Walked in today and was greeted and helped by Wayne. This dude is above and beyond the definition of Great Customer service. Showed me around the shop, pool, wetsuits and we went over in detail all the needed gear. So I signed up for the open water course today as well and Iβm stoked!!! Let me try on some diving booties and recommend what he thought was best based on what and where I plan to dive, found a great fit. Highly recommend this Scuba shop! Family owned and operated and it shows. They value their customers and look out for them. Worked with me on my needs and budget and walked away feeling appreciated and looking forward to diving π set me up with βThe Beastβ BCD Z.Brigade
Staff here is knowledgeable and friendly! Ive had to get them to order several things for me cause stock is kinda limited with Covid slowing everything down...they got it in quickly and I didnt have to pre-pay for something that I wasnt sure I wanted.HIGHLY recommended this place for all your diving needs!
Helpful staff. Stopped in to look at a wetsuit - in August - in Texas! Im smart enough to plan ahead!
Great people! One of the best dive shops in the state. Care more about the diver than the money. Cant say enough great things,
They took time with us and came up with the best solutions for our needs. I ordered an awesome full face scuba mask. Im excited to try it out!Update, I back from trip: My new mask worked so well! I had a wide field of vision, and I it never leaked, I never had to blow out any water, and I and my face never even got wet. I saw so many fish and had a wonderful time with my mask! So glad I bought it!
Scuba Toys has the worst customer service. I called and spoke with someone about why I was calling. He told me to wait on the phone until Rick picked up. I waited over 10 minutes on the phone for Rick. When he got on the phone all he said was, βWe donβt do refunds.β Thatβs it. No, βHi, how can I help you today?β No introduction, nothing (Iβm assuming it was Rick on the phone since thatβs who I waited so long for). After listening to elevator music for over 10 minutes waiting for someone to pick up, I was caught off guard by how he picked up the phone. Had he been nice, introduced himself, and told me about their refund policy, I would have continued to give this company more of my business and rescheduled my class. However, that is not what happened. His tone and attitude was incredibly unprofessional. If I choose take scuba lessons in the future, I will go elsewhere.
Cool guys..from air tanks, charging air rifles.. paint ball or scuba..these guys rock!
Brought a friend there to talk scuba for his kid. The staff were helpful in getting ideas in cost and such for starting out.
Joe, Sandy, Wayne, and the rest of the gang are all first rate! We learned to dive here over two years ago (flew to Cozumel with the shop) and have been coming back ever since! We are always treated like family, since day one when we didnβt have a clue on earth what we were doing they helped us pick everything out we needed and showed us a good, better, best range. No pressure sales tactics then or now. Ill always keep coming back. If youβre looking for a new shop, or place to dive then look no further!
They were highly recommended to me and I concur. I highly recommend these guys
Nice dive shop and group. I joined one of their social events at one of their local dive sites at scuba ranch and they were very welcoming. Had a great time. Seems like tons of knowledgeable instructors and met a lot of nice and welcoming divers.
Scuba Toys is a great place to get started in diving and to stay with. I was certified there in 2017 and the instructors really had an interest in showing all the aspects of scuba. Since then Iβve gone on one of their dive trips and it was an experience of a lifetime. On the trip I was certified for advanced open water through them with another great instructor. The shop has everything you need and the staff is knowledgeable and friendly. I hope to do more trips with them in the future.
Took the open water cert class the last two weekends. Everything went great, our instructor Greg was great, helped us with every step and provided great instructions for every skill! The store has good pricing, an a wide selection of everything needed to scuba. Wade in the store was very helpful when I was picking a BC. Will be coming back for more gear soon!
These guys were super helpful getting me set up with everything I need to get diving. Im excited for it to arrive!
Ive been coming here since they opened, have gotten family members certified here, bought several dive gear packages. There prices are as good and usually better then any place else. Wouldnt go to any other dive store. Great people.
