This blackbear diner is tucked away inside the casino might be a little hard to find if you’re not looking for it. The waitress was pleasant and attentive. The tables were clean and I assume sanitized.The only criticism I have is the potatoes were undercooked and the meat in my all meat omelette was overcooked. But the friendly service made up for it. As you can see in the photos you definitely don’t go away hungry they are very generous portions
Went based on reviews and I give it a 3 stars. We werent greeted at the door, girl look at us like as we were lost. We got sat and ordered, food came fast. Food was presentable and tasteful, we enjoyed our meal. Though our server Sara didnt check on us or greeted us upon arriving or wish us a good day when we left, we still left her $10.00 tip. I hope the customer service gets better because they do have good food here.

Dream and Blake were amazing with our party of 18. We were thankful for a separate room for loud kids, they were attentive on refills and sweet with our kids. The restaurant was wonderfully clean and tidy. The cooks got everything perfectly. Food was hot, steaks cooked to their right temperatures and garnished perfectly.Thank you staff for an amazing evening.
Love the Black Bear Pumpkin Pancakes. Our server, Lillian, was the friendliest, kindest server we have met on our 5 state, 10 day, road trip! Nice to cross paths with someone who truly has found her calling.

New to the area and was looking forward to eating at black bear diner. We where told 15-20 minute wait.. we waited about half an hour to be told it doesnt look like much but were backed up, and waiting for a party of 18... there where plenty of empty tables. We watched 5 or more families leave.. an elderly couple seated themselves.. we continued to wait patiently and asked to witch we where told again they are waiting for the group of 18 to arrive and where seated first so would be the first to order... Their group wasnt even all there... So we decided to leave and go eat elsewhere. Very disappointed with the unprofessional service.
Ordered to go today. Everything was tasty had their Southern Scramble. Only corrective action would be please dont pass burnt potatoes on to a to go order.I didnt appreciate that.But good on the rest. I continue to be a fan
I ordered the chicken avacado sandwich with a chocolate malt and upgraded my fries to sweet potato fries. My sandwich was so good and I only ate half of it and saved the other half for lunch the next day becauseit was huge. The sweet potato fries were good although a little soggy and not as Crispy as I like them. The malt was really good but a little expensive for the size you get. The host that helped me was really nice and the service was quick. I will definitely eat here again but next time Im gonna try one of their breakfast that you can order all day.

My toddler son and I came here to meet up with my mom, my sister and my two young nephews (under 5).I got there a few minutes after they had ordered so Im not sure about the experience prior to my arrival.When I got there I was promptly asked if Id like to order anything. I just ordered a water.My water came very quickly along with salads for my mom and my sister. They were regular garden salads with sides of ranch dressing, they looked fresh and tasty.My mom ordered the chicken fried steak with French fries and green beans with bacon. The chicken fried steak was really good, nice and crispy and the gravy was flavorful even though it seemed like it was made from a powder packet ( not sure if it was, just seemed like it).Sister had the pot roast which was delicious! Flavorful, juicy and tender. She had the fries, which were standard and the bacon with green beans which werent anything special.The kids all had chocolate chip pancakes which were really good too! Probably the only negative thing about the meal was that they brought out the kids cups (miniature sized versions of the regular drink cups) without any type of lid!?Also, while the service was good on ordering and quickness of delivery, it seemed like the waitress took a long time to come back after she dropped off our food to give us the check. Full disclosure: this is possibly because I ordered extra chocolate chip pancakes to go, but I did so while my family was still eating their meal so... not sure if it was my timing or the waitress.They also gave each of our little ones stuffed teddy bears 🐻 for free!So, in conclusion, each main dish was really good, sides were ok, prices were decent and service was quick at the beginning but lagged at the end(again, possibly my doing).

Well the food is good but the service is just okay. We got the free breakfast from hotel. The 2 ladies serving needs to smile more especially in the morning. They look like they just woke up and dont wanna be there to work. There is no welcoming vibes i feel with workers there. I saw one that is more joyful. I think her name is jennifer?...
The Hollandaise sauce was a little watery and the hash browns were undercooked practically raw for the $14 I spent I was pretty disappointed only the second time going there wont make that mistake twice

The staff are very good friendly and hard working we are evac.from caldor fire we have been treated so kind by all have been there for 8 mornings and every day staff asked how we were doing if our house was still standing made things better for me and my 74 year old mom also food is very good portions very good and the coffee was very good thank black bear and all staff made me feel at home
Horrible.. the place was basically deserted and it took well over 30 minutes for our food to arrive after ordering, and we were only a party of 2. Ill never go back and I recommend Betsys Big Kitchen at Slot World over this place.

