As a small business ourselves we value other small businesses. But being so we also judge more strictly - the business must make our community a better place, no two ways about that.Matt, the owner, certainly is that gem of community that makes it better! With all the greenways around bicycle shops prop up like mushrooms, and weve certainly been to all - just to know that you only need one that cares and knows his stuff and customers.Next time you need a bike or any bike service - check Matt out first - I bet he wont disappoint!Remember, as a small business he can get busy, so the best thing to do is to come the first time, say Hi, and then just text him. Its that personal, professional and cool ππ.While you are at it, making friends, please say Hi to Porter for us, the dog and Employee of the month πI also think that Matt doesnt charge enough. We care much more about him sticking around forever than a dollar saved here and there. Biking is a way of life for us.We recommend a tip jar, for Porter π
I have been taking our bikes to Matt at Cycle Surgeon for years. Its great to know that he is the one working on your bike because you know that he knows what he is doing. His prices are always fair, and hes upfront about time when you make your appointment. Today, he replaced a tube on my sons bike, but he always gave us some great advice on what to look for when we purchase his next bike because he has grown. (He also has a super cool dog in the store.)
Matt did a fantastic job overhauling my Chris King hub. He was easy to communicate with over email to schedule the drop off and pickup.
Customer service was excellent! Repairs were minor and completed same day for hardly 20 bucks. The time spent with me and all my questions on my first visit to the shop was priceless after some not so great experiences elsewhere.Thank you Tom!
Matt has earned a reputation as the go-to person for bike repair and maintenance. He is present at all of the main cycling events in the area. Since everyone goes here for the best bike service, the work is all queued up, so do not expect immediate service.
I must rank Matt in my top 5 for response times. I messaged him at 6:40am and he responded to me at 6:42am. Where does this happen?! Hes knowledgeable and highly recommend for a reason, and I am looking forward to working with him.
Very high quality repairs for a very reasonable rate! Thank you for getting my bike good as new, TCS!!!
Amazing service! The only downside is the wait time, expect to have to wait a couple of weeks in order to have a tune up or an scheduled maintenance. But aside from the timeline, the staff is amazing and friendly! Super helpful in repairs and even in explaining how to do it on your own!
Great. I was visiting from NY state and needed a tire fixed. The Cycle Surgeon fixed it the same day. He was very friendly and gave me advice where to ride in the area. If I lived in Cary NC, he would be my bicycle mechanic!
Stopped in on an off day and the service was great. Personal and professional
You should plan your service a month in advance but worth the waiting time ! Great service, always asking before replacing anything and does not push to change or upgrade if not needed. He even could repair a Corima carbon wheel making an annoying noise when charged.
I recently moved down to Cary and was worried about finding a good bike mechanic in town. Thankfully, I saw Cycle Surgeons reviews and decided to give them a try. I had them service my bikes- which include a fat bike, tri bike, and road bike. I was very pleased by the workmanship and results. Matt and Elizabeth are also down-to-earth people, and for the quality of work and price, I highly recommend Cycle Surgeon for anyone looking for a solid bike mechanic.
Excellent customer service and impressively knowledgeable about bikes, setup, repairs, and value. Great bike shop and very courteous. If youre looking for a Yeti or an Ibis, definitely worth a visit!
I had a quick installation issue with my bike that I needed assistance with. Communication with setting up an appointment time was prompt and easy via text. Many places are quoting long repair wait times but Matt was able to take care of the work in 5 minutes upon arrival to drop my bike off! I can tell he cares about his customers and the cycling community. Will definitely be coming back for all of my bike related needs!
They were able to help me figure out parts I needed on my bike in a timely fashion. Ill be back to have more work done on my bike soon!
Just what the doctor ordered. We were headed on a trip where we wanted to take our bike. My recently purchased used bike needed new tires before we could do any riding. Coincidently, by husband broke a spoke and bent the rim on his bike a day later. The Cycle Surgeon responded quickly to my inquiries, found the parts (in a difficult time for sourcing bike supplies) and made the repairs so we could take our bikes on our trip. Happy to have a local shop ready to serve. We will be back.