Plenty of room for all their inventory.
I took my open water driver training with Greg and it was amazing! All the Dive Masters and Instructors were very knowledgeable. Everyone at the shop is super friendly!
Great store. Girlfriend took her open water training there. Highly recommend them.Greg and Tom were excellent.
We LOVE Scuba Toys!!! I just received my OW certification through Scuba Toys and it couldnt have been a better experience! From the first visit to the store, they made us feel so welcome! We look forward to just dropping by to see what is new and to say hi to the great folks that run Scuba Toys!
I was looking for a wetsuit for my upcoming Florida trip. They were helpful. I had to make a return and they accepted easily. I will come back again.
Great place to get certified for Scuba. Great place to buy Scuba Gear. A great Family to do business with.
Great products! Need better customer service.
What made me fall in love with Scuba Toys was that, from my first visit, the staff was more concerned with my experience as a novice diver and my cultivating a love of scuba diving, than with selling me equipment I might not want or need down the road. Subsequently, I donβt shop or rent equipment from anyone else. Iβve taken a personal refresher lesson from one of their instructors and have spent time w their master divers and instructors out at Scuba Ranch. Theyβre the real deal, family owned and operated, and Iβm happy to be part of their dive club. I canβt wait to take the Advanced OW course through Scuba Toys.
Great service, great advice and great price. Delivered to UK no problem and will advise you on best postage. Thanks ScubaToys
The best place in town for everything you need to dive or snorkel. The staff and service is the best. Its ran by a family and feels like one when you walk in. Thanks Scuba Toys for the adventures to come.
Ive been interested in getting into scuba diving for a few years now and recently made the choice to get Open Water certified with ScubaToys. If youre looking for a place where the shop team is attentive, personal, cost-friendly, and knowledgeable, look no further.I came in to buy my gear with little to no prior first-hand knowledge (online tips only get you so far). One of the main attendants, Wade, was very helpful in fitting gear (even during COVID-19 times), tips for gear management, and his experience. Also had part of my Open Water training at the shop as part of a two-weekend certification course. Instructors Bill Armstrong and Rizza Asuncion were very knowledgeable and had great experiences to share and impart knowledge from. Luckily during this time, class sizes were limited by the store to limit the spread of COVID, so it was fairly personal and we got a lot of attention from both the instructors and our divemasters (Sarah Walls, Tom Dwyer, and David Green). Always great to know the store cares to keep regulations and keep its customers safe during a tough time.Know its definitely tough for local dive shops in times when you can buy gear online for cheaper and with more ease, but having an experienced teams guidance and suggestions for making these purchases is worth infinitely more.Definitely going to make my way back if I need suggestions for new gear or other certifications, or if I need to just rent gear or want to look to go with their team on dive trips. Thanks for making the first step to diving easy and comfortable!
Great selection and great training options. Staff was friendly and professional. Cant wait to get in the water!
I cannot speak highly enough of this shop. Iβve been thinking of taking some lessons, and giving scuba diving a chance but I was little apprehensive at first. Everyone I dealt with was so informative and they put me right at ease. Sandy helped me find exactly what I needed and got me all signed up. This is the kind of experience that will have me coming back time and time again. Love supporting locally owned businesses! They make it easy to spend my money there with the quality of equipment and care I received at this establishment.
Great people to work with. Prices couldnt be beat. Rick was super helpful and knowledgeable. Would have been 5 stars but their truck didnt arrive on time with my tanks. Not their fault. Very professional outfit. I drove from Arkansas to do business and will again.
Took my girlfriend to get certified here.... more time pushing hard sales than actual time in the water. They say if you purchase equipment from them there is a discount on gear rental for the open water dive but that is a bold face lie.
Great staff, so knowledgeable and helpful!!!
They have always helped me with any scuba gear & courses Iβve needed. Sandy and Rick are amazing people and I love big Joe too. Support your local dive shop like I do and visit Scuba Toys! Miles and Jeff are the best instructors Iβve ever met and Iβm a world traveler!