It was ok here we spent a little over $100 ..one of our orders was a steak and was delivered as a sandwich. And instead of fixing the mistake the server offered a salad and then said ok win/win which in my eyes wasnt a win. Good food tho

Me and a friend walked in and were seated quickly, the place was not busy and it allowed us to be served up as quickly as we had arrived.I ordered a chicken fried steak and I must say, this was very big and full of meat. I had also the eggs scrambled and the country potatoes with two biscuits.I must say that the atmosphere was enjoyable and quite. Our waitress replenished our beverages quickly and was an enjoyable.I will definitely come once more to this place and feast.
We have always had good food and great service at Black Bear diner until tonight. Unfortunately, from the time we arrived until we left the atmosphere felt off. The hostess did not greet us, nor really speak even though we tried to engage in light conversation as she walked us to a table. She might have been having a bad day, maybe she was tired, or others before us could have been rude to her. We had been looking forward to this meal and wasnt going to let this spoil our dinner. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable, took our drink order and we ordered when she returned. She returned with our salads which were good and soon brought our plates. I ordered the chicken fried steak with potatoes and green beans. My plate was good and I was happy that we chose Black Bear Diner. Myy husbands plate, fried chicken and potatoes, looked as good and he began to eat. He put his utensils down and I asked what was wrong. He said the chicken was cold and I thought he meant it had cooled, but when he asked me to touch a piece of chicken, which I did, he meant it was ice cold. The outside seemed done but the meat of the chicken was almost frozen. When our server came by to check on us, my husband quietly told her his chicken wasnt cooked. He explained it was ice cold and he wanted to let her know so she could pass it on. Without apologizing or expressing concern, she asked if he wanted her to reheat his plate. No. She walked away, and we both talked about the possibility of eating raw chicken. Within a few minutes, in which we had been excited about eating here, we were concerned with our safety and the safety of others. It took us several minutes to recover, gather our stuff and leave. During this time, I honestly thought someone would acknowledge the issue, offer their apologies, say they were sorry, something or anything, but to my disappointment no one came. No one came to our table, no one apologized and no one mentioned their ownership or responsibility. Our server, seemed embarrassed and not sure how to handle this situation, brought our ticket, said we could pay at the front, turned and walked away. I was completely shocked that she never apologized nor even thanked us for coming. Our opinions, where once very favorable were now in question. Well probably try another Black Bear diner in the future, but not sure as well always remember the lack of hospitality, the lack of concern, and the food served at this location. This certainly shows how important training, customer service and food preparation is for every employee. Each person should know what to do and how to handle this situation should it occur in the future. Thank you.

The hotel is great but it took 20min for me waiting with just the menu and no drinks served to me to make my decision to walk out since I have also seen other patreons served after me at other tables served with drinks and sides, the place was mostly empty and the reason I choose the hotel was due to the restaurant but I think my next stay will be somewhere else but the hotel is great so no problems there.
Unfortunately I didnt eat a meal, but I saw they had personal pies at the check out counter. They had chocolate/chocolate chip, and coconut banana cream, and the price was awesome. Got it home and omg heaven. I will be eating dinner there soon I totally can not wait. if their food is even half as good as those pies were it will be way worth any amount of money.So as promised I went for a meal, I had a New York Steak, wow the plate huge, the portions huge, my stomach not so huge. The steak was cooked to perfection, the veggies were fresh and not over cooked, I hate mushy veggies and these ones not only had their flavor but they also still had a crunch. And the potatoe very very yummy, couldnt eat it all so took it home and ate the rest an hour later. So wonderful 👏

When family of the waitresses are there they get more attention than you as a customer. We watched our food sit under the heat lamps for 20 mins and when we did get it everything was cold the bacon was so old it looked like a dog treat our daughters food wasn’t even correct it was supposed to be scrambled eggs with ham and cheese fresh fruit and toast and she got eggs with hash browns and a piece of so called toast. All my food was cold and the so called toast we got was stale bread with some butter on it we have only been to this diner one other time and again the waitresses family was there and we were forgotten and they got all the attention when they came in 20 mins after us we WILL NEVER be going back to this restaurant if I can give no stars I would

Food was below average for Our Lunch! We had a simple BLT and Reuben Sandwich and they were both bland and tasteless. The BLT had a humongous piece of lettuce and not much Bacon. The Reuben had almost NO sauerkraut. Just add 2 coffees and tip and it was $32 Bucks!Save your money for the slot machine, it’s a better gamble!
I’ve been to other black bear diners, but I had terrible experience only at this location. I ordered online and went to pick up my food. the staff was super rude. Didn’t give me any napkins and silverware. She said “she can’t give me any forks”,. What kinda restaurant doesn’t give forks and napkins? She was super rude when I open the stapled bag and said that I’m not allowed to open it. I told her that it’s a pick up order for myself and not a delivery. Still she refused to give me forks. I guess she assumed I’m a delivery driver and going to steal food even though my order type is pick up and I mentioned it. Even if I was a delivery driver, that is not the way to treat a person. I wouldn’t order from that restaurant again.
When I first started ordering food from here, it was great. Lately, food has been cold and/or not cooked all the way. Customer service also isnt the friendliest.