Cycle Surgeon is an amazing little shop that offers a variety of bike-related goods and services at really reasonable rates. Im lucky Im located within 10 minutes of this place, but even if I move somewhere else within the triangle area, I will continue to take my bike here for any and all services.
Excellent customer service and solid quality/craftsmanship placed in to their work. Exactly what youβd expect from a local, family-owned business. Make this shop your go to for any cycling need!
Matt is great! He did a huge service on our bikes including forks, bearings, tires, dropper posts, etc. When my wife and I rode our bikes they felt AMAZING! we have been to lots of other shops and Matt definitely did solid work and paid close attention to all the details. We would definitely recommend!
I cant say enough good things. Matt is amazing and gives great advice. If you cycle and live in the Triangle you cant do any better.
Extremely detail oriented and knowledgeable! Love this guy πͺπ΅
My go to guy for stuff I cant fix or dont want to fix as I do a lot of my own work. Been riding all sorts of bikes for over 30 years and Matt is one of the best mechanics that has worked on my bikes. Great shop too with nice bikes.
The husband and wife team operating this business are amazing. They really go the extra mile. I call Matt the Doc because he makes the right diagnosis and goes above and beyond in service.
Wonderful shop! As a new bike owner, bike repair and maintenance is still very new to me. When my bike was in an accident I had no idea what to do or who to go to. This place was so sweet and so helpful. Upon pulling in the first time and trying to unload my bike from my car I was immediately approached by the staff and helped in getting my bike unloaded and inside. The shop worked very quickly than I ever imagine to get my bike back to me and even helped explain some bike basics that I was unsure about. Will certainly be back for all my bike repair needs!
I went to Matt based on a recommendation and all of these 5 star reviews. Hes worth every bit and more. Knowledgeable, patient and thorough. I went in for a fitting and spent 2 uninterrupted hours with Matt and came away not only better fit for my bike, but a better all around cyclist. This is the only bike shop I plan to use in the future.
Got my bike upgraded. Awesome service and awesome price. I will be back. Customer for life!
These guys are wizards for bike adjustment and repair. Great place to take your bike. Cant say enough good things about Cycle Surgeon. Love this place.
I only have good things to say. A friend referred me and has been using Matt for years. He is honest, skilled and thorough. Its rare to find an experienced mature bike mechanic. I am ecstatic to have found him. My mountain bikes have never been happier nor have I
Repairs bikes quickly and does a great job!
Always fantastic work, excellent communication while your bike is being serviced, and a wealth of knowledge. Matt and Deb really go the extra mile to ensure that repairs are done properly and hold themselves to a very high standard.
Efficient, knowledgeable and courteous
Matt is awesome!Superb quality, honest prices, and wonderful guidance when you need help or feedback. The new retail store is also really nice. Thanks Matt!Followup - Went in today without notice to fix a simple wheel issue, and Matt dropped everything he was working on to fix the problem. AWESOME person! Thanks again Matt, you will always have my business.
Excellent service at this shop. Skilled mechanic who can maintain and fix your bicycle, whatever brand it is. Has a deep knowledge base and willing to search for the right parts or alternatives.
Ive had great experiences with Matt (The Cycle Surgeon)! Ive found him to be very knowledgeable, helpful, and well adept at just about anything you need done to your bike. Both my wife and I have used him for bike fittings as well and have been pleased. Matts bailed me out (along with a guy in our group) during event rides so he was a lifesaver there! Id highly recommend Matt to anyone who needs bike repairs, fittings or equipment!
I stopped by while having some issues on a ride. They fixed me up in no time. Thanks for the assistance!
Matt will take good care of your bike. His a skilled, honest mechanic that owns a well organized, beautiful store. The best part is when his dog comes to great you.
Matt was extremely helpful in showing me what to do with my broken Pinarello, recommended a couple of excellent carbon workshops in the country specializing in cycle repair. They worked with me to get it strip the bike down and ship it to Ruckus Composites, and then built it back again.
Fast, did great work, good communication, and great value! What more could you ask for?