Great place with an amazing staff who was friendly and welcoming. Im from Atlanta and stopped by while here on business looking for just a couple of accessories. I was greeted by a friendly staff that so helpful and really made me feel comfortable. I will definitely be stopping back in the next time Im in town or if I need to order online! Thanks for the help
Best dive shop around.
I got great service on gear, great recommendations and great prices. Took a class and the instructors were easy going and informative, approachable. I learned more than required and they interacted with everyone. Always open to questions and highly flexible. Nice job, Guys and gals!
It is always an amazing experience dealing with Scuba Toys and their staff. They have the industry leading gear and the experience and knowledge to help you get what works best for you.
Great place
Great place to take classes and get all your dive gear. Friendly and knowledgeable staff and convenient location.
Went it on a Thursday afternoon looking to do some scuba diving. Didnt know anything about it. Figured i would walk in and inquire about the classes they offered. Its a family own business and it shows. The employees we dealt with didnt really know much about scuba diving and couldnt answer our basic questions. Their only concern was making the sale. Which they did. Costed me and my wife about $650 dollars for the lessons and training material to read over. Lessons were for two weekends, Saturday and Sunday, with one weekend taking place at the class and pool, and the other at a lake in Terrell TX. Which they advised isnt too clear or visible. Which made us wonder well what was the point of going there, if you cant see? But regardless we followed through. We decided upon the following weekend, because the sales people assured us that we would be well prepared for the class and would have no problem going through the course material. We get home, they forget to send us the training material link. So we lose a day to study, we have to call them back to get them to send the link to the e-book and course assignments. They finally do, and we soon realize this is going to take much longer than expected. We are both college students and accustomed to studying and assignments, and this was far too much to read and comprehend in less than a weeks time. So we call and inquire about hour options. We asked about the refund policy and the sales person literally laughed over the phone. That sort or professionalism accurately speaks volumes to the type of company Scuba Toys is. We tried rescheduling and were told that we would have to pay $200 extra. And honestly at this point id much rather just take the loss and be done with them. I should of known the company was shady when they said their scuba instructors were independent contractors. Please avoid and instead look for a more professional and understanding company, who sole concern is not sales, but customer service and customer satisfaction.
ScubaToys will move mountains for their customers! Between experience and knowledge, you wonβt find a better dive shop!
This is a family run business and I consider it my local dive shop. I once got verbally accosted by a guy in Cozumel who was chastising me for not shopping local and patronizing a big online retailer like Scuba Toys. I have news, although Scuba Toys has their online presence, they are very much a mom and pop (literally) local dive shop with top notch service and competitive pricing.
Great place to buy from. The staff is very knowledgeable and flexible.Im tall (6 6) and broad shouldered so its hard to fit clothes. They ordered a wet suit for me and didnt charge me anything until it showed up and I confirmed it fit and was worth buying.Very happy with ScubaToys.
Spent 20 minutes in the store wanting to buy complete outfit. No one helped us, or even acknowledged us. Going to try international scuba down the road. And listening to others they were helping sounded like they didnt have anything in stock. Will never go back.
Great selection, great service, great knowledge, great prices, and great attitude. Id probably buy from them online anyway, but I am glad I am close enough to go to their bricks and mortar store. Nice to see the bigger guys sticking to what made them successful.
Im an advanced diver and stopped through here on August 5th, 2017 on a road trip to go scuba diving. I needed a couple of things. The two gentlemen working in there were rude and short with me when I asked a couple of questions. The store is neat though and had a good selection of stuff and I bought what I needed anyways because I didnt have any other choices. I wouldnt go back though. Im sure they have better employees but they had a class going on. Maybe they were teaching the class. Scuba doesnt seem like the type of business to act like a jerk around the customers though. Especially if youre in central Texas.
