This is one of the coolest places on the planet. when I found out I was coming down to Georgia for a wedding, I googled the town and was trying to figure what else I could do. when I found out there was a used bookstore I was very very happy.I went to Plates for lunch which was fantastic and unbelievably reasonable and then we found the underground. It is really intriguing because it is in a basement of an old building. The decor would be described as a kind of .......rustic-frat boy-utilitarian-european coffee house -beautiful. You feel you would like to live there forever. They have a blend of new books, previous loved orphans and some real nice and pricey old books. My family was in there for an hour. My daughter and I looked through a great book on French Country house design, it was five dollars. All the books are laid out just like a library so it is easy to find stuff. I bought a great old set of books on art with all the prints inside which was over 120 individual 8x10 color paintings. I also bought a real nice leather book by Checkov. I also picked up two rather new books on topics that were of the on the spot interest simply because for the price I was going to satisfy my curiosity. This is a really great bookstore and it has a wonderful feel to it. If you like old books very reasonably priced this is the place to go.

While I like this store I noticed an almost hostile theme towards Christianity. For instance, while looking through the Christian book section, peppered within the books are very dated antagonistic religious materials and obvious anti-Christian materials. For instance why would The Gospel of the Flying Spaghetti Monster be next to a Bible? Anyway, overall I like the store, the atmosphere, and the folks that work there...just not the perceived agenda.