A nice cozy diner inside Maxs Casino that was the perfect stop after a long day at Tahoe Beach. Our server Alyssa was an absolute delight, and really made our day with fast and friendly service.
We went there on Fathers Day about 5:30 yes. We ordered five males and they came out couple at a time my hot turkey sandwich was cold my mashed potatoes were not on my plate. They later brought them out they look like they dug him out of the garbage. I understand theres a problem with hiring people. And that it was Fathers Day. But I could not believe that our males came out one at a time. And they were cold french fries were cold I was very disappointed in my meal.

I have to start by saying wow. I called to place a to go order. They asked to put me on hold. 20+ minutes later I called back with a different line, still on hold, and told her I have been on hold for awhile and would like to place an order. The employee who answered the phone was rude and said no one was on hold. I then asked to place an order and she awkwardly paused and said, I guess. After an awkward silence I asked again and asked, Are you ready? Another awkward i guess. I have had issues here before this and if they couldnt even take my order, I had no confidence in it being correct. We did not eat here.

Unfortunate experience trying to get breakfast for a party of six in 2019. Located inside of a casino off of the main street in Carson City. We came up to the main counter at the restaurant an were immediately told by two black bear diner employees that they didnt have room for a party this large. We said, we could wait for an opening and just hang out. They then said that they couldnt seat a party as large as ours. We said, no problem, just seat us at two different locations. Even that wasnt good enough, as they then said it would be nearly 2 hours. Those two young ladies basically were just saying go away nicely. Worst experience ever as Black Bear is usually a very good place to go. Would not recommend, and will certainly not return.

Travel a lot, been to many Black Bear Diners. This one was not one of my favorites. Love the idea of it being in a casino, but absolutely hated the idea of smelling the cigarette smoke the casino as I was eating lunch. I had the scrambowl, the potatoes tasted burnt not very appealing. The server lady was not around to get anything or refill our drinks. Not impressed will not be visiting this location again!
Food is quite good. Like other black bear diners. I will say this can be a very busy location. Be patient with the staff. Not only are they dealing with COVID and their rules the state requires them to enforce the rules too. Be kind, its free.
What a charming place. The cuisine (albeit unfamiliar to my palette) was indeed of the highest calibre and indeed most enjoyable. The quality of service was unrivalled and a fascinating discourse ensued with one of your engaging staff as to the difference between modal and auxiliary verbs. Will most certainly come back. The food was excellent. The greeter needs some training as we were not greeted and seated at a table, one of the customers told us to just find a seat.
Good but kinda spendy but the food was good so I was ok with it.
We made a reservation 2 hours prior. We got there 10 minutes early. There was 2 lines, one to pay and one to “check” people in. After waiting for 10 minutes and not even being acknowledged, my wife and I approached a young man to let him know we were there for our 10 am reservation. He told us there was no table open ad it would be another 5 minutes. After another 10 minutes, with again no acknowledgement, I went to ask once again about our table. At that time a very rude young lady told me there was other people waiting before us that had reservations at 9:30 and 9:45 and we would be seated after they were. My wife and I decided at that point to leave and go give our business to someone else. They were very disorganized, unprofessional and the customer service was non existent. We just recently moved to Carson City and we were excited to have a Black Bear Diner here since it’s one of our favorite restaurants, but after the experience we had, we will NEVER go back again. And I would not even give it a star if I did not have to to post this review.

Dont expect to win here but the food is great
Went to the black bear diner last night, March 1st, and to say we were shocked would be an understatement. We had our usual waitress and she did a great job as always but seemed to be the only one actually working. The main issue that night seemed to be the new cook. He could be heard complaining, arguing, and using foul language throughout the entire restaurant. Food took much longer than usual and wasn’t up to its usual standards. We asked our server who the new cook was and we’re surprised to hear that it was actually a day shift cook who had worked there a while. The server and busser did a great job at trying to maintain this situation and keep customers happy but they shouldn’t have to do that in the first place. As a family diner, they shouldn’t allow this kind of hostility, attitude, and disrespect from the cook. Sad to say we won’t be returning until management gets this situation under control.

I ordered through door dash and my delivery came fast and hot. They dont skimp on their to go orders like some places Ive gotten. In fact my sandwich was so big I had to save half of it for later. Would of given 5 stars but there was no avocados on my sandwich like there should of been. Still it was delicious!! Will definitely order here again!!