Terrible mail order customer service ... I ordered several small items on Jan. 17. On Jan. 19, I received a phone call telling me two of the items were not expected back in stock until the following week. I said that was fine and patiently waited. On Feb. 1, and was told my items had shipped that day. They arrived on Tuesday, Feb. 6, minus one item. I called and was told they had forgotten to put it in the box. The man on the phone said he had it in his hand and would send it out that day. On. Tuesday, Feb. 13, I called asking about the status of my item and was told it was mailed late last week. When I asked why it wasnt mailed Tuesday, all I got was silence. Finally, on Friday, Feb. 16, my last item arrived. I dont mind when something is out of stock, but I loathe lying! I prefer to go to my LDS, but they dont carry the brand of regulators I use and and thats what this was, parts for my regulators. I will never order from Scubatoys again!
I have been a scubatoys internet customer for years. While I try to use the local (wisconsin ) dive shops as much as possible I also need items they dont stock or take advantage of the sometimes spectacular specials Scubatoys has. We were preparing for a dive trip and my wife remembered she needed a new mask with reading lenses / cheaters. The Mares x-vision I use (and bought a second for her last year) does not fit her well. We ordered the atomic medium fit mask and lenses (with a note we needed them rush for a trip) and they expedited the delivery and my wife loves the new mask.
The staff at Scuba Toys are so helpful!! Unbelievable customer service!! I ordered a wetsuit and received it so fast! It didnt quite fit right, called there office and the guy was awesome at helping me figure out size I really needed! He took the time to talk and discuss with me what the dive conditions would be that I needed it for, helped size me and then after receiving my returned suit, sent out a new one within days! I was shocked! I didnt expect it for at least 2 weeks! They are very speedy!
These guys are great! Best place in Texas to buy scuba gear and fix all your old gear.π
Had a great experience getting NAUI certified with Scuba Toys, would definitely recommend!! John and Georgia were great instructors that took the time to get to know the class and each persons needs. One weekend practicing in the shops pool and the next out at CSSP, we had a blast. The course is definitely worth the price and looking forward to visits back to Scuba Toys, whether its for gear or to practice in the pool.
Great
These guys are awesome. Theyve got way more inventory than any of the other dive stores. and what they dont have, theyll be glad to get for you . . . and fast! Their onsite pool makes it possible for us to easily refresh our skills AND the instructor was fantastic. Really helped me work on my neutral buoyancy. I made such an improvement in maintaining my NB that on our scuba trip fish were swimming right up to me instead of running for cover from the flailing mass in the ocean. Highly recommended!!
The staff is great and a lot of fun. It is definitely the best place to buy scuba gear in the DFW area. Amazing selection as well as great rental gear.
Rented defective equipment for a dive. Each time I breathed into my regulator it made a screech so loud that my dive buddy (wearing a hood) could hear it. I could not dive with it. When I asked for my money back (and returned 4 full tanks) they would not give it to me. The clerk proceeded to ask if I was joking, that I would return something because of a little noise. It was loud and when I purchase something I expect to get what I purchased. Ive always enjoyed SCUBA toys in the past and recommended them to friends, but this encounter has completely changed my mind.
The staff is great and they definitely know what they are talking about. I will definitely come back here for any of my scuba needs!