Man what can I say. Heβs professional, timely, and knowledgeable. Highly recommend using this family business.
Second bike with them and extremely pleasedThanks
Great family run business. Very good at their craft. So good, in fact, that you can often end up waiting longer than youd want for your bike to get done.
Matt is a super knowledgeable guy when it comes to bikes. If you have a difficult problem, he is the man to see. Also very nice and helpful!
I first took my bike to Matt after having issues with the brakes on my bike that remained unresolved despite having the brakes examined/adjusted by 2 chain bike stores and having the bike tuned up by a third. I was sufficiently frustrated that, when I took it to Matt, I asked him about just ripping them out and replacing them completely. Matt talked me down from the ledge and, from the time he fixed the brakes til now, Ive had no issues at all with them. Since then, hes done some work on and done a fit for me on both of my bikes, including a little healing work for my trusty steed after one of my (many) crashes. He always takes his time, is generous in sharing his expertise and in answering questions, and fairly presents the pros and cons when discussing alternatives. Suffice it to say, I recommend him without reservation, and dont see myself trusting my bikes to anyone else.
Matt is master wheel builder and master mechanic. Deb is also very knowledgeable of industry suppliers and bike companies. Great to have this service available to this area.
Its been a couple months since I had my Roubaix serviced by Matt - and somehow I havent ridden it outisde until yesterdays beautiful springlike day. Its once again just like new. Silent after BB service, along with proper tension in the front end and seat post (all of which had been creaking). Also with fresh cables, housing, and some nice bar tape - she looks as good as she rides. I do a lot of my own work - but what I cant do - I take to Matt. Nowhere else. 5 stars.
Cary Cycle Surgeon stood behind warranty and resolved some issues that were due to manufacturer defects. My bike was creaking horribly. Matt figured out the problem and went the distance to fix everything. He went above and beyond. Experienced, reputable and capable. Highly recommend.
Matt is an expert with bicycles, and he runs his shop with quiet integrity. Look no further. This should be your go-to repair shop.
Matt was extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Would and will recommend him to anyone I know.
Hands down the best mechanic! Matt and Deb are knowledgeable, helpful and accommodating. Plus, the best socks wall around!
Great place for any bike need, very fairly priced, quick turn around time, will use again!
Very helpful easily diagnoses problems doesnβt try to sell extra stuff you can tell he does it because he enjoys it not just for the money I would go here 11/10 times!
As a beginner in mountain biking, Matt and Deb couldnt be nicer and more helpful (even though i bought my bike at another store). This is the kind of place you see yourself becoming faithfull to, you will be reluctant to go elsewhere. They even hold bike technical/maintenance classes for free. Oh forgot to mention, it is also fairly priced.
Matt is great! Very helpful and extremely professional. Highly recommend The Cycle Surgeon!
Nice folks with knowledgeable service.
Great service and very knowledgeable about anything bikes. My bike runs great after a tune up.
Matt does a great job tuning up and repairing bikes at a very affordable price. Turnaround on repairs wasnt very long either. Definitely recommended.
Matt Lodder at Cycle Surgeon saved my day big time and his work was fast and awesome. I met Matt at the FireCracker Ride on July 4th. Matt was kind enough to volunteer his time to the cyclists of this event for any trouble shooting/maintenance issues. As I was rolling into the last sag stop on the 100K metric, I noticed my rear gears were not shifting into the lowest gear option. I had Matt look at my bike and I am so glad I did. My rear shifting cable was frayed and really close to breaking. Matt figured out the problem immediately and went to work fixing the issue. When I offered to pay him for putting a new cable on, he said no charge. He was just at the event to keep all riders safe and their bikes working properly. This was by far one of the nicest and coolest things. I also noticed as he was fixing my bike how many other riders stopped by to say hello to him and brag about his services. I dont live up in the Raleigh area, but if I did I would for sure being taking my bike to him for tune ups and maintenance. Thanks again Matt at The Cycle Surgeon for saving my day.
So quick and helpful!
Matt and Deb always helpful. Bike is always taken care of.
Anything wrong with your bicycle Matt can fix. Best bicycle shop in Raleigh