This place offers Scuba lessons, as well as swimming lessons; however, if a problem arises, no one wants to take responsibility. The teachers will say it is Scuba Toys problem and Scuba Toy will say it is an issue to solve with the teacher. There is a Lady named Marie MacCann who advertise herself as a professional swimming teacher, but shows no results, no customer service and she is never on time to any of the lessons. She offers private swimming classes. The $200 dollars payment for a total of 8 sessions (15 min per kid session) is due on or before the first day, which is understandable, also she does not offer refunds, or make up classes (basically once you pay, theres no way to get your money back regardless of the poor results, no advancements and lack of respect she shows). She is very strict with the customers; yet, she starts anywhere from 15 to 25 minutes late every single session. She also ensures her clients that the average kid will be learning free style stroke by the end of the 8th session, which does not happen with most of the kids. In fact; she repeats the same routine on all sessions, and for all the kids, regardless of the swimming level of the kids in the same class.I tried to talk with the lady regarding her tardiness because that shows lack of respect for customers, and some of us have other activities right after her class. But instead of apologizing for being late, she sent me a very rude and nonprofessional response via text. She lacks professionalism and takes advantage of the difficulty to file a complaint due to her being self-employed and not having a website where you can file a complaint. Most of the customers rather not to sign again on her class instead of complaining because of this, regardless of her being an employee or self-employed she must show respect for customers who paid for a service. And this place should take responsibility for the teachers they allow into their premises.Lastly I would like to mention that today November 13, 2017; as I told her that I didnt appreciate the rude messages she sent, she completely went out of herself, started yelling in front of people and wanted to call the police. Definitely she does not know how to handle a business.
You guys rock! Wayne and staff took care of my needs and were extremely knowledgeable about everything...I will always recommend Scuba Toys to anyone because of the work ethic and friendly nature of this dive shop! Thanks again!
Great place, knowledgeable helpful staff. Always fun to browse around there.
Huge store. Great customer service. Fantastic instructors. Very nice family business.
Scuba Toys carries a the largest selection of scuba Buoyancy Compensators (BCD), Masks, Dive Computers and Dive Packages. Best place to learn SCUBA in Dallas, Texas. The customer service was exceptional and I will be back.
Love the service and staff at Scubatoys! Great place for toys!
Overall meh. Read entire review for both good and bad points.Online - The Good:Staff are very friendly, knowledgeable and interested in genuinely helping. This is entirely what saved me as a customer, their online presence is balls. Be it Tec or Rec, they have someone that can give you good suggestions.Selection is pretty varied, and quite good compared to a lot of online retailers.Prices are fairly competitive. Certainly better than most LDS prices.Online The Bad:Online website desperately needs updating. No ability to change currency or live estimate shipping. Search is really limited, and finicky, and results pages are a giant list instead of a table of results. lots of clicking around and scrolling. Site desperately needs category and brand tagging. Many items available are not listed online, so you have to call, and inventory doesnt display on site, so sometimes items you order are not available. Many missing pieces of functionality as well, like the tracking page which has been broken forever. Doesnt work well on mobile.Shipping methods are crazy expensive, and dont reflect size, weight or actual value of purchase accurately. Confusing to select (many options, sometimes for very similar prices) and often super SLOW if you arent shipping stateside so beware of this if you need gear in a hurry.Other dive retailers have their shipping costs under control. ScubaToys could benefit from taking a close look at this - because the costs are going to turn people away internationally. For an alternative site with great international shipping, check out divegearexpress until scubatoys fixes theirs.Overall 3 stars for this reason. Will keep checking back and adjust my review when/if things change.
Very friendly/helpful. Great prices.
Helpful staff and great prices. Will do business with again.
ScubaToys is, by far, the best dive shop in the DFW area. The staff is polite and attentive and has no problem taking time with you and doing their best to make sure you know what youre buying. The instructors are knowledgeable and thorough. I have been to many of the dive shops in the area and NONE of them keep the stock that ScubaToys does. If you need/want it, they have it and its likely in stock. I have seen some better prices in other shops but they have a great deal to offer so I can easily overlook a couple of dollars for the service and quality I get when I go there.Joe may look a bit intimidating with his shiny bald head while towering over you, but hes pretty awesome and very reasonable. This is a family store and several members of his family are staff. This really is an amazing shop. Most of the divers in the area frequent it and when I dive on the weekends most people have dive bags or other gear from ScubaToys and they are often a conversation topic (In a good way).
Very helpful and friendly staff!!
Helpful and friendly
Awesome place, awesome people and atmophere
